Microsoft's Android Version for Surface Duo - Samsung Galaxy S10e Guides, News, & Discussion

Just wondering if anyone will take up the challenge to make the Duo OS portable to Samsung S10e and other phones. Thoughts?

It's a ton of insufficient work so the answer is no.

Readers Hub?

Guys im from Philippines. Why is it there is no reader hub application in my Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus?
Sent from TAPAKING using Tapatalk
I don't know what reader hub is as I don't have it either here in the States. I use the Kindle app and Google Books for my reading. There was an ebook app that Samsung included but I deleted it as soon as I rooted my device.
Here in the States, it's "Social Hub" and "Media Hub". Perhaps you mean one of these two?
I would imagine if you don't have various pre-installed software it's because of legal or licensing issues in your home Country.
G.B.
And remember, talking dogs always lie.
I have S2 and there is Readers Hub. I can download newspaper there with payment. My problem Tab 7 plus has no readers hub.
Sent from TAPAKING using Tapatalk
Reader Hub was an oft touted feature of Samsung's Touchwiz suite.
Unfortunately we never really got it on it on the 10.1/8.9 nor on the 7+. Not sure on the 7.7 however.
I never minded too much as the only thing I wanted was Time magazine and Next Issue covered that for the most part.
The 7 plus has an app called Pulse......that should fit your needs.
Cheers

If you ask whether is it possible to run Android? then the answer would be yes, it can be possible. But too much work based on Kernel development for making it boot. Non-Android devices like Samsung Wave, Nokia Lumia, iPhone etc. have the history to run Android, but was unstable and had too many bugs for using it.
So, if you couldn't find any Android port based on the Nokia C6-00, then it probably not exists.
So is there any rom for the nokia?

Well actually i wanted to test wp. I will search the forum and if i come across to any problem, i'll ask for help. Thx.
I can't find anything, so i'll do factory reset and it will be ok.
It would be possible
It would be possible if developers try to port on nokia .. It's like too difficult but not impossible as i already read about porting android on NOKIA N8-00 ..
I dont think that someone will spent his time to a 3-4 years old smartphone

I have so many old symbian phones, if only I could install Android on them to make them useful But too old!

So what would you Note 10.1 owners do now?

This question is directed at folks who own a Note 10.1. If you were looking for a tablet today, would you buy the Note 10.1 again or would you buy something else? Why? If you would buy a different tablet what would it be and why?

In short: if I would by an android tablet I would definitely buy a Note 10.1 again, no doubt about it. However, having a quite decent laptop in the tablet would be nice sometimes so one doesn't have to carry two devices in school and still can run ie matlab and MS Office, so a series 7 Slate (also this from Samsung) is something I would really consider. But it's a lot more expensive and larger so using it for pure reading as an ebook-ish is probably not as pleasant but then again it's more devices in one combined with a small wireless keyboard.

Welllll,
I was waiting when I got my Note 10.1, then a really good deal (350 $US) came up on a refurbished 32GB model, so I jumped on it.
What I was cross shopping was the Samsung ATIV 500t, and the prices of those were down considerably, but after trying both in the store, the Note 10.1 was far smoother and a better experience than the ATIV, but the allure of running full windows Desktop apps (photoshop, illustrator, etc. )on a tablet is still there. The next line of Intel chips (Haswell, not the ones in the new G-tab 3) should hit the sweet spot of performance and battery life, and that's what I'd wait for, that or a sweet deal on the Note 8. The Note 8 is a very very compelling product, the pen is different in the 8" version and works a good bit better than on the 10.1, but the price is out of line from my expectations.
I bought the Note 10.1 for the features it had- 10" screen, Quad-Core CPU, 2GB RAM, fast Samsung Flash-memory and 3G connectivity (plus it's unlocked and there's kernel source available). For those specs, there's no currently-available equal.
That being said, once the upcoming Sony Tablet Z 3G/LTE comes out, I'll probably get it. I've had a chance to play with one of the prototypes and I like the form-factor and the fact that SonyMobile has released all the source already.
Every meeting I have when I start taking notes with my Note 10.1, I get asked about it and someone usually says "I wish my ipad did that"... There is simply no better pen input device on the market... yet!
I would wait because I would be expecting that a new Note tablet would come out, and this Note tablet would drop in price.

Actually, since the 8.0 recently was launched there won't be another similar tablet in this year or maybe "just in time for christmas shopping".

