[Q] Z3 D6603 LP ST, Rooted, hangs under animatio when SD or RB - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people.
I have i simingly small problem but a very real one with my Z3 D6603
What i have done:
1. Unlocked bootloader with unlock code from sony dev site and adb in fastboot mode. Succsessfuly, checked service meny. All Ok so far.
2. I realized that i should haved backed up my drm keys when i upon next boot noticed i lost a couple sony stock features i like.
3. I followed this thred to the letter with a little reasonable thinking.
I used "D6603_23.0.1.A.5.77_IT.ftf" for TA partition restore. and "D6603_23.1.A.0.690_CentralEurope.ftf" for LP Stock.
4. I Used "Z3_ADV_stock_LP_v2" as kernel flashed in adb as fastboot. Everything else is flashed in Sony flash tool in flash mode on Z3.
5. Finally flashed "DRM Function Restoration for Xperia Lolipop V2.zip" in twrp.
6. Rebooted - Back to twrp flashed Chainfire Root zip 2.46 - rebooted.
All fine till this Point.
All working twrp 2.8.5.0 plus root.
Time for Xposed. Recovery - flashed "arm 15-03-08" rebooted. Install apk xposed alpha 2.
Download module "Xperia/AOSP NavBar Buttons" - check it for activation - reboots and NOW the problem beggins!!!
It get completely stuck at "SONY text in the beginning. I force shut it down by Power + Volume Up.
I dont remember exactly but the last can have been done Before i did a complete reflash for restoring sony orig features. (step 3)
7. Fresh install with root, sony orig features and twrp.
8. Install Xposed no problem. Installing "gravetyBox LP 5.0.6 Alpha.
9. Rebooting and starting to load bootanimation 5-6 seconds later it gives an ugly best described as hardware fail sound Sharp but dim tone and starts to bootlooping.
10. At this poing i can only get up and running by booting in to twrp - whipe - advanced wipe - chache and dalwik chache - reboot system it "optimizing 306 apps of about 15 minutes each time. Then its alive with everything working again. Root, Xposed, modules system and so on.
I have tried Another kernel "Z3_AndroPlusKernel_v51.zip" flashed via adb and fastboot. This resulted in a brick phone, not a Life sign at all.
adb and fastbooted z3. Flashed this kernel resulting in working phone with twrp 2.8.6.0 after Another step 10 procedure again.
Please, Please help! It would be fun to be able to shut down or rebooting my Z3 without this huge hang-bootloop problem. I finally got Everything working exept for above issue.
Im basicly stuck right now and just avoiding turning it off.
Come on all great xda people, help a fella in need!

[solved] OTA update (176.44.1) fails w/ CWM or ends in bootloop w/ stock recovery

Hi guys,
I'm running my Moto G 16GB on Kitkat 4.4.2 system version 175.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE. Today it offered to download and install the latest OTA update (called 176.44.1.en.DE). I started the download and tried to install it.
After downloading the update was placed in /cache. The file name was 'Blur_Version.175.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE.zip', which surprised me. I was expecting something like 'Blur_Version.176.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE.zip'.
When I tried to install it without removing root and without going back to stock recovery it ended with a signature error in CWM. Installing the untrusted zip manually didn't work as well - as expected.
Then I tried to follow advise from other threads and went back to stock recovery (extracted from a full install package 'Blur_Version.175.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.DE' - 444MB) That seemed to work and the install of the OTA update went fine before getting stuck on the boot animation on the first boot. It sat there for 10 minutes before I rebooted and restored a CWM backup.
I'm running out of ideas. Some say it's sufficient to go back to stock recovery temporarily. Others say you need to go back to full stock.
I have to repeat that I'm rooted and that I've de-activated a few unused apps (mainly harmless google stuff (hangout, search, music and so on) and Motorola Assist, Migrate and 'Context Services') .
Are there further findings about what stops the OTA from succeeding?
Many thanks in advance,

If your phone is rooted or there is a CWM installed or there is any change in system files then ota will fail till you flash stock rom. You can't just bring back stock recovery. You have to "delete" root as well.
There is some info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47495650&postcount=6
I will post my case here, I had the same problem, I had CWM and root and when I rebooted to update I get installation failed and boot loop.
Then I just flashed stock recovery (only) rebooted and now I already have the update installed

