Native Screen Record (One UI 2, Android 10). - Samsung Galaxy A30s Questions & Answers

I don't know how many people got their One UI 2 (Android 10) upgrade but I received mine on Wednesday and one thing that I can't find anywhere is the native Screen record feature that is built into Android/One UI 2.
Missing: Screenshot and Recording in menu.
I already forgive Samsung for not including AOD on this (I had a A50 before this phone) but not that feature? Did Samsung forget to add it in or this phone incapable of doing such feature?

it's not missing. it just wasn't merged to a30s. some say you can just install the .apk. but that's no use for me so I haven't tried.

Multiple Questions iphone to android

Hello
Please note I will only be choosing the Samsung Galaxy S3 (Metallic Blue) but I might still choose the iPhone 5 (if it's worth it)
I have a iPhone 4 and I am contemplating going over to Android.
My first smart phone was a Nokia 5800 (well First one I customized had the N70 & N73)..... now I'm using the iPhone.
I understand that flashing fw to cfw was how one did custom roms on the Nokia's, and of course jail breaking is for the iPhone. So I figure rooting is for Android. ?? is it easier to root than to jailbreak ??
I would also like to know if these options are available for Android,
Custom tones for all tones (email, battery warning, alarm... etc.)
Multiple wallpapers for pages, custom page transitions.
page transition sounds (not on iPhone as far as I know, seen on pip-boy Android theme)
Hardware wise How does scrolling and touch feedback compare on Android compare to iPhone (specifically Galaxy S3 to iPhone 4) can it be done on Android ?
I listen to music in my car via an aux cable headphone input cable when I unplug the cable the player stops.... I love that feature, and the activator app that allows you to customize gestures and button presses for apps (like double press of the sleep button to skip a song)can it be done on Android ?
I know there are apps that allow you to hide icons on the home screens and lock screens on iPhone, can it be done on Android ?
Basically I understand that Android should be easier to customize than iPhone......
Lastly I would like to ask If the users that are on Android that have used iPhone's, And those that have gone from iPhone to Android, will I be happy ?
I love tinkering with tech...
How is the scratch resistance on the Galaxy S3 ?
Are screen protectors really needed ?, I have been using my iPhone 4 for
Almost a year and 7 months, hardly any scratches on the back - none on the front, and it lives in a pouch (no screen protectors)
That's all I can think of for now... Will add more questions soon
Another question.... I see on the screenshots thread that the "status bar (iphone) " barckground on the Android is black, can one make it clear (like on the iPhone) ? (or better yet move it's location.. say the bottom of the screen ?)
Oh and can one hide fonts ? and if you can, can you hide the shadows of the fonts ? (can be done on iPhone)
As stated above Please note I will only be choosing the Samsung Galaxy S3 (Metallic Blue) but I might still choose the iPhone 5 (if it's worth it)
Take a look at some of the custom roms already out for sgs3 and you will see just what can be done, google samsung s3 roms as a starting point.

[Q] No inertia in Maps

Hi, I'm using Google Maps app and I've found out that this phone does not have inertia. Why is this happening? How is it possible, since Maps app is generic for all devices (I'm pretty sure that all the Samsung Galaxy Core 2's have this problem).
No Samsung Music player, weird Touchwiz version, no inertia in Maps... what the hell is going on with this phone?
It seems to be a chinese replica of a Samsung phone that comes without official firmware and weird apps!

Inertia - slide is currently disabled because of the different android OS/API/JS workaraund
https://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api...ed+Summary+Stars+ApiType+Internal&cells=tiles
Why weird apps ? The only thing not fixed enaught from start is boot / recovery.
Other apps are written specialy for this type of phone. A lot of things not needed by release nas been changed by Samsung the references weren't deleted, so don't wory about some chinese leftowers
And about the player : The player is Samsung's and made specialy for this phone, just like the libs for it and all other libs for mix, effects ...
And maps and other apps are not "generic" for all "devices" !
It depends on the phone's API and other compatibility issues and references/components.
I don't know why people always messing about that things, you can always install other launcher/app and make it default or disable app/system package.

