Does LG V50 support LDAC audio codec? - LG V50 ThinQ Questions & Answers

I was thinking of buying this phone, until I realized it "presumably" doesn't support the LDAC audio codec [Info from bluetoothcheck.com]. I want to know from an actual user, is this true? Because, I saw on YouTube, that for someone else it actually did work.
Any answers will be appreciated!

Why would you buy this phone to use with wireless earphones?

Well, mostly I would use the headphone jack, but, occasionally, at the gym or while running, it's more convenient to use bluetooth earbuds (And, I don't mean some kind of a mid tier ones, I would be using 1MORE ANC Pro EHD9001BA)

Alright, thanks for clarifying!

Cool I've been using the DTS:X thing for my bluetooth speaker...pretty good

I can confirm LDAC works with my Sony 1000XM3 headphones on both the V50 and G8.

I have also tried the the DTS:X feature on my LG V35, but for me, particularly, on wide instrumental or detailed (heavy metal, etc.) genre songs, it interferes too much with the sound equalization. Therefore, I like to keep it flat and original, but I understand the appeal/it's a personal preference.:good:

Information for people who have LDAC headphones and cannot turn on this mode, and in Developer Options they have "Bluetooth Audio LDAC Codec: Playback Quality" greyed out
Applies to Android 11
You have to go to Settings-> Connected devices-> Bluetooth-> select the device - enter its settings (gear on the right) -> Connection type and change from Most stable on Best sound quality.
From now on, if the device supports - you can choose LDAC or AptX HD, which are inactive by default, because the phone pairs devices by default in "Most stable" mode.

Hello, I have the same problem on another device. For some reason, the "connection type" option accessed by clicking the gear isn't available on all devices.
I managed to make it show up on the WH-1000XM3, but I don't know how, and know that I'm using another similar device (Fiio UTWS5 for the curious), I'm stumped as to HOW access this option.
I did however, successfully forced aptX (not HD though) codec through developer options, but that's it.
May you help a noob?
Thanks!

Strange Question.

HTC U11 Bluetooth Audio Quality Issue on Android 8.0

Hi, last week I installed the OTA Android 8.0 update on my HTC U11.
Since this update the audio quality when streaming to my car's audio system or to my pioneer hi-fi system at home is a lot worse than on Android Nougat. Especially on tracks with a lot of high tunes. There's always a slight 'clink' noise. I don't know how to explain this in English..
Have you noticed this issue as well? Is there something I can do about it? Thanks
question are you using any sound mods?

Same for me. Since this update, the quality of phone call when connected to Bluetooth to my car is really bad. No problem with music stream connected to the same car.
I tried managing the new bluetooth options in developper mode menu but it doesn't solve the problem.
The codec used is all the time SBC even is I change it to AAC or aptX or AptxHD.

I have the same issue, it seems it was fixed in 42 version for US market(at least for LDAC)
I have 2 issues with Bluetooth connections with the car. The first is that it picks up interference from the noise of the wheels and engine while driving, and the sound quality suffers and it sounds unclear, unless I mute the vehicle.
The second is that it has a lot of trouble connecting to the car at times. Or, more often, it would not connect the media through the car. Don't know what's up with that.
I know how you feel
I've got exact same problem like yours. Although I'm using HTC u11 plus. My new pair of Bluetooth headphones have the same not OK audio quality. You're right especially the high tunes. I'm desperate, trying to reset everything, but doesn't help. If you find the solution, please let me know. Thank you.

Same issue here. I have the U11 as well and just updated to Oreo and I have the same issue as well. Music over BT was ok on Nougat but after the update, music sounds as if there is digital clipping. And it's there with both my headset and car audio system.
Got the same issue, hope they fix it soon. The only solution seems to do a RUU right now.
Btw. I am on a custom rom (LeeDroid), gonna go full stock and try again.
I would suggest looking in developer options and trying some of the different options for bluetooth in there!
Settings > about > software information > more > then tap the build number till it says you are a developer.
Then
Go to developer options and check under networking, there are some settings to toggle in there.
You may find something you are looking for! I personally haven't tried bt since the update so I don't know if it is a common issue. Good luck!
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
Playing around with the bluetooth options in the developer's menu solved this issue.
The audio quality through bluetooth is now pretty much the same as it was with the previous android os

Share what settings you stuck with so it may help the other people with the same problem
Hey there!
Same problem for me since updating my U11 to Oreo - very poor bluetooth audio quality...
I tried using different bluetooth settings under the developer options but the thing is: no matter what I choose, it keeps switching back to the default values not affecting anything at all.
If it switch back to default SBC it means your headset/BT device doesn't support other codec.

That's not necessarily true. On 7.1 both Bluetooth devices which I use can support either AAC, SBC and aptX. My understanding is this issue occured because of the removal of AVRCP 1.3. I think Google added 1.3 back to Android 8.q because of this.

Yours is not necessarily true either. I'm on 8.0 and I can still use aptX if I want but only if my BT device supports aptX.

I'm not arguing that aptX and other codecs aren't working on 8.0. What I'm saying is that with certain devices, we are no longer seem to be able to use certain codecs that we could use prior. It's obviously device dependent, but to say their isn't a problem and blame it on the Bluetooth device is incorrect. Infact the same problem has occurred on non HTC devices when they've upgraded to 8.0 such as the OnePlus.

Fair enough, I didn't understand.
Does anyone know how to make the bluetooth options under developer options stick? I'm on stock unlocked Oreo, and they go back to defaults as soon as I change them. I've tried changing them whilst connected in the car, but no change. The only thing that could make a difference is that I'm running Pitch Black Substratum theme. Anyone else got them to stick?
In my Audi a3 2015 before oreo i can able to skip the track with entertainment commad and in the display i saw name of the track. After update i have lost all funtionality and the car see my device only like esternal suorce . Can i do something?

