I've got my hands on the 8GB RAM / 256GB ROM White Ceramic edition.
So I made a quick unboxing and hands-on in 2K resolution and 60FPS:
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YS0VWGq3y0
Any questions? I have the device and I'm happy to answer.
I'll do an in depth review after 1 week of usage.
I've seen a few people specifically mention "ceramic edition", but I though all variants were ceramic this time?

Probably true, I was also confused. In end of March I was reading news regarding the 6GB vs. 8GB variants, and the Chinese websites keep saying the 8GB variant was specifically ceramics. I think in the end all variants are ceramic, but it added to the confusion. Is anyone with a 6GB variant able to confirm this?
Are you using the Global version? I've seen some reviews (with the Chinese version) and it seems video recording sound is pretty bad, also for in-call audio. Could you confirm?
Also, I think it comes with a case, right? How is it? Does the camera still stick out with the case?

I got the 6gb variant and it's ceramic too, as far as I know the special ceramic variant is just less shiny

I like your video but had to turn off sound, because the music was beyond awful. Next time, please choose something neutral. Classical always works.

Thanks. Unfortunately for monetized videos the selection of music is very limited due to copyright problems. Almost all classical music is copyrighted, so I did a quick search on copyright free background beats and took the first one.
Next time I may simply speak instead of having music. But English is not my native language, and I hate my voice =)
Thanks for the feedback

I appreciate your sentiment, but there may be misunderstanding here. All classical music (not neo or modern but old school) is public domain and not copyrighted, because classical music has been created more than 70 years ago. Certain performances by certain artists may be copyrighted, but the vast majority of classical music is completely free to use. Moreover, and this is a guess but I think a good guess, automatic algorithms by Youtube couldn't distinguish between royalty free and copyrighted classical music.

Thanks. I meant the performances of course which are under copyright. I do sampling and beat production in my free time and had to hire a sample Clearance service for the songs i sold.
Moreover i cater to a very homogeneous target audience which isn't really into classic music. Currently a lot of tech channels are using "casey neistat type beats". That's exactly what i did in my video. Sorry if it didn't fit your taste, next time I simply usey voice instead of music. Haha
Fair enough.

Well, I got mine fairly overpriced, but instantly, when going to MBK in Bangkok. There's one shop that imports Xiaomi and other brands form China and sells them here. They had exactly one White 256GB variant... Black was available for 100 USD less.

My Mix2S was 6GB /128GB, it's white ceramic. It looks like yours, there's silver aluminium frame as well.
I'd got mine from MBK too.
Well, I'm sure I overpaid as well, but I went cheap. 6gb of ram and 64 of storage. Which is enough for me. In black.
720ish CAD from gearbest. Global version.
I can confirm that at least with my carrier Koodo (same as Telus) I get LTE and LTE+ (although it shows accurately as 4G and 4G+)
It's nice, but I wish the face recognition and Google assistant were working properly.

Dunno what to tell you, it's working on my variant.
Google assistant won't work from a locked screen, only when the screen is on, which is lame.

Well, global version just means that it supports most of the existing bands around the world, but the other variants do still support quite a few. Perhaps what you have is not a global version, but it still supports the bands that you need. Why did you say that yours was global, was it advertised as global?
I'm not an expert on Google Assistant but I have played with it quite a bit on previous phones and on my current Pixel XL. I may be able to help, if luck has it, to troubleshoot your particular problem. What are you trying to do and what isn't working, precisely?

It WAS advertised as global version. It comes with the global rom, with Google play and all that.
Maybe it is some other version that they flashed with the global rom, is there a way to check?
For the assistant. While it's sitting on a table, screen off. I say OK Google, and nothing happens. It's supposed to light up and let me talk to the assistant.
My LG G6 does it fine.
Also, I can't find the settings for face unlock.

I honestly don't know if there's an easy way to check aside from trying the phone with a carrier that is supported on global but not on others. Perhaps through some logcat info or maybe there's an app, I don't know. Maybe another user could answer.