Hi, thanks for your replies. Because of your report and others, who state the same (installing stock recovery only to get the update working) I was hoping to get around going back to full stock. It always takes a lot of time to configure the phone the way it was configured before essentially wiping.
Just to repeat what I did: when I try to install the OTA while CWM is installed there's just an error message in CWM, the update fails, but the phone is working normally afterwards. It's just not updated.
When I try with stock recovery the update process finishes without errors, but the phone get stuck during the boot animation.
Maybe there's a way to fix the boot loop?
Looking forward to any suggestions
Cheers, Kleo2
I tried again and found a way without going back to full stock.
1. flashed stock recovery from full 175.44.1 image
2. let the phone download the OTA and restart to install it
3. ota install in stock recovery went fine
4. reboot -> stuck on boot animation again
5. flashed CWM and wiped cache AND dalvik cache
6. next boot took longer than normal but got past the boot animation
7. android optimized/cached my apps and then started normally
8. version is now 176.44.1 and the phone seems to work normally (after 30 minutes of usage)
Hope that helps someone and that I won't have issues going forward because I did it this way.
Cheers, Kleo2

I UPDATED my rooted Kitkat Tesco version SUCCESFULLY! and still rooted.
What I did:
1. install Motorola Device Manager (RESTART computer and telephone)
2. downloaded MotoTool
3. Made a Nandroid backup in CMW, made a backup with MotoTool too. Just in case
And deactived (did not uninstall) my Xposed framework modules (if you dont have it, you dont need to)
I have some system apps disabled, but didnt re-activate it. (was too lazy haha)
4. downloaded the correct ROM from: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14 (Tesco UK 4.4.2)
5. unzipped the ROM and rename and overwrite the recovery.img to the exact name as in the MotoTool All In One 2.6\Data\KitKat\StockKitKatrecovery.img (Just for sure it's the same as my ROM, I dont know if all the ROMs have the same recovery sooo )
6. started MotoTool, unplug&replug device. Checked KitKat option in the program, did a connection check, it was okay. Did a NORMAL restart via progam. You have to grant permisson on your phone.
7. after reboot, rebooted the phone to FASTBOOT.
8. Checked Stock Fastboot in the program, it flashed succesfully. Then I went into recovery (1×down volume, then 1× up volume) checked if the recovery was working. It was working (android logo+ no command error message)
9. reboot (long press power button)
10. Updeted OTA, settings/inf./update.. blabla okay okay next next. Wait until it downloads (only 7.9 MB )
11. wait for the update to be done, then it reboots, then apps are being updated. Everything looks fine and working
+1 flash CMW or other recovery again.
Hope this helps! I was afraid to do it too. I'm not used to MotoTool and other Motorola stuff because I had a HTC Desire, it was much simplier with that. But no risk here either! Good luck!
So I am trying to put back my stock recovery so I can take the OTA, but after I flash the recovery and try to reboot to it, it says "No Command". I have reflashed TWRP and then the stock recovery again with the same result. The phone itself will boot fine, but I can't install the OTA as it gets an error part of the way into the install. Any ideas? I have the 1034.
EDIT: Well I remembered I did the H+ mod, so after reverting that the OTA flashed I had Faux Kernel before hand, but after reflashing it my wi-fi wont enable, any ideas?
Thanks!

Wiping cache and dalvik cache did the trick for me. You saved my day
Please please help
I have the same problem. I've tried to update the new OTA and failed. After restoring full stock rom, the system simply doesn't boot!
I had Faux Kernel and GravityBox but I didn't revert anything. I thought that a full stock rom would clear all system settings.
This is my version of stock (Blur_Version.174.44.9.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB) and I tried to flash it several times now. No success. I get stuck on the boot logo.
I tried to downgrade to 4.3 using version Blur_Version.14.71.8.falcon_umts.Retail.en.GB. I was able to boot and see the initial setup but I have no WIFI! I was trying to install 4.3 then try to update via OTA but OTA only works with WIFI so I'm stuck.
I also tried installing the 24th Feb nightly build of Cyanogen and the device also booted but with no WIFI.
I really don't know what to do! Please help me. I've tried other stock images out of despair but none with sucess.
Does anyone have a clue to what might be to problem and how to revert it?
Thank you

Before flashing stock ROM try to clear/format all your partitions with a custom recovery!
Sent from my XT1032 using xda app-developers app
I installed the OTA update using the CWM recovery but not root, I changed the update-script to not give error during installation

At part 8, I am getting an image of the android guy with his stomach open with a big red '!'. That's 'no command' right?
Any ideas? I have no idea what I am doing
Guys, a really easy way to update is:
1. Install Philz recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639583
2. Reboot and then download the OTA update when prompted - select Install when prompted
3. It will now reboot into Philz recovery, install the update and reboot
4. You'll see Android is Upgrading...
5. Re-boot back into recover and re-install faux kernel
I have just upgraded my XT1032 on 174.44.9 en GB (rooted + faux008) to 176.44.1 using this... worked like a dream! All I had to do was re-install faux kernel as that was overwritten by the OTA, but Root was in-tact...
i have root, twrp recovery and faux kernel, the problem is only faux kernel? Or I must remove all? (root recovery etc)

