My phone is an LG G7 thinq and the sound quality is great with my Dre headphones but I was messing around with a ringtone app and I'll tell you now that I use Poweramp if you didn't notice in the title. for some reason I was increasing the volume on a few ringtones and went back in to listen to music in Poweramp pro and for some reason the volume was almost double. I mean it sounded like I was in a car with two 18 inch subwoofers in the trunk and pushing 4000 watts into each one. There was absolutely no distortion and this lasted until I turn the phone off for the night and when I came back the next day to try it out and see if it was still working that way the volume had returned to what was the usual. It has great sound quality but it pisses me off that governments or manufacturers or whoever it is limits the volume level in order to protect our ears. should we be the ones to decide if we want to go deaf? Hahaha like somebody would actually try to cause themselves harm. Anyway when I had a ton of bass and volume I created a backup or an export of my settings but when I try to import the settings the bass and volume did not increase the way it was after I had been messing with my ringtone app. I haven't been able to mimic this again and the only thing I can tell you is I have the Canadian Snapdragon model that I don't believe is rootable yet so does anyone know how I can increase the volume and base which I'm guessing will involve turning the power up somehow on the amplifier to achieve this or is it a lost cause? I tried about 20 different apps that were supposed to boost the volume and or the base and most did one or the other but if you boosted volume and base the sound actually got quieter in order to compensate for the excess bass I'm guessing. I want to know if there is a way to edit code or mess with the amplifier or change any files in order to achieve that evening of bliss where I did not need to go out in my ride and wake the neighbours. has anyone else found a glitch that causes this to happen and knows how to make it happen repeatedly? And why when you increase the volume level well the gain on the slider or any of the bass or treble sliders on the EQ why does the volume decrease when doing so when turning up the bass or treble most people's reason is because they want that particular part of sound to be increased not decreased and fine-tuned. I don't mind screwing up this phone in order to try and achieve this so if there are any suggestions please holler at me because I have found nothing and have been trying for 3 days now, not constantly I do stop to eat and pee and all that plus deal with family and kids but on my free time the past 3 days have been a big fail.
Somebody let me know what files to edit and how to edit them and if it's possible to edit them on an unrooted phone and I need methods that work on an unrooted phone unless somebody can point me to a root method that works on the LG G7 thinq and I will attempt it even though installing viper4android is what I'm going for. I know this will be counterproductive when it comes to sound quality but I'm more into the volume level and just clean and clear bass and treble with vocal on the EQ basically untouched so the EQ is in a u shape when I have it set the way I like it. Your help would be greatly appreciated and if I'm posting somewhere I shouldn't be or doing something wrong I apologize ahead of time as I'm newer 2 XDA and still learning. That's what this sites about isn't it? Anyway I'm out to do some errands but we'll check back later.
I'm ghost for a few hours. I will paste the output that I found in the app for you guys to view below. If somebody needs debugging info I can grab that later but I got to run right at the moment.

This is my preferred EQ settings with gain, far left at +/- 0. (Cut from shot)
I've turned off anything that involves volume ducking and EQ lowering when close to max db boost (as they claim in order to protect peoples headphones and or ears I can't remember which bull crap they were pushing but it's nonsense) if somebody is afraid their child might turn the volume to full blast and deafen themselves then they shouldn't let their child use their device unsupervised or they could use an app to lock the volume maximum. I know this **** is possible because it happened to me and I used it that way all that night. I just don't know how I triggered the massive increase in sound without distortion but bass and treble as if I was in a car with a banging system Pershing 5 to 10,000 Watts into two 18in subwoofers and I'm not lying, I couldn't believe my Dre headphones weren't just storing it was so loud. I just need help finding a way to replicate or alter the right settings to get things the way I want them and the bonus would be it would all be done without viper4android meaning your sample rate wouldn't be maximum 48k but it would go up to 320 k like the quad DAC is meant to which would be a way better situation. Any audio files out there who are also bass heads and into hip-hop and like it loud that can help me? No idea is a stupid idea so please toss anything in that you can think of.
If anybody is wondering I found what was causing my annoying quiet headphones. Well not quiet butt stock volume. I can't recall which switch I flicked but I grabbed a backup meaning and export of all my power amp settings and when hooked into my stereo or headphones the volume is way louder and hits like you wouldn't believe on the Doctor Dre headphones anyway. The volume switch you have to be careful with because it can be stock sound and then two clicks of an increase can drastically increase the volume. Don't blame me if you blow your speakers or damage your headphones but I have a link here that contains my Poweramp paid version settings export file and if you load it into yours you should get a much louder sound out of your phone. Download using your own discretion and if you're too dumb to know what discretion means then you probably should not use this file. I hold no liability for anyone who damages anything I am just providing this file for those who know what they are doing and are willing to take the risk to get a much louder volume and EQ bandwidth out of their LG G7 ThinQ.

