[Guide][Assistant 2.0][All Android 10 ROMs] How to get the new Google Assistant 2.0 ! - Android General

Let's get started.
Hello guys. Many of you must've seen the new Google Assistant 2.0 from the Pixel 4 family making a lot of buzz.
Well no need to buy a pixel because you can get it working on your phone running Android 10.
This method has been tested on various phones running PE, Havoc, and Evolution X.
Pre requisite
1. A phone
2. Android 10 (preferably Gapps version)
3. Root
4. A file explorer with root access (I use solid explorer)
5. Little bit of brain and some patience
Steps
1. The first thing to be done is to spoof your device as a pixel 4/4 XL. For this you can use one of the following methods.
A. Manually edit your build.prop file using a file explorer (Like root explorer/ solid explorer etc)
B. Flash Pixel_4_XL_props using magisk (File Attached)
C. Flash the Module MagiskHide_props_config from Magisk repo
Then open Terminal app. Type
Code:
props
followed by selection "1", then "f", then "6" (corresponding to Google), then "23" (corresponding to "Pixel 4 XL")
Then go back to main page of props make selection "2", followed by "s" (device simulation), followed by "a" (Enable all props), followed by "1" (Enable)
Then restart the device.
2. Once the device restarts, try triggering the assistant, it should prompt you to download the additional files for assistant 2.0. If not, just clear the data of Google and try again.
3. Once assistant 2.0 is enabled, you still won't get the beautiful colourful UI like the pixel 4. For that follow the following steps.
4. Using file explorer, navigate to the directory /data/data/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/shared_prefs.
5. Replace the file GEL.GSAPrefs.xml with the one attached bellow
6. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT: Go one step up to /data/data/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/ and change the permission of the folder "shared_prefs" The folder not the files in it to 551 (dr-xr-x--x)
7. Force stop the Google App and start it again. It should now be showing the coloured bar UI like Pixel 4.
8. Profit?
NOTE: IF THE ADDITIONAL FILES FAIL TO DOWNLOAD, INSTALL THIS APK

I did all of it, but now "ok, google" is not working. Why?

It works really well on Redmi Note 4/x, Note 5/Pro, Note 6 Pro and Note 7 thanks!

Everything works flawless except "Ok Google" function.

Ok Google is not working in redmi note 5
Assistant is working fine. i'm using you prop but still "OK GOOGLE" is not working . why??
suggest me something

Google search FC'ed

MY Google search always fc when I copy the GEA
L.GEAPrefs to /data/data/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/shared_prefs/

Is anyone able to find solution to this error? I have moved the xml file also. No longer on beta version of Google & Play Services. I have Moto G5 Plus (Potter) on PE10 latest update.

install this and enjoy

you used my instruction from a telegram. but OK
In Gelgsaprefs edit your email. Currently there is data nishant_713
And this guide doesn't work with all roms 10 Not works with LineageOS and smartphones arm version Only PixelExperience Rom

Is there a way to backup stuff before doing this?

Offline work.
Do you know why this doesn't work offline or a fix so that assistant can work offline.

How to manually edit build prop because when i use magisk module then my ir face unlock stops working and i tried editing build prop on my own and ended up stuck in bootloop so please tell me what to edit and where to edit

The color bar doesn't appear after flashing the magisk module. Anyone fixed this? :>(

I did all the steps on my S8+ and everything working fine but after a while when i open google search it crashes and force closes so i have to clear data and reinstall assistant additional data and so on, then everything good i get the colors, ok google working but then after a while same thing google search crashes.
What seems to be the problem, is there a solution or how can i revert to how it was? For example reverting back what i did with terminal emulator...

Thank you it worked on my redmi note 6 pro but the problem is the ok Google isn't working it say unavailable for this language

Any telegram or discord group where someone would answer questions?
Still trying to figure out why at the moment of install everything works good but then after a lil bit google search starts force closing.

