IR Remote control - Galaxy Note 10.1 Themes and Apps

There are quite a few apps out there that can turn the tablet into an IR remote control, but all apps I tried so far want to do very 'smart' things with channels and programs and so on. I just want a remote control that I can program myself. Does such an app exist?

Touchsquid! You'll prolly have to Google it tho

Try this it is a paid app but it sounds like it's exactly what you're after, I haven't tried it however just spotted it in play store

It is indeed a simple and seeming universal remote control. However, it is not programmable.
For example, when I want to play a video, I need the following commands:
* switch on TV
* switch on media player
* select input channel on TV
* menu controls go to the media player
* volume controls go to the TV

No worries thought you were just after a simple tvv remote, when you say media player your referring to a seperate machine aren't you like a ps3 for example not your tablet

Yes. In reality the situation is even more complex because I also have a power switch that needs to be switched on first and takes a second to switch on the power to the tv and media player (and other equipment).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Touchsquid+Technologies&hl=en
I use it on my Note 10.1 all the time

I tried to download Peel Europe, but instead of a download link you must register with AppsZoom and get an email with a download link. This link redirects to Play Store, but the app has been removed from the Play Store.
Did anyone manage to download Peel Europe? Where can I find it?

You can not ask for a link of a paid apk here.

Smart IR Remote - Samsung/HTC works great (search in market, can't post a link). It's a paid app, but it's worth it.

Touchsquid is best. You define profiles for activities and even program macros. Smart remote is nice too

If you just want a remote I recommend Smart IR Remote - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy

Alot of products has DLNA.
My Samsung tv has it. =)
check out dlna.org for more information
Installation fails because touchwiz library is missing. Either this lib must be ported also or must be removed from the app. Both are quite tricky I believe.

iMediaShare is not free if you expect to see anything but a photo...
Some great thread necromancy going on here!
Regards,
Dave
well, i have a need.. dlna explained more too
@dave agreed.
well, i'm looking to start doing this since i do have a need for an app like this and few others. if you have win7 and media center, you have DLNA support on your pc.
plus, ps3 media server can be used too. anywho, DLNA is a streaming protocol that most vendors/manufacturers introduced to allow one to stream video to various type of products (tvs, boxes, pcs, handhelds, etc).
this app lets you either Receive a stream from a DLNA server or Setup your phone as a DLNA server and then watch your videos/pics on your PS3 or Home PC's media player app.
ok, explaining done, does anyone know what the first steps of removing the touchwiz library would be or where i'd start?

You are right. Hadn't noticed that.
BTW, for those discussing the other side, PS3 and others, ALL Windows 7 computers are DLNA enabled. So if you have a Win7 Media Center connected to your TV, you can hear music, see photos and videos on your TV via Allshare.
Well, I add my vote for an HTC version of this thing.
Any Sense 2.0 and above Rom already has DLNA capability.
Just hit Menu -> Select player while watching a movie/photo/whatever.

Airplay for android

Is it possible to stream music using apple's airplay so we can use the cool docking stations with android too?
Yes we can!
But we have to use honeyplayer app. It can play just music on airplay devices. No video.
Maybe with another app we can play video? I dont know
Yeah that looks good thanks, but you can only play music files which are one your phone and with that (crappy) player, and not with for example PowerAmp. And TuneIn Radio won't work either :/

Androids are crazy
Actually, I use iMediashare as well and it will stream to any device that is on the same wifi singal as your phone. examples are ps3, xbox, wii, and even pc's.
I can watch any movie on my phone that is on my pc as long as im in wifi range.
I can play any movie or song from my phone on my tv via my ps3 or xbox. No additional software required. Just start imedia player on your phone, go to the movie section on your gaming device and select imediashare.
Actually the gaming system doesnt need to be on wifi. As long as it is connected to the router hardwired or wifi you can share media files with any other device connected to said router.I highly recommend this.
There is also software that will let you use your phone as a remote control for your tv or direct TV box, and remote view your pc. Teamviewer is also free. You can see a live image of your pc from anywhere and control it with a virtual mouse and keyboard all from your phone. Even turn it off.
Androids are crazy... lol
It still doesn't work for me. I will simply use a 3.5mm jack cable, thanks anyway

Will iMediaShare allow me to stream music from any app on android to an apple tv? I'm thinking specifically from rdio. This is a feature I really like on my iPhone, but I'm looking to jump to a Galaxy Nexus.
Does it support also subtitles in srt format?
Player for .MTS format
Hi!
For those of you that have been searching around for a player that supports the .MTS format (files from among them Sony videocameras), I found after some time the BS Player. It is a free application in the market that also supports hardware acceleration! Other players I have not found that supports this format, only converters.

