How to Restore Apps and Settings to new restriced User Profile - Motorola One Vision Questions & Answers

It's the first time I am fighting with Android User Management.
I set up a new profile. Setup Manager came up, but did not offer to restore apps and settings from Google Drive like it did with initial setup for main user. Unfortunately, the new user profile can not use USB Debugging to restore apps and data via adb. The system says, USB Debugging is only allowed for main user.
Could it really be that Android User Management is that useless that for all profiles except main user all apps need to be manually installed and set up? Or is there any "trick" to manually invoke Google Drive Restore later on?
The phone is Motorola One Vision with Android 10.

Backup Settings

So my understanding of the Backup settings is that your settings, like ringtones and applications will be loaded onto googles server so they can be restored if you do a factory reset.
I just flashed the beta 2 Cyanogen ROM but none of my applications are coming back to me. I had the backup selected before, so i dont know if i just need to be patient or what. its been like half an hour, i expected to see at least something by now.
Can anyone give me more information about this feature? I haven't been able to find much.
I just found this from Google

Back up my settings
Check to back up your phone's settings to Google servers, with your Google Account. If you replace your phone, the settings you've backed up are restored onto the new phone the first time you sign in with your Google Account. If you check this option, a wide variety of settings are backed up, including your Wi-Fi passwords, bookmarks, a list of the applications you've installed, the words you've added to the dictionary used by the onscreen keyboard, and most of the settings that you configure with the Settings application. If you uncheck this option, you stop backing up your settings, and any existing backups are deleted from Google servers.
I've had the backup settings checked and it worked perfectly for me. It reinstalled about 30 apps right after signing into google after flashing.
My only problem with it is that after it reinstalls everything I have no access to root. All my apps that require root hang at the SU request page and I never get the buttons to allow access.
Anyone else experience this? I haven't tried it with the new CM rom but it happened with enom's add on.

I think flashing a custom ROM changes the identifier or signature of your phone, so you won't get that backed up information synching back with your phone.

[Q] Phone/Transformer -> App Coexistence

Before I mess things up, thought I'd see what you folks think.
I wasn't surprised, but not positive how to handle this. My unit was set up to update everything by default, and it installed all many of the apps that are on my phone. Of course I don'dt want all of those on the Transformer.
My concern is that I don't want to mess up my phone if I uninstall apps from teh Transformer, having them uninstall from the phone.
Any suggestions for handling this?
Uninstall away, i did the same and the apps you remove from the tf will still be on ur phone
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA Premium App
Uninstall all you want, they won't be uninstalled from your phone. It's just meant as a handy feature when you get a new device, it'll install all your favorite apps for you.
I always turn that "feature" off before setting up my Google account within Android. Settings > Privacy > Uncheck Automatic Restore
NOTE: On phones at least (don't have my tablet handy), you have to check off Back up my data before you can uncheck Automatic Restore. That is why I do this whole process BEFORE adding my Google Account. Even if you tell Android not to back up your data during the setup procedure, it'll still sometimes do the Automatic Restore, because it's checked off (even though it's disabled in the Settings)
Thanks everyone...

[Notice] Google account info for ROMS Please Read.

