First update from Vivo

Hello Nex-Fans,
Vivo has announced the first OS update for our device which improves the overall, the game, camera and fingerprintscanner performance.

Thanks! I suppose we will get that automatically (when checked in update settings), but thanks anyway for notifying it here.

Despiter updates(there's even newer update than those at first page) the underscreen display scanner remain problematic according to fresh reviews from android authority.

Hopping retail unit perfom better.

Saw many reviews and tests on YouTube and nobody has mentioned such problems with the Fingerprintscanner. I think this will be a "Pre-Release-Device" problem.

Damn that's a really scathing review especially re. the software and OS. Makes me kind of disinterested tbh, because the UX sounds like a ****ing hassle

I'm not so negative ... In my opinion it's a very early stage of the device and i think some points are related to the Pre-Release-Device he has. On the software side i think it's only a question of time until there are some other options.
I have a Zuk Z2 Pro and know what i'm talking about. The ZUI interface was only crap but now it's running AOSP Android 8.1 and i'm really really happy with the device. It's better then my S8 was.

Yes but the kicker is as always, does the bootloader get unlocked... I don't know about Vivo and their practices on this.

I actually received my second update on my Nex already... and while the fingerprint reader can be finicky it has worked well (one thing that helped was adding both thumbs 2times)

I got the update a day or two ago as well.....
Any idea (translation) of what it actually encompassed?

only thing i have noticed a improvement on is the Fingerprint reader(seems much more consistent) , the camera seems to focus better and give slightly better results. Also the three bars at the bottom of the home screen are at the absolute bottom now and much wider.

After you posted this,I decided to take a look in the Settings > System Update & found the update notes in English (probably translated to whatever default language you choose) & pretty much line-up with your observations/usage:
The notes may have been available in the previous updates,but,I didn't notice the little arrow to click on to read the notes (probably there all along)......

haha yeah the arrow has been there to check the changelog but the improvements they claim are actually noticable to me at least ?

FunTouch OS is the only thing that's keeping me from buying this phone... Any thoughts on the overall phone functionality from people that have it? I currently own a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and love it except for the selfie camera being on the bottom of my screen. My main thing would be to be able to get the Play Store and use Bluetooth with my car audio system... Any thoughts appreciated ?

I might be having one serious BLONDE MOMENT :laugh: ,but,I can't seem to find how to make the YouTube app play by default,from links in email/texts/etc.....
Again,it could just be me,the settings on this phone are convoluted,makes Huawei & Xiaomi look clean & simple by comparison.......
So,in the meantime,I'm using this default picker app to help out:

Does YouTube Vanced non root version works on Vivo Nex or not.
Have you tried it?

Installing the micro g file from above link doesn’t work??
I used 0.2.4-105 version from above link and always works great.
You can try both of them providing.

I go back and forth seemingly daily. I lust for the hardware, it is to me the next step on the path to OLED in-display cameras, but that bizarre Android iOS clone nonsense they have going on is pushing me away. Funtouch sounds like a waking nightmare.
I currently have a Mi Mix 2, and already the rumor mill is in full swing re. the Mix 3. Google Mi Mix 3 and check out some early leaks, they are rumored to follow the Nex style. Admitted MIUI is not all that great either, but at least Xiaomi is a bit more dev friendly on releasing the kernels etc. And sorry for the hijack

I guess it needs official signature which could be put in september

Mi camera app has a lot of dependencies on miui system, won't run without it. You can hope for a port from mi a2, it's already working on oreo roms on sagit.

Also came here to ask this. Mi A2 seems like a good bet.

My Mi A2 should arrive next week so I will have both devices. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

tested it might be possible but im getting this error thing it says /data/adb/magisk_merge.img mount failed so i cant install it.

Our Mi A2 arrived. My god, this is a great device. I forgot how much better Stock Android is than the abomination that is MIUI.
And the camera is fantastic - as good as my Mix 2s. It uses the same camera app as the Mix 2s, but the UI is slightly different. It looks the same but switching between photo / portrait / selfie works more intuitively. And the gallery thumbnail links to Google Photos.
If anyone can advise on how to extract the app I will happily have a go.

Do the following via ADB. Get the list of the packages available:
Code:
adb shell pm list packages
Get the path of the APK of the specified package name:

Get the APK with the path returned from the previous command:

It is not the same module, mix 2s has IMX363 + S5K3M3, the mi6x/miA2 has IMX486 + IMX376.

aw crap, not sure where I got the idea they were the same. Any idea what has the better specs? If the A2 camera can perform as well as or nearly as well as the 2s it looks like a great bargain.

Mix 2S has way better specs, it's a flagship after all. Mi A2 is a high-mid tier Android One phone. You can compare the specs along with average antutu score for both here: https://www.kimovil.com/en/compare/xiaomi-mi-a2,xiaomi-mi-mix-2s

As someone who owns both, I can honestly say that the Mi A2 camera is really close. Like, I'm not sure I could tell the difference between the shots taken under the same conditions. In fact this weekend we were using both, and in a poorly lit environment, the A2 did a better job so we ended up using that one indoors. I guess it is a software difference perhaps.

In fact HDR + Enhanced = Nightsight.
It uses the same algorithm, just a ted more sophisticated denoising.

You could have posted that in the already present thread, not to make a new useless one. And v6.1.009 does not have Night Sight enabled, it was enabled in 6.1.013.

The noise is not the problem. Nightsight is a bit more efficient to global exposure.
I did some test and even with the best tweak, the result in very low light was better with nightsight (not by much, but better)

stop creating new thread for every gcam "so called news", nothing is new here.

Hello, I hope this doesn't breaks the rules. I'm having troubles choosing the right Gcam port for my stock s7 edge exy, since the ones I tried were all laggy and buggy (freezes, force closes, etc.).
I do know there are many versions (where Gcam 5 seems to be faster and more reliable than 6, that indeed has more functions) what can you suggest me as a daily driver? What are the ones I should try?
Currently I'm using xgcam 0.25 by newwb. The colors are splendid, but there is a loooot of noise, and the app crashes very often

You will find all latest versions of modded Gcam.
I choose this version because it's the latest stable version by idans in that group, but maybe it's now updated, you have to enter and see.
P.S there is a competitor version of this Gcam and can be installed separately so you can decide which one is best for you.

You have APK to version 917 because the link doesn't work

Installed this version on my Snapdragon S10+ and it just force closes when I open the app. Same issue I have had with all the gcam apps. I just can't find one that works.

Its working fine on one ui2.1 also remove any pervious gcam or zcam version if you have installed

Latest version of gcam 7.3 added

Video isn't working on this, it wont record on either the back or front camera. Also slow motion force closes app. Any suggestions?

Same here. Also, when enabling the additional cameras, 2x actually zooms out instead of in...like it's calling the wide angle lens instead of the telephoto. I also noticed the AR/playground stuff that's built into the app on the pixels isn't present here. Not a big deal since i didn't really use the feature on my pixel 2, but just something I noticed.
