[ROM][06 May 2012] Flytouch 3 Superpad 2 TolgaMOD_FT3_v1.0 - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hello,
This ROM is based on Tim6a and www_apad_tv-ibex-Flytouch-3-Firmware-V8.
I started customizing Tim's 6a ROM for my own use, basically since I wanted to see all apps compatible with FT3 on Google Play and I wanted to use ADW Launcher. Now that my customization is complete, I wanted to share it with the xda-developers community
The ROM is built to mimic a Samsung Galaxy GIO device. This device has a much smaller screen but has an ARMv6 processor like the FT3. So all apps downloaded from Google Play should work, and with good performance since it will be the app's QVGA version. Gameloft games also recognize this device, so for example you can download and play Ice Age Village.
Credits go to Tim for his great custom ROM, Apad.tv for firmware-V8, Axlien for the build.prop ideas, chairshot215 for performance tweaks. Thank you guys!

I hope you enjoy this release!

INSTALLATION:
Unzip the contents of mod edit] to the root folder of your SDcard, and reboot FT3. When the installation is complete, don't forget to take out the SDcard and remove the installation files.
If Wi-fi is grayed out after installation, it means that your wifi card is not 0803 v1. (default) Try enabling old FT3 or 0803 v2 using Tim's scripts in Gscript Lite.
To view all apps on Google Play, follow these steps after installation:
1. Open Google Play, accept the upgrade and accept TOS.
2. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and select ALL tab.
3. Go to Google Play, clear cache and force stop (DO NOT CLEAR DATA)
4. Go to Google Services framework, clear data and force stop
5. Open Google Play, and you should get a server error. (This is normal)
6. Restart FT3 and all compatible apps should be visible on Google Play!

I will try to ensure that all info about TolgaMOD_FT3 is up to date here, and will do my best to help in case of problems. It's best to report problems by replying to this thread rather than PM, so that the solution can be viewed by all users.

Hmmm.
I'm useing one of Tim's Roms... not sure wich one. The one where the screen is always dark. I tried dling your fixed stuff put it on my sd card it said it updated took out the sd card than turned it back on, but nothing had changed, everything was still the same? I have tryed the Power button+menu+front button to factory reset it, and still tims rom is still there with no changes. I just am at a loss now... really pissed to be honest. I cant even get the thing back to it's original original settings... I want to use your packet, any suggestions?

Anyone? I have just about tried everything and I'm on my last leg. I'm about ready to just rip the case open and K.O. the battery~

Hi billypaul69,
On my FT3, I just push menu+power to do a factory reset. Perhaps you could try that button combination to do a factory reset.
About flashing my ROM: Apparently the update somehow did not complete for you. I suggest you check out this excellent video tutorial from Axlien to flash a ROM to FT3, and see if it helps: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7xdpnoHLeg
Make sure you don't turn off your device, before you see the following message on the screen:
Updating system firmware completed.
Please shutdown your device and remove the installation card!
Automatic shutdown in 1 minute.
Click to collapse
If you see any other messages such as "not complete", "wrong system file" etc. and not the one above, please report them here. It's possible that either the .zip file you downloaded got somehow corrupted or the SDcard you are using for the update is faulty. In that case try re-downloading TolgaMOD, or formatting your SDcard and try again.
I hope that my suggestions work for you! Thanks for checking out my ROM!
Regards,
Tolga

Thanks soo much i'm going to try all the steps asap.

Hi
I just installed your new rom file and everything went Ok. The only problem is that my wifi network is not working. I can activate the wifi but it cannot find any network.
I tried using gscript to install on of the wifi patches but I get the following error message
"stderrermission denide" when I run the script.
Any idea as to why this is happening ? Apart from that, you rom is very snappy in operation.

Hi jammertn,
I'm glad you like the speed of my ROM, that was one of my goals indeed. I'm pretty sure one of the wifi scripts will correct the problem. For example my tablet's wifi works with the "old FT3" fix.
The reason you are getting the "permission denied" error is because gscript was not given superuser permissions.
The first time you run gscript, there should be a pop-up screen from superuser application asking for root rights. You should select "Allow" on this window. If you don't allow it or deny root access, the scripts won't work. If you denied root access and selected "remember" the first time, please launch superuser application from the app drawer and change the status of Gscript Lite to "Allow".
Since you have wifi not grayed out I guess your wifi is 0803 v2. Please try running the "Wifi fix:0803 version2" script and then reboot your tablet.
I hope that helps!

