Hello everybody. Sorry for my English. I need do a system ip cameras in my home because my housemaid is stealing me. So. Im using different moto g : 2 moto g(2013) 1 moto g(2014) and 2 moto g (2015).
I could use all phone successfuly but Im having problems with a moto g 2015 (I don't tried with the other 2015 still). I need used the phone with out case and screen. And with this model I can't start with out screen. And them, when I connect it, it start with the wiif turns off. When I turn on the phone is restarting constantly.
My system is that I control the phone with out screen with airdroid, and I power it with a 12v of the alarm wires. So, what I can do? It is possible with I change the kernel or the room? (I don't have any problem with the moto g1 and 2)
I changed the rom to lineage os and it improve. The wifi don't turn off, and I connect with it with airdroid for few minutes. But them it start to restart. I don't know for what is it.

I can't say about pre PIE versions as I didn't bother with any custom roms until Android Pie on these phones as I got my Moto G3 in 2018 as a cheap Spare phone.
If you see my other thread/post I'm running 3 different CHIL360 roms and they all work fine on my ARM<32 bit>(not 64 bit) 1 gig Ram XT1541.
Latest Lineage 10 works fine with up-to-date security patches
Latest AOSP Pizza Android 9 works fine(April 2020 Security updates). I'm back using it for now as I get bored<grin>
And Havoc Android 10 3.4 but not the latest 3.5 as the FM radio doesn't work

Hi guys!
I've got these two amazing phones and I'd like to show you two tests on the same wifi net, both phones with 5ghz WIFI, on the same desk where I have router, test done in two takes (not concurrently). The lower performance is from Oneplus One.
Do you know why I have these differences? Maybe it's because of the different wifi drivers between CyanogenOS 13.1.2 and LineageOS 14.1?

There's actually difference( a lot) on every aspect and not just on OPO.But I sincerely don't know if there's a difference b/w lineage and cyanogen as of now, maybe lineage will do some changes later when they set-up everything.
5ghz Lineage OS official OPO on a 100Mbps up and down network.
Ur OPO was conmected to 2.4ghz for sure. Thats why it capped out on the download side

Flash lineage os on OPO, then try it yourself. I believe OPO antennas are weaker than average smartphones cause I'm always on low signal than other guy using xaiomi or etc.

I've never changed firmware to OPO, I've bought it used few days ago. I believe I have to root it first, then change the recovery and (maybe?) unlock the bootloader. Then would it be possible to do a backup of the actual CyanogenOS 13.1.2 to restore it, if I won't stay with 14.1?
No you can't do a backup before rooting, but you can always follow a back to stock guide if you want to go back to CmOs 13

Ur "issue" is beyond the OS since till a week ago i was on COS13.1.2. And wifi preformed the same has it does now on lineage. Just works good! Maybe do a network reset under settings, reboot, check ur router settings and confirmu are connected to 5ghz and getting a good link speed

lol... Your inexperience is showing here. The Moto X getting Nougat has nothing to do with Android O, we will get it within the next few months but it will likely be our last upgrade.
Other newer Moto devices will get O, probably towards the end of the year or early next year.
If you want consistent, regular updates and constantly be on the latest and greatest then buy a Pixel. End of story, nothing else will get you better.

What are you talking about? There are literally dozens of Nougat ROMs in the forums. I am currently running Resurrection Remix and their ROM is pretty stable on 7.1.1. I haven't had any issues with it and it's super smooth and fast. Try it!

I somewhat agree with you. Am on latest Lineage build with boot.img fix and everything is working fine.
But you can't argue against, "Stock Moto is best Moto."
Moto's stock ROM usually have best performance and battery life.
P.S: They improved battery life in Soak Test. There's very little battery drain when phone is idle. Also the phone doesn't get heat up much when multitasking.
Unified reply:
The third party ROM does not have Moto's unique features, power consumption and instability.

For someone that's a small issues but I rather stay on MM and wait for stock ROM.

FYI, Yes. I can change Call volume without any problem. Also Audio and Mic are working perfectly fine.
"wave over the screen to wake the phone" - I guess, you meant AMBIENT DISPLAY.
Well, in your words, Yes, I can wave over the screen to wake the phone.
Am currently on Lineage 03/20 build with fixed boot.img from the dev.
and before that I was on 02/13 build which was just as stable as stock ROM.
Maybe you should look around in forum a bit more.
use custom rom or have patience

Yeah I'll admit the battery life isn't the greatest but it's also not that bad. At least there's the option for Nougat if one desires it
Moto X Pure/Style will not get Android O - ever. It's doubtful whether it will get anything other than 7.0 to be honest .

Oh, it will get Android O, and probably P, maybe even Q too... But not officially or from Moto. Look at the Moto G (original one) it is 3 or close to 4 years old, and it is still supported by developers, you can get Nougat on it and will likely get O as well.
And why should Moto continue to support it? This phone is a getting close to 2 years old, there is no logical reason for Moto to continue supporting a platform that is getting beyond it's normal life cycle.

