Hey people.
I have i simingly small problem but a very real one with my Z3 D6603
What i have done:
1. Unlocked bootloader with unlock code from sony dev site and adb in fastboot mode. Succsessfuly, checked service meny. All Ok so far.
2. I realized that i should haved backed up my drm keys when i upon next boot noticed i lost a couple sony stock features i like.
3. I followed this thred to the letter with a little reasonable thinking.
I used "D6603_23.0.1.A.5.77_IT.ftf" for TA partition restore. and "D6603_23.1.A.0.690_CentralEurope.ftf" for LP Stock.
4. I Used "Z3_ADV_stock_LP_v2" as kernel flashed in adb as fastboot. Everything else is flashed in Sony flash tool in flash mode on Z3.
5. Finally flashed "DRM Function Restoration for Xperia Lolipop V2.zip" in twrp.
6. Rebooted - Back to twrp flashed Chainfire Root zip 2.46 - rebooted.
All fine till this Point.
All working twrp 2.8.5.0 plus root.
Time for Xposed. Recovery - flashed "arm 15-03-08" rebooted. Install apk xposed alpha 2.
Download module "Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons" - check it for activation - reboots and NOW the problem beggins!!!
It get completely stuck at "SONY text in the beginning. I force shut it down by Power + Volume Up.
I dont remember exactly but the last can have been done Before i did a complete reflash for restoring sony orig features. (step 3)
7. Fresh install with root, sony orig features and twrp.
8. Install Xposed no problem. Installing "gravetyBox LP 5.0.6 Alpha.
9. Rebooting and starting to load bootanimation 5-6 seconds later it gives an ugly best described as hardware fail sound Sharp but dim tone and starts to bootlooping.
10. At this poing i can only get up and running by booting in to twrp - whipe - advanced wipe - chache and dalwik chache - reboot system it "optimizing 306 apps of about 15 minutes each time. Then its alive with everything working again. Root, Xposed, modules system and so on.
I have tried Another kernel "Z3_AndroPlusKernel_v51.zip" flashed via adb and fastboot. This resulted in a brick phone, not a Life sign at all.
adb and fastbooted z3. Flashed this kernel resulting in working phone with twrp 2.8.6.0 after Another step 10 procedure again.
Please, Please help! It would be fun to be able to shut down or rebooting my Z3 without this huge hang-bootloop problem. I finally got Everything working exept for above issue.
Im basicly stuck right now and just avoiding turning it off.
Come on all great xda people, help a fella in need!
I have got twrp on my pixel no problem but i can not get magisk to install with out bootloop or get any roms installed with out bootloop. Here is what i did to install them.
1. reboot to fastboot
2. fastboot twrp
3. flash magisk
4. reboot then bootloop.
For roms.
1. reboot to fastboot
2. fastboot twrp
3. wiped data, cache, system
4. installed rom and twrp
5. rebooted and bootloop on every rom
im i missing something or a step. i followed the seteps on rom pages to a T. thanks for anything.
When you say "reboot to fastboot," you mean reboot to bootloader, correct?
What version(s) of Magisk did you try to install, and where did you get the files from?
How are you starting over after each failed attempt?
I am creating this post to help p2 community who is stuck on blue led after magisk update on custom rom
I have encountered this issue twice on my phone after a magisk update.
This happens when you patch the update directly from magisk manager.
The first time I was stuck with this issue on custom pie rom, I searched on other threads and got to know that device needs to reset to stock rom by flashing fast boot stock files on download mode, just search it, you will get link with details
However, this was a very complex task , also I lost my data in the process after flashing the data partition. From there , I went on to flash custom rom ,then installed apps , the process took the whole day
The second time when I again stuck with blue led , I was on another pie rom, This time I recovered my device without having to go over flashing all things again.
Please find the detailed step below , as I think it may help someone in such critical issues
1) Go to download mode, flash treble supported twrp for treble supported pie roms, by using command - fastboot flash recovery name.img
2) Temporary boot into same twrp , command is -
fastboot boot name.img
3) Once in twrp, go to reboot, reboot to recovery
4) Once in recovery , copy following files into internal storage - magisk.zip, magiskunistaller.zip, twrprecovery.img ( one used in step 1 ), boot.img ( extract it from existing rom package.zip)
5) Flash magisk uninstaller first
6) Go to install, install image
flash boot.img by selecting boot partition
if it get stuck , again go in twrp using step 3 and try again, it will work
flash twrprecovery.img by selecting recovery partition
7) Flash magisk zip now
8) If all goes well , you phone will boot into existing rom
Please like the post if you had same issue and are able to recover it from mentioned steps
I got into this trouble too, when direct installing magisk from v19.2 to v19.3. The magisk manager shows that it's finished installing v19.3 and reboot. Then the phone shows the white Lenovo screen, then turns dark, and vibrate for a few seconds with blue led lighting up, and finally just freeze. No bootloop, just a dark screen with blue notification led.
What I did was going to twrp (the one recommended in LOS 16.0 thread) by pressing vol up + down + power button until the white Lenovo screen come up, then release. I just reflash my current ROM (RR-P-v7.0.2-20190604-kuntao-Official.zip) using adb sideload. It finished flashing, click reboot, and finally managed to boot into system. No data loss, magisk v19.3 worked, and no magisk uninstaller required.
During the flashing process, I noticed that Magisk v19.3 was being auto flashed, so the magisk manager direct install probably somehow mess up with the boot.img after installing v19.3.
I was not able to go in twrp by any means , so I mentioned steps via download mode
Regarding your way to sideload and dirty flash whole rom , it didnt worked with me previously, so I cannot say about that, it was going back to blue led after reflashing
Regarding magisk installing and removing steps, anyone can ignore this steps and try if it works for them.
Just uninstall the magisk and reinstall it.
I have also faced same error previously and reinstalled magisk and it worked.
Someone please make a video of this and post it here

