Similar to another post, I have a Samsung S8 Active ("SM-G892A") that I bought from AT&T when I lived in the States. I moved overseas and switched to T-Mobile here in Germany. I tried to contact AT&T when they pushed out their newest update (".att [dot] com /devicehowto/tutorial.html#!/stepbystep/id/stepbystep_KM1223303?make=Samsung&model=SM-G892A") on the 10th of March 2020 and they basically told me to pound sand. Obviously, T-Mobile (here in Europe anyway) never had the SM-G892A (nor the US T-Mobile version - "SM-G892U"). So there is no way to get any updates while I am here.
I have seen updates for the "U" model, but I saw another post where someone in my same position asked if you could flash an update for a "U" version on an "A" phone, but they were told no. But they did not ask what I am asking, so maybe there is a solution out there.
I want to install the newest patch (Release date: March 10, 2020, Android version: 9.0, Security patch level (SPL): January 1, 2020, Baseband version: G892AUCU5CTA2, Build number: PPR1.180610.011.G892AUCU5CTA2) but I can't seem to find it anywhere else and AT&T only seems to do it over the air.
My phone currently has the following: Android ver 8.0.0, Samsung Experience 9.0, Baseband ver G892UACS3BSA1, and build # R16NW.G892AUCS3BSAA1
I am totally new to this whole thing, so if you have any suggestions, please be prepared for me to asks questions. I am intelligent, but this is all new to me.
ANY Help would be great!

I downloaded it myself, and everything looks fine but I haven't flashed it yet.

Hi,
I am getting somewhat unhappy with the lack of official updates for my unlocked SM-G920F (DBT) S6, which I bought from Amazon Germany. Looks like the UK variants have a much more recent BTU firmware dated January 2016, while mine is stuck with October 2015 update.
PhoneInfo shows the following:
Product code: SM-G920FZKADBT
Original CSC: DBT
Firmware's CSC: DBT
Active CSC: DBT
Bootloader: G920FXXU3COI9
PDA: G920FXXU3COI9
CSC: G920FDBT3COI6
Baseband: G920FXXU3COI9
Would it be possible for me to flash the latest official BTU firmware without tripping Knox?
Many thanks for your comments!
Yes.

Many thanks for your response! This is a good news
Do I need to change CSC somehow, or would it be sufficient to just flash the latest BTU firmware with Odin?

Switching is not going to help you as the BTU version is just as old as the DBT version. COI9 is the latest release for both countries.
You will have no benefit by switching to BTU.
It seems that since October, Samsung has only updated the carrier versions of their builds and not the Open/carrier independent versions.
There is one notable exception, which is the NEE version for Denmark/Sweden. This at least has the security updates dated Dec. 1 and is, aside from Marshmallow, the best you can do for the SM-G920F.
What I did was just flash NEE on top of the existing firmware (in my case BTU). That provides a mixed CSC version for the time being but can be healed by flashing BTU again, when Samsung finally comes out with a new firmware.
What I would recommend for you to do is to complain with Samsung. I have emailed them and made it clear that they promised monthly security updates in August 2015. Their promise is what prompted me to purchase the Samsung S6 in September. After the purchase, they delivered exactly one monthly update for it, then 4 months of delivering nothing.
They have not kept their promise and I suggest you (and everyone else who is upset by this) let them know. In my case I have also asked them for a return of the phone.
This is also something I will now attempt to initiate through my dealer.

You are right, the latest BTU is the same G920FXXU3COI9 :|
I already complained to Samsung twice, the last time was yesterday, but they were not forthcoming. I also bought the device hoping for the monthly updates, but didn't get any since October 2015.
And it's only going to get worst for updates as they be very few & far between for the S6 this year once the S7 is launched.
Yeah, this is kinda sad.

Quite honestly the S6 is the best phone I've ever used and I would love to keep it. But the update policy, especially considering the promise Samsung made, is not acceptable. I'll keep you updated on my attempts at returning it.

Thanks! I thought about returning mine, but won't even try: it's easily one of the best phones for the money, the only alternative for me would be an iPhone 6/6s, and I'm not prepared to go that route
hey, of course you can flash btu firmware on german handset. that's what i always do after buying samsung's phone. it's the cleanest one with no bloat.

