Once you root your device you are done... you won't make it work again, even if you revert back to stock.
But... there's a post with an alternative way to make it work. Didn't try it because I've changed my phone, but might work

is it possible to root k012_2 to k012 (FE7010CG)?

Hi,
I've been looking for a solution for my tablet on net for long time but unfortunately couldnt find any. I have reduced version of k012 (FE7010CG) for my country and it is k012_2 (FE7010CG) which supports 3G. It is almost same device but has single simcard slot and doesnt support phone calls via simcard. FE7010CG is phone pad but k012_2 is tablet only so its general issue about k012_2. It can make calls with apps but i want to use my simcard for calls. When i call my own number while simcard is in tablet,it calls but no sign on tablet so cant answer. I installed numpad apps and when i try to call, android system says device doesnt support phone calls.Still i have Telephony Service,ASUS Phone and Call(Android) apps installed in my tablet but i can't open or delete them from device. I read many threads about this issue and ASUS doesnt support rooting and installing ROM and they dont help about it,only thing they say is device will be out of warranty with rooting(even if you use its own official ROM). So my question is; is it possible to turn my k012_2 to k012 with installing k012 ROM and make phone calls via my simcard? I dont care about it going out of warranty but I dont wanna kill my device either. Will it cause any permanent harm on device if i try k012 ROM ?

Word of advice, do NOT flash firmware that is not specific for your device. You will end up bricked for sure. Also, there are several generic root methods available. However, if they don't support your device, there's not much you can do. Try Kingo or farmaroot. Search is your friend.

I saw a guide that roots my device successfully with using adb driver and asus intel root kit but it roots to k102_2 again(on site they have links for all required stuff also) but there is not any info if it gets call option and probably it doesnt get it with new k012_2 ROM. I dont have any experience with rooting but having phone call option for my device will be so great for me. It will save me from buying a new smart phone so giving it a chance sounds so reasonable. But if you say it will be bricked for sure i will have to give up

If it's built for your SPECIFIC device model, then it's OK. Otherwise, steer clear. If your device is WiFi capable, try using Hangouts and Hangouts Dialer. Or possibly Google voice.

My device has everything but phone calls Hangouts is really expensive in my country compared to gsm calls. So its not a good option for me . Thanks for advices. Hope someone had experience with similar issue and can help me.
Any new idea for the topic?
I realized that I should install WW SKU type of ROM . I tried several methods but I could not change the SKU of the ROM of the tablet (FE7010CG). There is a protection. Can you suggest a method that can be applied to lollipop.

Android Pay issues

OK, here goes. I am running COS 12.1, rooted, with an unlocked bootloader. I recently upgraded to Android Pay after using Google Wallet for NFC payments for years on my old GS4 and my OnePlus One.
At first, I was unable to add my payment card due to being rooted. Easily fixed, I unrooted using SuperSU to do a full unroot and was able to add my card and complete the app setup.
The showstopper is that whenever I try to use it at a merchant, I end up with a screen that says Confirm your password - you must unlock to use Android Pay. No matter how many times I enter my password it just keeps asking over and over. I disabled the quick unlock feature under lock screen settings just in case that was the issue, but it made no difference. An ongoing support case with Google just came back with the following:
"The specific error message that you saw means that your device can't support Android Pay's advanced security. It seems that the phone manufacturer has modified the operating system to the point where it is no longer compatible with our software. You may want to use Android Pay on a different device for the most secure payments."
So, has anyone running COS 12.1 had any luck with Android Pay? Thoughts, comments, suggestions are all welcome.

I first tried it with root enabled, then when that didn't work I did the full unroot. I will try with just disabling SU over the weekend and see what happens.

yeah with stock no need to full unroot. you can have bootloader unlocked root added and all that. Its just when you set it up make sure its stock root and not by using the supersu zip file. My findings was when I flashed Supersu it did not work but if I flashed stock rom then let TWRP inject root it worked. Of course I unchecked the option in supersu set up Android Pay then found one of those coke machines that take Android pay and tested it out.

MOTO G 2015 XT1544 , Bricked ?

Hi, guys
i have a MOTO G 2015, model XT1544 , and i would like some help with some issues i'm suffering .
First i got the startup blocked from google account ( i forgot the email ), so to solve this i think i could reinstall the stock rom on it, but after trying for a few hours i didnt get any results. The bootloader was blocked and did not knew that , the rom never got installed sucessfully.
So now the phones starts normally, but i cant find any wifi connections, i think the wifi stopped working.
I need the wifi working to insert my google account on the device , or at least try to remember it .
Is there any way i could unlock oem from fastboot ? Or at least reinstall the stock rom on it with bootloader blocked ? i downloaded a few stock roms to the XT1544 model but they cannot be installed successfully, is this normal ?
PS. I really cant send it to motorola , i've lost the box of the phone and with it, the invoice and all documents.

