I am used to setup custom screen dpi / smallest width over predefined range on any smartphone. I just prefer more content on screen with smaller UI. From Android 10 update there are some problem with scaling and icon density although on Android 9 all was working perfectly well. In my opinion problem is mainly in status bar toggle scaling but I am not sure. At worse phone revert to smallest width maximum 411 after any restart doesn't matter which value is requested. Higher density content on screen is one of the most important smartphone feature for me to the point that I regret the purchase of V50. Is there any solution or temporary workaround?

Hi
I'm in the process of installing a Android-stick in my car by HDMI to display on the original 7" screen and controlled with a touch-plate overlay.
That part is done and its working, but with such a low res screen (800x480 native) with stick running 720p the menus and text become unreadable even in "huge" mode. This i was able to more or less fix by using an app "Resolution Changer" which allows for changing resolution and DPI.
Problem is that icons will start to overlap/cut eachother if tweaked too muuch and app names disappear, also the standard android menu and statusbar remains tiny.
My biggest problem now, after trying a different launcher, this one with a "windows 8" kind of layout, all icons are on top of eachother and I cant switch launcher back or find the icon for settings or Resolution Changer.
Hope anyone have tips on how to solve it other than reflashing, well, Its not a biggie, but would prefer not to.

That's because of the STUPID skinning that Huawei did to its EMUI overlay. I think it is in theory possible to hack the SystemUI or to re-skin the navbar, but it's probably a rather difficult process or more people would do it. Easiest thing is to install Xposed framework, App Settings module and set the SystemUI back to 480 dpi. I know of no other workaround. (Also, setting SystemUI back to 480 dpi also fixes a number of other awkward theming issues, e.g. on the lock screen. The camera app also looks weird at a lower dpi, etc. etc.)
The navigation bar is noticeably taller after a ota update. the current version is FRD-L04C567B162
is there a way to reverse this? just the nav bar setting??
They changed it because people were complaining about it being too small. I don't know of any option to change the size in Settings. You can lower the DPI setting a little which reduces its size. Mine's set to 440 or 420 from 480 if I'm remembering correctly.

them idiots! way to make your own phone appear smaller.
Yesterday I updated to the new stock Oxygen (Android 10) and went very dissapointed , the flow in the system is worse but the sRGB mode in the display settings got worse and isnt as acurate as before.
But also the option for hiding the Notch got worse, before it was possible to have a straight black line just on the sides of the Notch with the clock and battery icons. Now the icons is under the line of the Notch and it is aslo round corners with is ugly which also mean less screen size
Anyone who know a fix on this one or is the only option to downgrade to Anroid 9 again?
Hey everyone, is there any rom that can enable DC Dimming on the Pixel 7 Pro? I don't mind sacrificing on color accuracy but I really would appreciate DC Dimming on it as the screen flickers at really low 240hz frequency and gives me eye strains and headaches.
Thankyou!
afaik you can download a screen dimming app and reduce the brightness with it, should have the same effect since official implementations take the same approach. the only thing that won't be affected though are some system overlays (notifications, lock screen, statusbar icons)