I've noticed that there are a lot of users that are flashing ROMs and reporting FCs (Force Closes) after getting their accounts set up so I figured
I would share some information that will not only help the DEVs in new reports from users but also help users enjoy all of the work put forth by
the Devs.
This will cover the Google account settings and help understand some of the features that these settings have and how they effect ROMs once
they have been installed.
Google account auto Sync and App back-Up/Restore does just as it says but when using ROMs with different base versions such as 2.2.1 and 2.3.4
and all in between can have a bad side effect unless you set them up the right way. In "Settings" there are two allowances that you
have to make.
1. "Background Data ( Covers Applications can sync, send, and recieve data at any time. )"
2. "Auto-Sync ( Applications sync data automatically. )"
3. "Backup Data and Settings ( Backs up applications and system settings. )"
These work great for email, contacts, and calander accounts but Google actually backs up more than that. System files for previous settings and profile
settings also get backed up which can cause force closes and ROM errors if restored to a ROM using a different base version of these settings.
If you were using Froyo (2.2.1) and these two settings were on then its safe to say the permissions and settings from this profile were backed up in
anticipation that something may go wrong with your device, when you go to a different base version (ROM) such as Gingerbread (2.3.4) Google doesn't
check to see if the base version has changed when you first set up your phone (after flashing a new ROM) and restores the previous settings for those
accounts. Now if you just flashed something different than you had before this will cause "Force Closes" so lets get down to how to bypass the feature.
Most ROMs require you to reboot twice before setting up accounts or anything else which is correct but once the ROM has loaded for the second time it
may ask you if you want to log into your account(s) before continuing on, you want to skip through all of the steps including Wifi set up.
1. Go to settings.
2. select "Backup Data and Settings"
3a. Disable "Backup My Data" and "Automatic Restore"
3b. " If your a flash junkie like I am keep these settings turned off other wise you will have issues later"
4. Back out and go to "Accounts and Sync Settings".
5. Disable "Back Up Data and Auto Sync".
6. Back out and now go and sign into your accounts but don't sync them, just sign in.
7. go to each account and sync Contacts, Mail, and Calander manually.
After all of the accounts are done you can go back into "Accounts and Sync Settings" under General Sync Settings and enable them. This will bypass the app sync
feature Google uses for these accounts. There is also a way to disable JUST the app and system files in your Google account so it no longer saves system settings
and I'll update the thread at a later date.
I hope this helps with some of the issues people are having with various ROMs.
Edit: There are Apps that are saved by this method by Google, system settings, app settings and data of both which can also cause problems with the way a ROM runs and is managed. Be aware of the last time you saved prior system/app data and avoid these settings from being installed into the next ROM.

Samsung "My Files" app not connecting to Google Drive in Marshmallow update

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) running Android 6.0.1 as of yesterday. Before that it was Android 5.1.1. My device is not rooted.
When it was running 5.1.1 the My Files app was able to connect to Google Drive without any problems. After the update to 6.0.1 I would get a pop-up window directing me to Settings>Applications>Application Manager>Access Cloud where it instructed me to enable Storage and Contacts under the Permissions settings. Unfortunately, there are no permissions available to either select or deselect for this app, so there was nothing I could enable. I did try enabling those same permissions for the Google Drive app (for it they do exist and by default they are not enabled), but this did not help. I also cleared the cache for Access Cloud, but this did not help either.
Randomly, I just tried again, and Viola! - the much desired Google window opened asking me to grant access, which I did. Now it shows that My Files is connected, but there are no files available. Instead, the "Loading" wheel just keeps spinning.
What I wonder is:
1.) What changed to allow My Files to finally connect to Google Drive, and
2.) Why can't it actually load my files?
Disable Google 2-step verification
I believe I have found the answer to my question.
After logging into my Google Drive account and removing Access Cloud by way of the Options drop-down menu next to Access Cloud under Settings>Manage Apps. To be thorough I once again cleared the cache data for Access Cloud on my device by way of Application Manager. I then disabled the 2-step verification for my Google account (not something I recommend, but I was troubleshooting to see) and tried again to connect the My Files app to my Google Drive account. This time it worked and my files were visible within seconds. Unfortunately, turning 2-step verification back on seemed to prevent any files that had not already synced with my device from being available via My Files.
Hopefully this is helpful to anyone else who may find themselves struggling with the same issue.
Perhaps my best recommendation would be to use ES File Explorer Pro. It works brilliantly and allows you to connect multiple storage cloud services rather than only Google Drive.

[Help] Android 7.0 Multiple Users & Device Manager Not Working

So I decided to make another account on my Moto G4 and when that account is being used, Android Device manager cannot locate / call the device. Once I switch users back to the main account the phone will start ringing. I also tried logging into the Google account that is connected to the 2nd user and device manager could not communicate with the device. If this cannot be fixed, are there any other apps out there that can do the same thing? Thanks