[Q] Z3 Boot Manager issues

Hi,
I have successfully installed bootZ3monxtest01.img and CM12 nightlies for my Z3, and the android experience itself is fine and without issues...
however, I have several issues regarding my recovery:
- reboot to recovery feature from android never works, I have to boot cold (from power down first), and it only works when I enter a cable during boot and press the 'up' button.
- no matter whether I install TWRP, CWM or CM own's solution, the CM version seems to be installed after a normal reboot. The feature "Update Cyanogen recovery" in Developer options is disabled though
- attempts to update android OTA fail, and do not even begin. Updating from recovery is the only thing that works for now.
(and that's unrelated to having to changing the device name from 'z3' to 'D6653' in the updater script, which still appears to be necessary).
I imagine I've done something wrong regarding installation of recovery, or perhaps something in earlier stages... but I really don't know what (and didn't have any issues following installation howto's)
Anybody know what's wrong for me?
Kind regards,
Hi. I had the same problem with CM12. I think I read somewhere that it's a bug in cm recovery. It's just not working as it should.
I used flashtool to revert back to kitkat, rooted, flashed dual recovery, restored drm keys and then updated to rooted Lollipop. That was the only way.
Edit: don't forget to relock you're bootloader.

Bootloop after updating to COS 13.1

I searched the forums before posting. 73 results came up and I read through and followed instructions of 7 different posts that seemed similar to mine (including the ones that appear when making a new thread), but nothing has worked or I haven't found a situation like mine.
Hi.
I have a HUGE problem and need help.
I was on Cyanogen OS 12.1 and decided to install the latest Cyanogen OS 13.1. I downloaded the flashable zip. Booted into TWRP recovery and installed the zip file. I had always allowed my phone to reinstall Super SU in the past with great succes, but it seems I shouldn't have done that according to someone in Oneplus forums. Now my phone is stuck on the bootup animation that says "Cyanogen MOD ready". I also cannot boot into the recovery or safe mode using hardware keys. Please help! I don't want to lose my phone or my data!
Thanks for any advice.
note: I used the signed flashable zip from here.
EDIT: I was able to boot into recovery using the command "fastboot boot recovery.img". I cleared dalvik cache and flashed COS 13.1 zip. Currently waiting for phone to boot. Hope it doesn't get stuck on the bootup screen again.
EDIT2: It looks like my phone has booted successfully and is now optimizing apps for COS update! If I don't follow up, it means everything worked out great again!
EDIT 3: My phone finished "optimizing" apps. I thought it would take me to my launcher as all other times I've updated. To my surprise, the phone seemed to reboot and was stuck on the "splash screen" (Cyanogen MOD ready). After that, I got the "Android is starting" "Optimizing app xx of xxx" message again, which is incredibly weird and I think my phone might be in a bootloop. PLEASE HELP!
EDIT 4: I remembered that I did a nandroid backup last February so I restored it with "restore" in TWRP. My phone has been stuck on the "Cyanogen" boot screen for about 40 minutes. I'm lost.
To recap everything:
1. I was trying to manually upgrade from COS 12.1 to COS 13.1
2. My phone was rooted, had TWRP recovery and ADB debugging was enabled in dev options. I can enter fastboot mode using hardware keys. I cannot enter recovery using hardware keys (shows a blank screen), but I can enter recovery using "fastboot boot recovery.img.
3. After I flashed COS 13.1, I was asked (in TWRP) if I wanted to install SU and I said yes and flashed it. This is when I was in a loop of being stuck on COS 13.1 splash screen for about 5-10 minutes and then my phone was "optimizing app xx of xxx" for 15 minutes and then rebooted and did everything all over again.
4. I tried to restored a nandroid backup using "restore" in TWRP, but phone is stuck in "cyanogen" splash screen for more than 40 minutes.
No replies...
Not sure what to do at this point.
I ended up wiping data and performing a factory reset through TWRP. Might try to upgrade again in the future.