The phone definitely should have hardware to use lower power microphone to listen to voice commands with screen off. That is a standard feature of the 845 chipset. It may be disabled, though I doubt it. Are you sure you set it up correctly? I had a whole helluva time setting up a brand new Galaxy S9 today, but trying to do the opposite of what you want - no voice recognition with screen off, but voice recognition with screen on. The settings were buried by Google, and it took a few minutes to find them.
UPDATE: BTW, there must have been a very recent Google Assistant update recently, because things are now behaving differently from what I remember. You might want to try to experiment setting up the assistant and turning it off several times over to get the proper behavior - I just tried to set up my Pixel XL assistant 30 seconds ago and I couldn't. Gonna play with it myself.
As for face recognition, it's like this:
Settings/Security & Location/Smart Lock/Trusted Face. In your firmware, "Security & Location" may be "Security and Lock screen" or something similar.
Update 2: I can no longer set up Google Assistant with this new software the way it used to work with old software . Even though I did it today on the S9.
I am baffled... maybe bugs?
Here's what you need to do though for your goal.
Settings/Google/Search/Voice/Voice Match --- enable "Access with Voice Match," enable "Unlock with Voice Match." You should be set.
Yeah, I'll play with the assistant some more. I am aware of how to set it up, but I'll play a bit with it.
I literally don't have that option for face unlock. If I remember correctly, that's the Google version. I thought xiaomi had their own version built in, maybe something they left out of the global rom?

The global rom is not yet available on the Xiaomi website, so we cannot say whether it's bugs and missing features yet. The fact that you don't have the "Trusted Face" option in Google settings or the Xiaomi variant of this feature makes me think that you have an incomplete rom that will probably be updated to rectify these issues in the future.
Hello Nex-Fans,
Vivo has announced the first OS update for our device which improves the overall, the game, camera and fingerprintscanner performance.
Source:
Gizchina
Thanks! I suppose we will get that automatically (when checked in update settings), but thanks anyway for notifying it here.
Despiter updates(there's even newer update than those at first page) the underscreen display scanner remain problematic according to fresh reviews from android authority.
https://www.androidauthority.com/vivo-nex-review-875140/
Hopping retail unit perfom better.
Saw many reviews and tests on YouTube and nobody has mentioned such problems with the Fingerprintscanner. I think this will be a "Pre-Release-Device" problem.

Damn that's a really scathing review especially re. the software and OS. Makes me kind of disinterested tbh, because the UX sounds like a ****ing hassle
I'm not so negative ... In my opinion it's a very early stage of the device and i think some points are related to the Pre-Release-Device he has. On the software side i think it's only a question of time until there are some other options.
I have a Zuk Z2 Pro and know what i'm talking about. The ZUI interface was only crap but now it's running AOSP Android 8.1 and i'm really really happy with the device. It's better then my S8 was.
Yes but the kicker is as always, does the bootloader get unlocked... I don't know about Vivo and their practices on this.
I actually received my second update on my Nex already... and while the fingerprint reader can be finicky it has worked well (one thing that helped was adding both thumbs 2times)

I got the update a day or two ago as well.....
Any idea (translation) of what it actually encompassed?
only thing i have noticed a improvement on is the Fingerprint reader(seems much more consistent) , the camera seems to focus better and give slightly better results. Also the three bars at the bottom of the home screen are at the absolute bottom now and much wider.

I go back and forth seemingly daily. I lust for the hardware, it is to me the next step on the path to OLED in-display cameras, but that bizarre Android iOS clone nonsense they have going on is pushing me away. Funtouch sounds like a waking nightmare.
I currently have a Mi Mix 2, and already the rumor mill is in full swing re. the Mix 3. Google Mi Mix 3 and check out some early leaks, they are rumored to follow the Nex style. Admitted MIUI is not all that great either, but at least Xiaomi is a bit more dev friendly on releasing the kernels etc. And sorry for the hijack

Redmi 5A and Note 4, both have Dt2w, and they both run MIUI.
I bought this phone specifically because it didn't have MIUI on it.
Stock Android, unlockable bootloader. It's the first phone I've had that gets security updates too.
I've had it for a few months now and I still love it.
MIUI suck, give so many features that u might never use.
Those features consume CPU and battery, while stock Android has lesser feature but any feature you want you can just get them from PlayStore.
My last Xiaomi phone (Mi 4i), became super laggy until cannot unlock the screen.
Turn out it was MIUI fault because it became normal again after I flashed it with custom ROM.
From my point of view it's the perfect Android terminal.
I only miss one feature from MIUI : Scheduled turn on and off :crying:

Try flight mode, almost zero consumption. -+1%/night
This phone absolutely lives up to its price point of the $159 I purchased two of them at. Great screen, great battery life, decent processor that can handle mostly everything except high end gaming, metal body, 2 of 3 American LTE bands for T-Mobile, FM radio, IR blaster, security updates monthly with Android One. MIUI is a dumpster fire and if you wanted MIUI you should've bought a Redmi.
It's a great phone.
I'm still wondering why so many people who prefer MIUI over stock android bought the A2 Lite instead of the Redmi 6 Pro which is even cheaper. Personally, I wouldn't even touch a MIUI phone with a pair of pliers.