tl;dr
TWRP doesn't encrypt/mount storage,
Magisk kills WiFi.
Before I bricked the phone with a Magisk module, everything was working.
Had to revive my phone with MSM, stuck in qualcomm crashdump.
Now stock firmware is working, but I cannot get phone rooted with working WiFi / working TWRP.
==================================================
This is how I did it before (clean install, unlocked OEM)
1. boot into fastboot/bootloader
2. fastboot > fastboot flash boot twrp-3.3.1-70-guacamole-unified-Q-mauronofrio.img
3. boot into recovery mode
4. install OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.E.21_OTA_021_all_1910071445_89e89c225a754eb6.zip
5. install twrp-installer-3.3.1-4-guacamole.zip
6. reboot into recovery
7. Install Magisk-v20.0.zip
8. reboot system
DONE and it worked.
NOW:
1-6 stay the same.
But when I get back into recovery, TWRP doesn't read/mount the storage.
adb push magisk to sdcard/ and try to install leads to following:
Updating partition details...
...done
Unable to mount storage
Failed to mount "/data" (Invalid argument)
Full SELinux is present.
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
MTP Enabled
- blablabla
- installing
- Done

...guess what, Magisk is not installed/working
- Repair/change file system doesn't work.
(phone will boot into system instead of recovery, back to recovery still Internal Storage at 0 MB)
- formatting data + Wiping Dalvic / ART Cache, System, Cache doesn't work
(will all lead to stuck in Fastboot -> recovery due to fastboot image)
(installing boot.img (on A & B) and TWRP.zip doesn't help)
- install OOS and then just flash TWRP without flashing stock firmware doesn't change
Alternative
1-6 stay the same.
7. boot into fastboot
8. boot TWRP *-70 again
9. encrypting now works, mounted
10. isntall MAGISK (20.0 or 20.1)
11. reboot system
At this point it seems like everything is working, but with MAGISK now installed, WIFI won't work. Can't activate WiFi it at all.
So, i have no idea what I changed.
Rooting worked before the brick. Now it stopped working.
My friend has that problem after rooting his phone with magisk..
Just flaah the rom and wifi will be back..
HOW TO FLASH
This version is only for not branded devices
Download the zip;
Unpack the zip in a folder;
Reboot the OnePlus 7 Pro in fastboot mode (Power and volume + and volume-);
Connect the OnePlus 7 Pro to PC;
Run flash-all.bat flasher you need;
Wait until the process end;
The phone will automatically reboot.