[HELP] Looking for Huawei Nexus 6P Bootloop Fix

My Huawei Nexus 6P is on bootloop for a week and a half now. I have made some fixes, but still no luck. Here's what happened and the things that I've done:
[1]
My 6P was pure stock, no unlocked bootloaders, roots, and such. No reset happened, all straight OTA update from Marshmallow to the lastest Oreo 8.0.0 update back then (Current situation of the phone before it all happened)
First occurrences of the bootloop is not a BLOD. The phone suddenly freezes and restarts to some limited bootloops, until finally, it did bootlooped indefinitely.
At that time I don't have an unlocked bootloader. I was about to follow this fix https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p-bootloop-fix/ when suddenly my 6P booted while plugged into my computer (I assumed it's because of the heat). So immediately, I've backed up my files manually (not nandroid nor using Titanium backup).
My phone worked from then, but since I was afraid that the bootloop might occur again:
1. I unlocked my bootloader
2. Flashed TWRP
3. Flashed Magisk and rooted through TWRP
4. Flashed ElementalX kernel
After that it worked fine for a night and half of the day the other day.
[2]
Afternoon that day, the phone started to bootloop again. But this time it cannot boot to TWRP: Upon selecting recovery mode from Fastboot, my 6 just tends to bootloop again. So, again, I've tried some things:
1. Re-flahsed TWRP (no luck)
2. Booted TWRP from my computer through fastboot (no luck)
3. Flashed all stock images from Google (Angler's Oreo) but still no luck
All just resulted to bootloop upon rebooting from Fastboot. Haven't tried anything again since then, until today
[3]
Today I've tried to follow this https://www.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p-bootloop-fix/ fix, but unluckily, I flashed the boot image for Nougat (as mentioned, mine's Android version is Oreo 8.0.0 from Google's downloadable stock images). Now my 6P is stuck in the Google logo for long. I've tried forcing shut down the 6P in hopes that I can boot to Fastboot again (and flash Oreo4Cores instead), but I can't. Now questions linger as my hope since to slip off
1. What can I do next?
2. Does flashing the Nougat boot image to an Oreo device work?
3. How long does it really take for this boot image fix to boot (if ever it does work)
4. What should I NOT do?
5. Or any other tips in this situation if ever I've got the wrong questions.
I hope someone could help me. Thank you in advance.
HEY...Dont worry.Take deep breath and follow each and every steps very carefully post on this link...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...loop-death-t3716330/post74774303#post74774303
Today itself my beloved nexus 6p run into bootloop. I tried every possible fix like factory reset, clearing data, cache and reflashing stock rom but no luck.so, from this thred i followed and fied my nexus 6p.
Just wanna add some basic check before you start fixing..
1. Make sure your pc is update to date officialy.Use windows pc.I am using windows 10 up-to-date.use Ccleaner latest version to clean pc.click analyse and then run.For registry cleaning,do analyse and run but don't take backup when asked just click on no and proceed to clean registry.
Then, right click C Drive >properties>disk cleanup.check all boxes and click on "clean up system files".Again check all boxes after calculating finished>ok>delete files.
Restart your pc and follow above mentioned thred for easy fix.
2. Needed good quality data cable, nexus 6p driver installed and all correct patched files for each version.
NO NEED TO FLASH OTHER FILES EXCEPT PATCHED 4 CORES BOOT IMG FILE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO ROOT OR FLASH CUSTOM KERNAL.

[Q] SM-G928F / zenlte logo bootloop after twrp flash

I was trying to get lineageos on my s6 edge+ but it is stuck in a samsung logo loop after being unable to flash the rom and now it won't go back into TWRP either.
Initially I flashed the official TWRP for the zenlte which worked fine, it just did not want to install the rom due to apparently not having any device data. (Rom is for zenlte, this device is . (or something along those lines))
after a few attempts and doing a quick wipe I flashed an unofficial twrp and thats when it started looping without being able to get back into recovery mode.
Download mode does still work after a power off but flashing the official twrp again makes no difference.
This is a little beyond me and I'm not entirely sure what is going on.
The last phone I installed a custom rom on was an s4 so I'm a bit out of the loop with this new security stuff. I would have expected to at least be able to boot back into twrp.
Ok some progress:
Recovery mode worked again after leaving phone off (but still attached to computer) for a while. (I had given up but decided to try again after a few hours)
Partitions were missing / corrupted. Did a full format.
Installing rom still gave the 'device type is .' message.
Edited the rom zip to allow "" and " " ( in META-INF\com\google\android\updater-script )
Flashed rom + gapps + magisk in 1 go.
This ended up in LineageOS trying to start but rebooting into recovery after about 5 minutes.
Re-instralled just the rom, this gave a few errors about Magisk missing, re-installed Magisk as well before wiping cache and rebooting.
Now it came up with the welcome screen rather quickly.
Weird, but problem solved any ways.
Thanks! That was also my problem.
