Some apps have the ability to play sound notifications through my Bluetooth device and also through the phone which confuses me.
I would think because the Bluetooth is connected that the sound would be diverted to the Bluetooth however it finds a way to play the sound through the Bluetooth and the phone.
How can I take away the ability to do this of these apps. I do not see the option in the notifications settings of the app.
I'm on android pie stock rom, rooted btw
Thank you for any help

Every time I connect A2DP in my car it launches the music app. Can't find anywhere to disable this annoying behavior.
It might be under the app Smart Connect.
no, those are things you set up. I have no actions set for such behavior.
I don't think it's the phone that take this decision. I think it's rather the bluetooth device that send the "play music" command that open the music app on the phone.
its not Sony, i dont have such issue with my BT devices, including one that is a BT speaker. If you claim its not smart connect, you might want to check other apps similar to smart connect or the BT device/'s app. If possible, also clear the BT device's app data or at least reinstall it.
if you cannot identify the root of the problem i would advise you to do a fresh start for the phone. do a comparison with the BT device's app and without the app.
So my setup is a 2013 Ford Focus with Sync and a Google Pixel. The Pixel is paired to the car and as soon as I start the car by default the phone connects via Bluetooth and all sounds from the phone can only be heard if I tell Sync to use Bluetooth audio. So any notifications, maps directions, etc are silenced if I'm listening to anything but the Bluetooth audio connection through Sync. So I manually went into the Bluetooth setting on the Pixel and turned off Media audio so I still get phone calls automatically through Sync but can still hear directions, notifications, etc via the Pixel's speaker. But then I decide hey I want to listen to Pandora, Amazon Music, etc. and now have to go back into the settings and turn back on Media audio, which isn't really a safe thing to do while driving so I wait until I hit a red light or make a stop and turn it back on. What I'd like is for either a quick shortcut/widget type of thing that can automate that task of turning Media audio on and off, or some app that can detect I'm using say Pandora, etc. and make the switch automatically. I've tried googling, but can't quite seem to find anything that does this. I found apps/widgets to switch Bluetooth completely on or off but that isn't what I'm looking for, I want more granular control over Bluetooth settings. Any suggestions for an app that can help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Figured it out after a lot of googling
In case anyone else is trying to figure this type of thing out, Tasker and Bluetooth Auto Connect are going to be your new best friends. I was able to eventually fumble together a solution that can do the following every time the Pixel connects to Sync:
-raise the media volume to max
-turn off Media audio by default
-turn on Media audio if I open a streaming music app
It's not super intuitive and it doesn't work flawlessly (most likely because the way I've got it setup needs tweaking), but it does work very well most of the time. I'll just have to keep playing with it till I get it perfected.
Also of note there is a Google plus community for Tasker that is a huge help if you're trying to learn how to use it or need help.
That's what I do also. However, instead of Tasker, I use Automate by LlamaLab. I like Tasker a lot, but Automate has hundreds of pre -written routines already created by the community.
Hi All,
I am facing issues with my Samsung S7 Bluetooth connectivity to my Samsung Level U headset.
I can play media normally, however i am not able to engage in any kind of phone call (Whether over GSM or through VoIP)
Hence i can play music, record a whatsapp voice note, however regular phone calls, whatsapp calls, viber, line and all such things don't work.
What happens is that the Bluetooth icon becomes active in the call, however nothing can be heard... i would require to disable the Bluetooth icon in the calling application in order to hear again through the phone speakers.
I tried the following workarounds and none of them worked.
- Wipe the cache
- reset Bluetooth settings
- installed new firmware
- reinstalled Bluetooth application from samsung...
PS. the headset works great on other phones (iPhone, Samsung S5....) so i don't think it is a headset issue..
Appreciate your support and Thank you!

Hello woodmj,
Yes it is
Hello Guys,
I created this app because i have a kia sportage 2013 with basic bluetooth capabilities pickup calls and bluetooth audio.
So i tried tasker to fullfil my need but tasker was to buggy for me. So decided to create an app that will make my basic bt radio into a smart one but making sure i dont have to look at the phone as that is dangerous and i have seen my self doing stupid stuff just to check on a notification.
So the point is to use the phone but not even look at it so you can pay attention to the road.
This is the best friend (BFF) of your Bluetooth Car Radio or speaker, headsets, headphones.
Features:
-Auto play music from your default player as soon it connects to your Bluetooth device.
Ex: get in your car, turn it. phone auto connects to car and start playing music through bluetooth using your favorite player.
Get off the car bluetooth disconnects, music stops playing.
-Proximity Sensor: You can use the proximity sensor to switch to Next Track on your music player or Open Google Now!
Ex: You are driving, dont like current song, so you dont look at the phone or radio. just hover your hand over the screen and
the next track will start playing. You can also use this option to trigger the assistant and make calls, send SMS, switch to next
song by voice command or any other google voice command.
-SpeakOut incoming Notifications: you can select which apps you want the phone to speak out through your Bluetooth device once you get them, (SMS,Emails, Artist - Song information, hangouts, facebook, etc.
Ex: While driving you will get voice notification of any selected app, you can also use the proximity sensor to shut them up in
case you get something privite and you have company.
-Disable WIFI as soon you connect to your Bluetooth device and re-enable it as soon as you disconnects from bluetooth, perfect for Car rides and save battery.
-Enable Bluetooth if you get a phone call, so it can connect to your Bluetooth device without taking your phone out of your pocket.
Ex: if are into safe as much battery life as you can and dont like to enable BT or you forgot. This option will enable it for
you and connect to your car so you can go hands freeand no stress/danger by looking for your phone in your pocket.
-Max out the Call Volume as soon as you pick it up the call volume incase you turn it down by mistake and ofcourse you cant touch your phone when you drive
-Drive detection,it will enable bluetooth if you are driving a car. in case you forgot to enable BT.
Ex: if you keep BT disable you can use this option to make your phone detect when you are driving so it will auto connect
to your car. It uses GPS but it didnt take more that 1% out of my battery during my testing.
-Android Auto Integration: This option will speak out any notification from android auto.
Ex: if you are privilege and have android auto in your car you can make it shout out all new notification from the android
auto system.
-Still under development, so please bring your feedback and any idea is welcome, i just want people to stay away from their phones while driving and the only way i can do that is to make sure they still have access to the phone with out looking at it.
Thanks and i hope you like. By the way is free:

I'm going nuts.
So after the Oreo update when I connect to my ue boom and play Spotify the music just stops when I lock the screen. I already re paired the speaker and cleared data on Spotify. The weird thing is other apps work fine after the screen lock (a local radio app) and when I connect to my Bluetooth headphones I don't have that issue.
Any advice would be hilghy appreciated!
Blame Spotify. If the problem only exists in one app then only that app can be blamed. Try the options in Spotify for playing while the screen is off or while on lockscreen..
In oreo, in developer settings, there is a ton more options for Bluetooth. Might be worth having a fiddle with them..