OK, here's the story, I had like 1 month ago 3 devices: Samsung Galaxy Young 2, Galaxy Core 2 and Express 2. All of them with Android 4.4.2, with all the apps up to date, and everything mostly the same.
So, Young 2 and Core 2 were almost the same weird experience in terms of software, and the Express 2 was a Samsung like any other Samsung out there, let me explain:
1. Maps in the first 2 devices had no inertia, whereas Express 2 had it. Same app version. Someone explain that to me.
2. Touchwiz in the first 2 devices had this weird version with only 4 icons in the lower bar, different interface, different menu options (worse), and you know, it simply wasn't the same Touchwiz I saw in every other Samsung.
3. No Samsung Music player, what the hell, in the first 2 devices.
4. YouTube app was not the same, yeah, it was different. The search button was in the menu option, while in any other Samsung it was right in the middle of the upper bar/section. Same YouTube app. I had no idea what was going on. Like a week or so, YT got updated and this is fixed now, but anyways, that was really weird.
5. I don't know, those 2 devices had many other different things in settings that made me feel like If I was using a chinese copy of a Samsung phone. I couldn't even put a shortcut to Manage Applications with that weird Mass Launcher version of Touchwiz.
6. The Dialer menu, contacts interface and all of that is simply ugly, poorly implemented (my old Neo V showed contact's pictures in a much higher resolution), it's not the same as all the other Samsung's interfaces.
And also, I have 1 big hardware problem, and I think it's not my phone, but all the Galaxy Core 2's. The touchscreen limit is wrong, it does not recognize the very end of the 4 screen sides (the 4 edges), it only starts to recognize your fingers like 4mm or more from the edge, and that hinders many gestures, specially when scrolling a right side bar, or sweeping from the left to show up a menu, or moving a song's time bar to the beginning (I can only move it to 0:04 sec, cause I can't move it more to the left).
The mix of these bad experiences is what makes me feel like I'm not using a Samsung phone. Besides, the screen of this phone is one of the worst screens I have ever seen. It's way superior the screen of my old Neo V. The viewing angles are a joke, I know it's a budget phone, low-cost and all that, but seriously, the screen is SO awful, you rotate just 1 º your phone and the colors are starting to change and they get distorted. My Neo V was also a budget phone and had an amazing screen. I'm not protesting about the resolution, or colors, they are good enough, I wasn't looking for a Super Amoled screen, but man, this screen is so bad.
Yeah, I know I can install another launcher. Actually the true is that I didn't know 'till I got this phone in my hands. That mass launcher version was so awful that I started reading about Home screen (launcher) and discovered what a launcher was, and "thanks" to the awful Touchwiz version, I'm using Nova launcher, that totally rocks and I really really love it. I don't care about Samsung's player neither, I use jetAudio plus, which is far better, but you know, you don't like when a Samsung phone comes without a Samsung player (just like all the Samsung phones out there). And Maps and YouTube weird behaviors, and a ultra low resolution photos in the Conctacts interface (and when receiving a call too), and all those things make you really question if you're actually using a original Samsung. You gotta think too about the people can't spend time reading and learning what is a launcher and all that stuff.
After a month of use, I can really complain about the horrendous screen and the dialer weird app, though that doesn't remove the very first bad experience. That's all. No, stop, I was forgetting something, If it was't for you, I'd still getting mad at Samsung because when you volume up to 80%, this freaking weird phone shows up a warning saying that listen to loud music can damage your ears. I'm root, I have Gravity Box, and I can completely remove that warning from hell. You can't deactivate it without Gravity Box and being root. That's another BIG joke, man. Samsung, what the hell. Thanks God I found your post and I could root the phone and install Xposed framework.

