Is it possible to stream music using apple's airplay so we can use the cool docking stations with android too?
Yes we can!
But we have to use honeyplayer app. It can play just music on airplay devices. No video.
Maybe with another app we can play video? I dont know
Yeah that looks good thanks, but you can only play music files which are one your phone and with that (crappy) player, and not with for example PowerAmp. And TuneIn Radio won't work either :/

Hi, do you know of any app that you could stream music from PC with Poweramp?
Actually, I use imediashare lite from the market... its free and I stream movies to my apple tv2 from my phone, play music through my speakers, its freakin great. No PC required, no extra programs to download... I don't know why anybody would use anything else...

I've already tried iMediashare, but my Bowers&Wilkins Zeppelin Air unfortunately isn't recognized. I just wanted to know.if.there is any tweak to stream all sound that would go through your speaker with airplay, so that you can use poweramp etc. too...

Androids are crazy
Actually, I use iMediashare as well and it will stream to any device that is on the same wifi singal as your phone. examples are ps3, xbox, wii, and even pc's.
I can watch any movie on my phone that is on my pc as long as im in wifi range.
I can play any movie or song from my phone on my tv via my ps3 or xbox. No additional software required. Just start imedia player on your phone, go to the movie section on your gaming device and select imediashare.
Actually the gaming system doesnt need to be on wifi. As long as it is connected to the router hardwired or wifi you can share media files with any other device connected to said router.I highly recommend this.
There is also software that will let you use your phone as a remote control for your tv or direct TV box, and remote view your pc. Teamviewer is also free. You can see a live image of your pc from anywhere and control it with a virtual mouse and keyboard all from your phone. Even turn it off.
Androids are crazy... lol
It still doesn't work for me. I will simply use a 3.5mm jack cable, thanks anyway

Will iMediaShare allow me to stream music from any app on android to an apple tv? I'm thinking specifically from rdio. This is a feature I really like on my iPhone, but I'm looking to jump to a Galaxy Nexus.
Does it support also subtitles in srt format?
Player for .MTS format
Hi!
For those of you that have been searching around for a player that supports the .MTS format (files from among them Sony videocameras), I found after some time the BS Player. It is a free application in the market that also supports hardware acceleration! Other players I have not found that supports this format, only converters.

No, you have to go into imediashare and it locates saved media on your device and streams it... it also has a couple dozens apps to stream from internally ... it may have radio come to think of it.

I'm trying to set up a VLC stream from my PC with all of my media to my phone. I'm hoping I can create a nice little media server with my 2TB of video so I can watch them any where, any time.
I can't find any new information for VLC on Android although I know the beta for the iPad was just released. Anyone know any more?
I've been looking for something like this as well, I've had no luck streaming anything. The only thing that has worked is orb and the quality sucks. I also had tversity running but its just to finnicky with x64 Windows 7. You may wanna try tversity if you have a atleast a core 2 machine running x86 xp.

There's no VLC for Android. The closest thing is RockPlayer and the built-in Browser/Video/Music player.
And VLC on your computer doesn't quite work that way, either. You can only have it set to be a streaming server (like an Internet radio/video station) and then watch/listen to that stream from your Browser. You can't control it unless you get a VLC remote app (search in the Market) at which point you'll have to disconnect from the stream to open the remote.
As for anything similar, there's plenty. I just don't know/use any.
checkout VLC Stream and Convert in the market. VERY COOL app. Allows you to control VLC on the PC from the phone, including stream video from the PC to phone. Even allows a basic browser to find the media. Video quality over wifi is great. Can't say I've tried streaming through the internet but I'd bet its pretty decent. Dev has a website with instructions
Ok i just tried this app and it works perfect.

I had the same problem on Fresh 3.2. If you can't get his lastest version of the app to work for you, then I pulled this apk off of a nandroid backup. It's of an older version that still works for me. (Still have to change port to 5554).
Also, per the developers warning, VLC 1.1.4 supposedly has audio streaming issues, so you'll probably want 1.1.3 also.
errr.. is it just me, or did somebody actually fire the people that made the AllShare app in the SGS and just took a bunch of their notes and incorporated the WORST ideas that other team had ever devised?
Ok, so AllShare wasn't a top-notch app in the SGS to begin with, but AllShare on the Tab is just a bad joke. Loading the list of files takes ~ x10 as much time as it takes on the SGS and then .. NO OTHER option to just display the files (ALL THE FILES) in alphabetical order, regardless of albums/folders however you had/wanted them to be ordered on the server... At least the SGS's version let's me browse folders. Tab's version just displays a HUGE list of files in alphabetical order, which is NOT really good for usage...
Are there any other apps to fill in that void? I mean there are DLNA servers left and right, but are there clients? That I could play videos (preferable support for dualaudio+subtitles) from my DLNA server?
Id like to know this as well... or indeed any client that will stream in full quality over the lan.
Me too ! Please write if you tryed some other DLNA client working on Samsung Galaxy Tab
I tried AndroMote. It works fine for me.