Hi and thanks for the quick reply.
From where do I launch superuser?

Click the middle button (the one with white squares) on the dock, you will have access to all installed apps including superuser.

OK I found the application.
One more question, Something happened and now gscript only sees 3 scripts. How can I make it show all the scripts like before.
Excuse all my dumb questions but I'm new at this.

No problem mate, I think the best way is to simply re-install the ROM You can backup your current apps with Titanium Backup.

Nice, thanks a million
I got it working now.
I'll be watching this thread closely.
Keep up to great work

Yay! I'm glad it worked, c ya around.

Hi Tolga
Is there anyway to activate bluetooth on this tablet? I tried using the gscript but cannnot get is to work. Any ideas ?

Hi jammertn,
This tablet doesn't have a bluetooth chip onboard. Tim's scripts are for driving usb bluetooth dongles. I'm not sure which ones work, but maybe the thread below could have more info.
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?1358-Flytouch-3-Bluetooth-USB-dongle-testing-thread

Hi Tolga
Thanks for the reply, I have seen that thread but it does not have have any useful info in it. I tried it with an external usb/bluetootyh dongle but still no operation.

Hi,
I ran a quick web search and I haven't seen anyone successfully making a USB bluetooth dongle work on FT3. I think Tim included some kernel modules with the firmware for devs and testing purposes. So please don't assume it will work when you simply plug in any USB BT dongle.
Here's the support thread for Tim6a, there might be more info there:
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?416-Flytouch-3-Hybrid-ROM-(rooted)&highlight=bluetooth
I think I have a USB BT dongle somewhere, I will take a look if I can find it
Regards,
Tolga

has this been posted on Apad.tv or tested on the iBex Flytouch 3 by people on there?

Do you mean if this ROM has been tested or if USB bluetooth dongle has been tested? I'm pretty sure TolgaMOD runs on Ibex Flytouch 3, since it's basically a modified version of Tim6a.
Here is my ROM's thread on apad.tv:
http://www.apad.tv/apadforum/showthread.php?2675-ROM-06-May-2012-TolgaMOD_FT3_v1.0

i installed rom over Tim 6a rom but still nothing changed,, MENU+power reset also tried.. currently my Huawei data stick does not work since some weeks, thats why i need to install a fresh firmware..
merhaba, yükleme yaptim fakat yine eski tim 6a rom yüklü yani hicbir sey degismedi, hard reset yaptim yine ayni.. ayrica önceden calisan Huawei data stick bi süredir calismiyor, birseyler silinmis olmali diyerek yeni rom yüklemek istiyordum, acaba neden calismiyordur data stick?

[ROM] MoDaCo r8 modded by BeeGee

This is the first ROM I want to share. It is based on the online kitchen from MoDaCo. I used the latest version, r8. It includes 'Link2SD' by bakpinar.
I removed most of the wallpapers, and some of the applications. The most important changes:
Gallery replaced with the 32bit Gallery3D Mod - thanks to SilentMobius
Notion Ink keyboard - thanks to gojimi at XDA developers with my own graphic mod
ZEAM launcher as default - thanks to cloakt at XDA developers.
iWnnIME - Japanese keyboard (stripped from a Softbank Japan HTC Desire by myself)
Titanium Backup - thanks to Joël Bourquard - Market link.
No ads host file - thanks to dnlgee
DOS like bootanimation - thanks to original_ganjaman from XDA developers
I know the ZEAM launcher is no longer under development. But for me it runs smooth and fast. I run it on my tablet with 8 columns and 7 rows on 5 screens and still the scrolling is very fast and nearly without any lag. If you don't like it, you can of course replace it with any other launcher of your choice.
For the installation you have 3 options:
For all options first download the ZIP file from here, extract it to a directory on your PC/MAC/Linux machine.
Option 1 is for flashing the file with an USB cable:
Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your device (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)
If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)
Connect your device to your PC
At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows.bat', './install-linux.sh' or './install-mac.sh' as appropriate
Wait for your device to reboot!
Option 2 is for flashing through wireless ADB (only Windows):
Setup your WiFi ADB that it works through port 5555. Start your WiFi ADB app on your tablet. I prefer ADB over WIFI Widget, but there are other apps available.
Write down the IP address the WiFi ADB gives you.
Edit "install-windows-wifi.bat" (in the directory you extracted the files) and change line 13 => adb-windows.exe connect 192.168.1.15. Put the IP address of your tablet (from the WiFi ADB) instead of "192.168.1.15"
Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your device (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)
If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)
At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows-wifi.bat'
Wait for your device to reboot!
Option 3 is for flashing through ClockWorkRecovery.
Rename the downloaded file to "update.zip" and copy it to the root of your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
After successful flashing reboot your device
If you get problems with the USB drivers or have other difficulties, check "Advent Vega - ROMs / Software Updates / Guides / How Tos, Links to ROMs, Flash Updates, Guides, Misc apk's" on MoDaCo. There you find help for nearly every possible problem.
And as usual, I take no responsibility if you brick your device, delete all important data on your SD-card or get divorced because you spent more time with your Android tablet than with your wife. You do all this on your own risk!
And here are some screenshots:
The wallpaper you see here is the default wallpaper. I deleted all other wallpapers and there are no live wallpapers in the ROM anymore.

