(XT2005-3) ADB drivers not working - Moto E6 Questions & Answers

I've been trying for 2 days now. USB debugging has been on through all of it.
The drivers from the Motorola website install and the plug-in sound is sounded when it is plugged in. When the phone is on the driver works, but not when it's in fastboot mode. When I go into the device management window, it shows that the Motorola driver is active, but the e6 itself isn't really mounted, it's not recognized by adb or Windows itself. When I uninstall the Motorola drivers from the device manager, a driver something along the lines of "Surfna S" appears with an exclamation mark next to it. So the driver is broken and also not the right kind because I have an e6, not an e6S. Am I even doing the right thing? How can i get the drivers working?

It's possible that you need to manually select the USB driver

Hey, I know this and old post but you seem very well informed on the topic I'd like you to answer one question, please.
I have almost the same problem as OP, I have a Moto e6s, I check the drivers and the PC detects when the phone is connected and disconnected but I can't pass the < waiting for device> command.
I used to have a device that requires me to hold up some button to engage the fastboot commands but I'm not sure if this could be the case on any Moto.
Thanks in advance.

The phone screen just shows some bar code the moment I connect the USB.
Yes is Windows 10
Devices manager recognize the device as Android Phone> Android ADB Interface
Also, I have another phone a Huawei and the fastboot commands work fine on that phone.
This is not my phone but it looks like this plus the bar code

I suspect that Motorola devices that show a barcode have a restricted fastboot mode by carrier request, but that's just a guess.

I don't think so, I bought it through Amazon so is not attached to any carrier. I used to have a Moto e5 from Verizon and the Huawei are both blocked but I can use <fastboot devices> on those, not this one. I found it very weird. Any other idea? :c
Look I found these videos, they show how to wipe a phone through the recovery mode, I just assume the recovery being different wasn't relevant.

There are carrier locked versions on Amazon and Amazon also has Amazon locked versions.
There are few different things that can be locked.
Sim locked means it's locked to certain sim cards and/or cell bands.
Motorola Software Channel can also be locked, the bootloader is usually locked if on certain software channels like Verizon, AT&T, Amazon...
Retail Channels are not usually locked like Retail, RetUS, RetAR, RetEU...
The Software Channel maybe listed in
Settings/about phone sometimes it's not.
The SKU/model # may help narrow it down but not always
Edit:
Usually when listed as unlocked, that refers to sim unlocked, and not the bootloader.

Did you fixed your issue ? In my case, it work in usb debugging mode for files transfer, fastboot work but adb devices don't see the phone at all.
Xt2005-5 so I didn't found any working TWRP so I can't add Magisk, Gapps and so on ...

[Q] Can't connect phone to PC

I posted this before but didn't get much response and I still have this problem. I rooted my phone using the 1.85 method, and am currently rooted, but not unlocked. I've tried to unlock the bootloader, but since device manager does not detect the device I can't unlock it. The phone charges when connected to the PC (IO panel, not front), but the connection type does not appear in the notification pull-down, and device manager does not display the device. This wasn't true before rooting, and now that my PC can't detect the phone I can't unlock and I can't copy over files from my PC to my phone. I have current drivers successfully installed, and I haven't updated any software beyond stock on my phone (1.85, 4.0.3), though AT&T has tried to push an update on my phone this morning.
How can I solve my problem? This is my first Android phone, and I wanted to unlock the bootloader to be able to flash ROMs and develop my own, but at the moment it isn't possible.

Yes, USB debugging is on. I tried adb using this guide (http :// www . thesuperusersguide . com/adb-backup--restore.html sorry can't post links), but once I paste in “adb backup –apk –shared –all –f /backup/mybackup.ab," I get back adb: unable to connect for backup."

In 1.85, there was the option to default your connection type. It may be set to charge only. Check your settings. This may be the issue.

As it seems the USB port I was using wasn't connected properly to the motherboard, so I had to do some tinkering there. It all worked out though*, thanks for the help.
*Except that I accidentally installed the OTA update instead of postponing it and removing notifications... Now begins the wait for a 2.23 root method. Woe is me.

[Q] [HELP]Moto G (4.4.2) USB debugging wont work

Hey guys, i have the following problem.
So I want to unlock the bootloader of my Moto G but to do that I must use USB debugging. But if I use the command "adb devices" it gets always shown as offline. So I did a little research and found out, that since 4.4.2 a Pop-Up should show up to allow USB debugging with the connected PC.
Problem is this Pop-Up won't show up...
Could you please help me. I couldn't find a solution. Really frustating
Have you enabled USB debugging in Developer Options in settings?

