So my Verizon pixel is on the final official update. Can the bootloader be unlocked?
Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
Check developer options (about phone - > tap build number 7 times) and look for the "Enable OEM unlock" option.
If it's greyed out, check this thread.

My Honor 8 no have option unlock OEM
You're not looking under Developer Options?
You go into "Settings" -> "About Phone" and tap "Build Number" a bunch of times until it says "you're a developer."
Back out to "Settings" -> "Developer Options" and "OEM unlocking" should be about the seventh option down with a toggle option.
where to find my unlock code
Curious...what is the oem unlock bootloader option in settings developer for? Have not seen mentioned to tick this b4 bootloader unlock thru HTC Dev.

And for select HTC devices with Android Lollipop and all devices that receive Marshmallow, you will need to first manually enable OEM unlocking in Developer options in order to allow the bootloader to be unlocked and proceed with the next steps. To access the OEM unlocking setting on your device, open the Developer options in the system Settings.

Thanks...apparently I just read right past this and will need to be more careful Have not done HTC phone in quite awhile.
Hey everyone,
I bought a second hand Pixel phone and it came with the bootloader locked. I was wondering if I would be able to unlock it.
I have been reading a lot about that and I was able to check using the adb tool that my cid version is VZW_001 and I have the OEM unlock option (under the development menu) greyed out. I am currently using android 8.0 and I do not use Verizon since I live in Brazil.
In light of that, I have two more questions:
- Oreo does not have any specific build for verizon, right? I was only able to find the 'other carriers' image.
- Is it possible that I do not have the 'OEM unlock' option because I am using this new version of android that is only for those enrolled in the Beta program?
Regards,

Henrique
That's a Verizon version of Pixel, which means bootloader locked.
Edit: unless you have a brand new, never been activated one... https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel/help/bootloader-unlock-verizon-pixels-t3616101

I've read on this thread.
What I am curious about is whether you guys that have got a Pixel directly from google, and updated to this new release, have this 'OEM Unlocking' option available?

I got my phone straight from google, have since received an Oreo OTA update, and have this option grayed out. However, underneath it says, "bootloader is already unlocked" (which it is). So that makes sense.
You probably have the Verizon version, which requires an exploit to unlock.

Interesting, this means that I do have a Verizon phone. Hope we can find a exploit that bypass it. I would really like to root my phone. ; )
Thanks you all.
So I cannot unlock my Google Pixel every time I try the commands in ADB it gives me this error...
c:\adb>fastboot oem unlock
...
FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.012s
I have tried a few other commands and they didn't work either. And before anyone asks YES it is from Google Store not from Verizon. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated thanks!
Did you enable developer options and check allow bootloader unlocking?
Assuming OEM unlock toggle is active in Dev Options...
Replace "oem" with "flashing".
fastboot flashing unlock

If it's connected to the internet and still greyed out, sad to say you most likely have a Verizon model.

If oem unlocking is greyed out then unfortunately you are stuffed. You can't unlock your bootloader. Especially if you are already on Oreo. If you are on Nougat it's possible but don't know if you can downgrade and try. Maybe? You need search the forums for unlocking a verizon phone. You can't unlock on EE in the UK and possibly other carriers around the world too.
At this point if you bought it from Google call them. The either sent you a VZ phone or the one you got isn't in their database to allow unlocking. I suspect the latter.
I just received my Flip3 (SM-F711U1) and would like to unlock my bootloader. However developer options is missing the OEM Unlock option. It's completely missing not just grayed out. I read a few articles about needed to change the system date but none of those guides changed anything. Can someone help?
Also, I attempted to call *#*#7378423*#*# to double checked that it wasn't already unlocked and I got a popup saying "Unabled to process the request."
Thank you.

I have no issue unlocking developer options. As my first post said the OEM Unlock option is missing from dev options.

Have you tried through fastboot? (fastboot oem unlock)
Oh, got you. Sorry!
As far as I'm aware samsung devices don't support fastboot. I did attempt to connect it in case I was wrong but was not able to get fastboot to recognize the device.

You can try directly unlock without ticking the oem unlock. By boot into download mode. The other thing is your device or carrier or country wont allow your flip 3 to be unlock. There last step you can try is clean flash via odin with your latest firmware.

I can get into download mode fine but don't know how to use that to unlock directly. Can you give more details?
I tried a clean flach with my latest firmware but it didn't change anything.
It's a US carrier unlocked version I bought directly from Samsung. CSC of XAA. Currently using a T-Mobile SIM.

If you had them enabled on your last phone and you restored from your Google backup, developer options will be enabled. Has happened on all of my phones since Android 9

Thanks, but I was asking @RedHatter271 to see if the restore data might have corrupted the options.

They support bootloader unlock. samsung dont support using fastboot unlock or command at all
if you're in North America, Canada etc Qualcomm chips there do not support bootloader unlocking, at least the Samsung one's don't, not sure about other OEMs.

They used to, so there was always a possibility it returned.
I recently read this article on XDA about unlocking the boot loader on the Fold 3 which results in Samsung disabling the camera (WTH?), Is this a thing on the Flip3 too?
My device is rooted. I have always been able to find the OEM unlock option under developer options without any constraints.
My camera is NOT affected. I can still use it without any issues.
I have an European device (SM-F711B).
Hope this helps some of you to track down whether this is a location or carrier based problem.
Hey Redhatter,
Out of topic question, but are you getting Tmobile 5G just fine?