Oh, I forgot another small graphic change:
I changed the icons for home, menu and back in the notification bar a little bit. I didnt like the red color in the icons and changed it to green.
Portrait view:
The wallpaper is perfect dimensioned to match landscape and portrait modes. Thanks a lot to thedicemaster on MoDaCo for the tips how to achieve it.
And of course after you install the ROM, all pages are as empty as this one. The widgets you see on the other screenshots are all installed from the market.
And for the people who went thru the whole post, but didn't see the download link.
DOWNLOAD FROM HERE!
Hi there.
Which rom have you flashed this too. As far as i am aware it changes the framework back to the one in v1.08. So if flashed to v1.09 you may gain the small taskbar but as far as i am aware you will lose the full screen notifications. So you end up with a bit of a mutant rom, parts from v1.08 and v1.09.
Good to see my bootscreen is being enjoyed

As Paul's kitchen is based on 1.08 (the kitchen had its last update before the release of 1.09) my ROM is on the 1.08 framework. And it doesn't have the full screen notifications, you are right with this.
Your bootanimation is really nice, I just changed the ROM version on the first 30 pictures And in my personal ROM I show instead of the ROM version the owner info, just in case I loose my tablet somewhere
OK. I did make it very clear i did not want my work edited and posted in a thread other than the one i posted it in. I ask nothing for my work apart from this rule.
As long as you have left the "BOOT by original_ganjaman" i am happy. If not then please remove it.
Might be worth putting a warning to people about it being based on v1.08.
Good to see more people developing are vegas, keep up the good work

I changed the bootanimation.
I do not think that there is a problem with v1.08 as I my download is not an add-on, but a full ROM. You flash it and v1.08 is gone. There will be no mix between mine (MoDaCo's actually) and v1.08
Thats fine mate. I did not know pauls new release was a full rom. i thought it just effectively adb pushed the files over, leaving some previous rom files behind. Might still be nice to warn people it is v1.08 based.
Keep up the good work

My Stable NAND build (2.6.25 kernel + casacristo's RLS18 ROM)

Not-so-Super Froyo was my best rom build but too much crashes and app forecloses inched me closer to bringing back Windows Mobile. After a while of experimentations I think I found my best combo ever ---- l1q1d's 2.6.25 kernel and casacristo Valentine ROM. Thanks!!!
My screenshots. Not the default appearance though.