Keep dreaming if you think that'll happen. 7.1.1 is already out for many devices not to mention O aka Oreo for Nexus devices. Lenovo/Motorola is garbage and we all know this. That's why we all stop supporting these two garbage companies so they can go out of business.

HAHA! I think so!
Custom Rom
You know what I think Lenovo is never going the moto x android N in non US countries it is apparently out in Latin America
But If you want the rom just install Lineage OS they have a decent battery life for a custom and the device runs perfectly fine no bugs no lag nothing
A perfect Android N rom for almost all Motorola devices
I am trying my first custom ROM so please help.
I have Moto x Pure Edition XT 1575 on Android 6.0. I have not done anything to my phone yet and this is the first time I am trying. Would you please let me know the exact steps to root, flash and install custom ROM on my phone?

No need to root the stock rom if you're just going to wipe it and flash a custom rom. The steps you need to follow are:
1) Unlock bootloader if not already done (note unlocking will automatically wipe the device, so backup files appropriately first)
2) Use fastboot to flash TWRP
3) Make a full backup in TWRP (don't skip this step as it can save you a lot of trouble if things go wrong)
4) Wipe and flash your custom rom. Flash gapps before booting in to the new rom too if you want Play store, etc.
5) Some roms aren't pre-rooted any more. If you want root, I recommend Magisk.
Details on how to do all this are spelled out step by step in Heisenberg's guide. Just do not root using the method in there. As I mentioned above, you don't have to root the stock rom just to replace it with a custom. However, if you feel the need to root the stock rom just flash Magisk. Don't flash that custom boot image it links to; that was a hack from the early days of systemless root that we no longer need.
Back when i was messing around with my Moto X Pure...i tried all the Mm roms at the time. Always found stock rom the smoothest and best battery life and most to my liking. A year or so later....it still has amazing battery life and nearly 2 days of standby time. It even outperforms my LG V10 even after replacing the battery.
And Android 8.0 is Octopus...apparently... not Oreo.....the dev preview build that is out has an Octopus logo thing in it now.
The title is self explanatory.
I'm selling my beloved (and sometimes behated) Oneplus One that has obviously been modded since day 1.
Unfortunately I never tried stock Lineage OS so I'm asking you guys if it is stable enough to be flashed instead of the stock and obsolete COS13.
Thanks!

I don't think it is as stable as cos13,but you should sell the device with nougat.
My suggestion is Flash sultan's lineage os and sell it.
The camera crashes in panarama mode. Otherwise solid is. Oneplus has the oxygenos for this phone but its version 5.1 if you want rock solid stability

There is OOs 3.1.4 port which is stable as well.
Some OTa updates install the factory camera back on..
I ended up locking the bootloader and reinstalling COS13, mainly because some banking apps and Netflix don't show up on the Play Store with an unlocked bootloader.
It's been almost 3 long years of flashing and modding, now I'll try so stay stock with no root as long as possible with my new Redmi Note 4
Thank you for the advice, cheers guys!

As posted in the link above, Android 10 is set to launch on September 3rd.
As far as i am aware, manufacturers have to configure the Android 10 so it works optimally with their devices. And this process takes time to complete.
Does anyone rember how long it took to get Pie, when it was released for our device ? Thanks
Regarding Pie release: The first post in here appeared around November, while Pie itself was released around August. So it took roughly 4 months.

I am (was) in the Pie beta testing group and if I remember correctly, I got the upgrade around November indeed.
According to a Xiaomi Online Support attendant, 10 will start rolling out in UK this week.
When it's about updates, online supports often says what we want to hear
So wait and see...

Mi A2 Lite has pure Android.
- No Bloatware
- No UI
Plus our device supports Project Treble. They used this feature with Pie update. Our device's drivers didnt updated since 2018 because of the Project Treble they dont need to update those. But it will be good if they do.
There is nothing to be hard.

The hard thing is that xiaomi has problem with our vendor, that's why we don't see fully working custom versions of Android Q , the only way is flashing a gsi version , or Android 10 with custom vendor , so... they have big problem , mi a3 has the same problem , that's why the device is still on PIE (they have promised that the Q update for A3 will come in the end of October)
So... we'll see , miui 11 is still PIE too... so maybe the problem is not that small

Since pie builds with custom vendor is in user opinion "more bugged than with sock vendor" I don't if there is sense to make custom ROMs with custom vendor if users days it more bugged than stock vendor, otherwise I'm still trying to build superior q, of course with custom vendor

Hello everyone,
I have a Moto G7+ as my main phone, and the last OS version it received was Android 10.
I know that it's possible to install customs ROMs or some things like that (sorry, I don't know to much about that area).
So I was wondering if I can install the most recent Android version in this device even it's not supported. If so, can it causes me some performance problems, like a slower phone?
Thanks in advance for any help

Look into Lineage OS. I have a Moto G4 with Lineage installed and it gets fresh OTA updates each week if I want them. It's quite old, I know, but it still receives current security updates. Lineage OS is a pretty vanilla Android ROM, and if there's a Lineage ROM for your phone,it should work without issue.
