Hi, I'm pretty out of the loop when it comes to custom bootloaders and rooting. I tried reading around for information with my specs but I don't know how up to date it is.
Anyone know if I can get TWRP bootloader on my G930T with G930TUVSBCTA2?

Wondering the same thing after several attempts with different softwares and versions... let me know what you find out.
FYI I was attempting to load 3.5.2.9 https://dl.twrp.me/herolte/
You can't install TWRP due to the locked bootloader. Had you had a lower version firmware, you are on "B/ or 11", you could have at least rooted your phone.

I just bought the verizon variant of the z3. I've ready different things saying that they aren't root able yet. But, I've also read that as long as they're on 4.4.4 they still are. Mine is definitely still on 4.4.4. Can I root this phone? It has like, 60+processes running all the time that slow this thing down to barely usable..... Help!
you should be able to root providing you have firmware that is rootable, maybe you are confusing rooting with unlocking the bootloader for custom kernels
hello i got a s7 from straight talk . and it model is SM-G930VL
what does that follow under .. i was thinking verizon but verizon doesnt have the L in it . Also would i be able to root using that method that in the forum . also Which roms would i be able to use when i root it?

It should be under the Verizon model. Usually tracfone does not lock the bootloaders on their variant. On another thread a guy flashed the verizon firmware to this model with no bricks and issue. but doing that WILL lock the bootloader. I hope he responds to my post. want to know to what extent it was flashed and if knox got tripped.

would you be able to show me the right direction to where he got the method to root his.? also if you learn anything else from him . can you let me know. so this mean I have an unlock bootloader? doesn't that mean I can root easier?

I should be able to get one of these mids august hopefully and will use it as a test device to see what bricks it and what hack can be done. In the past tracfone has release the SM-S975L(Tracfone Unlocked bootloader) which equals to an SGH-I337 (AT&T Locked bootloader), they released the S5 & S6 which equal to the SM-G900V and SM-G920V, both have Unlocked bootloaders. So i dnt think the S7 is any different and equals to the SM-G930V. Any root method that works for the SM-G930V should work on the SM-G930VL. But again this is just my say based on past experiences, i wont know until i get the phone and try all this. For what I know so far he was able to flash the complete verizon firmware which i think will flash a locked bootloader and no going back after it.
Yes will share my experiences.

So i was able to flash the full latest verizon firmware and fully ended up converting the phone to an SM-G930V. SO provided that you flash the firmware on which root was achieved for the SM-G930V, then there is really no stopping you from rooting this phone. As expected due to flashing the verizon firmware the phone has a locked bootloader now but root was achieved regardless.
Proceed at your own risk.
I have the Sm-g930vl (tracfone) and would like to confirm the bootloader is unlocked. I can boot into both recovery and download mode but cannot connect with fastboot to get device info. Is there another way to check?

Bootloader is locked and cannot be unlocked. Samsung devices do no use fastboot.
edit build.prop

Thanks for the info. Do you know if I can edit the build.prop with adb without rooting? I've never messed with Samsung. Seems a different beast.

No way you can modify build.prop without root. What are you trying to accomplish?

I was hoping to enable hotspot. I've read where people have flashed the 930u firmware and can enable it but I'm already on Nougat even on tracfone firmware.

I see, the only way I see this working for you is by third apps or flash a firmware that supports it.
I had an HTC 10 w/Sprint and it's getting old and full, but I liked how easy it was to unlock the bootloader. I enjoy having a rooted phone and I'm seeing that the S8+ (US Version) can be rooted, but I'm assuming there's prerequisites that used phones might/might not have to do so. So I'm just wondering if there's any questions I should ask the sellers of an S8+ on Swappa or eBay to make sure that root is possible when I decide to buy one? I don't wanna wind up w/a LS997 situation, where I got the phone but it was too upgraded that the methods to root were patched up. Thanks for any help.

No boot loader unlock. There is a method for root. It's system only root and only on nougat.
Coming from LG you've seen anti roll back we have the same. But they're is a method to downgrade the system only even on the latest boot loader to have rooted nougat https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/development/root-t3909782/post79500078#post79500078
Safestrap is like fish on the lg g4. once safe strap is in place you can then flash a older system image from older boot loader revisions.
Even on the latest boot loader we're have Samsung's test firmware called combination files. Which include a nougat bootloader that is a permissive kernel and allows for root.
I ran lg all the way back from g2 to g5. So I've been in your shoes too. that's pretty much how I ended up here. From a sprint g2 g4 and g5
So even if the phone is upgraded, there's a method to roll back to an environment to root an S8+? So I can basically just cop an S8 w/no worries then and not ask any prerequisite questions?. That's good to see. I appreciate the assist.

yea pretty much the bootloader must remain the same increment but the system does not
obviously newer pie and even oreo where all bit 5 BLs but the firmware needed for root is also bit 5 but a nougat bootloader
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/development/root-t3904613
is the perquisite to rooting
this allows a type of twrp for locked bl
we can flash pretty much all but boot img and non stock based custom roms
Bl6 hasnt been released yet so as long as you get it soon your good as
since this is edl I doubt it can be patched but always a possibility
Hello, I have a Galaxy S7 G930P with what I believe is the v7 bootloader on Oreo.
I've only rooted a couple times before so I'm not super experienced but this phone is worth nothing to me so I will (and have been I think) risk bricking the phone. From what I understand this is a locked bootloader, so I cannot root it at all, or at least that's what I'm seeing. When I try flashing it with many different APs including engineering ones with multiple failures in Odin.
Depending on which files I'm attempting to flash, I either get and AUTH or a RQT CLOSE error in Odin.
The error on the phone says SW REV CHECK FAIL.
It's a little late in my timezone so my writing is probably horrendous, if you need anymore information I'll be back on in the morning to supply anything else. Thanks!
also please don't roast me, I'm new to this...

The bootloader says "PRODUCT NAME: SM-G930P", although the marking on the back of the phone says SM-G930A.

The solution to your issue would be patching your boot img in magisk in tar format and then flashing that img via odin

From what I've read, you can't get root on sprint and/or bootloader v7

The only root methods for the snapdragon/USA models is by using engineering bootloaders, but you have to be on the right bootloader to flash over to the engineering bootloader, which there doesn't seem to be a v7 engineering bootloader out there

Someone with root can patch your img with magisk and you can flash it in odin and it wont work however due to the fact you have a locked bootloader i believe once you flash it in Odin you will get unauthorized binary alert and your phone won't boot

Hello there
I just ordered my V50 European model to replace my V30, which suddenly had a modem problem it seems cause it stoped reading any sim card without any damage, humidity or obvious short circuit it seems even after meticulously checking the insides abd trials and errors.
Ok I just wanted to ask because I am kind of confused. In the unlocked bootloader versions, isn't it possible to install a custom recovery and get root that way just like with any phone that I unlocked in the past? Meaning I always thought that if you have an unlocked bootloader you can always get root access easily. But is it not this way for now and so we have to wait for a root or custom recovery exploit even if we have an unlocked bootloader from lg?
Just wanted to clarify that and thank you for your time.

There is no custom recovery yet, but rooting with fastboot and some other stuff is not a very device specific task in general. The guide to root the g8s should be exactly what you need.
Any progress with the root?

Dude the g8s people have already managed to root it just look at their guide and use kdztools to get the boot img to patch with magisk
I was wondering if the original poster succeeded with the root. I was also considering to buy the European version but it's nowhere to find here in US.