Make an account with Motorola.
Request bootloader unlock from Motorola.
Unlock bootloader.
Profit.
You really have no reason not too at this point.
Edit - but if you're trying to just fastboot a stock image it should work regardless if bootloader is unlocked or not so it sounds like you've used the wrong device image. If you don't want to reset anything find the boot.IMG of the correct image and fastboot that.
Your radio is not correct, that's what boot.IMG is.

your link seems dead or not correct. - edit: link correct, was not working due to my vpn...
I assume he patched a G8+ boot.img with magisk manager.
boot image can be extracted from official Doha firmware found here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/doha/official/
manual on how to do this can be found on official magisk manager website.
be aware that when unlocking bootloader your phone will reset to factory settings.
This is what I did. Yes..
Worked great for my G8+. I guess people should just check which stock ROM file they get from lolinet to make sure it's the right one. I say that because, in my case, lolinet list had two files for the Brazilian stock ROM. I went to Settings / About / Version number and downloaded the matching file. Don't know whether the other file would work the same or not. Just didn't want to risk having any issue since G8+ is somewhat new and there's not much info on solving root problems on the Internet.
Hi,
Couple of questions
Does the Bootloader have to be Unlocked to flash the modified Boot image?
Or can I use update option?
Are Motorola releasing unlock numbers for Bootloader now?
Thanks, Carl

Hello, Carl. I guess it's not possible unless there's a flaw in the security. There are some articles on the Internet about that. Google "is-there-a-way-to-root-an-android-phone-without-unlocking-the-bootloader". I can't post URLs yet.
As for Motorola devices, I was able to unlock the bootloader without problems on my G8+, last week. The only caveat, I'm my case, is that I had to wait some days for the unlock bootloader option be available under developer options. It was disabled by default in my G8+. And, yes, they're releasing bootloader unlocking codes.
THANKS!
Have anybody with a rooted device tried to get wide angle camera working in gcam ports?
Thanks.

magisk module debloater and also sdmaid helped with most of the bloatware, the only thing I could not remove was google files but I just deactivated it.
a really weird thing happened with the April 1st update, basically the update started automatically and it failed at 3/6 so I tought I should restart my phone and test it again, but it got stuck in bootloop and I had to reflash a rom with fastboot cmd.
I think that's because I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone, cause u lose the right for updates after you do that, but for some reason lenovo/moto update system goes automatically the next second u connect to the internet and fails halfway thru so u have a higher chance to ruin your phone or something, instead of denying the update from the start
so the solution I found was to try and delete "moto update service" app that I can't force stop or disable but I couldnt find it in system/app or system/priv-app, that's because the app name is "3c_ota", so deleting that with SD Maid app worked and the "update system" option in settings is reverted to a sort of default android one that lets you check manually.
Had a similiar issue. I soft bricked my phone (bootloop) and installed a stock rom from an unofficial source. The funny thing is, this version did make like 3 or 4 system upgrades to PPSI.29.65-51 without any issue. But the 1st April updated failed to install. I then flashed the official 1st april stock image with the moto rescue and smart assistant. After that, the official ROM tells me my phone is not allowed to do updates because the security of this phone is compromised and I should contact lenovo support
Those upates are kinda annoying if they don't work, I guess I'll just completey flash the phone every 6-12 months with the moto assistant.
yeah you should always have a backup rom that you can download with moto assistant or from lolinet g8 roms (https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/doha/official/)
I also got the same message saying that my phone is compromised ( unlocked bootloader + rooted) and it won't receive any further updates, but I just deleted the "3c_ota" app (the moto update service) which is bad cause if forces automatic updates the second u connect to internet.
I'm not going to touch any further updates or security patches until android 10, which I will attempt to flash via moto assistant

how can i upgrade to android 8 without being root and bootloader closer

Hello. I tried to use a Custom ROM. I unlocked my bootloader using ADB and htc's account in this site [ htcdev.com ] to get a key, and installed TWRP. Now i'm with problems. I tried many custom ROMs but the Wifi connection is broken and seems this version 1.28.598.4 is from America Latina (I'm from Brazil) and I couldn't get back to stock yet. If you would try, make a backup of your stock first by TWRP. I would really appreciate if you make it and share the Backup Folder.