I bought this smartphone right after it was available version 4/64. Which rom did you use? Does it support gcam?
All the news this week is referring to a Snapdragon 888 and 8Gb ram P12 Pro. Do we think the 870 2021 Xiaoxin will ever receive an International ROM?
I've got one in the mail and thinking I may have made a big mistake. Its main use will be netflix and Disney+ and I wanting to take advantage of Dolby Vision.
Can't say for sure about Disney+, but I have no issue playing Netflix Videos on Full HD downloaded from Play Store.
In case you're wondering, I installed Play Store with an APK downloaded from APK Mirror and it seems to work out of the box.
The only thing i didn't like about the tablet is it disables notification for each app by default and set battery optimization option on by default on newly installed app which could affect some things like notifications. Other than that, this tablet is a satisfying multimedia powerhouse
Edit: Also i set Dolby option to "Movie" and it sounds wonderful.
Well this is promising. Is yours the 2021 version? Did you update any software and just use out of the box?
Does it have widevine 1? I've seen reports of it dropping back to 3?
I guess you have to have the ultra subscription (which you may not have) but did you notice if Netflix offers Dolby Vision?
I'll be steaming most my content via plex so as long as that works well I guess it won't be a total loss if Disney+ and Prime aren't in FHD HDR.
I have Plex, Tubi, Locast, Peacock and Kodi on mine and no issues with any of them. This is the best tablet I have ever owned. Even Starmaker (Karaoke app) works well with Bluetooth headset.
Great news. Mine arrives next week I'll report back.
Looking forward on catching up on some of the latest series from the comfort of my bed!!
Also going to give moonlight a go to try and game stream my pc from downstairs.
I've got mesh WiFi-6 so hopefully it'll work well.
Hi!!!
i have an issue. i got on a spending spree and ordered the tablet. first of all it is not as bright as i expected and i paid lot for it (due to VAT) i have GOOGLE PLAY
but here is my problem?
how to check for HDR?
NETFLIX doesn't support HDR for this tablet (only for p11 pro...)
should i get prime video?
do you have HDR?
If you updated via the update when you first boot you've lost widevine 1. Download DRM off the play store and it'll tell you your current level (it's 1 out of the box).
Out the box the tablet does FHD on Netflix with no HDR as you say. Prime video is SD and a waste of time.
Just got to hope for an international ROM or else you've got a great tablet which is limited by its software.
I'm doing everything via plex and its working well.

I'm sort of in the same boat. If you're just using it for media the P11 Pro has the better software.
However if we get a proper international release and firmware it'll be worth it still.
The P12 Pro talk at the moment referees to a Snapdragon 888 processor so I'm not holding my breath.
I'm lucky really despite having amazon prime, disney+ and Netflix subs I'm having to torrent the Dolby Vision versions of the stuff I want to watch to my plex. It's a ball ache having to do it, but at least I've not wasted my money.

i expected at least better brightness.
if i had gotten the p11 pro i would have saved 200 euros........... + vat
I must have got lucky as I didn't have to pay any import charges so it cost me £350 delivered which is a very good price for the hardware.
Shame there's not a bigger scene on here supporting custom roms etc.

i paid 400 euros + 150 for import charges... the p11 pro would have been 420 total...

Where did you get it from? Mine was from Giztop but I paid for express shipping.
I also bought mine from Giztop, £435 delivered, including the keyboard case.. pretty good deal if you ask me.
Havent updated base firmware to avoid losing the widevine L1 as everyone is referencing.. but am also hoping we eventually get a global rom for it.
I've done more digging on this. I've updated and still have widevine level 1.
Pretty happy with it overall. One stuck pixel though
If an international rom doesn't come out I'm possibly going to pick up an S7+ second hand when their new one launches.
so you could order this with international rom?

Yeah that's the 2020 version. We're talking about the 2021 version which does not have an international version.
Hi All,
I am currently an owner of a Xiaoxin Pad Pro 11 (2021). I'm happy with the performance but not the screen. I thought I would take the gamble and go for a Xioxin 12.6 as it has a newer AMOLED screen vs the 90hz OLED on my current one. The near black crush is terrible and I really do use it for quite a lot of media consumption.
Anyways. To the main point of the thread. The P12 pro is already listed on Lenovo UK site with 6gb RAM 128 SSD. The Xiaoxin is 8GB 250GB.
When I flash the international firmware from Rescue and Smart Assistant it is already listing a P12 Pro TB0Q706F with two HW Codes 16 or 19. Any clue which I would flash? I'm guessing the higher one is more likely the 8GB ram version?
Also the P12 pro is already listed on the netflix compatibility site for Dolby Vision. Once I flash the international version should Netflix see my tablet as a P12 Pro vs a Xiaoxin?
I know it's very early days but i'm hoping people can apply knowledge from earlier Lenovo tablets here.
Hi!
I also placed an order for this one, expecting it any day now. Exciting! To your question about HDR and DOLBY VISION on Netflix etc, I don't think there is much hope for that since it will probably still be the "prc" version after flashing the ROW ROM. But you never know!

