from beta to stable - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello XDA-Community,
I've been wondering if it's possible to revert my OnePlus 7 Pro to stable builds, whilst keeping all files? (Avoid full wipe)
Thanks

Hi
No, it is impossible! Wipe data are done by this way! Stay in bêta! It works fine ( for me in my mind).

It is not. Often the two builds have different security patches and because of that Data partition and Internal Storage often needs to be wiped to use the latest patch in beta or the older patch in Stable. It is highly recommended by both OnePlus and the people in this forum to wipe data before moving between the two builds. Back up your apps using Titanium Backup or Migrate and put them all back when you are done downgrading. Backup your important files from the SD card to your PC manually but do not just copy all the folders and just paste them back because android saves system files to the internal storage Android folder and those should be regenerated organically by the system when you reinstall the app.

[RECOVERY] Team Win Recovery Project 2.7

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

CHANGELOG for 2.6.3.0:
-Proper backup and restore of SELinux contexts (thanks to Tassadar)
-Pull in some ROM information for backup name generation
-Merge all recent patches from AOSP bringing TWRP up to date with Android 4.3
-Add 1200x1920 theme (thanks to Tassadar)
-A few other fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.1.0:
-Initial SELinux support (only a few devices, need testers so come by IRC if your device doesn't have it and needs it)
-Initial support for f2fs file system formatting (Moto X)
-Update SuperSU install for 4.3 ROMs
-Fixed a permissions bug on files created during backup
-Fixed a bug that caused TWRP to not wait for compressed backups to finish causing 0 byte files and md5sums to not match
-Fixed decryption of encrypted data so that both TouchWiz and AOSP decryption are possible
-Ignore lost+found folder during backup and size calculations
-Various other minor bug fixes and tweaks
CHANGELOG for 2.6.0.0:
Special Note: If you are running a custom theme, you will likely need to remove that theme before updating to 2.6.0.0 as your custom theme will likely not have some of the new changes visible (e.g. you won't be able to encrypt a backup)!
-Can encrypt a backup to prevent theft of private data from your backup files
-Updated graphics / icon courtesy of shift
-Updated exFAT to latest commits
-Fixed a problem with Samsung TouchWiz decryption
-Update SuperSU binary
-Fixed saving of backup partitions list
-Fixed saving of last used zip install folder
-Fixed backup of datadata on devices that use a separate partition for datadata
-Fixed some issues with the advanced wipe list (android_secure, can now wipe internal storage on data/media deivces and wipe data on the advanced list no longer formats the entire data partition)
-Fixed some problems with partitioning a SD card
-Various other bug fixes and tweaks
Notes about encrypted backups:
Why encrypt your backups? -- Most people store their backups on the device. Any app that has permission to access storage could potentially read your backup files and try to harvest your data. Encrypted backups also provide an added layer of security if you move your backups to other storage devices or to the cloud. The encryption that we're using is probably not strong enough for enterprise level security, but should be strong enough to make it significantly difficult to get to your data.
Encryption is using OpenAES which uses AES 128-bit cbc encryption. If you happen to use a longer password (over 16 characters) then the encryption strength improves to 192 or 256 bits. Do not forget your password. If you forget your password you will be unable to restore your backup. We don't encrypt the entire backup. Encryption is very CPU intensive and can be fairly slow even when we spread the workload over multiple cores even on the latest high-end devices. To ensure that encrypted backups don't take forever, we don't encrypt any other partitions besides /data and in /data we don't encrypt /data/app (or other app related directories where apks are stored) and we don't encrypt dalvik cache.

it doesn't work on 4.1.2, because there is a new bootloader since 4.2.2, wich is incompatible to 4.1.2
If I were to install this recovery (currently using CWM), do I need to reinstall stock recovery then TWRP?
Or it is okay to flash TWRP directly onto my current CWM even I'm in CWM?