With today update Google app New Google Assistant works on all ROMs with set build.prop to Pixel 4 XL And without copy gelgsaprefs.xml this file is now much bigger with all function activated

Why so complicated? Just use the nga.xml sysconfig in /product/etc/sysconfig... Would be pretty easy to make another Module for that...
Nevermind, Just saw the glowing UI...

just delete all data of the Google app and this will reset that XML file to the original state. Do not paste the attached file again. And you'll see everything working properly

[ROM][06 May 2012] Flytouch 3 Superpad 2 TolgaMOD_FT3_v1.0

Hello,
This ROM is based on Tim6a and www_apad_tv-ibex-Flytouch-3-Firmware-V8.
I started customizing Tim's 6a ROM for my own use, basically since I wanted to see all apps compatible with FT3 on Google Play and I wanted to use ADW Launcher. Now that my customization is complete, I wanted to share it with the xda-developers community
The ROM is built to mimic a Samsung Galaxy GIO device. This device has a much smaller screen but has an ARMv6 processor like the FT3. So all apps downloaded from Google Play should work, and with good performance since it will be the app's QVGA version. Gameloft games also recognize this device, so for example you can download and play Ice Age Village.
Credits go to Tim for his great custom ROM, Apad.tv for firmware-V8, Axlien for the build.prop ideas, chairshot215 for performance tweaks. Thank you guys!

I hope you enjoy this release!

INSTALLATION:
Unzip the contents of mod edit] to the root folder of your SDcard, and reboot FT3. When the installation is complete, don't forget to take out the SDcard and remove the installation files.
If Wi-fi is grayed out after installation, it means that your wifi card is not 0803 v1. (default) Try enabling old FT3 or 0803 v2 using Tim's scripts in Gscript Lite.
To view all apps on Google Play, follow these steps after installation:
1. Open Google Play, accept the upgrade and accept TOS.
2. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and select ALL tab.
3. Go to Google Play, clear cache and force stop (DO NOT CLEAR DATA)
4. Go to Google Services framework, clear data and force stop
5. Open Google Play, and you should get a server error. (This is normal)
6. Restart FT3 and all compatible apps should be visible on Google Play!

Hmmm.
I'm useing one of Tim's Roms... not sure wich one. The one where the screen is always dark. I tried dling your fixed stuff put it on my sd card it said it updated took out the sd card than turned it back on, but nothing had changed, everything was still the same? I have tryed the Power button+menu+front button to factory reset it, and still tims rom is still there with no changes. I just am at a loss now... really pissed to be honest. I cant even get the thing back to it's original original settings... I want to use your packet, any suggestions?
Anyone? I have just about tried everything and I'm on my last leg. I'm about ready to just rip the case open and K.O. the battery~
Hi billypaul69,
On my FT3, I just push menu+power to do a factory reset. Perhaps you could try that button combination to do a factory reset.
About flashing my ROM: Apparently the update somehow did not complete for you. I suggest you check out this excellent video tutorial from Axlien to flash a ROM to FT3, and see if it helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7xdpnoHLeg
Make sure you don't turn off your device, before you see the following message on the screen:
Updating system firmware completed.
Please shutdown your device and remove the installation card!
Automatic shutdown in 1 minute.
Click to collapse
If you see any other messages such as "not complete", "wrong system file" etc. and not the one above, please report them here. It's possible that either the .zip file you downloaded got somehow corrupted or the SDcard you are using for the update is faulty. In that case try re-downloading TolgaMOD, or formatting your SDcard and try again.
I hope that my suggestions work for you! Thanks for checking out my ROM!
Regards,
Tolga
Thanks soo much i'm going to try all the steps asap.

