hi....I don't know where to post this, but I need help.
up until 3 days ago, I had no problem using my VPN through Google wifi. worked beautifully.
however, for the least 3 days, I cannot get connected. I've tried both on my android phone (Galaxy note 8) and my android tablet (Galaxy tab a; both android v9). spent an hour+ with VPN support, then realized that I COULD get connected on phone if I turned Google wifi off (just used phone data). i still can't get connect with tablet, which is only wifi.
for some reason, Google wifi is blocking the VPN connection (recent update?). why? and more importantly, how do i fix it?
thank you!

Hello,
Airdroid works fine on several devices here (my phone, my son's phone, my mother's tablet), but is very picky on my mother's phone.
All devices are connected on the same wifi network.
She has a samsung GT-S5839i. Here's what happens:
First, after installation, connection was ok.
Next day, no connection, the browser could not reach the phone. My phone could connect (over same wifi network, same browser on my PC). I restarted her phone, launched Airdroid : works fine.
Today, one day later: everything the same: not working at first, I had to reboot her phone.
So she has to reboot her phone to use Airdroid, that's not very convenient
What could cause this? How can I investigate this issue?
Thanks a lot ^_^

Hi,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble building connection for Samsung GT-S5839i. To help us find out what's happening, would you please tell us what's your Connection Mode, Android version and your AirDroid account?
And if you're using LAN Connection Mode, you can check if the network connection works fine on your GT-S5839i.
Follow the link below to get the steps:

Since I am in China, a non-Google country, the activation is impossible. It requires Wi-Fi, which obviously I have, but all devices must connect with Google, which is impossible without the VPN. Secondly, there is no VPN option on start-up screen. So, it is in the Checking connection "up to 2 minutes" screen indefinitely. I would say this is a major BUG.
My solution will be to downgrade to 5, which I recall could go into the android without Wi-Fi first connecting with Google. Whereby, I can setup a VPN using full android OS access.
Any other solutions here to get into Android 6?
This didn't work for me, but it might be my VPN provider: If you have a laptop, connect it to the internet with an ethernet cable, turn on your VPN, and then share your connection through wifi.
In theory, this should work, but it didn't for me. And I found your thread because I was either looking for a solution, or at least a place to vent. I read somewhere on a Google forum that Google doesn't have an answer for this. We're SOL.
Hello XDA Members,
I am having a mysterious issue that has been very annoying. I have an EVO Wingle Wifi Device for Internet from PTCL in Pakistan.
It was working fine a couple days ago, my phone used to connect find to the wifi of the device and I was able to use internet on the phone, but all of a sudden one day, something went wrong.
Now the issue is that:
1. The phone can connect to the wifi, and it says "connected" but the device is not pushing the phone an IP anymore, it says "::1" in that place, and also the internet is not working on the phone.
2. On the devices stats page, I can see all other devices connected to the device, but not the phone. The wifi limit is 5, and I only usually have my laptop connected with it.
3. I also have tried to use a static IP on the phone like 192.168.1.128 and manually set it on the phone, and the phone still connects to the wifi, and it shows the IP, but still the internet doesn't work and the device doesn't register the phone in it's stats.
4. All other devices can connected and work fine with the wifi, with the internet working on all of them.
5. The phone works with any other wifi connection fine, just not with this device.
I have tried to:
1. Factory Reset my device, it didn't solve the issue.
2. Forget WiFi many times on phone, used different passwords, clear settings, etc.
3. Reset the phone, whitelisting phones MAC address on the device.
4. Used wifi fix apps from google play without any results.
But nothing seems to be fixing the issue.
Now I am at loss, I don't know what to do anymore, can anyone help?
Device: 9.1 Evo Wingle WiFi Device, PTCL.
Phone: Samsung S3 Verizon - Running KitKat 4.4 with CustomROM (SUPERLIGHTROM V5) with Safestrap, and rooted phone.
I bought a straight talk Samsung galaxy j7 sky pro and can't find the hotspot if it even has one. So I installed a hotspot from the Google play store and it says I have to root before it can be used with this phone. Can someone please tell me what that is and how to fo it? I tried looking it up on Google but I couldn't make heads or tails of it.
This works
I have this phone for straight talk and i use PDAnet for android. If you have a laptop with hotspot capabilities, you can use PDAnet on there for a USB tether. The other alternative that might work for you ( did not work for me due to some dumb error) is FoxFi. FoxFi is compatible with PDAnet too. You can use a Bluetooth connection too for some devices.
Hope it works!
What does it matter what "hotspot" capabilities you have on any other device other than a standard wifi connection? And pdanet is used on the pc or other device? What exactly turns wifi hotspot feature on on this phone according to your solution?
So I was able to connect my windows laptop to the network but not my other android phone. I have PdaNet installed on it too. So if anyone has any tips on how to get android to Android to work with this phone pls advise. I'm using the j7 Sky Pro for straight talk

I also have a J7 sky pro and have noticed when trying to connect to a pdanet hot spot (using wifi direct hotspot on another device and connecting to it with the J7) that some devices have communication issues that are hit or miss. My wife has the galaxy note 9. When hers is used as the wifi direct hot spot it will connect to the network using WPS but pdanet bugs out or something. After wps process finishes it says "WPS complete, Waiting for wifi connection. It remains stalled out there. However I did manage to get it to sucessfully connect to it ONCE (1 out of about 400 attempts) I did manage to get it to connect outside of pdanet for internet connection by using the wifi connection settings and connecting to the network there but also hit the advanced options and then set the proxy to manual then used 192.168.49.1 as the proxy address & port 8000. that allowed me to gain internet with the j7. As i said though it so far has just been with the Note 9. A friend with an S9 set his up and I could connect to it just fine. So I don't know if it is pdanet actually nerking out and having issues or if it is the communication between the devices. If you are trying to use your J7 as the hotspot set it up as wifi direct instead of the foxfi hotspot then use connect to pdanet hotspot from the other device to connect to the the J7
