Hi all
I've recently reset my wife's phone so my son can use it.
However, after factory reset (using the buttons) when it reboots I cannot set it up.
It says that an "Abnormal factory reset" has been performed and asks for my wife's Samsung email/password.
When we put this in - it's rejected (actually, it says signing in but nothing happens).
We've reset the password but it still won't work.
I'd be happy to just format it an put a clean custom ROM on it but I don't know how.
All guides I find say it needs to be rooted first and to enable USB developer options - but I cannot unlock the phone to get to this stage.
Could someone please help me figure it out? Samsung can't (they want us to send it to them for a chargeable repair!)
Thanks
Matt

Hi, you don't need to root before flashing.
Samsung is AWESOME FOR THIS.
You can flash at any desperate moment.
It is time to install Android 10 for the dummies : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/guide-tutorial-howto-samsung-galaxy-s6-t4108425
Thanks. I managed to fix it though.
I had to get the L2 Samsung account support to disable two-factor authentication.
Then the password worked and the phone unlocked.
The "this phone is blocked" screen requires your Samsung password but isn't smart enough to work with two factor auth (which is default turned on for all Samsung accounts). #facepalm

Nope the twofacauth is not turned on by default for Sam acc or any other acc on this Planet...that must be activate and config by user.
But if you have the right knowledge you could flash other Rom even if the Phone is lock by google. You just need to know how to.

Have you tried locking again from device manager and set a new password?
Hi all,
I need help with breaking my lock screen pattern (Sony Z3 Compact D5803, Android 5.1.1). Today 6 years old kid was playing with my phone and somehow she went into settings and changed my lock screen - and she forgot it. Grrrr
Things I have done so far:
1. Access my gmail account, able to use Android Device Manager -> lock and reset (its running on phone - but did not reset lock screen pattern)
2. Contacted Sony and my carrier (Vodafone UK) - both unable to do anything. Recommend hard reset (all data wiped out)
3. Tried to access phone with ADB shell ->error device '(null)' not found (i guess on USB debugging on on the phone)
4. tried like 200 combinations (simple) no luck
5. Pushed installation of androidlost and done sms registering etc (done this before on friend phone when was stolen) but no luck on main (I got AVG AV on phone which probably stop starting app remotely)
Got some data on my phone what can't really lose, otherwise would do hard reset
Any help appreciated

Thanks for your help. went there and did go through those methods, unfortunately adb shell/devices showed null device, I am on stock rom so no recovery mode - to flash from sd.
But in the end of the day, I made it - phone is unlocked thanks to SONY software (when registering phone with your gmail it does create for you Xperia account). Its like Google Device Manager - with the difference it will overwrite PIN/Lock Pattern. Funny thing is Sony customer service is unaware of this.. completely..at least they first level of support.

Glad, you found your way. Thread closed

Hi there,
I am happily using my Mi4i since more than a year now. Now I moved on to a new device and given my Mi4i to wife. Before giving it I did factory reset and internal storage wipe using 'recovery' (stupid me, should have done from settings). Phone booted up, everything was fine. But when ever I turned on Wifi (when ever the phone got connected to internet) it showed a screen says 'Activate this device'. What is the big deal, I entered my password clicked Activate. Well that gave me a mini heart attack. It said invalid activation code.! Then I noticed carefully and sadly figured out that the Mi account number showing in the activation message screen is different than my actual account number. Don't know how this happened How can I get over this ? or atleast know which email ID is associated to the showing Account (it shows account number with **** in the middle).? will a complete image flash fix this issue ? any help will be appreciated.
Note : Obviously you guys can think like I am a thief and it is a stolen device. If there is any proof needed I can post the original invoice here
Just try flash again with latest ROM via fastboot
Flashboot should resolve your issues, and now since you are flashing it as a secondary device, it may be worth upgrading it to Android 6.0.1 :

Hi I need some help with a customer J7 boost mobile, She purchased a Galaxy J7 and the phone was defective and she has to send it to Samsung for repair, the phone was fixed and send it back to her. the problem was that they reset her phone and now is asking for the google account password. ( she doesn't remember her login and password)
so the only solution was to bypass the security lock, I tried OTG cable and didn't work, I tried side sync and didn't work, the only working method was to call 611 and from there going to the internet, download shortcut maker and from there to settings and reset and voila! Right? BUT NO!!!
The first think I noticed is that doesn't let me go into developer mode by typing the build number, kernel, baseband, nothing :crying: developer was lock. the second is that when I reset the phone from the actual phone (with short cut maker) the phone will reset and then reinstall everything back again, I know because the customer had Spanish language by default, I tried again call 611 and go to the internet, download shortcut maker go settings check is any account on google (none) try to open developer mode (none) reset the phone and AGAIN the phone reset and and reinstall and lock again, I tried odin and root but google account block any try to root the phone, try odin with stock image and the same install and after reinstall and lock again. Could Samsung did something to the phone ? I seen videos unloking the J700H but nothing on boost mobile J700P? anyone knows hot to fix this ... thanks in advance

Okay so, My friend has a samsung galaxy s5 neo and he gave it to his daughter who is quite young. She set up her own gmail etc on it and he later had to factory reset the phone.
Upon starting it up, he obviously ran into the "please log in with the origional gmail account to verify identity." the only problem is his child cant remember the details at all.
So, he has handed his phone to me to fix as i have a bit of experience with this sort of stuff however I have a couple of problems.
First and foremost usb debugging and oem unlock allowed are not ticked whatsoever and because i cant access the phone i cant get them on. I'm pretty stumped on what to do now, i've tried several things
like flashing different stock roms on via odin etc...
i've tried getting different apks to open when i put in he usb, i have tried to disconnect my internet whenever the "just a sec" part comes up.
The only thing i can think of now would be to get a custom recovery on and flash a custom rom. But because i don't have the oem thing and debugging on odin wont flash twrp because i get the frp lock issue.
If anybody can offer me any advice on things you think i can do to help me please do, i appreciate it a lot.