????
That's a Remote Control application, NOT a DLNA client as we talked about... At least I understood it so. (You can't watch movies from a DLNA server WITH THE TAB via AndroMote, can you?)
EDIT: Apparently it SHOULD be able, it just doesn't do that on my SGS. Will try on Tab later.
EDIT2: ARGHhh! Yeees, it does work - sorta. It needs to DOWNLOAD the WHOLE file over the connection to the device, THEN play it... with installed available applications, not within the app. so... NO, not really a suitable replacement. It's not really a DLNA media player, but a tool to download files from said server.
Nice to have, I guess, but not what I'm after.
You can do this with any lan file manager. I use Astro smb.

Which is all well and good as long as you're not watching anything decently HD or over 2GB in file size
I agree the AllShare app is aweful. I've found that ES File Explorer over SMB does a good job but neither the built in Video player or Rockplayer behave well with this. It only works if I turn off hardware decode in Rockplayer, which means it cannot keep up with the HD video demands.
UPnPlay in the market has a decent attempt via DLNA however it chokes on HD too.

Twonky looks good and is waaay faster than AllShare, but unfortunately is out of the question since it refuses to play .avi files (and mkvs and wmvs and and. I can't get it to play anything at all really. Don't have any mp4s around, I hear those should work...)
Also, I don't know if it had something to do with the server-side update (I use TwonkyManager v2 in a Win7 machine) but couple of days ago my "browse by folder" ability disappeared completely, no I can just browse everything by date of playlists, which isn't at all practical with folder-based organization...
I'm looking for a streaming solution too for the Tab. On the iPad I had the StreamToMe software running, and it would transcode the video on the fly, and stream to iPhone or iPad. Doesn't seem like there's similar solution on Android. I tried copying some of the movie file I have and it's just laggy to play even locally with vPlayer and RockPlayer. Anyone has a good solution?
Hi, noob here with his first thread. I've ordered my transformer with the dock and loved the idea of streaming from my laptop to my tablet but from the scarce reviews which I have read and seen the application doesnt work too well? Can any please look into this in a bit more detail and explain if it works or not?
many thanks
Not sure where you've seen it doesn't work well because I've got MyCloud up and running and was streaming music from my PC to my TF and had absolutely no probs. Smooth playback and only times it jumped were because my PC is having issues and was at stupidly high CPU usage. Other than that works a treat and even checked out a vid and looks to work really well too. Not worked out what I'd use MyNet for yet as couldn't get it working with my PC but seems to be for DLNA equipped devices as had a message to check DLNA devices so guess it's for streaming from the TF to a DLNA equipped TV or the likes.
Mycloud (Splashtop) works very well for me....I even played WOW a bit on my TF with the help of the docking stations, it's absolutely fine to do some simple daily quests on the TF..
ive never got it to stream videos smoothly. not sure if im doing something wrong but playing movies using mycloud is always choppy.

in one particular review the application simply fails to stream any of the files, although after doing some more digging i have seen it working. So is it a case of incorrect set up or does the tablet support only a limited number of file formats? i mainly use .avi and .mkv, wil these work??
I've used it to stream music to my Sony Bravia TV via DLNA and it works fine. I'll test some video once I get some onto the device and post results.

EDIT: youtube.com/watch?v=Zr8iBI_duJs this is the review i was referring to; skip to 3.30. again i dont know if he's got it set up properly but I saw this and began to worry!
Streaming to the tablet has no limitations with regards to file types, remember it's only displaying whatever's on the host so you can play anything your PC/laptop will play. Obviously if you're using your tablet as the host and streaming to your TV/PC/laptop etc then it's completely reliant on what the TF can do. I guess choppy playback and issues are all down to setup and quality of the network. If you have a good setup you'll not have any issues with streaming any files. I have a fairly basic setup with all devices on a WiFi N network and runs well enough

Hi guys
Im trying to find a app than can help stream movies and view other files on my PC. I havent had any luck so far and i tried searching but didnt end up with anything that feels simple enough?

here's what you do... first figure out what your static ip for your router is... try going to http://www.whatismyip.com/ this should tell u what your ip is... now go into your router... normally by typing 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 depeding on your router... now open up ports 6783 to 6786 in TCP mode (these numbers may change due to your settings in MyCloud Software) now go and manually set up a new connection using the static IP you got from the website and everything should work!!!!!

And just to add clarification, splashtop is a remote desktop tool not a media streamer as such, although as people have said depending on your connection it works just as well as one.

I'm not sure what you mean. I also use upnp and moboplayer and works great. Moboplayer can't stream from the network and mynet does not play any codec other than h.264. With upnp and moboplayer, I don't have to worry about what type of video/audio file it is.
I've been using Upnplay and Mobo player and that combo works great for files served by a media server. I would also like to play files directly from a network share without needing the media server. CifManager sounds perfect except it appears to require root. Any similar options that don't require root? Any other apps that would allow a network drive to be permanently mapped as a folder on the tablet?

First media sharing needs to be set up on your desktop (Google can help with this part) then as long as you are connected to the same home network as your desktop it will show up in upnplay just like it does in mynet (its name will be the set name of the PC). Then you can navigate via libraries or just via the folder paths to find your media files (this is how I do it to avoid setting up libraries). Once u have found your media file run the file using moboplayer/vplayer/etc. This will only work for video.
Hope that helps..

I play all my media via XBMC, so XBMC Remote works perfectly for that.
I would recommend using a descriptive thread title. Not many people respond to "Please help me" threads.