Of course I did ^^

For my XT1031, I had to use the Motorola USB drivers for ADB to work, and Kush's Universal ADB drivers for Fastboot to work.
And if you are using Windows 8/8.1, then you have to disable to forced signature verification in order to install the Universal ADB drivers.
Also, for ADB to work in Windows, I had to set the phone's USB computer connection to Camera (PTP), instead of Media Device.
I'm using Motorolas Drivers. I downloaded them from the official website.
My ADB is also on the latest version (1.0.3.1). Also tried to factory reset my phone. Nothing works, the pop-up wont show up...

Dude, you need to follow the instructions step by step and provide more info about what's going on.
1. Is your "Enable ADB debugging" enabled? You said yes.. does your phone show "Android debugging enabled" icon when you plug it into your computer? If not, you don't have it enabled !
2. If you see the notification, go to Device Manager (hope you are using Windows, or I can't really help you), then can you find your device there? If the USB drivers are installed correctly, then you should see "Android Device" then a "Motorola ADB Interface" inside it. If not, you will see a yellow exclamation with something like "Motorola device"..
3. Did you change your phone's USB computer connection to Camera (PTP)??
If adb says that the device is "offline" but you see its ID, then you didnt authorize (on the phone) the pc to access USB Debugging, its a new feature of 4.4.When you connect your phone, a prompt should appear (check the status bar if it doesnt), saying a computers with RSA Key XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX requested access to USB Debugging.
good luck
First of thanks for your help, much appreciated
1. Yes I have USB debugging enabled. If I plug in my Moto G a icon appears in the Notification-Center which says "USB debugging activated"
2. Yes if I go into the Device Manager I can see Android Device
3. Yes I ded change my USB-Setting to PTP
Any other ideas ?

Everytime I try to do this i get the errormessage, that those commands or not known even if I'm at the right folder with the fastboot.exe within it. Because of that I thought I would need the connection to be online (I'm kinda new to all of this ).

Also, in your Device Manager, is the Motorola ADB interface properly installed? (no issues)?
And yes, to unlock the bootloader you just need Fastboot... when you boot to Fastboot and type "fastboot devices" do you see anything?
Okay, I will Unlock my Bootloader tomorrow but I would like to fix this issue, because I might encounter it in the future :/

You can revoke all authorized devices for adb access. The option is right below the USB Debugging switch in Developer Options.
Then reboot your moto g and try again.

Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo - Few Q's

I just got this phone today. Its a good little phone for the price but Id like to try some other stock 4.4 kernels if possible.
I have rooted the phone and I can get into fastboot mode but fastboot.exe just hangs at waiting for device.
I think this is a driver issue as in device manager in windows I have "Android" listed with no driver. I have downloaded fastboot and adb drivers but this has not worked.
Is there another driver I need for this to work with a Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo?
Thanks.
Bump anyone?

when you said you got into fastboot mode, did it just say fastboot mode or did it give you options? mine just says fastboot mode which is no good as it doesnt give options to start fastboot its because vodafone or coolpad have messed about with it that much its useless. ive just had a reply off coolpad americas as i sent email there didnt know uk address but they said there waiting for a reply from uk counterparts and then theyll sent me source code and other tools for phone.(we'll see if they do).
i thought bootloader was locked on these phones or is it because some have 4.4.4 firmware it cant be rooted as a lot with 4.4.2 firmware have confirmed root?
I dont have this phone anymore.
I never did manage to try other kernels etc
My friend has this phone, rooted via kingroot. Any custom roms (esp cyanogenmod) out for it? BTW, cant find any custom recovery, pls post links to them if you can find any thanks
2017 still main phone
Rooted it & took Gapps & everything off...still using it daily for surfing sessions.
Have the 7 version which is just as excellent...waiting for an easy root method, but I think they're being locked tight.
Would be nice to have an option in 'developer' section that pops up after 3 months & offers root...,....

WINDOWS 10 RESOLUTION
My LG was undetected in fastboot in spite of every ADB driver I downloaded. I resolved this by:
1. Uninstalling all downloaded LG driver software
2. Installing LG PC SUITE!
Run the suite and hit "connect". It'll then tell you that a driver is missing and give an option to "Reinstall driver" from within itself. Once you install from the PC suite, your device will be discovered in fastboot. I have finally rooted my aristo!
Please let us know.

motorola one vision hardbrick

hey, my motorola one vision got this message displaying " your device has failed verification and may not work properly" that i rescued it and replaced firmware with motorola assistant software then after a while it dead again and now hardbricked it is not not even recognized by my pc before it showed at least exynos driver in ports now it displays not recognized, I tried giving it to service center but they returned it and told they can't fix it connsider going come other center...., so is there anything i could do to get it recognized by my pc..?
Hardbricked means a hardware component became faulty thus phone is dead. In your case phone is basically working even though erroneous: that means your phone may be softbricked.
BTW: The mentioned message is normal if phone's bootloader is unlocked.

Both ADB and Fastboot at Android-side get initialized by phone's bootloader. If ADB works but Fastboot not then phone's Android is corrupted. This is obviously due to the fact that you have tampered Android.