Developer options Bluetooth settings don't stick

I've been experimenting with the Bluetooth options in developer options, but every time I change them, they change back to the default settings.
Has anyone any help on how to make them stick?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I've experienced this as well. I believe by design, you must first have an audio device paired and connected before changing these settings, and even then, when doing so, the BT device must be capable of such settings. As an example, when my BT headphones are connected, I can set the DEV option to a lower than 24 bits "per sample" but not higher. All the settings here depend on the hardware in use and whether it is capable of the setting. ->Then when disconnected, the dev options return to their default settings. -But they should return when re-connected.
-hope this helps to at least get the discussion ball rolling.

^ The above is definitely not true. At least not for everyone. I have a galaxy note 9 and I've tried connecting headphones as well as a pair of edifier speakers. Nothing except AVRCP version sticks, and that sticks whether I have a bluetooth device connected or not. Everything else does not stick, even though both devices are of course capable of aptX and 48khz and 24b/s. In fact the speakers are intended for 48khz 24b/s, it causes audio stuttering if I have anything else. No matter what I do, everything just defaults to SBC, 44.1khz, 16b/s. It's clearly broken and has been for like 3 versions of android OS lol. Every android phone I've ever had has had this problem too. So clearly it has nothing to do with the hardware you're connected to, since all the devices I've connected are intended for aptX, 48khz, 24b/s. And I don't think it has anything to do with the phone's hardware either, since I used to use an essential phone which is advertised as being intended for aptX HD use with the "TIDAL" app. They gave me a 3 month free trial to this service and said it output high fidelity audio via aptX HD. But no, the essential phone's bluetooth developer options behaved in exactly the same way. I've tried a lot of other things as well, so I'm pretty sure this UI element is either just fundamentally broken, or is intentionally locked from the user, presumably for some patronizing reason

Apt-X included? Can anyone *confirm*?

Apt-X support for bluetooth audio requires a license that the manufacturer has to shell out for.. In the past my Moto phones all had it.
It is a very important feature for me (I'm well invested into the protocol) so it would be hugely helpful if someone with an Apt-X, Aptx-LL or Aptx-HD bluetooth audio device could try pairing it, and then in the bluetooth settings for that device see if it offers a "Use high quality audio: aptX" option.
Sadly, this sort of thing is often left off the spec-sheet.
It can co-exist with bluetooth 5.0 but it seems like some manufacturers are choosing to skip Apt-X when they move to bluetooth 5.0+, which is fine if you have a new bluetooth 5.0 device to use with it, but I'd like to not have to replace everything I've got all at once just to get decent audio out of a new phone.
Huge thanks to anyone able to help.
Did you ever find out if the Moto stylus supports aptx or aptx hd?
It's supported

Question Ldac codec

Hi, Can i use LDAC codec with s22 ultra and Sony WF-1000XM4 ? In the developer options i can't, even if I select LDAC, it remains on AAC ? Any ideeas please ? Thanks a lot
You don't need to go to developer options. Open Bluetooth settings, find the XM4, tap the settings wheel and select LDAC codec (you need to have the headphones connected to activate this option)
That stumped me as well when I first tried activating LDAC as well on my Soundcore Liberty 3 earbuds. xsam123 is correct
Perfect, it works ! Thanks !
Hi!
If you have any other problems with LDAC, even with using developper option, don't waste you time any further.
(I've spent so much time to correct the issue in this way)
Developer solution's won't work.
And you'll not have the choice to enable LDAC in Bluetooth normal user setting
Reboot your Xiaomi with hard reset.
Everything will become clear and operational.
LDAC Choice will appear correctly again.
Best regards
Be sure HD audio is enabled as LDAC codec in the bluetooth device info, in the bluetooth connection app.

Question Bluetooth interference in public places when other BT devices are around

Hi everyone,
I have paired my OP 9 with my Cambridge Audio Melomania Touch Bluetooth earphones as soon as I got the phone, about eight months ago.
The phone has received several updates and upgrades in the meantime, but an issue has surfaced recently, as the title indicates: when I'm in a public place and there are other BT devices around, the music playing from the phone into my earphones suffers interruptions and distorsions, as if the phone was trying to pair with those devices, or maybe the Melomania Touch, I don't know.
I'd tend to think it's the phone, because I've had those earphones for about two years now, and with my previous phones (Xiaomi/Poco, Samsung), I never had such an issue. Once paired, the devices would deliver a solid, steady sound, with the occasional hiccup if the phone was in my pant pocket and I turned my head in the opposite direction, but that was it.
With the OP 9, however, every time I'm on the bus or the tram, or even waiting at the bus stop and a car passes by, I hear an interruption in sound delivery and I know the car in question had BT enabled.
In the Bluetooth settings, I've unchecked the option to make my phone visible by other devices, and in the Developer options, I've limited the number of devices the phone should try to connect to to 2, the Melomania Touch (it used to be 3, the third device being a Sony WH-700 BT headset I have at home, but I cleared it from the list).
I don't see any other settings to play with to make this inconvenience go away, and the Melomania Touch app doesn't offer any option either. The earphones are set to deliver max performance (not Low Energy BT).
I'm counting on you guys on this one!

Hi and thanks for taking the time!
Yes, HD Audio is enabled, though I found it in the Developer options. BT options are pretty basic on this phone, if you ask me, but sound quality is really good, especially with those earphones.
