Confirmed this is working on CM Nightly. Good stuff.
The hassle of re adding all my widgets and shortcuts.. and the fact that this is only 7. 8. 1 while 7. 9. 0 was just released is keeping me from doing this..

That worried me as well. The good news is I was able to install today's update over the previous themed launcherpro. No need to redo widgets with each update (at least for now).
this is awesome. this should be added into the actual theme.
Maybe im stupid but how do i uae those widgets for free? It keeps asking me to pay when i try to use.

These are not the widgets . This is a theme for them. To get the Launcher pro widgets you have to buy the paid version of LP . Then you can get this very nice theme for them for free
Are there any launchers like nova updated for KitKat with transparent status/nav? I really want to keep a few bits but need more customisation standard sucks

Also waiting for this, I had a sweet setup on my N4 with Nova Prime but i hate the black nag bars and status bar!
Sent email to Apex devs and they said they already working on integrating new features from KitKat such as transculency, etc
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
May have to buy apex then if they beat nova on this one. If anything it helps support the devs

I just found myself wondering what has kept me from buying full Apex already.
I hoping Apex will update soon because the stock icons are huge. My N5 feels like a jitterbug. but the transparent nav and status are so awesome i can live with the huge icons for now.

Missing features that I use. I've tried Nova many times and always go back to Apex in the end.

I ran Nova on GB and when ICS first released, Apex was first to update. So I used them. Eventually went back to Nova for one specific reason... Can't remember what it is though. I know I've tried apex since but it was still missing this mystery feature I guess because I'm back on Nova...

I've used Nova since my Nexus S but I did previously use (and buy) Apex so I'm all paid up on both! Come on, one of your get transparency in there!

What features does Nova lack that Apex has?
The only feature I've noticed that is exclusive to Apex is the ability to make the search bar look like the tablet version. I emailed the Nova developer about this like nine months ago, and he said he may decide to add it in the future, but he obviously didn't.
Other than that, I haven't noticed anything exclusive to Apex.

Last time I checked it couldn't remove app labels in the app drawer and still had wide margins on the bottom of the home screens that couldn't be reduced/removed when the dock is absent. Apex does both of those.
Apex functions I need
Infinite scroll
Scrollable app bar
Gesture launch
KitKat has redundant access to google now / search. Swipe left, swipe up from home icon, say google now on any page. Why do we need all 3?
Also I dont want to have google now 1st screen to left. I like to have mail, calendar productivity full screen widgets to left then have music, news, reading widget apps to the right. My preference is no icons on screen above the app bar. Full screen widgets look great on such a nice screen. Simplicity please

Nice, I didn't know you could do that with the bottom margin on Apex.
I thought this was a "when do the launchers get updated" discussion, not a "apex vs nova" discussion...they´re pretty much the same thing though...one is red and the other one is blue (yea i know you can change colors )....anyways...i already paid for the full apex launcher, so update fast please

I tried this and immediately uninstalled. Turns the app drawer a horrible Samsung blue color. Blinkfeed too. The themes didn't fix it..
Just horrible looking, IMO.

Unfortunately you're going to hate Sense 7 then.
For the time being... Once someone starts modding colors and creates a sense7toolbox for xposed it will be fine. My biggest problem is the lack of customization.
Also to topic sense home was a huge disappointment.

Sorry for the late reply..I ditched my HTC. Just go into apps and uninstall update. It will revert to the old Sense.

If you're rooted you can use System App Remover. It just works reliable and you can test first to freeze the apps you want just to see if it messes with system stability. If it does you can undo and if it doesn't, you can permanently uninstall.
System app remover works well
It's almost impossible to delete an important module or app as they're classified and can be undelete from recycle bin.
Do not remove apps you don't know the purpose of. If you can find the app in Play Store, most probably it is safe to remove.

For now, a different home launcher is the only remedy.

Native weather app can be removed. It's not found in play store.
Dialer, contacts and some others cannot, even if replaced by others.

Yes. That's why I said most probably.

Even so with some modding, patient, time and risk all apps could be replaced.
Some Modaco custom ROMs have stock Huawei apps replaced with Google's to provide vanilla-ish experience.
Sent from my honor 5X using XDA Labs
There is nothing special with modaco roms, just bloatware less optimised stock rom

"Preloaded Widget" by MartinWei.
If it got my hometown right as my current location I wouldn't be look looking to disable it later tonight. It just scrapes AccuWeather for all is info anyway.

I see. There are way better alternatives too.

I do transparent clock and weather as it seems light, complete and good looking.
As a dumb American I appreciate that it gives the options of either Celsius and Fahrenheit temps, but the same option for km/h and mph wind speeds would be nice to have as well. Plus we use coal not wind power, so a plume of black smoke that moves at different speeds would be a better icon/animation than wind turbines.

If it's just EMUI you don't like maybe try Nova Launcher, i really like it, gives app drawer and Android feel, my opinion anyways

Do you have any workaround for the ugly notification drawer?

Nope, you can only use another launcher. Or another theme.
I'm pretty sure the notification shade is built into the OS, so you can't really do much about it aside from waiting for EMUI 5.0's which looks nicer.

Use theme editor from play store and you can change notification drawer background color
Patience is a virtue.

Also changing background wallpaper makes an impact on the readability of the notifications.

I'm too expecting it. As I'm unable to read some of the notifications. Ex:Gmail... Its coming as black in color with little transparent black background. So can't read it.
However I can't Expect EMUI 5 also.
As i've modified the launcher and misc apps throughout the phone... i hope more devlopers hop on this device and create a pixel type OS port or even something without the EMUI :/