Enjoy, just remember small adjustments of the volume can increase the output and volume level drastically so turn that up using patience not urgency. Haha that's funny I started and finished my own forum in a matter of a few hours when it took me three days before and I got nowhere. oh well hopefully somebody can get some use out of this, quiet music pisses me off. Enjoy and au revoir!
Did u tried to open severall app at same time that need to use the dac indeep? It looks like a crash on the audio device for some reason. When im on Windows, my other pc sometimes crashes the audio driver when I open music player, morphvox(mic tunner with troll effects), team speak and a game. The driver looks like crashed, and the sound comes distort and with metal echo.
Should open games, ig videos and other things as a call at same time for test If the "gain" come back. Is not too much help, but I know the braindead that produces find the solution on audio settings on Android, so I wish it help u
If the headphones have a detachable cable, connect cable to the phone first then plug it into the headphones.

Root is required to edit mxerpaths.xml. I think that's still the file name.
You would edit this file in the phone and any app installed would be awesome.

I'm on a note 10+ now. Gave the LG G7 to my daughter. Would it be the same file on any phone and do I need root to do the editing of the file? Is it a system app file or user file I could edit without root?
I appreciate your help. Talk soon.
Never mind I see in your title that I need root and I would imagine on the Note 10 plus you would need root also. Thanks for the update though and I took down the filename in case I jailbreak this phone

Hey,
I have had a HTC Touch sins 5th of December and i have found a problem I'm not sure if anyone is aware but its quite annoying. The sound through headphones and even to the extent of through the speakers is very quite and I'm not sure what i can do to improve that. Is there some kind of update or something. I could understand the phone speaker being quite and i don't partiuclly mind that but when trying to use it to listen to music or watch a film i find i can't even make out what there saying.
I don't have bad hearing so it can't be that.
Thanks for any help you can provide in advance
Did you make sure that your device volume is turned up all the way? Also make sure that your media player volume is turned up all the way.
It may also be that the media files you are playing have very low volume. Compare this by playing these files on your computer - do you have to turn your computer speakers up high just to hear? this would confirm low sound right in media file.
Do you have wow or srswow or whatever it is called installed. I have heard others having problems with this installed on their devices. this could be the problem. Uninstaling did not work in their case and they had to perform a hard reset (possibly because it had changed registry settings) I don't know if there is any other explanation or solution to your problem. The only time I have ever experienced low sound volume was when my volume settings were set low and I forgot to turn them back up.
to my knowledge there's no way of increasing hardware volume..
you can amplify the media using Goldwave or something.. and check that the volume meter is up all the way both in your media player and on your device.
Hey guys, I been trying to find a way to boost my volume lvl when watching a movie, the stock volume doesnt seem to be loud enough, my fan in my room drowns out the stock volume when pushed to near max lvl.
So far the only 2 apps that I found have been Volume+ and Equalizer so I wanted to know,
which of the two works best? If you use them what are your settings?
Can you have both Equalizer and Volume+ installed at the same time?
Or are you using a different app?
I currently have Volume+ installed and cant tell if its doing anything.
As far as Equalizer goes, i have no idea what bars to push up so i pushed them all up and that seem to help make my volume louder.
Thanks.

As far as I know, Volume+ was made to work with Gingerbread phones only as stated in the developers market page, meanwhile Equalizer has been officially updated to support Honeycomb tablet screen sizes. I have been using Equalizer myself since the Xoom launched back in February. It worked great then, and now it works even better with the recent Honeycomb UI update!
The best sound output settings would be to drag all of the bars up to +15dB. The bass booster intensity, virtualizer, and the reverb settings would all be your personal preference. It usually won't ever distort the sound in any way, but rather increase the overall system volume by... I'm going to say literally 10 times louder. You'll notice an immediate difference especially while listening to music or watching a movie. Also, make sure that you have the notification bar shortcut option checked as the equalizer can sometimes be shut down by the Android system. Doing so will force it to turn back on automatically after a few seconds time.
Been using this exact setup for months now, and couldn't be happier! Hope this helps.
Disagree with above post. Don't crank up all your sliders to Max. Increase DB means you will get more distortion especially bass. Yes it will be louder. But the audio quality is utter crap. Why trade loudness and throw away the quality sounds this machine can produce? Half way up or less and keep lowest bass and high trebble a bit further back is my Max recommendation for Equalizer app. Heck just experiment and listen. I have both apps. Volume+ was a godsend to my evo 3d. Ended up returning it anyways. The volume increase bar doesn't work the same way on zoom. Also once in a while you have to move certain sliders lower for the effect to kick back in. Overall it sounded fake, hallow, washed out. Equalizer is a way better app for the zoom. You can set profiles and specific files can use different profiles. You aren't losing loudness per say cause it never really worked on zoom like other phones and zoom is already loud. For speaker I just choose flat. All at zero. Better then what zoom had as default.

