Battery drain after android 12 update (India) - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

I am facing battry drain problem since android 12 update, more then 20% overnight.
(Not facing this on android 11)
I was not in beta and installed stable build directly through OTA.
Hoping to solve problem without factory reset
Also, I have noticed proximity sensor always on, no matter screen is on or off even in safe mode, visible only through a camera
Any suggestions

as for your proximity sensor, I think that is normal if you have enabled "lift to check phone." that is enabled by default so you have to disable it.

[Q] Nexus 5 proximity sensor always active / on

Hi all,
I've had this issue for about 2 weeks or so. The proximity sensor on my Nexus 5 randomly stays active no matter what app is on or if the screen is locked. So whenever the screen is active and I put my hand/finger near the proximity sensor it will blank the screen. You can see how this would be annoying when you're just checking notifications and the screen blanks out. Any thoughts or suggestions? It definitely seems software related as a reboot solves the issue until it happens again. I've tried to consistently recreate the issue, but I can't tie it to any one app that was/is active, or any combination of events that causes it. After a few hours when I unlock my phone to check a notification I notice it's active because the screen will go dark. Is there a way to see what app(s) could be doing this?
My phone is unlocked and rooted, but stock rom. No screen protector at all. I can't think of any non mainstream apps that I have installed.
Thanks!!
I have this issue exactly. Did you ever find the fix for it?
Are you using any app that uses the proximity sensor to turn on the screen? (e.g. Shake Screen-On). Those apps keep the proximity sensor on (if using near receiver mode).
One way to see if an app is using the proximity sensor is by checking the battery options. One of those apps might be the one draining your battery.
Same here. Reboot makes it work fine for a couple days, then the proximity sensor just stays active til the next reboot. Has done this on CM, PA, and Cataclysm.

Light and Proximity Sensors not Working (CM3602)

Up till yesterday everything was working fine. Suddenly, the screen stopped turning off during calls on CM11 (4.4.4). I thought of it as a bug then.
Today I switched back to ViperS Sense 5.2.1 and the screen still doesn't turn off during calls.
I used an app to see all my sensor's readings (CPU-Z) and it didn't show anything for the light and proximity sensors.
I tried *#*#3424#*#* and ran a light sensor test but it didn't give me any result (I think it's a fail).
And now the automatic brightness control isn't working either.
Is this a hardware issue or is there a solution? Has anyone encountered this?
PS: ROM/Firmware in my signature.

plz
note:-
already done factory reset my phone .
wipe cache partition and wipe data still the problem
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
Yes this update really has a problem with battery drain and there's no option to go back to an earlier version even if you restore or wipe cache etc. It will remain updated. The only solution is to disable all smart features in settings which use and activate sensors such as proximity sensor, camera and infrared. Try taking a look at accessibility in settings. I believe many features here are power hungry. Clean up all the background apps every time. You can download Greenify from play-store to help with this

Proximity sensor issue s8/s8+ - wakelocks and battery drain

Hello all,
many of you probably have no idea, that there's a small issue with our phones regarding tmd4906 proximity sensor. But first things first. Since I switched to oreo, I've noticed that something's eating up the battery and its sth related to system process. So I installed gsam battery monitor and started checking the lists. I came across that in android system, there's an entry regarding proximity sensor which is taking battery like crazy. Then, I was searching for the cause of it. And i found that's pretty easy to reproduce for us all. So I ask you to check something:
switch on your mobile data, find a dark place, turn on, i.e Spotify and start listening to music (mobile data has to be in use), turn off the screen, and point any other's phone camera to your phone where proximity sensor is (left to the speaker, up.). You should be able to see that proximity sensor is constantly working when mobile data is in use.
Another question - is there any other way to get rid of this? I have switched off everything which may make use of this sensor - no go. Since I'm unrooted, I cant do nothing about it. It's keeping making wakelocks like crazy and draining a lot of juice. My Samsung A5 2016 uses half less juice when i keep mobile data on.
Yes, I've tried many clean flashes from scratch - nothing. I came across that similar issue was found in s7.
Have you tried disabling "Block accidental touches" in Settings / Display ?
I my S7 Edge i had that too. Made my "Android System" wake like crazy. Only working solution was install different ROM (official)

Workaround for Android Auto freezing on Oppo

Appears to be an issue with the Always on Display. Disabling that should resolve the issue.
See detail below;

by the way feel free to spam their support email as this issue has been going on too long!

Solution : enable developer options, and enable keep screen on while charging.
yup screen on = no Always on display..
though also battery and burn in aint good...
Screen will remain on, but brightness will drop to minimum level as the phone is left idle. When looking at the phone while driving, it looks almost off, the home screen is barely visible.
would be great if someone could build a tasker or Automate task that turned off AOD when AA is running.. though you prob need Root..
Anyone having a issue after C62 update of it just now not connecting at all?
jipp here.
android auto refuses the connection after the update.
My head unit is trying to connect while oppo is asking which usb type should be choosen (load/ android auto/mtp or so)
Selecting android auto results in a connection abort and a short vibration.
Already cleared app data, cache and even reinstalled android auto with no effort.
wow oppo really sucks..
just got CPH2025_11_C.53 - android auto is working flawless again

Hi guys,
I have a Find X2 Lite with CPH2005VF_11_C_78..
after the android 11 update android auto start to freeze switching apps (ex from maps to spotify a 15 seconds black sceen) or when navigating has to turn direction (the cursor start flickering and after a while the navigation resume).
Is this a similar problem to yours? any suggestion?
my oppo f1s always turn off even after restart, how to fix my boss?
Images on the lock screen, crash the Android Auto. It is an OS problem. Here is what to do, till the problem is solved :
-Go to Settings, Security, Smart Lock and and your car a trusted device. That way you have your phone unlocked while driving and fingerprint disappears.
(You can also remove fingerprint from lock screen by going to Settings, Passwords & Biometrics, Fingerprint, Screen-off unlock and select off, but then you have to wake up your phone before being able to use fingerprint)
-Go to Settings, ..Always-On Display, Always-On Display and disable it. (You can also select Always-On Display with battery saver, which turns off image after some seconds, but on those seconds, the Andriod Auto is crashed)
@[email protected]$#[email protected]& OnePlus, OPPO and Color OS...
Same thing at OnePlus 8T with OxygenOS 12 (which is ColorOS 12).
After update to 12 I still have some problems with AA. Now phone is totally unusable (totally laggy or black screen) when connected to AA and after when disconnected - must wait ca. 5 min or restart phone.
But... After reading this tread I turn off AOD. And stil same. Then I turn off also fingerprint reader at turned off display. And... Everything works perfectly
Will test AOD on, FP on and Smart Lock at my car. But OPPO is a joke...