Hi
I just installed your new rom file and everything went Ok. The only problem is that my wifi network is not working. I can activate the wifi but it cannot find any network.
I tried using gscript to install on of the wifi patches but I get the following error message
"stderrermission denide" when I run the script.
Any idea as to why this is happening ? Apart from that, you rom is very snappy in operation.
Hi jammertn,
I'm glad you like the speed of my ROM, that was one of my goals indeed. I'm pretty sure one of the wifi scripts will correct the problem. For example my tablet's wifi works with the "old FT3" fix.
The reason you are getting the "permission denied" error is because gscript was not given superuser permissions.
The first time you run gscript, there should be a pop-up screen from superuser application asking for root rights. You should select "Allow" on this window. If you don't allow it or deny root access, the scripts won't work. If you denied root access and selected "remember" the first time, please launch superuser application from the app drawer and change the status of Gscript Lite to "Allow".
Since you have wifi not grayed out I guess your wifi is 0803 v2. Please try running the "Wifi fix:0803 version2" script and then reboot your tablet.
I hope that helps!
Hi and thanks for the quick reply.
From where do I launch superuser?
Click the middle button (the one with white squares) on the dock, you will have access to all installed apps including superuser.
OK I found the application.
One more question, Something happened and now gscript only sees 3 scripts. How can I make it show all the scripts like before.
Excuse all my dumb questions but I'm new at this.
No problem mate, I think the best way is to simply re-install the ROM You can backup your current apps with Titanium Backup.
Nice, thanks a million
I got it working now.
I'll be watching this thread closely.
Keep up to great work
Yay! I'm glad it worked, c ya around.
Hi Tolga
Is there anyway to activate bluetooth on this tablet? I tried using the gscript but cannnot get is to work. Any ideas ?
Hi jammertn,
This tablet doesn't have a bluetooth chip onboard. Tim's scripts are for driving usb bluetooth dongles. I'm not sure which ones work, but maybe the thread below could have more info.
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?1358-Flytouch-3-Bluetooth-USB-dongle-testing-thread
Hi Tolga
Thanks for the reply, I have seen that thread but it does not have have any useful info in it. I tried it with an external usb/bluetootyh dongle but still no operation.
Hi,
I ran a quick web search and I haven't seen anyone successfully making a USB bluetooth dongle work on FT3. I think Tim included some kernel modules with the firmware for devs and testing purposes. So please don't assume it will work when you simply plug in any USB BT dongle.
Here's the support thread for Tim6a, there might be more info there:
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?416-Flytouch-3-Hybrid-ROM-(rooted)&highlight=bluetooth
I think I have a USB BT dongle somewhere, I will take a look if I can find it
Regards,
Tolga
has this been posted on Apad.tv or tested on the iBex Flytouch 3 by people on there?
Do you mean if this ROM has been tested or if USB bluetooth dongle has been tested? I'm pretty sure TolgaMOD runs on Ibex Flytouch 3, since it's basically a modified version of Tim6a.
Here is my ROM's thread on apad.tv:
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?2675-ROM-06-May-2012-TolgaMOD_FT3_v1.0
i installed rom over Tim 6a rom but still nothing changed,, MENU+power reset also tried.. currently my Huawei data stick does not work since some weeks, thats why i need to install a fresh firmware..
merhaba, yükleme yaptim fakat yine eski tim 6a rom yüklü yani hicbir sey degismedi, hard reset yaptim yine ayni.. ayrica önceden calisan Huawei data stick bi süredir calismiyor, birseyler silinmis olmali diyerek yeni rom yüklemek istiyordum, acaba neden calismiyordur data stick?

Google now for ICS based ROMs (tested on CyanogenMod 9.1 build#9)
The Thread
Requirements:
You must be on Ice Cream Sandwich.
Rooted Device
A deodexed ROM
You should be running a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWM) or Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP).
You need at least 60MB of system space for the full offline installation. (30MB for online only version) If you don't know how to check, simply download Titanium Backup from the market. It tells you right on the main screen
Download :
Google Now Offline Version
Google Now Online Version
File descriptions:
Online only zip is for those of you who need to save /system space. It removes the offline voice files, so that offline voice dictation does not work. You must always have some sort of data connection for this type of zip.
Offline/Online zip is for those with no /system space restrictions. It contains the full Google Now package with offline voice dictation.
Update zip is for those who already have a version of GN installed. All it does is change your version to the one your choose without having to download a big file. If you are already on an Offline version, it will update you to the Offline version of whichever you choose. Same goes for Online versions and manual installations.
APK only is for those who have already flashed a zip. You may simply push the new apk to /system/app (overwrite or remove the previous version), set permissions to rw-r-r (0644) {ES file Explorer}, and reboot to enjoy the latest version of Google Now. DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL THE APK BY ITSELF.
How to Install:
Move the file you picked in your SD card.
Reboot your device into recovery.
Backup your current ROM.
In CWM, navigate to "Install zip from SD" and select that.
Next, highlight "Choose zip from SD card" and select it.
Select the Google Now zip you loaded onto your SD card, then select it.
Scroll down and select the option that says "Yes - Install Google Now....zip"
Once it has flashed, go back to the main CWM menu and select "Reboot system now".
Launch Google Now by opening your App Drawer and selecting the Google Icon, or by adding the Google Search Widget to your home screen, then doing a normal search.
Go into the settings menu for Google Now and set it up for your Google account and various other settings.
Manual Installation:
Visit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
Post Installation :
So, you flashed Google Now. You're wondering what you can do with it, right? Well, thankfully, Killer-B has a handy little guide to get you up to speed on all the cool stuff Google Now can do as well as how to do it!
Commands & Now Cards For Google Now!!! Now Video, and custom widget
At this point, I'd suggest looking through your contact list for people with unusual, or difficult to pronounce names. Go into their contact card, and add in a nickname for them of their phonetically spelled name. Google Now has trouble parsing these unusual names, and their isn't a way to make it learn. Spelling the names like they sound allows you to send texts and place calls via Google Now without any voice issues.
Open up the red mic screen and "Do a barrel roll."
Restoring Google Search:
If, for some reason, you want to remove Google Now and return to how you were before, flash the following zip. It removes all Google Now files, and returns the original Google Search app and voice files, as well as sets permissions for the Search app. Make sure to uninstall talkback and then reinstall it once you reboot to get voice search working again.

