Thanks for sharing this with us. But since you're not asking a question here, maybe you should just take your phone to a service center.

[Q] Charging the Gtab

Hi. I looked but did not find an answer to this question. Can you charge the Gtab through either the micro or standard USB? I can't find anything in the manual (very poor manual).
I know you normally can charge a device using the USB. I have a micro usb car charger and would love to use it.
You cannot. The USB ports do not have enough OOMPH for that.

The Viewsonic G Tablet was not designed to be charged with any of the USB ports.
You must use the standard charging port for that.

The battery on the GTablet requires more power than the usb ports can provide in order to conduct it's charging, so no....neither the usb port nor mini usb will charge the unit.

[Q] Asus Proprietary plug to USB converter? or anthing similar out there?

I was wondering if there is any such device / cord which would convert the Asus proprietary plug on the transformer to a USB cord or something so I could plug in different things without having to buy the keyboard....
Yes it does exist:http://www.asus.com/Peripherals_Accessories/Eee_Pad_Accessories/External_USB_Adapter/
Could you charge the tablet with a regular USB cable using that adapter?
Only when in deep sleep or turned off - but it charges.

No because the USB adapter linked only outputs 5v on the USB port, its not an input.
The USB socket is the wrong type for normal USB cables used for charging, but even a USB-A to USB-A adapter wont allow charging and may even destroy the USB adapter (well, it might not, but I certanly wouldnt want to try it!)
That is sort of what i was afraid of. I was hoping that since I can use the propietary cable, I would be able to switch to a longer cable with the help of the adapter.

Just attach an usb3.0 cable to the propietary cable. Then you have a longer cable.
I'am using this with the tablet and charger.
It has to be USB 3.0 cable? Dang, I actually do have an older extension cable somewhere (forgot all about it until I read your post) but it is pre-3.0, but hey, if i find it I will at least give it a try, not like something would brake, right? Right??
hmm...I had asked this in my thread, but no one has given me a straight answer. Looks like it wouldn't work even with Male A to Male A. I already bought one, so maybe I'll give it a try. Has anyone done so before?

Yes, it must be a usb 3.0 cable.
I have this one and can charge the tablet with this cable attached to the propietary cable and the asus charger
Just tried it again and it is now charging.
That is cool, but I was hoping it would be in a "cord" form because imagine you would have that sticking out from your device, then on top of that you would have your usb plug sticking out as well...
Also, would this work with something like a wireless keyboard and mouse? (the wireless receiver is USB)...

[Q] Quick Usb question

OK so here is my problem: every time I connect a USB via the micro USB port the device doesn't detect the USB. However sometimes if i am lucky I only need to twist the cable and it works shortly. Probably the cable is destroyed, anyone know if I need exactly this cable or if I could also use a normal micro USB adapter cable. Thank you.

Well, I'm a bit confused, as the 70x has actually 2 cables.
1. The USB cable that connects to a PC
2. The USB dongle adapter that has a full size USB connector (female) for connecting flash sticks for example.
Regardless, as in number 1, you can't use just any micro USB cable, like the one that comes with a camera for example. You might, but then again, the data connections may be wrong. Best thing is to try. Typically I use my HTC cable. Regardless, you won't damage anything by trying.
As in number 2, well, it may be hit and miss if you get a generic one. The + and - pin layout should be the same, but the data might be different. The only way is to check.
When you twist your cable, make sure it's not actually twisting the connector (micro). This may give false readings, when in fact it could be a damaged micro USB port on the Tab. So check it good.

ok thanx. found a working cable.

About USB OTG

Hi guys, a friend of mine have and old Samsung android based phone.
I was thinking about give it a better use as an android tv box/media player, but I have a few questions, main concerning USB OTG.
I could use a USB OTG Y cable, so I could charge the phone while using it, and still have the OTG... could I connect an USB hub to the OTG so I could use a USB mini keyboard and a mouse?.
My other problem is the micro usb port and the HDMI conection to the TV. I could use a cable to connect the phone to the TV but then I couldn't connect the USB OTG. It's possible to connect HDMI and still use USB OTG???

I live on latin america. A chromecast is way more expensive than a bunch of cables.

Well... just so you know you can't have the phone charging and in OTG mode in the same time. Not even with adapters. This is because the current in USB can't flow in both directions in the same time (because there aren't enough dedicated wires)

otg access to usb and charge tablet at same time

hI everyone in regard to otg using Usb and charging tablet at same time, I have a fusion5 tablet and a usb hub the kind with 3 usb hubs and a power in with a micro usb male plug. and a switch for otg or charge. Ive tried using a potentiometer to find the magic resistor value between pin 4 (the id ) and pin 5 ground of the micro plug.
(thought i had it at one point but not sure) as could play a avi file while charging) However now most of the timee either accesses the usb or charges, I can get it to do both , but stops charging after 8 seconds.
Anybody happen to know if a specific resistance value works for both charging and otg.
I have seen another schematic but havent tried it.
It doesn't sound like the micro usb otg cable to me. I built one without a resistor and mine works just fine. Have a look at your usb settings. Some devices require you select your choice: usb otg or charging.

Thanks How do I look at my usb settings?. I think I may not have the proper resistor setting as will currently provide power to usb and charge at same time for a few seconds then stops charging.. I turn resistance up it will charge , turn it down and will allow access to usb.. i think have to find that magic number inbetween.

Depending on which phone and version of Android you have, the most recent versions of Android have the USB settings under Developers Options.
The USB OTG charging works differently from phone to phone. Sometimes you must plug your charger cable and the USB device you want to connect to into the OTG cable prior to plugging the OTG cable into your phone. This way the phone detects charging and device.

Yes that is what I have been doing . In developer options under Usb default , no charge option there, only file transfer, USB tEThering, MID, PTP ,and o data transfer
I thanks. However i believe the default USB option is charge as thats what it is when i plug in USB to a powered cable.
. As I said jt works for A short time using USB and charging at same time with resistor between 45K and 68k
then either stops charging and continues usb or keeps charging but gives usb errrors or cant access usb but continues charging.
Fusion5 tablet android 9
Update this works fine with unmodified USB hub or charge power and USB on my LG k32 phone but not on the fusion ta blet.
