Google camera for bootloader locked device

Hi friends I'm sharing google camera link for users with locked bootloader. HDR photos in google camera is far better than the MIUI stock camera

Slow motion stabilization option is not available for video.
Portrait is not available but lens blur works fine.
HDR works great, 4k video recording is available.

Yes HDR is turned on. Only thing is i haven't enabled HHT night mode in stock camera. Try yourself to see the difference

I captured Photo with Stock Camera and Google Camera with HDR On in Lock Bootloader.
Google Camera Over Exposure Photo with HDR On in my Experience.

This need Camera2 API right ?

No.. this doesnt required any Camera2 API..It will work as it is just install that apk file.... thats why i mentioned google camera for locked bootloader...

Make sure that you have installed google camera with version number 2.7.008 (2130300-30)
or uninstall any previously installed google camera and install this version

20 mp on front cam ? Really ? I'm just getting 5mp max in settings.

Google camera i have shared here is for locked bootloader users and in this camera we get 20MP front camera (this is the resolution for Redmi Note 5 Pro model)
Did you installed 2.7 version of google camera ?? If you are talking about modded google camera then you will only get 5MP front camera resolution

Im using Redmi Note 5 pro (WHYRED) indian version... Other than indian version all other mobile will be called as Redmi Note 5 (WHYRED)
INDIAN version has 20MP front camera wherease all other model has 13MP front camera with better image quality

I have installed the exact camera app that u have posted .
I have Indian Note 5 Pro but bootloader is unlocked with root. But I don't think that should cause any such problems. Let's see what other have to say about this.

Thais is strange.. but that maybe the problem. Because modded google camera displays max 5MP front camera resolution for users with unlocked bootloader (and for those who have enabled camera2api)

Yes you were right. I disabled the camera2api restarted and can now see 20mp in front can.
But this cam is basically useless for me it overexposes the image. Miui Cam has much better quality also this cam does not have portrait mode, so if ur not going to use camera2api then stick to default camera app instead.
This is my opinion so please do not take offense.

Yes stock camera gives better image quality and portrait images..

gcam on Honor 8x?

Hey everyone.. why there is no update on gcam in Honor 8x device.. as every Mobile supporting gcam why not in Honor???

Good question I tried many ports from other topics and nothing work proper on our phone

Did you tried doing factory default settings

There are many shared but one or the other function in GCAM not working on our phones.

I think no XDA Developer is interested to develop or porting GCam for Honor Devices.
All people love only Snapdragon or Exynos or MediaTek..
Nobody interested in Kirin..
Even check reviews on YouTube all reviewers hate and criticize Honor Devices...
I think why I purchased Honor 8x?
Though it's stock camera is good in day light.
Front camera edge detection is poor.
And low light is bad ass.

I don't know what...
But given link camera works on Honor 8x..

hi , is there any Gcam mod for Honor 8 Lite that can record in 60fps?

I have found these two gcam apps. I am not taking any credit what so ever.
Just sharing it.
Both works for me on Y9 2019.
Dont need any extra setting. Just aim and shoot.

Camera p3 doesnt work on my y9 2019. It closes on its own few minutes after opening the app.
G4 camera hangs upon opening.

It works on Honor 8x just portrait not works and some other like slo w mode not works

Best GCam ports?

Hello, I hope this doesn't breaks the rules. I'm having troubles choosing the right Gcam port for my stock s7 edge exy, since the ones I tried were all laggy and buggy (freezes, force closes, etc.).
I do know there are many versions (where Gcam 5 seems to be faster and more reliable than 6, that indeed has more functions) what can you suggest me as a daily driver? What are the ones I should try?
Currently I'm using xgcam 0.25 by newwb. The colors are splendid, but there is a loooot of noise, and the app crashes very often

You will find all latest versions of modded Gcam.
I choose this version because it's the latest stable version by idans in that group, but maybe it's now updated, you have to enter and see.
P.S there is a competitor version of this Gcam and can be installed separately so you can decide which one is best for you.

I've been looking for weeks and have tried 15+ gcams and none of them work the camera seems terrible from what I've seen with the stock camera app

So is there a solution? Without rooting the device for Camera2 API-installation? So utterly disappointed in Samsung's Pro Mode for the camera. They used to have THE most versatile options, dumbed down to such basics. How do we get Gcam going?

Open Camera
Hi guys, not sure if this would be a decent alternative for you or not but I've been using a camera app for a long time called Open Camera and it seems quite good compared to most stock camera apps I've tried. It has the Api2 you mentioned, and usually has a lot more options than most stock apps. Try it out maybe you'll like it, I always recommend it to my friends.
*sigh* Turns out I can't simply post a link, but if you search the Playstore for Open Camera it's the first one, from Mark Harmon.

Do you have any specific settings or config that you're using with that one. I tried a couple test shots with that one (and a few others a little while back) and was really not that impressed compared to Samsung's camera app.

No specific settings, i'm using the config by urnyx. Actually i prefer the gcam over the stock .

Anyone find a workaround? Gcam is no longer working. I'm running August update on the z flip 5g.

Wanted to resurface this and see if anyone has any tips for Gcam on this phone. I've tried a few versions (including those linked in this thread) and I get the camera working on everything except the front facing camera (will only work for video, won't display anything for pictures).

Anyone have any links to a current version that is working? Just got the flip 5g and I wish I could have the G can which is way superior to samsungs