I'v been using it for like a week and it seems fine , but I think Auto Sync would keep your device awake , so maybe turning it off along with wireless and data connection being off at the same time will save much more energy , though I need more people to test it on different ROMs to be more sure
thanks i will download it

apk in /system/app ignored

Hello guys,
As the title said, i was once able to copy apk in /system/priv-app and got them installed after a reboot; too bad it looks like it doesn't work anymore. I tried also /system/app, but still nothing.
The Story Behind: Few ROM flashing ago, i decided to install the pixel launcher app. Downloaded and installed it, it works well out of the box, whit the exception of the swipe left gesture. Some googling revealed me that the launcher must be installed as a system app for make the swipe work, and here start my struggle: i can't remember what i did (did i cut the /data/app/com.android.nexuslauncher-1 folder and pasted it in /system/app/? Or did i download the apk again and moved it in /system/app?) but anyhow it started work flawless at the next reboot (also the swipe function!) . I have tried booth and countless other path and reboot, but there's no way to see it installed. I can of course install it whit the default android package installer.

I believe the apk must be inside a folder (like all the others)
Name that folder "nexuslauncher".
Then rename the apk file to " base.apk"
Finally, move the apk file into the nexus launcher folder, then give it the proper permissions and reboot.
Hello, thanks for the reply.
I just tried doing as you said, but still nothing. I forget to mention that if I install it manually, it get uninstalled at reboot. As attachment a couple of screenshot: the first taken when the app is installed, before the reboot, the second one taken after the reboot: the whole "installation information" tab is missing after reboot ?

Install it using the package installer, then use titanium backup to move it to the system.
Not even titanium backup worked.
This is by far the strangest thing I've ever witnessed.
For records, TB "convert to system app" feature took the Pixel launcher's app folder in /data/app, packed it as com.google.android.nexuslauncher.apk and placed it in /system/app/.
Still, it keep getting ignored on reboot.
As attachment a screenshot pre &post reboot. I do also try to remove all orphan data about PL, and deep searched the whole volume looking for PL residual, deleting anything.
I tried also flashing it with openGapps, with the same result. (Google camera, installed with the same openGapps installer, is up and working).
Now, I can totally live without PL, but I'm really curious about what's happening
A late update: in case someone at some point get through this post.
The launcher work fine (swipe right included) if I unroot the device after placing it in the app folder: still don't know why ?

place apk file in /system/app folder and install that apk file then reboot your android.
Just tried, no luck with the working apk placed in /system/app and than installed from that path. I tried also to maintain the folders structure /system/app/com.google.android.apps.nexuslauncher-1 and install from that path, still without luck: in both cases the app is gone after the reboot.
Thanks for your interest.
Ok, it's done for good.
I cleaned the /data/app folder from all the launcher installation: there were something like 5 launcher folders. Placed the APK in /system/priv-app/Nexuslauncher and installed with the "root package installer" of FX explorer instead of the standard package installer. Don't know why, and I got the filing that I already have done this a couple of thousands time, but this time it worked.

Install google service on Huawei Mate30 Pro

Preparation before installation: Huawei Mate30 mobile phone
PC computer
Data line
And Google Apps
The assistant is used to activate the device manager, as long as it is activated, don't worry about the exclamation mark.
1. Download and unzip the lzplay package (this contains the most important application data to be restored, please do not confuse with the newly downloaded lzplay package)
2, connect Hisuite (pc Huawei mobile phone assistant) click data recovery
3, find lzplay decompression package, only restore applications and data (only restore assistant application and application data, application data is the most important! application data is the most important! application data is the most important!) does not restore system settings!
4, restart the phone after data recovery
5, then download the corresponding version of the Google package and install (corresponding to the Google package and lzplay link below) Note: Install these Google packages based on all permissions
6. After the installation is complete, open the Google Service Assistant and activate the device manager.
7, restart the phone after activation is complete
8, open the settings drop-down to see if there is a google icon, if there is, then the installation is successful, if not, repeat the installation steps
After the activation is completed, you can update the Google service and play to solve the connection problem by aptoide.
It is very important to activate this step! It is very important to activate this step! It is very important to activate this step! It is very important to activate this step!
9. Enjoy it.

