Hello, I used to be an active XDA user earlier when Android 2.3 and 4.4 were hot. Can you help clear some of my doubts?
1. Can't flash ROMs with TWRP or other recoveries anymore? [True/False]
2. Does SELinux set to Permissive affect day to day usage!
3. Does SafetyNet Fail have other impacts other than Banking Applications?
If 2/3 questions really change how I use my phone except for other bugs, how many days will it take to set SELinux to Enforcing and to PASS SafetyNet to popular ROMs? Any rough Idea? I used Lineage OS 17 in older Redmi phone and it passed SafetyNet. Any kind of new information will help as I have no idea regarding new Custom ROM development.

No, i'm not stupid
Had many custom roms on my N5, and with No Root/Xposed and a Locked bootloader, i can use apps that use safetynet and also android pay - this includes 6.0.1 Roms released recently, including CM13 Nightlys.
Does anyone know why the android 7.1 Roms on here (i tested most of them) Fail safetynet? I get a bluescreen from Safetynet Helper, saying "Response Validation Failed" - this is with root removed, and bootloader still locked just as i had before with 6.x roms that were working fine. I have tried both Banks Dynamic Gapps and OpenGapps in case anyone was wondering.
I have also tried unlocking the bootloader before installing (doesnt usually make a difference for some reason) and i still get the blue fail screen.

bump?
I don't have any help, but I've been struggling with Android Pay and this same issue.

Yeah it's just the android 7 and 7.1 ROMs for the nexus 5, shame, as they run really well, much better than 6.x.x roms for me, but i use android pay.
Me too. I tried 7.1 many times, but I use AP too and at this point I'm not ready to give it up for 7.1, though I would really like the updated version. I kept hearing the Franco Kernel would bypass SafetyNet, but I've tried that many times and FK doesn't pass it either.

I'm not a programmer, but it just seems like there is a file or 2 missing that's preventing the service from sending the request. It's not Failing safetynet, it's just not getting the request back
I so wish I could us 7.1 and AP...
Any SafetyNet work for CM13 ? i use magisk 18 not work
hi everyone, I am new to this forum.
i've been interested in rooting / mods for my old Samsung s9 to give it a new life.
I did so by rooting it using the TWRP app in combination with the Magisk V23.0
now what happened was that i was downloading some random apps yesterday and for some reason the phone went on bootloop...
i accidentally deleted the system without making a backup lol... a little stupid of me...
now it keeps telling me that i've no OS on my phone. i was thinking that i could easily find the ''un-edited'' or simple version of my original OS. but i've looked through many sites without succes.. either looks 2 good to be true or just fake...
is there anyone who can advise me on what to do? i just want my phone to work with any OS right now... but which one is the cleanest or best to use? i do prefer a newer os like 10
thanks in advance!
If you still have access to recovery mode, your best choice would probably be installing LineageOS. It's the most lightweight ROM and many ROMs are based on Lineage. From what i can see, your phone is no longer officially supported.
I found this one based on Lineage 18.1 (Android 11). Before installing, take a look at the bugs, working, and installing sections.
And don't forget to install the Google Apps after installing the system and before rebooting.
that looks crispy. i appreciate your quick & good advise. can you tell me wether i can still run Magisk on it?
Yes, you can still flash Magisk or any type of root with both the OS and the GApps.
what i'm consider about is, wether a region code CRC matters?
Are there any suggestions or working weblinks for a (quantum) kernel which has the option to run it in SELINUX enforced mode? Or has anyone been able to run the A8 on Android 11 or 12 in enforced mode? If so which ROM/kernel did you use?
I'm looking for quite some time, tried various kernels and selinux switches but till now I'm unable to find one. All the ones I'm able to find only work in permissive mode I'm unable to switch them to enforcing.
I've trebled my phone (a530f) and I want to use it with a custom ROM like CRDROID or any other GSI.
Looking forward for some inputs!
Hi,
I've been away from messing about with android phones from almost a decade. A lot has changed so far. There is now so many different things associated with rooting your phone, and I was hoping someone could clear some stuff up for me.
1. Will unlocking the bootloader itself cause some issues with using banking apps or raise some red flags with other apps ?
2. Some ROMs use their custom recovery for flashing ROM to keep the encryption intact. They say flashing with magisk or twrp will break encryption. What encryption are they talking about ? And if encryption is indeed broken, what problems will that cause ?
3.If the phone is rooted, and custom rom installed, are there magisk modules, or any other way to hide it and use the phone normally ? You used to able to hide root on your phones back then.
Thanks
BB

1) yes
2) not sure, I've never seen anything about this question.
3) In the past, hiding root wasn't that difficult, now it is significantly harder, if it can even be done at all on modern devices. I guess it depends the specific device and android version question. I see many users looking for a way to hide root, I don't recall any of them finding a solution.
Hello,
I own a motorola one vision and would like to flash LineageOS 20 on the device. I am creating this thread to know the experiences of people who did something similar. I would like to know if there is any issues with a custom ROM on this device [calling issues, or similar]. I would also like to know if there is a way to revert back to the stock ROM in case I screw up something. I have read several threads about this device but I would like to confirm it again and be provided with some pointers of what I could expect with a custom ROM on this device and how I could revert back to the stock ROM in case I screw something up.
Thanks in advance

I have been using lineageos since last year. I have used lineageos19 and am currently using lineageos20. The user experience is quite good. Everything works fine including calling except the hotspot. Hotspot does work but you have to keep tapping on the toggle to enable the hotspot or you can just restart the phone that's the temporary fix for the hotspot issue. The developer might fix the issue in the future updates. Other than that I didn't find any issue with the ROM and also it doesn't pass the safety net so you have to root your phone and install magisk to bypass safety net so that you can use your banking apps.
There are two versions official and unofficial. Official gets update every week and unofficial one is with the pixel features and google apps. It gets monthly updates.
If anything goes wrong you can install the official software called lenovo rescue and smart assistant on your pc and connect your phone with usb to pc. It can recover your phone to the original android 11 stock ROM.

Hey! Sorry for checking after this long. I don't plan on using any banking apps so it will be fine for me. I already got my unlock code and just have to unlock the device and flash LineageOS. I will do that after backing it up. Thank you for your sharing your experience !!!