I am getting 'Internal Server error' while trying to download

Deleted two OPO Apps and want them back. [Gallery and Download]

This is my first post at XDA.
Recently I rooted my phone. I also installed Titanium Backup. I saw for apps in it and saw two Download and Gallery apps. I deleted one of each thinking of them as a duplicate created by the backing up using the Bacon Root Toolkit (I did everything using this, rooting, restoring, backup, etc.). I deleted the smaller app, thinking it is just a copy without user data (I think that App size (not the apk) increases when we use an app because some data is stored). Now the Gallery and Download app is missing. I think both of them were necessary.
Can you please help me. Should i do factory reset? or something else? or get those apks?
Note that i do not want to clear my internal memory because when restoring the data back by copying the data into the internal storage using Windows and Media transfer mode on OPO, I often get device disconnected or busy errors in between and thus could never actually copy data more than few gigs, also if I copy around 55 GB then if it stops in between, ihave many missing files deep into folders that I can't accept, allover, it's very frustating.
Actually I sent all the data using Shareit app to my phone.
Useful Info:
Device Model: A0001,CyanogenMod version: 12.1-YOG4PAS3JL,Android Version: 5.1.1, Android security patch level: 2015-11-01.

Nope. Just dirty flash it. Backing up is good, but flashing the zip doesn't clear the data.

Yes, I backed up on MIUI and restored from Pixel Experience while I was encrypted. Even though most apps and data were restored properly, it failed with a few apps (I don't remember their names).
Mine says nothing to restore after flash. Anyone with a fix?

Redmi K30 Pro newbie

Hi all. New to the forum and based in the UK. Recently got a Redmi K30 Pro 6GB. Currently it is running MIUI 11.0.16 Stable QJKCNXM. I got the from sent from Hong Kong so unsure if it has .EU or China rom. To be honest I just switched from iOS as I've been using that for 10+ years so I'm a little unsure of the whole Android side of things even though I am quite techy.
Basically, what I want to know is:
1. Am I on China Rom or EU Rom based on what I mentioned above.
2. Is it possible to run a stock Android 10 on the phone rather than using MIUI (or any other software you recommend?)
3. If I can't do number 2, then maybe updating to MIUI 12 might fix some of the things I dislike about MIUI 11 such as delayed notifications from many apps despite them not being restricted and having all permissions enabled. Is there a MIUI12 download available with guide?
I already have made a full local backup and have also backed up to the cloud.
First post, so couldn't post in another forum which seemed more in line with what I'm asking but hoping the mods will move it if they feel the need. Thanks!

1. It's CN ROM. If during the initial setup you can only choose between English and China, it's stock CN ROM.
2. For now, you can't as there is no stock AOSP (pure) Android custom ROM yet. But you can unlock the bootloader and install Xiaomi.EU modded version of the CN ROM (both MIUI 11 and 12), which has bloated CN apps removed and is customized to be a global ROM.
3. CN MIUI 12 Stable is already available. You can check for update from your phone (Settings \ MIUI version \ Check for updates). If there is still no update, it's probably still in closed testing and will be available later.
But upgrading OS only may not fix the problem you have with the notification.
For the apps with delayed notification in either MIUI 11 or 12, you should try to turn on their Autostart option and set their Battery saver mode as No restrictions in App Info page.

Thank you. Is there any beginner/newbie guide to getting the EU rom on my phone? Doing this, do I lose everything? I have a full local backup but will that backup actually reload the chinese bloatware back on?

Yes, you will lose all data because you have to unlock the bootloader first. You can restore the backup and depending on what the backup contains, it might restore some bloatware.
Apply here for bootloader unlock
https://en.miui.com/unlock/
Then flash twrp recovery then miui eu, and restore whatever you need

Thanks. Looking at the backup folder there are plenty of the bloatware apps in there (all .bak files). If I put them all back on will I be able to delete them naturally within the phone (currently you cannot delete them from within the phone as they are blocked from being deleted). Another option is for me to remove those .bak files from the backup folder but wondering would that be an issue at all?
When you say flash TWRP....how is that done?
Thanks for all the replies so far. Really helpful!

Yes you will 100% be able to delete them afterwards, as they will be stored in data, not in the system partition which is read-only. So you can do a full restore, delete unwanted apps and then do a better backup file without bloatware.

The problem is that my nokia phone is ext4 partition while my poco x3 pro is in f2fs file system, and every time I tried to restore my backups it's ended in force encryption state and data inaccessible error.
Is there any way to disable force encryption lock?
I tried dm-verity disabler and I faced /odm partition not found error
Please help me disable it.

I don't know. I didn't use it.
Since you are using MIUI, another way to try is install Mi Mover in your Nokia and then backup from it, then restore in MIUI.
Still don't expect it can backup and restore apps fully functional, it's just another try and error.
No no I'm using Crdroid 11 the latest version
