Is there a way to visually tell the difference between a 7th and 8th gen HD 8? I found this side by side comparison photo and the 8th gen has black buttons but I wasn't sure if that was the same of all 8th gen models.

I have Three 8th gen.. All of them have black buttons. I believe this was standard for all 8th gen.

The buttons on the Fire HD 8 (2018) are the same colour as the case, e.g. my yellow one has yellow buttons.

That could be it. My wife's 2017 HD 8 is the red one with silver buttons. My son's 2017 HD 8 is black with silver buttons. My 2018 HD 8 is black with black buttons.

Motorola Droid 3 Coming On July 7?
engadget said:
The Motorola Droid 3 already appeared in Best Buy's computer system back at the beginning of May but so far we don't know anything exact regarding its release date, though it shouldn't be far off.
According to Droid-life sources, the Motorola Droid 3 is being targetted by Verizon for a July 7 announcement date. While this still belongs in the Rumor category though, popular smartphone game producer Gameloft has added the phone as the "Motorola XT862 Droid 3" to their list of compatible devices. The codename fits as the Droid 3 surfaced with the same numbering on NenaMark's website a month ago.

Nice, but can i haz unlocked bootloaders?
Global radio connectivity (as in a worldphone) would be sweet too.
Half of me hopes it is, half of me hopes its not...I just got the X2 yesterday and my next upgrade isn't until August D:
Locked down + pentile display = no thx
Great.
I hope they include a Tegra 2
Is it 4g LTE?

Unlocked bootloader?
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
TI OMAP4 4430 and now that TI's OMAP4's support Netflix HD the Droid 3 has a bit more game in it. Yeah I know no 4G, NOT everyone lives in a 4G Market so why would they buy a 4G phone and have the batter life suck while the phone searches for a 4G signal.
Just 7 months and we have the new design of the latest Note. WOOT!

Today is 1 April. Did you hear about April Fools Day?
The ironic thing is that this post is probably just as accurate as all the 'leaked' specs we'll be seeing in the next few months... (Remember the S5 with UHD screen, 4GB RAM, aluminium case, 64bit 3.0ghz cpu and unbreakable glass screen?)
I want something like the original padfone, with a focus on casting to be like a desktop.
Ideal setup --->
Photovoltaic Wireless Mouse, and Keyboard
~27" dual 4k monitors
7", 10", 13", and 17" tablet docks with battery and Attachable keyboards with battery.
Quad-booting of OSx, Android, Ubuntu, and Windows
Minimum 3" smartwatch
Minimum 1440p Mirasol Display
Access to Thermal Throttling Table
If some OEM's start integrating this list of devices, I'll be incredibly happy.

Just ordered a two pack, so I guess I'm going to find out.
Dont buy clear in rhat design it will cause flash halo in pictures.
They have another design with the led cam open, that one is better if you buy the clear version.
Just received my black and blue 2 pack. These cases are fantastic! I love the feel, slim as can be, and you can't beat the price.

Hello friends,
I have a hardware related question to ask.
Is this a faulty power button??
I bought 3 of this phone, so I can compare between them.
One of them had the power button slightly sinking into the phone body.
(# 3 is the one with the lower level of the power button)

All 3 of them are functional "NOW", but I'm worried if the #3 button will further sink into the machine "in the future", and at that time the warrant might have expired, so I will have to pay for the "wear and tear".
If this is likely a possibility in the future, gonna request a new one exchange.
Thanks
#1 : blue
#2 : bronze
#3 : black
Mine is almost completely flat too, pretty much like your #3. Nothing to worry about I hope

Very interesting! I read in another article that according to the FCC certification information, the device looks like it will also have a GPS receiver and NFC support. TabletMonkeys 2023 Fire HD 10 article
If it has a fingerprint reader, a GPS receiver, and NFC support, it should be a nice step up hardware-wise, even if it's still on WiFi 5 and thus not a flagship device as such.
I just wish I knew when it was going to release, as I have an active 20% off Fire tablets offer on my account just waiting for it to release, especially at a discount.