1.Default stock google maps in GC2 is specialy made for different GC2, try deinstaling or disable and install from Market.
2.Same with touchwiz stock, specialy made for GC2 devices
3.GC2 uses specialy made modules, libs and mixer
About other stuff, like "resolution", margin borders, screen grids, effects and transitions, speed between them
Different launcher uses different configs, it's not just touch error or prog error, all can be reset or changed.
I'm not here to judge about that things and what crapy phone I'm using too, just trying to make the best of it, but sometime it is the best to use other progs and see what's the difference and how are things with other apps.
Stock apps/system apps are made specialy for those models.
Have noticed it myself while trying to make updated version of google apps as system apps ( Custom rom - specialy google play services ).
Have noticed that the update version via Market works good, but if you try to update updated version as default system ( as custom rom ) apps you will end with corner, too much dependencies and rechanged or modified libs, modules are "ported" or recreated to GC2 phones, FC problems are literary problem for custom stock roms.
That is the primary deal this types of phones won't stand stable support and updates.
The major problem is that some apps are not generic ( from stock rom ) so they are different and made specialy for this type of model.
API's should work fine and they are carefully indexed, just like apps, but frameworks are not fully compatible or they are partialy ported/recreated/changed to this type of model. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't know how to say it right.

720p resolution like the Note 7

Hello guys,
As some of you may already know - Samsung announced their Galaxy Note 7 and it has an interesting power-saving feature. Namely, it can drop screen resolution from 1440x2560 to 720x1280 in order to save power. I'm curious if we can this thing on our Galaxy S7/Edge devices too. The main problem with simply doing that with root is that the system framework (and apps) are usually not suitable for DPI different than stock so Contacts, Camera etc etc etc get cut, badly aligned, misplaced... : ) Since Note 7 apparently has this function, this means that probably it's system apps + framework no longer suffer from such problems and can be used with a custom DPI too!
If my thoughts are correct - maybe we can get a feature like this on our devices (by porting the framework + system apps) and achieve this functionality?
Looks like they'll also need to disable whatever it is that reduces performance (in medium mode) and all network access (high mode). It's not just a resolution switch
.... Edit, I stand corrected - you can make your own preset

I'd argue we'll get the exact same features once the Note 7 is officially released; officially from Samsung and unofficially via XDA.

[Discussion] Huawei P9 biggest flaws

After using the phone for a month, here are my biggest problems with the device.
1. No Double tap to wake up, or even Raise to wake up. With the fingerprint on the back, and the small power button on the side it's really hard to wake up the phone just to check your notifications.
2. Notifications not working sometimes for some apps. Multiple reports for Viber and other apps even after giving permission to work on the background and show on the lock screen still not working.
3. No notification badge for all apps. Just for couple. As ex iPhone user this is great that some apps have it, but it would be better all apps to support it.
4. Notes doesn't sync with Google account. Big problem. On my iPhone it was so nice that all my notes were showing on the Notes app. Even when I had Galaxy Note 2 and 3 this was available.
5. No Reminders app. Okay they are trying to mimic the iOS experience, how they could forget about Reminders app? Now is so annoying to add a simple reminder. You need to go to Calendars app, make event, from there make it reminder... It's easier to use Google search and add it there by voice. But the tone for Google search is very weak and it's easy to miss the notification.
6. I would like more Themes. The catalog is pretty poor. Especially now for holidays it would be great more themes. And for kids too (Off-topic: Please make Frozen (movie) theme and upload it to the theme store, kids will love it).
7. Right now no Night mode. Hope they will add this with Update.
8. Stock Apps are not uploaded in Google Store. Huawei is still lacking in this area. Most OEMs are uploading all their apps for faster and easier updates. Now we need a new firmware if there is something broken/missing.
9. Huawei keyboard - this is connected to 7. It's outdated and missing a lot emojis. Had to switch to Google keyboard. For some reason Huawei keyboard makes less mistakes when typing and less mistakes when swyping. And instead of those ugly Blobs/robots emojis to change them to iOS/Samsung style. With those blobs most of the time you don't know what they express.. At least this is a big problem for me.
10. I wish the OS would use iOS/Samsung style emoji. Samsung phones see them like the one here on XDA, now even if you get text from iPhone, they show up as blobs.. Really hate this. Even developers are adding iOS style emojis in the android apps - Watsapp, Facebook messenger and others...
11. I don't know how it's called, Huawei assistant that finds your phone or makes calls. Too restricted. Here should be "Add reminder", "Wake up" simple command to wake up the screen. This is a good solution for number 1 from the list here.
12. No way to turn off the Haptic Feedback. This is really annoying! I don't like it, don't want it and not being able to get rid of it is a big problem.
I think this is all I don't like right now. If something comes up I will add it.
So, what about you?
P.S: If you want something or have problem with something please report it with Huawei Product & Technical Support Here.
I can only count 4 issues preventing this phone to be perfect for my needs:
1. Double tap to wake
2. No option to increase vibration
3. No option to hide nav buttons in certain applications
4. Image stabilization