I would wait for the 5.0 upgrade if that is not just a rumour . or at least 4.2..... multiuser on this tablet would be usefull.
I too was looking for other new upcoming tablets like the new nexus thats about to hit in autumn or the xperia z that has sort of the same concept of multi tasking (refering to the floating apps that xperia home has) ; but i have trully fallen in love with the s- pen and multiwindow functionality and app developed here on xda !!
So for Now.. regarding your subject, the note is still serving all my needs in terms of performance.
The next note ( if there will be such ), will sure be quite interesting. The note 10.1 that exists allready has the cool revolutionary multi tasking concept mentioned, that not many android devices have yet implemented to be usefull enough for my user taste.
I'm thinkin that there are many directions to explore in android, that none big producer has explored till samsung started mostly .
Sure it would be great for me ...if i could run a vanilla aosp android 4.2 like on the nexus10 but multiwindowed... Even aokp and cm.....
Is should be possible in any device till now...no matter that version....theyre just teasing us.
I would consider the new Toshiba as that also had sd-card and a stylus but is super high-res. Just waiting to see how easy it will be to root. The resolution is the only way in which the Note could seriously be improved imo, but tbh I haven't found it to be much of an issue and I do a lot of technical pdf reading and annotating.
ASUS is currently giving its keynote presentation at Computex 2013 in Taipei where it has just rolled out the first of a few new Android devices, the refreshed and redesigned Transformer Pad Infinity.
10-inch 2560x1600 IPS display with 178-degree viewing angle
1.9GHz Tegra 4 CPU
2GB of RAM
32GB of storage, expandable by SDcard
802.11a/b/g/n Wifi
USB 3.0 port
4K video output over HDMI
399.00 price point and 499.00 with dock
The are also working on the ASUS Transformer Book Trio, runs Android "Jelly Bean"and Windows 8
It will have two CPUs -- a fourth-generation Intel Core i7 U4500 for Windows and an Atom 2580 for Android. It's also got two banks of storage available -- a 1TB traditional hard drive and 64GB of flash storage and a 1080p IPS display.
The Trio can be docked and used as a tablet or a laptop. But it also boasts an additional usage mode -- the docking station can be connected to a monitor to create a full desktop PC experience. So it looks like the Atom chip lives in the display, while the Core i7 likely resides in the dock.
All about android talked about it on there webcast this week. ( http://twit.tv/show/all-about-android/112 starts at 16:20 mark )
It looks like they are going after Samsung and Microsoft's business so you should expect a new line or upgrades from Samsung.
I would most likely stick with my Note 10.1 as I already know what it can do and I'm happy.

Google Edition Phones?

Hi guys!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S 4 Google Edition phone because I was excited to mod it. I'm new to modding, so I've been despretly searching this forum for help about custom ROMs, but there doesn't seem to be any.
Why isn't there a device subforum for the google edition phones?
When will the google edition phones be supported by cyanogenmod, paranoid, etc.?
I love this device, it runs fast and I haven't had a single app crash or freeze, which is something that killed my experience on my previous phone, the Galaxy S 2 (Hercules).
Thank you for your time!
You paid $600 just to put another stock based ROM on top of it?

Gear S2 connection with non-samsung phones?

Hi all,
I'm looking at buying my first smart watch and the gear s2 seems to tick all the boxes for me. However, I've come across the gear app and plugin app in the play store and the reviews are terrible, with users bringing up issues with connectivity dropouts and the like.
I just wondered on your experiences on non-samsung phones with the S2?
(I'm on Nexus 6P, non rooted, 7.1.1)
Cheers!

I have a GS2 Classic paired to a Moto Droid Turbo 2. Generally, no problems.
Occasional disconnects after upgrading to Nougat, but less than one/week.

There are few differences in features available on the watch when using Samsung phone vs other brands. I know this first hand because I switched from a LG to a Samsung. But don't take my word for it, here's a chart that highlights the differences.
https://www.sammobile.com/2017/01/1...res-that-are-missing-from-the-gear-s3-on-ios/
Fine on xperia Z5C
All go fine on p9 lite. No issues and good connectivity.
However you can pair with all Android (4.3+) and at least 1.5GB of RAM. I read that you can pair the watch to smartphones with 1GB of RAM, but you have to modify Samsung Manager apk, see https://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s2/help/pair-gear-s2-moto-g-t3323385.
Yes you can use it with smartphone that has 1GB of RAM, but you need to use a modified Samsung Gear app.
Modified Samsung Gear app is available on my blog, I will try to update it as frequently as possible.

First experience I connect Gear S2 to Sony Xperia Z3 compact. Connection without problem but Gear app crashed. I solve it by installing older version of Gear app from APK mirror ( app from april 2016). It have no limitation. It was probably caused by ROOT.
Next I connect it to Moto Z play. No problem at all.
using non samsung phones we lost all the paid apps, right?

App purchases are tied to your Samsung account, not the device. They only need be purchased once. Devices can be changed at will.
