Issue with the 90hz mode display - Huawei P40 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi guys, im facing the issue with Huawei P40 Pro. Gapps installed. The issue is that if i unlock my phone with different way of unlocking: face or finger. Note that 90hz mode is chosen in Settings. Both methods of unlocking turned on
1) if i unlock it with the finger - it works with 90hz
2) if i unlock the phone with face and the unlock screen appears at least for a moment - it works 90hz
3) if i unlock it with face and the unlock screen don't appear(actually i look at the phone and the unlock is really fast) - it turns 60hz.
Once i turned off the finger unlock option, it works 90hz with the only face unlock option. What should be the issue of this? I recordered the video to show you guys how it really looks like, add h before the link

unlock on table

i had op3 with frontal fingerprint, it was very easy to unlock the device when it was on the table.
now i have to lift the device for facial unlock.
do you use a faster way to unlock the device on the table?
Coming from OP3T I'm also having to come to terms with the same adjustment.
Only option I think you have is to enable the settings in gestures double tap to wake and then use Face Unlock

You knowingly bought a phone with a rear fingerprint sensor so why is this even a question? Use the passcode or pick it up it's pretty simple
Another option to unlock is using google voice match if you don't want to touch your phone. It works with OnePlus 6.

Android Central mentions that the haptic (vibrator) motor is weak and soft, unlike the iPhone for example.
Kind of a holdback for me to buy it.

Then buy an iPhone, its twice the price. There has to be some sacrifices at a lower price point, and haptics would never feature highly for me as a must have strong haptics, more so as I turn them off. If you look at all the other stuff squeezed into the View 20, you do get a lot of phone. However, for me, its the accumulation of everything, that then provides an overall experience, which I am loving. I do get that not every phone is right for every person

What most reviews don't talk about, i seriously do not understand why, are the major flaws in EMUI 9.1 or Magic 2.0 -
1. The Magazine Unlock setting is missing - this means that you have no option to disable the feature or choose the lockscreen wallpaper.
2. There is no option to set the screen lock timeout - the screen gets locked immediately, every single time. So if you have a pin set, it means you have to enter it every time the screen goes off !
3. Cannot respond to notifications on the lock screen - to respond to a single whatsapp message, you have to unlock the screen. Ridiculous !!
My take on Huawei phones is - unless we get a clarification that these issues will be resolved in future software releases, stay away from them.

I can see Android fans being put off by the locked bootloader and limitations of Magic UI, but the lack of screen lock timeout control is not an issue for me because I bypass magazine unlock and use the fingerprint sensor to open on the app that I was last using when the screen timed out to lock the device. Face unlock works in the same way. You can change the sleep settings in display to increase the duration before the screen shuts off. The default is 15 seconds which is a little too aggressive.

The number 2 is really what bothered me initially - having a lot of financial apps that need it. All I do in most cases is not to forget to press the power button immediately after making use of any of the apps to lock the screen.

Speak for yourself as there are tens of millions of people who are very happy with Emui.
Emui 9.1 is near perfect now. Your first point is incorrect. You can change this when you select a new theme. I've never worried about the second point. I want rock tight security. And the third point does need changing.
Otherwise there's actually a lot emui offers over others. If you don't like it, just install Nova Launcher. Hides most things.
My only wish apart from your third point is having the option to scale the icon size within the themes.

You can easily get rid of the magazine unlock.

[No root] Finally, an app to enable native Lift To Wake (lockscreen)

TL, DR. Where is the download?
github.com/xubowenhaoren/OPLiftToWake/releases
What does it do?
This is a simple app to enable Lift To Wake for OnePlus 7 series.
It is not the Lift To "Ambient Display" in the stock Settings App; it enables the true Lift To "Lock Screen" like other phones.
Why do I want this feature?
You've probably already known that OnePlus, in Android 10, reveals the notification content on the lock screen after Face Unlock.
But to see those notifications, you either need to:
1. Pick up the phone and unlock with your finger at the Ambient Display. A two-step process.
2. Pick up the phone and press the power button. Again, a two-step process.
Now with the app, you can pick up the phone and the lock screen immediately shows up.
How does it do this?
It listens to the native system sensor (`oneplus.sensor.pickup`). In my testing, it is very power efficient.
What phones does it support?
I have tested this on a OnePlus 7T with Android 10. It should also work with other OnePlus 7 series.
Note that for earlier OnePlus phones, there is also a [pickup sensor] but with a different name.
If you want this app to work with earlier OnePlus phones, you should try replacing this line in `Utils.java` with the correct sensor name:
```
mSensor = Utils.getSensor(context, mSensorManager, "oneplus.sensor.pickup");
```
How do I use it?
You probably want to turn off the Ambient Display first.
After installing the app, turn on the "Lift To Wake" toggle.
You should also consider turning off the battery optimization of the app for a more consistent background performance.
Do I need Magisk for this?
No, it is root-free.
Credits
Much of the code is from the Lineage OS team.
Other code references can be found in the code comments.
Love this feature thank you!
Works like a charm ? thanks.
Awesome! will give it try, hope there is no battery drain.
Great to see! Cheers
It is still a 2 step procedure when i use face unlock along with fingerprint.
It should be a command that when I pick up the phone -> auto open lockscreen -> auto trigger face unlock.
When i want to use fingerprint, just tap to wake ambient display and unlock with fingerprint.
I really dont want to sacrifice FOD to use only face unlock.

This is the app for you then. Also, you don't lose FOD at the lock screen.

You dont get my point, bro. When you use both FOD and face unlock, this app just show the lockscreen when pick up. Then u have to choose putting your finger on FOD or pressing the face icon button on top of the clock to unlock.
My desire is that the app will trigger the face unlock automatically in that situation.

I am using a OnePlus 7T. In my case, when the lock screen lights up, Face Unlock automatically works and my new messages reveal their content.

Weird!!! Something prevents the app from triggering face unlock automatically. Maybe because of the pop up camera firmware in 7 pro.

My OP7T doesn't even have a pocket mode, so I can't test that for you. However, the original Lineage OS code had support for pocket mode. You could try to add it! :good:
It's cool. Kinda slow thought.
If I turn off the notification, will it keep running?
And thanks for it, really useful:good:

Yes, I've tested this.
Facing a minor problem. The app has to be opened up to function after deep sleep i:e in the morning. The battery optimization is off for the app.
Any ideas how to fix the issue.
Nice I love it. Great job sir. ?

Question Face unlock since update

Has anyone else had issues with face unlock since the update?
I updated to software 13.1.21 and face unlock stopped working. I reset the device and now when you try to set up face unlock, it tells me to fold the phone, even if closed (see pic)
The front selfie camera still works so assuming it must be a software fault so does anyone else have the same issue?
No. My face unlock and fingerprint unlock both survived the update and continued working as before. The only oddity I noticed is that now if I tell Google Assistant to send a message or make a call on the unfolded screen it must think the phone is a tablet and says "sorry, I can't send messages or make calls yet". If I fold the phone it works fine.