My Xiaoxin Pad 12.6 arrives in the next day or 2 as well. Hoping the newer Samsung AMOLED doesn't suffer from blurry text as the OLED on the 11.
Did you flash the global rom to your Pro 11 and have use of Netflix in HD? Or did that have netflix hd capability out of the box?

Did they never solve that on the 2020 P11 Pro?
I figured as the hardware was the same it wouldn't know any different. Bummer

I've not received it yet. However my current tablet works with play store and you can download netflix no issue. Fingers crossed it will flash to a version netflix recognises for Dolby Vision.

From what I have read they never solved that, didn't get the same Build Fingerprint on the Xiaoxin as the P11 Pro, showed up in DRM Info as tb-j706f_prc instead of tb-j706f. Unfortunately I read all that AFTTER I placed the order on the 12.6, having no experience with Lenovo tablets from before. So I think there is very little hope for Netflix Dolby vision but it will still be a very pleasant tablet I assume.
OK same boat.
I'm not sure if the 2020 Xiaoxin has access to the play store etc out the box but the 2021 does. I can even download Netflix/Disney+ direct from the Google store now. Perhaps there's a change in stance.
All we can do at this point is keep our fingers crossed and hope what ever the 12.6 changes to when flashed to a P12 is recognised by Netflix.

The Xiaoxin Pad Pro 11 is an absolute beast from a hardware perspective. If you can use plex etc you really won't miss netflix all that much. Don't get me wrong it's a bummer having to torrent programs I already pay for a sub for but it's not the end of the world.
As long as the P12 Pro had a screen that handles near black better it'll be a fantastic tablet.
@mardon85
My Xiaoxin 12.6 arrived today. Widevine L1 certified, Netflix is working in full HD and HDR 10 and dolby vision is supported. I had to sideload netflix, it doesn't appear in the play store. Also I had an OTA update which didn't affect these results.
That's great news! So Netflix with Dolby Vision out of the box with ZUI 13? Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning

Yup. Play store was preinstalled, probably by Giztop? AMOLED is amazing, 120hz by default and text is sharp. Good improvements over the previous models.

I can also verify Netflix HDR + Dolby Vision in FHD. On HBO Max I can play Dune in 4K Dolby Vision but everything else is only FHD, weird? Amazon Prime: FHD, Dinsey Plus: FHD.
I agree that the screen is really great. 4K HDR content on Youtube looks as good as on my LG CX OLED TV.
I also had to sideload Netflix, and Play Store was installed, the plastic wrapping had been removed from the box. But I see why they do that, it's a little frustrating downloading Play Store from the native App Store app with everything in Chineese (Which I did after a factary reset).
I can verify that there is no GPS, I think it's only for the 5G models. In DRM Info it shows up as TB-Q706F-PRC in the Build Fingerprint as expected. Everything seems to be working fine so far. The only bug I've seen so far is that drop-down menys in Chrome is not working.
So who will be first to flash the ROW ROM? I don't have much experience there so I would prefer to let someone else give it a go first.
Oh and wifi 5GHz is limited to some specific channels, I had to reconfigure my router.

No, its my first Lenovo tab.
I'll follow this thread to see what results guys get with the international rom.
Someone's uploaded a first impressions video :
So... got too tempted and could not wait so I tried to flash it, the flashing process seems to go fine but the tablet tells me after that it's corrupt and then later it's stuck in the "Fastboot mode meny" (I don't know whats it is called but you know what I mean), cant to anything from there it just restart and go back there.
Any ideas?

What process did you try via the Lenovo Recovery software or the 3rd Party App where you have to install the qualcom USB drivers first as used on other posts here?

So... I'm new to this. I tried first with the Lenovo Recovery tool, it flashed without problems but got stuck in fastboot. Then I tried Qfil where I also get a "Success", but corrupt device and stuck in Fastboot. Tried Qfil many times with some different settings.
I upgraded ZUI before all this, so the ROW firmware was older than what I had on the tablet, if that matters.
Tbh it sounds like you've tried everything I would have unfortunately.
There's a bloke at this link who explains the process quite clearly. Maybe it'll help?
China Tablets to recommend
it also took me a few tries to get it. so afraid of bricking it. Totally right... sigh... but now Vanced YouTube isn't working for me... can install but cannot connect to my Google account... EDIT: Found a solution on Reddit - disable Chrome under Apps & Permission, then log in to Google...

Seems odd both methods fail. Does the lenovo route download from their server or ask you to provide a rom?
