Hi I have recently installed TWRP onto my s7 but when I go to flash a zip, I go to the install option and it says internal memory =0mb and I can't see any of my files. Therefore I cannot flash any zips such as xposed etc.
(Note - I did get my phone in a boot loop before, if that changes anything)
Is there a way in which I could reset the recovery to show all my current files?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you ??
Hi !
Unfortunately you must format data in order to wipe encryption and this will wipe your device , you should have make a backup of your data before , then your internal storage will show up

Hello,
I have totally wiped my phone to clean install ROM. However, now TWRP is asking for a password to decrypt data. I gave the password I set but it is showing wrong password. I don't understand, I am sure I am using the right password. Was on Venom 1.7.0 and disabled password on first boot. On the latest 1.27 base as well. Tried fastboot but device doesn't detect on fastboot :/ Not sure what do now, please can someone show me how can I get rid of this issue? Thank you.
Taking from Second Post by Nkk71 of TWRP Thread.
while still in TWRP, use the TWRP File Manager to navigate to /data/system and delete all the locksettings.* files (such as locksettings.db, etc). When you reboot, the password will be gone.
Unfortunately, I cannot access my internal storage. Hence I don't see any files. I don't mind wiping it clean and starting over. Can I downgrade with the help of a RUU?

Try this:
1. CANCEL WHEN TWRP ASK FOR PASSWORD
2. GOTO WIPE
3. SLIDE TO WIPE
4. BACK TO MAIN TWRP MENU
5. REBOOT TO RECOVERY AGAIN

Thanks man! :good: I also stumbled across some "default Passwort" which I didn't know and even after installing new ROM I still couldn't access my device. Even after having wiped cache and dalvik and all partitions. So this second wipe AFTER installing the ROM did the job!

Be careful because this erases everything on the phone and you have to install everything once again
EDIT:
I don't understand if this can be achieved with stock ROM. In case it is not possible: how to flash another ROM if no root access is possible? I just wanted to have a rooted stock ROM. Please help.
Something happened to my phone and I succeeded to flash it all new with Android 9.0 which I was on.
But when I try restore twrp backup (data and/or System) I always end up with bootloop.
Tried to reflash Magisk too but doesn't help.
Bootloops right back to TWRP after 2 minutes.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get my data back from the twrp backup?
Tried to official twrp and bmu_sparks.
Thanks.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. If you still have access to TWRP, enter it and wipe everything and install newest oxygen pie zip. TWRP is broken for our devie and backups cannot be trusted I'm afraid. Wish I knew this before.

After restore is complete do not reboot, try the following, it might work,
1-Do not do any wipe,
2-Flash exactly the same ROM which is backed up,
3-Flash twrp,
4-Reboot twrp.
5-Flash Magisk,
8-Reboot system,
In case you are trying to go back from pie to oreo you have to flash roll back rom.
All the best, hope this helps., cheers.
Have tried all that with no luck. But if I do a Factory reset any time after the data restore the phone works but then I dont have any data
This sucks big time.
Have installed all from scratch. Luckly fastboot was working all the time
Some data I could restore with Titanium Backup but not so much I needed/wanted.
Too bad we cant rely on TWRP and its backup/restore feature.

Its good only in the case if you are decrypted, since the time I'm decrypted no such problems, if you want you can try it,

Using TWRP backups on this phone is fun but not impossible. This process works for me.
1. Store backups on something other than the phone (I use an OTG card reader and 128 GB SD card)
2. Use a Fastboot Rom of THE EXACT SAME ROM as the backup and let it do it's thing flashing the phone (it will also wipe the phone in the process, which is why you need to store the backup elsewhere)
3. Boot up the phone and go through the whole process of setting it up. Don't worry about installing all your apps.
4. Install TWRP and Magisk if you used it on the backup.
5. Now restore your TWRP backups - just restore system, data, and boot.
I have done this at least 100 times and it has always worked.
I presume the fastboot rom is not only gonna wipe the internal drive but will also lock the bootloader, thats a lot of hassle to do every time you want to restore, but thanks for your suggestions, cheers.