Thank you, Sir
I should have mentioned that I already flashed a dozen times to stock firmware. Used the package from your link as well when I was stuck in fastboot.
My mistake, I should have been more accurate with my problem.
Getting it back to stock firmware isn't the problem.
Getting it back as a rooted device with working WiFi and working TWRP is the problem.
Stock OOS - without TWRP, without Magisk » ROM working
Stock OOS + TWRP (3.3.1-4) » TWRP not working; ROM working (but this combo worked before)
Stocks OOS + TWRP (3.3.1-70) » TWRP working, ROM working[/b] (but TWRP *-70 should be replaced by *-4 afaik[/U]; correct me if I am wrong)
Stock OOS + Magisk + TWRP *-70/TWRP*-4 » Magisk working, ROM no WiFi. (fixable through reflashing stock firmware and deleting everything)
So maybe any ideas why Magisk/TWRP stopped working now? And how I can get my OP7P rooted and the stable TWRP working?
Solved
Reinstalling boot.img + TWRP 3.3.1-70 installer.zip + Magisk v20.1.zip did it this time

Hey, can you go into more details? I'm having the same trouble of not being able to install magisk (stock rom with twrp installed).
Where can I get this boot.img? And what's the exact process to installing it? Thanks.
For me, I never booted into bootloader. I ran fastboot boot /path/to/TWRP.img, while still booted up and that took me to recovery and I used TWRP installer and flashed magisk from there.
I tried almost all the other methods, and kept soft bricking. I didn't patch anything, booting from fastboot soft bricked me.
I just started experiencing connection issues after installing a Magisk modules, but I read a custom kernel solves that.

Sure.
The boot image I got from:
https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=294300
(download the fastboot firmware for your device, for me it was "10.0.1-GM21BA".
open the archive, open the next folder, extract the "boot.img" file to your PC)
Magisk I got from:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
(I used 20.1, 19.4/20.0 seems to work more stable for more people)
TWRP I got from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...nt/recovery-unofficial-twrp-recovery-t3931322
(Download image for Q and twrp-installer.zip)
===================================
1. Boot into fastboot
(developer options > advanced restart > restart bootloader or power device off > HOLD volume down and press power till in fastboot)
2. In fastboot: "fastboot boot twrp70.img"
(#protip: drag & drop file into CMD)
2.1. wait till phone encrypted everything and TWRP started
3. Copy twrp70.zip, boot.img & Magisk-v20.1.zip to your phone
(I put it in the TWRP folder)
no reboots in-between!
3. In twrp homescreen: install > install image > boot.img > choose "boot" > install
4. In twrp homescreen: install > install zip > twrp70.zip > install
4.1 wipe dalvik
5. In twrp homescreen: install > install zip > magisk-v20.1.zip > install
5.1 wipe dalvik
6. In twrp homescreen: reboot > system
Done.
Hope it works for you too.
Hey, after installing android 11 on my Oneplus 6 I have servere issues on getting root back.
Both methods I used result in a stuck boot.
Method 1: fastboot boot twrp, then install magisk.zip (tried with both 21.4 (last with a zip) and the renamed 23.0 (from apk to zip)
Method 2: Extracted boot.img from my OTA update, then patched with magisk 23.0.
Flashed the new boot.img -with fastboot -with twrp both result in a stuck boot.
Suprisingly flashing the extracted boot.img from the OTA boots fine, but that image is without magisk
Update: I have extracted the boot.img directly from the phone, patched it and it still doesn't work
I've also tried fastboot boot twrp with a variety of versions of twrp after upgrading to 11.1.1.1 but with no success.
If someone could recommend a verified way to root a op6 with 11.1.1.1 I'd appreciate it

twrp actually works, but after flashing magisk or flashing a magisk boot.img it breaks. I have a working version here
Ping me if you get magisk working
I can confirm the TWRP-3.5.2-enchilada-Nebrassy-2.img run on my OP6 without any issue and allowed my to install the latest magisk, giving me a fully functioning root for my 11.1.1.1 ROM. Thanks for the help
To remember!