Here's my setup for NAND Installation: (Download all 4 files)
a. casacristo's VALENTINE ROM build (extract androidinstall.tar from the downloaded file using winrar or any rar decompression program)
http://www.ziddu.com/download/13802744/androidinstall.rar.html
b. l1q1d's 2.6.25 kernel POLAIMG.NBH
c. install-seq.sh
d. You might need to flash the kernel with this file CustomRUU.exe
(See Attached file for download links below)
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
The NAND installation doesn't work in automated mode. You have to enter the
Android BOOT Menu mode and install from there. Resetting the phone also will not work. You have to enter the Boot Menu and press Exit. OR you can rename the file install-seq.sh to anything so reboot works automatically.
Try these STEPS for installing Android on your Polaris NAND:
IF YOU ARE NEW TO MODDING ANDROID ON YOUR POLARIS I SUGGEST TRYING l1q1d's TUTORIALS FIRST. I suggest you have newer bootloader and radio. Im not responsible for what you do with your phone anyway.
1. Create a folder named Andboot on your SD card and copy the 2 files androidinstall.tar and install-seq.sh inside the folder.
2. Insert your SDCard on your Polaris.
3. Go to Bootloader Mode by pressing RESET once while pressing down the Camera button.
4. Once the 3-color Bootscreen comes out, connect your Polaris to your Computer thru the USB cable and check that the screen says "USB" and not "SERIAL" anymore.
5. Put CustomRUU.exe and POLAIMG.NBH together inside any folder and RUN CustomRUU.exe. Follow the instructions on screen. When the format is over your phone will reset and Android installation begins.
6. HOLD PRESS the Volume UP button until the installation texts roll on the screen and you come into the Android Boot Menu. IF YOU DONT, then RESET the phone and do it again.
7. Choose the menu "Install System" and let Android install for a while.
8. Installation finished. Choose Exit and let Android roll. Congratulations.
WHAT'S WORKING?
I tried the following...
Camera, WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, Removable Disk Mode in USB works when connecting USB while logging in to Windows, ... Battery is more accurate.
WHAT's NOT WORKING?
VideoCamera... dont ever try it freezes; Install to SD...nope!
WHAT's NEW?
New Market, New Battery Image, No frequent forecloses, lesser resets
WHAT's IN?
Comes installed with GOLauncherEX (I preferred LauncherPro), SwiFTP, APNdroid, and more.
I recommend the following apps (tried and tested):
*Contapps for Contacts (syncs with FB, Twitter to name a few)
*ChompSMS for Messaging
*LauncherPro for Launcher
*Friendcaster for Facebook
*QuickPic for Gallery
*FileExpert for File Navigation
*GPS Essentials
*KS Uninstaller
*Easy Installer
*ClockQ
*Tubemate
I trying it now. I have had problem with installing apps in app store but after phone restart is all ok. I love the speed of this system
Thanks for trying. Thanks by the way to l1q1d for his kernel and Atools and tech. I chose to use his 2.6.25 kernel since that has working camera. You might wanna try with the latest 2.6.32 kernel maybe more results would be favorable. If you can find a better setup pls share also, for now I'd be sticking with this combo. The battery status by the way is accurate and reliable. I got 5% juice and the phone is still working though reminding me to connect to charger. Previously on the Froyo combination the phone is dead at 25%.
Question
Hey guys. First of all thank you for posting this thread, and second, can you please tell me if i can use this build with haret, not nand. I tried to install it but i didnt succed. Can you please help me?
I can't install it too? Everytime i see can't extract the files, after it reboot and hold the vol up bottom?
Hmm sorry my mistake, i forgot to unpack "androidinstall.tar"
I'm gonna comment after use
Seems to work proberly? You say install on nand, but why does it still use the sdcard when reboot?
I have a problem.
After I installed it,I turn off my phone and turn on it again.
I failed to boot the android,it says "Failed to format".
Plz help me!
oh sorry. i know what's wrong now.
Hello again guys. I have managed to install it in haret. I must say its fast but still not so "super" . It doesnt load the market (gives me a server side error), launcher freezes. I will test it some more and get back asap.
LE: Seems to be working. I dont know how, but it is. I am downloading apps as i type. And btw, the battery indicator is much accurate then before. Thank you again.

When you boot it,you should hold pressing the volume up button. You'll find that you are in Boot Menu. Press "Quit". Then it'll be fine.
I'm having a load of trouble doing this, probably cause im a noob :[
i followed the instructions but ended up with a white flashing screen and couldn't do anything. I've just installed the original software windows mobile 6.1 and I'll try again. Hope i can get it to work this time!
does androidinstall.tar need to be unpacked, or do i just unpack that file from the rar?
i did the same thing ... i didnt unpacked the archive and it didnt worked. so you should unpack and try again.
same thing has happend again with just the .tar file on there, my phone completes the installation and when it goes to boot up it vibrates twice and flashes on the white screen, any help would be appreciated
The issue lies on the kernel (POLAIMG.NBH). Your Polaris could have a different panel coz there are actually other types. Please read l1q1d's original tutorial on how to use Atools to obtain a kernel suited for that phone. Just try one of the panel type from that tutorial and if it dont work try the other. You can always use the androidinstall.tar file from this post with that kernel.
thanks for your nice work...