There is image stabilization - Stabilizer from the settings. It will crop a little the frame but works pretty good

1- use "wave to unlock" working very well
2- is it really a problem?
3- you can if you have root
4- software image stabilization is here already

1. Valid (u could root and get xposed)
2. Valid (i think there are xposed modules for this no idea. havent rooted myself)
3. Valid (but u could get nova launcher or sth)
4. No idea about this one, dont personally use notes
5. I think this is a minor problem, nothing major tbh
6. There are plenty of emui themes on the interwebz
7. idk which version you have but I have night mode in mine (non rooted stock). You just go to do not disturb and u can set evening times
8. Valid (but u could root and disable and then use google apps)
9. Keyboard is minor problem. plenty of choices on google play store that blow this crappy stock keyboard out the water i.e. google keyboard, swype, swiftkey (personally i use google)
10. (same as 6)You can get themes for that on xda and interwebz that change icons (if you use huawei home. Also, nova launcher etc. can change icons)
11. I wouldnt use huawei assistant to begin with. But thats your own personal opinion. (google now is way better)
12. Um again, idk what version you have but i can turn off haptic feedback (as in vibrations). Settings -> Sound -> Vibrate on touch.
ofc this is your personal list but rooting or following some of my suggestions could easily fix most of this. Also, in the next nougat update which will prob come around december or the very latest january, i think notifications are fixed. Ofc, they might add more settings as the beta build is beta and things can easily change as long as huawei wants to.

Android 11 for Fold 2

Does anyone have a port of a rom from say the S20 for Android 11 on the Fold 2 I want those new features.
Would have been nice if Samsung did a Android 11 beta with the Fold 2 as well and not just the S20.
I hear you. You would think Samsung's most expensive phone would get the best service. Samsung should have a team working to get it out FIRST. I know they had to make some major changes, but Android 11 adds a lot of the multi screen stuff native.
Samsung said the the phone needs extra attention so it will be later. (From a Samsung Tweet).

Let the S20 owners "test" all the bugs in the beta and give us Fold2 owners a stable build for Xmas

The Note line doesn't even get the beta.
It's simply because the S20 series phones have the largest user base, so it makes sense to target them for the best possible and consistent bug reporting.
Samsung users don't really see the huge benefits of each iteration of Android, because generally new features have already appeared within OneUI. Seems Google take on cool Samsung features each year
So I am much more interested in what OneUI 3.0 is going to bring to the table (following info is from September 2020, so more features and amendments are likely since this release):

Hex Themes users have to think that way used for theme installation is hacky. There is a big chance new iteration of OneUI will block it and there will be no way to apply it any more.
I wish OneUI would let you use Icon Packs from the Google Play Store, like OxygenOS on 1+ phone does. These icons from the Samsung Theme store are pretty terrible and they dont cover as many icon as the Icon Packs do.

It can be initially tedious but using Nova Launcher allows you to customize your icons. So if you have some preferred set of icons (even like iOS ones from the JB community) you can manually apply them and save a back up.

The problem is that Nova forces the cover display to mimic the main display layout, which forced either poor use of the real estate on the main display, or extremely cramped cover display. On top of that, Nova + native gestures don't work too well and is a bit buggy. I've learned to appreciate Samsung's default home and use GoodLock + hex to make small changes.
But if OneUI were to allow us to use icon packs from the play store - I'd be absolutely besotted and would never even think about using Nova again. I hate ugly icons so much that I'm using Samsung's browser (which admittedly isn't bad at all since it works well on the Fold 2) because I hate looking at Google's ugly icon on my dock. I'll occasionally use Nova since it's already setup, but I miss bug-free native gestures + the awesome animations that come with the stock launcher.

I would use Action Launcher, but it doesn't work that well on this phone.

I'm looking into cloning KLWP as I've heard you can use a separate Preset on the cover so as not to have the issue you spoke about (& still use Nova).