I just received a response from Samsung basically telling me to f*ck off and contact a local repair shop. Sent them the following:
Hi,
Many thanks for your response! Unfortunately, my location (Cyprus) is not on the list. Moreover, I own a factory unlocked and carrier-independent EU version sourced from Germany (DBT), which does not depend on the local carriers.
As far as I can see, the latest update for Galaxy S6 (DBT), as well as for the UK unlocked and unbranded version of Galaxy S6 (BTU), is G920FXXU3COI9, dated October and September 2015 respectively - I checked Sammobile, XDA forums and other Internet resources to verify this. My understanding is that no further updates have been released to the aforementioned unlocked and unbranded EU versions, either DBT or BTU, thus my question is: where are the November 2015, December 2015 and January 2016 security updates promised by Samsung and "released" on paper?
I bought the device based on the promise that it would get frequent security updates, only to face another letdown by Samsung. I would appreciate an explanation and an estimate of when the above updates will become available to my device.
Thanks!

Let's see how it goes.
Hi everybody, as soon as i bought XZP in the US, i knew i wanted to use the fingerprint, so i install central europe version. Since then i havent received any OTA patches. I am using AT&T in the US.
do you have the same problem?
Use the Xperia Companion to receive the latest firmware
I purchased mine from the UK so I would not have to flash anything. I received the July update late in July. I am still waiting for the August update and expect it to be late in August also. I am on AT&T.
HK international device in the US with the CE Europe Version Software. I have the July Security Patch, but not the August one.
I flashed the US one briefly, and I got the July and August out of the gate. Which made me question not only why, but which version is actually more secure. Because the EU and US both have different set of Security restraints put on devices that are stipulated by the goverment, (Or governing bodies)
I am on the August 1st one, I received an update yesterday morning. Also in the US and flashed the CE1 firmware.
My US version flashed to CE1 also got .120 recently.
And you are on AT&T network? I still have the 45.0.A.5.1 of June 1st
And are you on AT&T network? I still have the 45.0.A.5.1 of June 1st
I guess i will have to full re-image my phone with a brand new .120
ROM....
I did not get my July update until the last week of August. I still haven't received the August one.
Hi all. I have currently bought Galaxy s8 active to use it in Europe - Poland. It is a sprint / tmobile U variant. I have checked with samfirmware and since it's on G892USQS5BSF2 version - I assume it's a sprint version. It is hard to determine as they are both coded G-892U. Anyways the phone works well but the security patch is from last year and it's still on android 8. There apparently is an update to Android 9 but the phone won't update via OTA. And so are the questions:
1. Since they both are the "U" versions - can I flash the tmobile android 9 rom on it? I am asking because it's being used in tmobile Poland network.
2. If not, can someone reassure me that it indeed is a sprint version and flashing the latest sprint rom will do no damage?
3. Any idea why the caller id and spam protection option is grayed out? Is this because of regional limitation?
Thank you

According to Samsung its not released in UK as its carrier dependent even if you purchased it through Samsung directly.
I have told them I'm not happy after being told will get regular updates and these are supposed to be every quarter at most.
Absolutely disgusting that purchasers are being treated like this still.
It doesn't support Volte, does it?

Just flash DBT with Odin! why wait for Samsung as all they are good for is taking the piss!
I have recently purchased the Note 20 Ultra 5G in the UK. But I got sent a South Korean variant. I have looked around and I don't seem to find anyways to get Samsung Pay working here in the UK. It kept asking for a Korean sim card. Also, it would be nice to get rid of the preloaded South Korean apps.
Model: SM-N986N
Android 11
Security Patch Level: 1 Dec 2020
I have read about the *#272 method and tried it. Also the IMEI method. Both the default Samsung dialer app and Google Phone did not bring up the menus.
I have also read about downgrading the phone to July security patch. But this phone launched with August security patch. Even though the rom download on Sammobile said the rom is from July, it still contained the August Security patch, which meant it won't work with other methods.
I really want to use Samsung pay, thus I don't want to trip KNOX and root. Do you guys have any recommendations that I can try?

Hi,
Same case for me, I'm based in France and I have this Korean model. I can't find a French ROM or an "EU" ROM for using Samsung Pay and the others features. If someone could help us it would be cool. Thanks !