I am using it.
I can Confirm this.
I just did it on a Mate 30 pro from China just now with the help of this guide below:

It doesn't matter if you get an Exclamation (!) when you open the GMS app., Just proceed with the installation of the Google Apps in the package.
Some Notes:
1. After installation, reboot the device (the CHECKING INFO screen will just loop and nothing will happen if you don't reboot)
2. Go to Settings>accounts and add the Google account
3. Open Gmail and Appstore as usual and your account will be there.
4G and GSM signals are working fine.
I have downloaded and install apps from the Playstore and everything is working fine without any hiccups.
Cons;
Sometimes the Appstore will close but re-opening it again will take you where it close. (maybe its a different case for others)
Notes on the instruction video:
Instead of using an SDcard I have used an OTG USB cable and saved the backup there. (because I dont have an SD card when I do the procedure)

Hi. I have a question : After successful completion of the Goggle services installation, can I use Phoneclone in order to transfer the entire contents from my Mate 20 pro running under Emui 10 ? I.e. I wish to lake the following : (1) upon reception of my Late 30 pro, installation if the Goggle services and once done (2) use Phoneclone without any danger to brick mu phone. Thanks

How To Guide How to enable Motion Mode (Action Pan and Long Exposure in Gcam) on your Pixel 6a

Hi to all my fellow Pixel 6a users. As you know, Google thing is to develop awesome tools and then to only allow a handful of people to use them. But I don't like that, so here's a way to enable Motion Mode, i.e. Action Pan and Long Exposure, and also Audio Zoom on your Pixel 6a. It's pretty simple but I couldn't find any guides online.
Requirements :
- Magisk
- the MagiskHide Props Config module
- a terminal emulator app, Termux is great
Steps :
- Flash the module in Magisk Manager and reboot
- Open your terminal, type "su" and then "props"
- First, change device fingerprint to Pixel 6 : type successively "1", "f", "7", "28" and finally "y". Reboot.
- Once your device restarted, go back to your terminal, type "su" and then "props". Type "3" to go to Device Simulation, and then "2,3,5,10". Nothing else, else your phone may bootloop !
- Reboot and enjoy !
You may need to delete Gcam data.
I did this on my Pixel one week ago and everything still work for me (wide angle, slow motion, safety net...). You still may need to disable everything before updating your phone.
Edit :
As pointed out by sebasgc, the custom Gcam by BigKaka enables Motion Mode on all devices (tried with AGC 8.4.300.18_V_9.3).
It doesn't work for me. I do not see motion mode in the application after applying the modification. Are you using the latest official camera app for this?
That's strange, it works with the lastest stable of the play store on my pixel.
Is "Device simulation" enabled in MagiskHide Props Config ?
Did you try rebooting and erasing Gcam data ?
Yes, I tried rebooting and wipe gcam app data. It's my settings in module

Followed your guide, and got it working really easily! Thanks a lot!
I tried this guide again and it started work for me. Idk where I made mistake before. Thank you!
@Papipoulpe Hi, thank you for the work but is not working for me, I made a video.
I'm on build TP1A.221105.002, MVK Kernel, Magisk 25.2, MargiskHide Props Config v6.1.2-v137
EDIT: With stock kernel now working

It is possible that it is the MVK kernel that is causing the tutorial to not work. The first time (with MVK kernel) it didn't work for me, I made a second attempt already with stock kernel and the tutorial started working. However, this is only my theory. Someone would have to confirm if it works for them on the MVK kernel
Nice, worked for me on the latest beta! Thx
Will this prevent you from taking OTA updates, or will there be other negative side effects from having a Pixel 6 fingerprint on your 6a?
Wont work for me, im on latest december update

i finally got it working. all i did was add an extra step. but before redoing all those steps, i did reset the props and gcam data once.

before this step, on the terminal, need to enable the emulation first, which is "s" and enter. and after this just follow the step on the terminal and reboot. open camera apps, and there is motion mode. yay

Now is working, thanks mate!
sadly, i found a bug, potrait mode, at 1x is not working. 2x and front face is working. and i did noticed the processing took a bit longger than usual.
edited : well, potrait mode is still working at 1.1x , not much different, i can live with it.
Hi,
Can you please share a screenshot of the stock Gcam app where this option (Motion Mode) appears?
Is it the same things as "Cinematic Pan" ??
UPDATE: I got it working now, it is a different option that appears below the shutter button! Thanks for sharing!!
You can install BigKaka's gcam too, i got it working on that way.