No, you have to go into imediashare and it locates saved media on your device and streams it... it also has a couple dozens apps to stream from internally ... it may have radio come to think of it.

Nice j dee! I hate it when my youtube shuts off in the gym. Can't leave the screen on and put it back in my pocket
Come on peeps keep em coming. I like the list so far. It's small and precise not large and burgeoning. Let's go over something very relevant: STREAMING from your HD
Jbeans 4.2 Camera- Full Screen Camera (compared to 4.1.2) and gallery you could flash for your 4.1.2 phone
Mediahouse Player- An organized app that collects all the shared music videos off of shared directories on your computer use in conjunction with. Allows you to favorite directories/devices. Really neat app
mx player- easy ui can easily disable/enable hardware software encoding for audio and video during play
v player- like mxplayer, could be better with UI, but unlike MX player allows you to set buffer to a whopping 8mb...so longer initial load for video but plays back perfectly otherwise
ES file explorer- save network drives
I usually make the default player for ES v player and for media house mx player. Good setup. Mx Player allows you to manage defaults for video players in-app too. Another neat feature. Well worth the money for that app.
From the computer end there are a lot of options to stream (I made a post about this a while back...search on me) but I like PS3 Media server 1.70.1 for my PS3. It allows for real-time transcoding for devices where your video format (ie mkv) isn't available. I also install TVersity server on my computer end and both servers as well as the raw files allow me to wirelessly stream every tv show except for planet earth which has a ridiculous bitrate.
Only other thing to worry about on the computer end is to make sure your sharing settings etc are set up as openly as possible. I have a homegroup password and everyone in it is allowed to at least read my directories
Hey zetsui,
sure, I love my HOX and GNEX phones (by now even more than my PC) and why not participate in sharing cool underdog apps?
Is that Mediahouse player the one you can download from the Play Store? Sounds pretty usable to me

Way better than stock audio recorder. Can record as mp3 at 128kbit/s, good enough for me. Of course, you can increase it. Can record as ogg too.
Solid explorer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
Might be popular, but worth a mention anyway. Fast, free, full of useful features, no ads... Did I mention the slick ui?
Cpu adjuster
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.cputweaks
Like setcpu, but free. You can have 3 profiles in the free version. Ought to be good enough for beginners.
Also worth checking out: servers ultimate.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
These apps are in xda too, but play store linking is more convenient.
Advanced Touchpad Remote Control
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arcoid.advancedtouchpad&hl=en
Turns the phone's screen into a multitouch touchpad.
Perfect for Laptops with short HDMI cables.

Yes, exactly, should work like a charm. With a good remote you should even be able to browse the library with fanart, info, watched status, etc. For Android I can recommend Yatse, but there are lots of others.
Just need to make sure the firewall settings on your tablet allow the remote to connect, but that is a common issue for any kind of remote control protocol.

Hmm, not sure, where your problem is. XBMC for Android is a fully featured XBMC version with audio and video support. Can even pull live TV over the network, if you run one of the supported backends somewhere.
It is doing much more than just controlling mxplayer. It turns your tablet into a full multimedia box.
Oh, you might have to point XBMC at the directories, where your videos are stored. It does not use the Android media manager. Somewhere in the "Videos" tab you should find an "Add source..." item.
Hope this helps!

[Q] need help - need an app for controlling my laptop from Nexus 5

hello,
I am looking for Smart PC remote control. an app thru which I can control my pc (laptop - windows) thru my nexus 5. (for eg: control BS player while playing media files, control volume, etc etc etc)
pls suggest me best way to do this.
I don't use this quite often, but when I do, I just use team viewer to control my computer. Especially when I'm watching movies from a distance (too lazy to get up lol) as I don't have wireless mouse or board.

I would recommend using a descriptive thread title. Not many people respond to "Please help me" threads.