Should work for:
Gogear Connect 3 8gb SA3CNT08
Gogear Connect 3 16gb SA3CNT16 (not tested. may need to edit drivers with proper device ids)
Now there are Pre-Rooted custom roms. look at the bottom of the post for a link to the guide.
this is 32 bit only at the moment
on the official Phillips support forum they stated that the developers wouldn't give out the adb drivers, so i used the method found on hikboys thread to make my own.
Now its an actual guide!
1. Put your Connect 3 into "Debug Mode"
a. From the home screen, press the Menu button below the screen.
b. Tap the Settings option.
c. Choose Applications.
d. Select Development.
e. Check the box for USB Debugging to turn it on.
2. Plug in The USB cable
3. After the drivers install, uninstall them in the device manager
4. refresh the drivers and you will see device that says go gear connect
5. install the ADB driver, linked at the bottom of the page, for the go gear connect in the device manager
6. download the newest copy of super one-click from here
7. open super one-click and change the exploit drop down menu to "zergRush"
8. click on the root button and let it do its thing.
9. click OK on the popup to install busybox.
10. after that it may ask you to verify root, allow it to
11. you are now rooted. do a happy dance.
I Have Figured out how to unbrick and flash this device if you have Messed it up while having root privileges. this method can also be used to install custom roms once some are made. if people need the repair/flash method or wanna work on roms let me know in the comments and i will post the files and guides needed for it.
this guide is by mateo1212
Now there are pre-rooted custom roms check out the guide Here
just figured out updating definantly removes the root but you can use the same method to re root.
processor information for the curious=
800mhz arm v7 Cortex A8
Freescale i.MX51 EVK board
very awesome! i just got this for my son for xmas, root will be awesome. so much bloat on this thing.
going to try rooting now. Thanks again.
**edit** i gave this a try and it worked flawlessly. Very happy to be able to remove all of the bloat that comes with this device.
How do I upgrade driver to adb interface? I've rooted other devices and never saw this instruction before. Thanks
I got it rooted. Thanks so much
What I did is uninstall the original driver that installs when you connect the device. After you uninstall, reconnect it to your pc, use the drivers here to allow for adb.

hey. im glad my post is helping you guys. i have some thing i would like input on.
1. im in the process of working on a custom rom for this device, should i continue?
let me know. thanks
also if people with the 16gb version can give me there device ids i can make custom adb drivers for your devices also, because this method will work for your devices
Im actually thinking about purchasing this for myself and was a little skeptical until i saw it can be rooted..whats ur opinions on this device? is it worth it? im one click away from ordering. And id definately be interested in custom roms for this.
this is a pretty cool little device. the only thing i have a problem with is the screen size. its a little small for my fat fingers but in the end you get used to it pretty quick. there is a lot of bloatware on it also but after you root you can get titanium backup and remove alot of it. i personally love the songbird music program they have installed. it is soooo much better than the stock music player. some apps dont show up in market but you can always sideload them(downloading the apks to the pc and copying them over to the sdcard then using a file explorer to install them). in all i think if you dont mind the smaller screen it will be a good buy after you root it.
Yea the screen size is what I'm really worried about I've gotten used to the 4inch screen on my phone...I'm torn between this and the galaxy 4.0
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
yea my gf is going to be getting the galaxy player 4.0 around income tax time. she does not like the fact that my mp3 player does not have a camera..lol from what i have seen the galaxy player 4.0 is pretty easily rooted but there isn't any custom firmware for the us version i have only found custom roms for the uk and korean versions.
right now im working on making a rom thats as close to stock AOSP as i can get that includes root and some other helpful software.
im also going to make a custom themed rom with the Espier Launcher as the default launcher and im going to make it clone ipod as much as possible.
the processor is the freescale imx515 so im going to work on compiling my own custom rom from scratch as the hardware is similar to the evaluation board kit. but thats down the road. the first few roms will be based off of the stock rom
i expect my first rom to be out tonight or tomorow during the day