The fastboot rom wipes the internal drive but DOES NOT lock the bootloader. Besides, I haven't seen or heard of another way to use TWRP backups without decrypting the phone, and I have security concerns with decrypting the phone.

ohh ok, I thought it locks it but thanks for the info, yes thats why I decrypted my device, lets hope in this thread we could find a easy way out to restore sucessfully while encrypted, have you tried just backing up boot, system and data and than restoring it ? cheers

Yes I tried. Without the fastboot rom to reset everything that stupid encryption bites you in the butt.
Yep. I just restored an entire nandbackup, and now my phone boots to a quailcomm dump screen only, can't fastboot into recovery or anything. Guess my new plans tonight involve fixing this thing.
I also got a bootloop after restoring 8.1 android with twrp 3.3.1 by nemo nemo on my leagoo xrover.
factory reset and wiping everything exept microsd card didnt help...
thanks for some help

Hi guys, i bought this phone 4 months ago and till now i still dont know what the heck password to decrypt data storage. i did google a lot and tried some password like : default, default_password, password or something like that. And when i install new rom. It bootloop to twrp. I can only install new rom after flash stock china rom and flash new rom. because data storage is ENCRYPTED.
thank you
to erase enycryption u have to first flash force decryption universal zip and now u have encryption ,only 2 solutions are available, Erase all data using twrp ,format if if it can but if doesn't, you have to use miflash tool to flash stock rom
Your encryption password should be your phone password

May i ask which recovery (TWRP) you are using ?
The only working TWRP cannot decrypt PIN or Password, use pattern instead, ore remove all and try again.
In TWRP you have to format Data, confirm with 'yes' and reboot to recovery again.

Very important:
If you come from global stable or any other custom ROM and want to change to xiaomi.eu: format data
If you stay on xiaomi.eu weekly developer you can update normaly: (wipe davlik and cache)
If you stay on Xiaomi.eu stable, update normally: (wipe davlik and cache)
If you change within xiaomi.eu weekly to stable: format data
If you change Android version on Xiaomi.eu : format data

i dont care about data dude. it just bootloop to twrp. but after 3 months i give up. cant reinstall app alots. the problem is data is encrypt. i used xiaomi note2 note 4, mimax1 mimax 3 mi8 so i know what to do. but this device a lots people face this problem same as me
you can try to change the file system of the partition f2fs to ext4 with twrp and reverse it.
I had this problem on my old Lenovo p2 and the only way i found is to change the file system and reverse it.
When you change the file system the data encryption is bypassed but you loose all data.

Best time to start over, flash miui rom with miflash.(no need to configure the rom, restart in fastboot with the xiaomi password)
Then install the TWRP and above all do not wipe anything!!!
Format data(if you see red lines reboot TWRP and format again)->flash rom format data->reboot twrp flash gapps->reboot system.
Which rom do you want to install?

And with pendrive+otg? you only need to select the rom on the pendrive and flash it!?
You don't need to install TWRP on phone but just boot from TWRP.img.
I had same problem, I think TWRP encrypted the phone. Solution use Mi flash tool to flash stock rom. Then on your PC make use you have Adb tool folder, put Poco-F2 chinese twrp- chinese-f2.img in same folder as TWRP. You don't need to install TWRP on phone but just boot from TWRP.img. Use command on pc from c:\Adb folder where there is fastboot, cmd: fastboot boot trwp-chinese-f2.img phone should reboot and boot from TWRP. Then in TWRP you can flash rom or copy rom zip file to phone and flash it. Format data if needed to and reboot to system. Phone will still on stock Recovery not TWRP.
Hello everyone,
As stated, I began by waiting the 7 days to get the bootloader unlocked, then proceeded to copy this EU rom to internal storage, after following this video, my phone reboots after installing the room and goes straight into TWRP. When I click on reboot on TWRP, regardless if I choose System, Recovery or Bootloader, the phone keeps coming back to twrp. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me.

Seems some system files got wiped. Open twrp and format data (don't wipe), after this restart to recovery and transfer the rom into your phone and flash, then reboot that's it. If this still occurs boot loop or returns to twrp, then download full firmware and flash it through mi flash, make sure to only select clean flash not to lock, and then wait until it boots to the welcome screen. After that flash twrp, format data (don't wipe), restart to recovery and transfer the rom into your phone, and flash and then reboot.
Hope this will fix your problem, please let me know

Thanks for your reply.
I was able to get it fixed by changing the filesystem on the data & internal partitions to f2fs. Did a reboot and phone went into MIUI after that. I regret flashing the EU rom but that's another topic.

Can go back to Chinese again if you want. Just flash latest .zip format ROM from http://mifirm.net .
