I want to get the above device set up so I can use it as a vpn hotspot for when a device connects to it.
Is this possible?

Well as the title says, is it possible to connect the nexus to an ad hoc connection if yes, how?
I create one on my laptop (router not working, using broadband meanwhile), network it's working because my iPod is able to see the network and to connect but I,m not able to see the network on the Nexus S.
Is it possible to connect to an ad hoc connection on android? Am I missing something to be able to connect to this network?

Android doesn't support this yet. Get wifi analyzer and check it out. It can see the network, but it can't connect.

Try changing your ad hoc wireless encryption to WEP.
Hi,
I'm using my xoom in my car as a movieplayer for the kids. The xoom is mounted on a headrestmount.
Is there a way to control the xoom with my (android) phone ? I just need basic functions like select movie, play, stop etc. So basically a mediaplayer remote would be good enough. Thanks for your input !
How about a tablet remote?
Yes, and you need droidmote. You install droidmote server on xoom and then droidmote on your android phone. At the moment both devices have to be on the same wifi network but in trying to get the developers to consider adding a bluetooth connection like with tablet talk.

Does droidmote require your phone to be rooted or the Xoom to be rooted?

SO if they have to be on the same network, Cant you simply mobile hotspot your phone and connect the XOOM to it via WIFI and then their on the same network? Then the remote app should work.
No, you don't need to be rooted. And I hadn't thought of that to be honest. Tablet talk lets you use either local wifi or a direct bluetooth connection to communicate and this would probably be the easiest way of doing so.
Thank you for this recommendation. My zoom continues to be unresponsive when charging, so its great to be able to use a remote for is when I have it in the dock.

I use HDMI with Samsung's connector. They have an over rhe air device but reviews are mixed. I will eventually get it to see. But hdmi works flawless. I get to use my plasma as a big screen the type & images are super crisp. I put my tablet on a tripod and use the touch screen as a remote controller.
I have the Allshare Cast Dongle and it goes fine. I use it with my N8000, S4 and Note 2.

Chromecast only works with certain apps. It's not a true miracast.

I bought a cheap rockchip miracast dongle off aliexpress, I will do a short review when it arrives. I'm not even sure if miracast function works but at least it has dlna.
Chromecast is great for the computer as you can mirror the entire screen, but it only works with certain applications on the phone atm.

I've currently got a pebble steel watch which I can use to locate my phone if I lose it, but only if it's within bluetooth range, which it never is when I lose it.
Can the Gear 2 connected to wifi be used to find it's associated phone if it's on the same wifi network?
Thanks
Yes, just tried it out for you by switching off Bluetooth on my phone and then used the Gear S2 Find my phone feature successfully, while the watch was connected remotely, ie via WiFi.

What apk is used when connecting a shield accessory? Or do I need to modify the settings.apk file?
I have a Fire TV Game controller 2 and would like to connect it to my xiaomi mi box. From what i've found on xda, it will only work if it is connected as a shield accessory.