Which installation method of magisk did you use?
How long did you wait after first boot?
I downloaded the full 11.1.1.1 ROM as I was upgrading from a previous rooted 10.3.x version. I placed this file in the phones root directory and use the "local upgrade" feature.
When that completed I rebooted the phone a few times just to make sure everything was working as expected. I usually waited 1-2 minutes before rebooting every time.
Next I placed the latest magisk version file into the root of the phone rebooted into the bootloader and performed fastboot boot TWRP-3.5.2-enchilada-Nebrassy-2.img which booted into the TWRP as expected. Then I installed the magisk.zip and rebooted the phone into a nice newly rooted magisk environment. Tbh I didn't wait anymore 10-20 seconds to reboot after installing magisk while in TWRP.
I hope that's helpful for you

Thanks for the reply, as a last question: Which magisk version did you use (could you link i?t). I assume you took the magisk v23 apk and renamed it to .zip? or what did you do?
Yes. I used the latest canary build of magisk and simply renamed it to magisk.zip
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/topjohnwu/magisk-files/canary/app-debug.apk

Hmm, I perfectly copied your instructions and still get a bootloop. Even reflashed 11.1.1.1 again. Might be time for a reset
Do you actually get a bootloop or it just gets stuck in the unlocked bootloader warning screen?
Mine hangs there for several minutes before booting, I reflashed several times because of it but all I had to do is wait.

I leave the "bootloader unlocked" screen and the rotating "circle" animation plays. I even can connect via adb logcat to see the boot logs (but I do not understand them, though they clearly loop)
is there a zip version of TWRP-3.5.2-enchilada-Nebrassy-2 available that I can flash or can i flash the standard twrp latest zip after booting in to the nebrassy recovery so that it is permanant recovery?
Also can I flash the latest 23 relase of magisk or does it have to be the canary?
I was able to successfully boot in to the nebrassy recovery but i don't want to get in to a permanent bootloop if the standard twrp zip will break things after flashing or the stable relase of magisk will get me in to a bootloop
Thanks @UraniumDonut !

The twrp image should have a button in twrp called "install current twrp to recovery" or similar. With magisk I cannot help you as I have bootloops with every version of magisk , but @Thratchen had success with the canary version (I didn't)

Try to flash the full update zip with twrp, it will flash to both partitions, then try to flash latest magisk renamed apk in twrp.

Thanks, I’ll try. A few questions:
Wipe dalvik after flash?
Boot into system or instant flash magisk?
Wipe dalvik after magisk?
Which magisk?(canary or 23.0)?
Thanks!

Thhank @UraniumDonut - that worked - I have never before used that method and honestly didn't even know about it. I use the official documented twrp way which is to first fastboot in to twrp and then install the zip file which has to be located on the phone file system. This method seems a lot easier!
As to magisk, I usually flash that from twrp using the zip file method and never have had any issues. But with all the issues surrounding oos 11 I am playing it safe as I don't want to get in to a boot loop. Will do some more research before I try something. But thanks to you I have made 1 step forward progress!

I wiped
No need to boot first
Wiping once is enough
I'm using 23
I did not install twrp at all, just booted it, flashed Ota and magisk and reboot.

I'm out of ideas. I followed your guide exactly.
Flashed 11.1.1.1 OTA.zip
The log said "installing to inactive slot _b, reboot recovery to flash more zips"
I wiped dalvik,
I rebooted into recovery slot b (I didnt boot into system)
I installed magisk 23.0 APK renamed to zip. It installed into slot b.
I did not wipe dalvik.
I rebooted into system.
I still get a stuck boot (OnePlus circles rotating)
Bonus: after "fastboot flash boot stock_boot.img" it boots fine (but no root)
I never installed TWRP, just "fastboot boot TWRP"
I understand nothing
Just for reference here
