Samsung s6 SM920I 128 GB efs invalid argument. Replace mainboard to fix... - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok..
I have tried for days to fix this efs invalid argument issue on an s6 SM 920I phone I bought cheap on eBay.
No efs backup available.
I also have a broken s6 SM 920I 32 GB that I have obtained, hardware condition is unknown as I have not received it yet.
I want to replace the 128 GB mainboard with the 32 GB mainboard and see if phone works and can make calls.
If it does I will take an efs backup and keep on my PC.
I will then change the 128GB mainboard back and hopefully restore the saved efs back up.
Is this do able???
Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome.
I have searched the internet.
I cannot use Adb as it won't recognise my broken phone.
I have basic knowledge and am pretty good at hardware.
Please be kind:///

Ok...
After more searching I was able to fix my 128 GB using info from this thread.

I was able to flash a stock rom and got my imei and baseband back.
Phone is back to normal.
Hope it helps others...

[Q] Is there any way to get back my IMEI?

Hey guys! I'm sorry if this is an annoying question. I have a Samsung Galaxy SL i9003.
Not to make it too long i'll summarize my problem.
I had lost my imei once and i was able to get it back with 9 steps to get your imei back thread but now it doesn't work. When i dial *#06# it's BLANK. No Numbers or 0049 just IMEI and okay button. I have a backup but copying it back to Efs didn't work. I dont have an "insane chip" It's normal as brickbug checker app says. I went to a phone shop they couldn't fix my problem with z3x and stuff like that. Samsung service center wanted 175$ for motherboard replacement so i refused that it's too much for a 2 year old device. So yeah, is there any way for me to take it back to normal? 'Cuz i can't afford a new phone and they're all very expensive in Turkey 'cuz of dumb taxes Turkey has.
Hope to find a solution. Peace out!
ps. If this is an emmc problem is there any way to do some repartition to it?
Ps. Today i've flashed DDLF2 and i saw that it rebooted to recovery and there was an error which says "Cannot mount /efs" I hope you guys can give me some tips to solve this..

[Q] Nexus 5 Possible EFS issue, IMEI already repaired

First post, long time lurker, so i'll start with a big thanks to the entire community for all the help you've unknowingly given me.
I just got a nexus 5 to replace my original n5 which has a broken screen. I took a backup of the original and restored it to the new one. Unfortunately i didn't know what EFS was, so i restored the old EFS to the new phone. IMEI went to zero. HUGE BUMMER.
I was able to fix the IMEI with QPST, but the new phone will not connect to the network. I've run a check on the IMEI and it is not blacklisted. Without incriminating myself, lets just say that i'm positive that the new IMEI is good.
The phone recognizes that i've inserted a SIM but shows no signal. I've tried to search for networks, i've checked the APN settings...
I REALLY don't want to send this to LG since they can't give me a price or even a ballpark figure without me shipping them the phone...
Any advice on next steps would be greatly appreciated.
What should i try next?!
flash the factory img and do not restore your efs on it.

I guess i should have mentioned that i've flashed factory also. Currently the phone is on the latest firmware, unrooted, locked bootloader. Flashing factory had no effect at any point.
I bought this phone on Swappa BTW, so i am assuming there are no hardware issues. I'm not at all certain what else may have been screwed up by having another phone's EFS restored over this "new" phone's EFS...
More Info
I am able to attempt to manually select the network. When i search for networks, the available networks are shown, but when i try to connect it shows the Registering dialog for quite a while, then fails. This is the same behavior as a working phone without a SIM installed. The odd part is that the phone will recognize when a SIM is installed or removed. It seems that my problem may be that the SIM is not being read properly or the data is being lost/corrupted between SIM and antenna. Is this possible? Is this EFS corruption? is this something i can fix? Please help.
Bump?

help needed - S6 IMEI/BASEBAND UNKNOWN -

Hello dear ones, I'm lost and I need your help.
I've bought a used SM-g920f, knox x0. It worked flawlessly. Until the first evening when in the middle of a phone call the phone app crashed. After resetting the phone it was still unable to connect to network. I have noticed that baseband/IMEI were set to unknown and so it could not read my sim card.
First I have tried the obvious - upgrading from lollipop to marshmallow. It went easy but did not help. Neither did help resenting to factory settings.
I have rooted and installed twrp recovery adb and stuff.
After almost two days playing with it, I seem to be out of options.
What I tried:
Flashing Different roms - stock and non-stock. (G920FXXS3DPB2_G920FXEU3DPB1_G920FXXS3DPB3_HOME, G920FXXS3DPB2_G920FOXX3DPB2_G920FXXS3DPB3_HOME, Pure-Stock.ExtraLiteROM_XXU3DPCA.DEODEX-v5.5.by.ambasadi, XtreStoLite-ROM-3.0-Final-DPCA) - I do not know the country of origin of this device. (the back is from testing unit), is there some way to know correct original stock ROM ?
Flashing Different modems - (G920FXXS3DPB1_Modem_TWRP, G920FXXU3DPB6_Modem_TWRP, G920FXXU3ZPA1_Modem_TWRP)
Checked sim card in another phone/different card in this phone - if sim card would be invalid, would I still get missing baseband?
Xposed Imei Changer - it did change IMEI. But that's it. Baseband still missing.
*#0011# and other *# stuff..
And I have wiped /efs (it did generate new nv_data. Guess now even broken IMEI would make ma happy)
Any ideas ?
How can I know what can be wrong? /efs partition? wrong firmware combination? hardware issue?
In Samsung Phone Info I get empty on Modem Board, Hardware Revision,Samsung Serial Number,Baseband Version.
Than you for any help or idea!
tried smart Switch emergency reinitialization?
Just to be sure, knox is triped now?

Note n8000-restore my imei number-no call service

Good morning everyone..
I have a note 10.1 n8000... it was rooted with cm12.1 and everything works fine...after a year i decide to change my rom to stock...so i flashed the official stock rom over odin.everything works fine except the service...i dont have signal on my tablet.i am serching for about 3 days and i found that is an imei problem...my imei changed to 004999010640000/01 which is a generic imei as i read...i tried some possible fixes but nothing changed... how can i solve my problem? How can i restore my imei back to normal??i called samsung service and they told me that i need a new motherboard to fix the problem.i dont think so...
My tablet isnt rooted right now... i need a non rooted solution first but if it isnt possible i will root my tablet again..
Thanks for your time...
Restore your backed up EFS folder see multiple identical posts ( failed to backup
take it to a service centre for a fix).
I don't have the efs backup... is it possible if I root my device? I saw many videos that change imei if the device is rooted.. even apps on google play store.. can these apps make it work?
Maybe another way with rooting?
No point rooting it cannot help.Service centre next step.

IMEI and Baseband problem, need help, fast

Recently, motherboard on my S6 (SM-G20F) died and I had my motherboard replaced, having made a backup, accidentally, on my old motherboard, I tried to restore all the information I had to my new motheboard.
The problem started when there was a complication durning the restore process and I was forced to flash firmware (by the way, the new motherboard is from Switzerland, the guy from which I bought the motherboard is not sure who was the phone carrier, so I was forced into flashing diffirent Swizerland firmwares) and I have lost my IMEI and baseband number.
I have already tried flashing stock firmware in order to resolve the IMEI error, Octo box and similar software are not free, so, what would You suggest ?
Thanks in advance !