Hmm.. I have been doing what I said in my post above since I got the OG Droid pretty much since it launched. The Droid maxes out at 10dB. Been using DSPManager on it to drag all bars to max dB. Yes, I know what that means, but with this method you will not be turning the system volume all the way up. It will be much louder, and I have not noticed any quality issues while maxing the dB while my Xoom is connected to my 200 watt wireless speaker system with the subwoofer cranked all the way up. It will cause quality issues if the system volume is totally maxed out, of course. That's common sense, but you will not ever have the need to do such a thing if you simply just adjust your Xoom's system volume properly and accordingly. You pretty much never ever want to max out the system volume if you were to use these kind of heavy settings on an equalizer. Again, common sense.
But yes, that's why there are the adjustable bars for an equalizer. You can change the settings on the fly just as you please. No audio quality loss if you do it right. I'm a tech expert, and that's what I have been doing for years. Wouldn't ever change it because there is no quality loss if you do it correctly, and the sound is ten times louder. Only you can decide what works best for your situation. Thanks!
Is there an app or other software to boost the volume? All my volume settings are maxed and i cant really hear the caller. Sometimes, though, it comes in just fine, but most of the time it doesnt.
Thanks

I had this problem with another phone and after an extensive search, I ultimately gave up on it. I will share what I tried and maybe save you a little trouble.
First and simplest, try gently cleaning out the earpiece with a little toothpick, a pin, or better yet blow it out with some air. This seems to work for some people, as overtime gunk can build up inside the screen.
Next, there are a lot of apps that claim to work as volume boosters. Most of them are for speaker volume and not for in-call volume. After sifting through many of them I found one or two that claimed to help in call volume but they really did not work. If you go this route then "happy hunting".
Some ROMs have a hearing aid setting under the Accessibility options but I couldn't tell you which. The ROM I'm using has ways to change the volume steps for all volume settings and that might help (I'm using Liquid Smooth found here in the DEV section).
There is an Xposed module that enables you to adjust some volume steps.
Viper for Android gives you a lot of control over the sound of the device (it has Xloud) and it works well with the Apollo Music Player found on many ROMs but I can't say for sure it helps in-call volume. It sure makes music sound good though.
Last and hardest, if you are rooted and have a file managing app, you can go into the system files and edit them. This would probably require the assistance of a dev who could tell you exactly where these file are located and what the correct settings should be. Of course, there is always a chance of damaging your phone this way.
That's all I know. Hopefully, one of these options will work for you, or someone wiser will jumped in with a better solution. Good luck!
You need to tell everyone what software you are using and how long you have been having a problem.
Hey guys, I'm looking for a way to control my S6's mic's volume/gain input level, for weeks now, and I have found nothing.
The reason why I'm looking for a way is so that when I'm recording some video in a louder environment the sound gets blown out, cause the phone just can't handle the gain control automatically, so I'd like to lower it manually to have nice sounding recordings.
no one? why is there literally no info on this in the last few years? Is there an option hidden somewhere that I'm missing?
bump?
I'm looking for a way also.
I have a low volume in phone calls. Need to increase the gain.
I also have a low volume during calls. I flashed a MOD to increase the volume and although it is better, it's still not good enough.
Only possible through kernel tweak but there is no dev who is interested in doing that so im afraid you cant for the moment
I use the same headphones on my windows laptop and iPhone and max volume is basically ridiculously loud, on my Huawei T3 tablet if i watch a movie on max volume the characters basically whisper, wtf?
And I'm using the exact same material/streaming sites, something is off about the tablet itself.

Are you sure you're turning the volume up all the way on the tablet? You probably are, I'm just making sure you aren't missing the fact that on android devices, when you turn the volume up it stops before reaching full volume then gives a warning saying that listening at high volume can damage your hearing, if you cancel that warning you can turn the volume up a little more.
Try a different set of headphones. Try a different android device(not the iPhone)
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

I have turned it up to 100%, and cancelled the warning, still super low.
I have just tried my headphones on my brother's LG G5, works fine
This is my very first android device so I guessed there's some secret setting or something :\

You can try some volume boosting apps, there are many of them at the PlayStore but they don't work that well.
The best option is to root the device and edit some sound files similar to this solution in the thread linked below (WARNING, do not assume that you can do what they did, I'm just giving an example of the kinds of modifications you can make on android devices, the files and edits for you might be different on your device than what is in this thread)

Another option is to modify your sound file using a text editor to increase the volume output of the various individual outputs on your device (i.e.- in call volume for earpiece, in call volume for speaker, in call volume for headphones, in call volume for bluetooth headset and the individual volumes for speaker, headphones and headset when playing audio/video media)
Such as these examples(again, the file and the edits you need to make may be different)

Or

Or use some kind of sound mod such as Viper4Android(how it is installed is different for different devices, some are simple, some require some other things to be done to get it installed and working correctly)

Or Dolby Atmos