When i uninstall drivers, I'm not able to install the new ABD drivers yet, when i uninstall the drivers, the device goes away. When i scan for changes, it installs the stock one, when ii try to update drivers, it says drivers up to date.... any help please.... Thanks
Windows 7 x64 OS
well first off. according to your post you are running windows 7 x64 and this is only for windows 7 x86. to get it working in x64 i need to finish the drivers and then i dont know if you will need to deal with driver signing issues.
if you are doing it in windows x86 make sure to delete the driver that shows up under "universal serial bus controllers" section it will show up as "USB Mass Storage Device" all you have to do is un plug it and plug it back in to figure out whitch one it is. but i repeat if you are running x64 THIS WILL NOT WORK
Fear not though i will soon be posting a few custom roms that are already rooted.
i have 5 in progress now
1 thru 3 are done i just need to gather up the files and write up the guide
1.the stock rom that comes with the device except its rooted and has a few extra utilitys
2.the stock rom that comes with the device except it is stripped of the bloatware and it is rooted and has a few extra utilitys
3.A close to AOSP rom, or atleast the best i can get, with root and a file browser and only the radio app from the normal rom (even has stock android boot screen)
4. A ROM that makes this device loosely imitate the iPod touch
5. totally themed ROM using launcher pro as the default launcher and it will keep the songbird app for music like the two stock ROMs. it will also have root
Ordered one last night now waiting for it to get here...

Here's gapps and superuser that was included when @vo-1 posted this on needrom.com
(I'll be happy to remove this on your request)

NOTE: unzip the file you download, the zips inside can be flashed in recovery (so it's superuser and gapps seperately)
Awesome job and awesome rom vo-1..!!
спасибо!:victory:
Youth version reuploaded, battery fixed!
I am having problems with this rom, i have followed the development of this rom, i have flashed multiple versions of the youth rom, and the elite version.
Sometimes at the first boot, it would say "phone memory corrupted, please format"
And sometimes, after a while of using it, it would suddenly freeze, or show a black screen, and if i then pull the battery to make it respond, the whole phone would have reset itself to a few days ago, meaning i lost installed apps of the past few days, whatsapp chat history, pictures taken which are on my sd card!
If anyone could help me fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated!

Do a bypass unmounting phone, it's only way
a tutorial or something like that, dunno what you are talking about tbh.
Coloros worked with the volume buttons
Edit: I found a tutorial that explains how to do it, but my skills don't go that far to compile it.

vo-1 is it possible to support init.d? Maybe we can get more performance with some tweaks, what do you think about?:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the reply, i have formatted the phone memory multiple times already before flashing.. and when i am on jelly bean (which i am now) everything works just fine. Could it be something with the flashing of Gapps or Superuser?

My First Build!!! Lollipop From Source!! Nww with 5.0.2_r1 and Tethering and F2FS

Hi all,
New Build!!! With Fixed Location Service!!!!
http://d-h.st/Plzo
Could you please test this out, @jiri.bati.novak and @sur1k?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merry Christmas all and to celebrate, here's the new build with Android 5.0.2_r1

