Android TV: Subtitles bottom margin (position) - MX Player

Hello
I have bought a Xiaomi Mi Box S.
MX Player Pro has subtitles bottom margin blocked. Cannot change subtitles position on screen.
Obviously, I have tried on several files with which I can change subtitles position on screen on my phone and tablet. So files are OK, problem is with MX Player Pro on Xiaomi Mi Box S.
Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks.

You can use mouse to drag the subtitle position on Android TV. But developer should be implement an easy way to do it on TV by normal remote controller.

IR Remote control

There are quite a few apps out there that can turn the tablet into an IR remote control, but all apps I tried so far want to do very 'smart' things with channels and programs and so on. I just want a remote control that I can program myself. Does such an app exist?
Touchsquid! You'll prolly have to Google it tho
Try this it is a paid app but it sounds like it's exactly what you're after, I haven't tried it however just spotted it in play store

It is indeed a simple and seeming universal remote control. However, it is not programmable.
For example, when I want to play a video, I need the following commands:
* switch on TV
* switch on media player
* select input channel on TV
* menu controls go to the media player
* volume controls go to the TV

No worries thought you were just after a simple tvv remote, when you say media player your referring to a seperate machine aren't you like a ps3 for example not your tablet
Yes. In reality the situation is even more complex because I also have a power switch that needs to be switched on first and takes a second to switch on the power to the tv and media player (and other equipment).

I use it on my Note 10.1 all the time
I tried to download Peel Europe, but instead of a download link you must register with AppsZoom and get an email with a download link. This link redirects to Play Store, but the app has been removed from the Play Store.
Did anyone manage to download Peel Europe? Where can I find it?

You can not ask for a link of a paid apk here.
Smart IR Remote - Samsung/HTC works great (search in market, can't post a link). It's a paid app, but it's worth it.
Touchsquid is best. You define profiles for activities and even program macros. Smart remote is nice too

[Q] Remote Control for TF300T?

Couldn't find it by searching but I was curious if there is some type of app that works as a remote control for the TF300T.
I just want something that works with a video player so i can pause, stop, play, etc videos. I don't need full functionality i just want something that works and I would considering paying for the app as long as it worked. Id love if they made an actual remote but i never have seen one.
Thanks.

You could install XBMC for Android and use any XBMC remote on another PC/tablet/phone.
Usually people use XBMC remote on the tablet to control their media PC, but there is no reason, why it should not work the other way around.

There's probably some VNC options as well.

Yes, exactly, should work like a charm. With a good remote you should even be able to browse the library with fanart, info, watched status, etc. For Android I can recommend Yatse, but there are lots of others.
Just need to make sure the firewall settings on your tablet allow the remote to connect, but that is a common issue for any kind of remote control protocol.

Hmm, not sure, where your problem is. XBMC for Android is a fully featured XBMC version with audio and video support. Can even pull live TV over the network, if you run one of the supported backends somewhere.
It is doing much more than just controlling mxplayer. It turns your tablet into a full multimedia box.
Oh, you might have to point XBMC at the directories, where your videos are stored. It does not use the Android media manager. Somewhere in the "Videos" tab you should find an "Add source..." item.
Hope this helps!

I installed xbmc server (host) -free from the play store on my tf300t. It says in the description of the app one of its limitations is "only supports music and cover art". So I can connect to the app but i can't quite figure out how to add directories in the server app. Guess I have to find the documentation. Appreciate the help.

Ahh, no idea, what that XBMC server from the Play Store is...
Sorry, should have mentioned that the official XBMC for Android is not (yet) on the play store. Grab it from the XBMC web site. The latest Frodo version works well for me.

Maybe I could ask you if you know how to make the videos full screen from the xbmc app. It still shows the home and menu buttons of the tablet during playback. If I use mxplayer its full screen without issue. I went looking through the display menu but couldn't find what I needed.

Sorry, no idea. As videos typically have black bars anyhow, I didn't care too much.
I mean, even if the buttons are hidden, the video display does not get any bigger.

HUAWEI MATE 9 versus 55" Philips 55PUS7181 mirrorshare problem

Hello everybody,
I have bought new MATE 9 and i have discovered problem to connect it to my TV Philips 55PUS7181 via mirrorshare.
Both devices are connected to the same wi-fi, also googlecast function with youtube is working, but I cant connect it together via mirrorshare, that I can see mobile desktop on the TV.
It started to look for aviable devices, but my TV is not visible there. I have also tried to install some aplication from Google store for desktop sharing and there it is working, but connection is not stabil, for example video playing ist clicking.
I tried to ask Philips and Huawei customer service, but without answer.
Im really angry because I bought a phone for 700 Eur and i cant use it for sharing !
Has somebody the similar problem or can somebody help me ?
thanks a lot.

What exactly are you trying to Mirror? Videos to play from your phone or watch movies? Or are you trying to just show your screen to show pictures, etc? If it's videos, download Bubble UPnP. It works very well for casting. Click on the left pull down arrow where it shows Local Renderer and select your Phillips TV as default. Then try playing a video to cast.
I have same problem with Sony TV. 4k video have problem. Pictures show only black screen. Mirror screen when working not show in horizontal orientation. On my another phone Nubia Z11 works everything. Mate 9 very bad experience.

Yes it is Android smart TV Philips 55PUS7181.
Have the same problem with Sony Android Tv, using MirrorShare option from taskbar
Even if your Android TV says there are no updates available try opening the PlayStore and searching for 'Google Cast Receiver'. I did and sure enough there was an updated version.
This might be totally unrelated to your problem but it did fix some issues I was having casting from my Mate 9 to a brand new Sony Android TV.
Sent from my MHA-L29 using XDA Labs
Mate 9 definitely works with Chromecast protocol so if TV works with Android TV it should work
I have the same issue with a Philips 55PUS6561/12 TV and with a Huawei P9 phone. Youtube's Cast for example works perfectly fine, but the phone's Mirrorshare function cannot find my TV. Has anyone found a solution to this?

List of keyboard shortcuts

I am running MX Player on an Android TV stick (android 4.04). I have USB keyboard/mouse connected to it.
Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts? I pressed Control-P once, and it played some file.. I think Control-P is "Play last played file".... just guessing...
thanks.

Latest Pro app update broke app for Android TV. Possible workaround. (Oct. 25, 2019)

I just started up mx player to watch a few videos on my Sony TV with android TV and the app is not usable after the last update.
The app is now locked into portrait orientation and the directions inputs for navigation won't respond. The cursor is stuck on the button that used to be the settings menu, but with that menu gone, I can't access it to make any changes. It has basically become unusable with a remote.
I managed to find a workaround, but its not a permanent solution. I have a bluetooth keyboard with touchpad I can pair to my tv, so I was able to access the settings menu by starting a video. There was no way to change the list rotation or re-enable remote control inputs. But after exiting the video, the settings menu button reappeared and remote control navigation re-enabled. Restarting the app also reset the orientation detection to landscape.
I'm not sure why all this worked, but it seems to have made MX Player functional on Android TV again.
The same issue applies to Android tablets. Had to roll back to the previous version.
At Mi TV Box the same, mx Player pro opens in portrait mode.

Since last update (1.15.4), MX player Pro was not usable on my Sony Android TV
I have installed from your website site 1.15.5
Cool, the app is now in good orientation
Arggggg, the doesn't find any videos !!
For me even the latest download offered above has the player now fixed in portrait mode when not playing a video.
This does not work well for android TV.