Enjoy the New Year Celebrations!! As before, please let me know if you face any issues.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As promised, here is the New Tar file containing Android 5.0.1!!
Remember to Backup Data!! This build also adds mounting USB Drives using an OTG cable. (Thanks to Cyanogenmod's work). You can go to Settings > Storage to mount and unmount drives. I'm working on having a notification to enable mounting/unmounting from Notification tray itself. As before, /data is F2FS. The Kernel has been reworked to a better Dithering solution for the display. Tethering support (USB/WiFi/Bluetooth).
Follow the guides below to Flash (Sorry I don't know how to make OTA package yet)
jiri.bati.novak
I will post all the diffs later.
If you like this, please feel free to thank me!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have moved on to AOSP 5.0.1!! I will upload the files later but for now here's a Screenshot:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've managed to build the system from source. This is a Nexus7 3G build and I do not know whether it will work on the WiFi version. Please note that this is not a ROM and I am a total noob (who does not yet know how to build a ROM).
Please don't hold me responsible if your device goes Kaput. I will look into the issue but I do not have any idea what I'd be doing
Find the Archive here:
This archive has:
boot.img (F2FS supporting kernel with errdiff dither for better colour rendering)
System.img (Has WiFi/USB/Bluetooth Tethering Support)
Userdata.img
radio.img (For Flashing Radio)
openrecovery.img (TWRP to format /data to F2FS)
bootloader.img (If you completely mess up)
fastboot (linux)
adb (linux)
lollipop flash.sh (Must be Run as Root)
Only experienced users! Must use Linux.
Use TWRP to backup your data as it is a destructive process. This is not "ALL-F2FS". Only the /data partition is in F2FS.
1. Untar
2. Reboot into fastboot mode
3. Run "lollipop-flash" as root
4. Once flashing is done it will reboot to fastboot. Boot to recovery and format the /data partition to F2FS
The following steps can be done later after booting for the first time
5. In Recovery mode, Install RIL Fix. Open recovery supports MTP and OTG so you can copy the fileform your PC. Or you can use a OTG cable and a pendrive to flash the file.
6. Reboot Sytem
7. Verify System is usable
8. Install Gapps-Lollipop
9. Wipe cache, format data and change filesystem to F2FS and then wipe /data (Just to be sure)
10 Enjoy.
You can then restore /data from your backup using TWRP
Please note, I am fairly new to ROM building hence the complicated process. I will not be responsible for if your device is bricked. If you like this then suggest what else I should add to this. If you need any help please feel free to Message Me!
Thanks:
@rjwil1086 and @ajbiz11
Nice work.. Are you willing to share the steps you used to build from source?
Can you upload the 5.0.1 images, please? ☺
Couldn't get it to work in Linux Mint so I used Nexus Root Toolkit. Any differences in 5.0.1? Anyway to root?
Post Updated!!!
Hi, Posted my new build! With USB Mass Storage support for USB-OTG!! You can also root with Super-SUv2.37 . I've been doing it and it's working perfectly.
Why the kernel does not support overclock.

@slashworkninja great work, man... :good: does the new image contain the ril fix, or do we need to flash it as it was with the 5.0?
It unfortunately doesn't. You need to flash it in recovery.

Can you explain what the problem is? I can get a GPS lock on my Nexus 7 and Maps and Navigation are working too.

Well, I did not test the GPS outdoors for the lack of time and according to the GPS status app it should ve working, but the "network location" seems to be offline - for example the chronus widget cannot get the location for the weather forecast, Google maps are "waiting for location", same for the "News & weather" app... I think that there may be some trouble with fused location or Google Play services, but I cannot figure out anything from the logcat output...
Which version of Google Play services package are you using, can you check it?
I believe this is a Play Services bug. Try installing/updating Maps and the other Google apps. Turn on High Accuracy Mode in Location settings. Try clearing the app's cache too from App settings.

I have the same suspicion, but I've tried all the suggested steps with no luck. Still, reinstalling the apps is not the solution, it must be in the play services itself or the fused location service. That is why I was asking for the version of your - apparently working - config...
Can you give me some logs? I'll take a look. Also, can you confirm that 3G data is working?

3G Data is working correctly, no problems with mobile data whatsoever. Had the tablet with me today, now I did get the logcat of the google maps starting and clicking on "current location" fab, which displays the last known position the system got from GPS lock. So true, GPS is working correctly, only the "network location" is going haywire.... Google Play Services version 6.5.99 (1642632-434)...
That's surprising as I'm using an older version! I have everything updated too.

Hmmm, I will try downgrading to same version again, which is what I wanted to do anyway... Next on list is the clean-slate reflash...
@slashworkninja So... I have ended reflashing 5.0.1 from the start. Just noticed, that the backup services is set to debug-only cache. Well, there goes my setup, nevermind though... Still no network location, same version of play services as you. Oh well, seems like getting lollipop work properly on tilapia is going to be harder than it seems... If only I had fast machine, I would try to build for myself, but with my setup, I'm looking on three to four days of grinding, not to talk about disk usage...
I'm sorry it happened. But I did take a look at the logcat.
I am fairly new to this but I think this might be the issue:
W/ResourcesManager(21400): Asset path '/system/framework/com.android.media.remotedisplay.jar' does not exist or contains no resources.
W/ResourcesManager(21400): Asset path '/system/framework/com.android.location.provider.jar' does not exist or contains no resources.

These files do exist in the locations. So maybe there is a mismatch somewhere.
I checked, and these files do exist, at least after clean reflash...
