thank you for you answer
/system/media/audio/ui/. Some files in there, likely the Effect_Tick.ogg or maybe a Keypress*.ogg.
thanks but thats not the solution
i know where is the file and if i play it in the player it is much louder (playing through the media vol) than played by the system ui vol
how can i control the system ui volume?
Pretty much all of your options are located in the Settings -> Sound menu. If they're at full, pretty much the only feasible way to increase sound is to either:
1. Edit the files i mentioned (audacity, for example, can do this)
2. Use an app such as Volume+. I'm unsure if this works on ICS though, i've not needed to jack up the volume myself.
Thanks
but you are still wrong i have volume+
and the touch volume is not controlled by any of the sound sliders in the sound menu
unless you put on vibrate then its mute
HTC One S, stock T-Mobile ROM.
Phone calls with a headset are uncomfortably loud on the lowest in-call volume setting.
Is there a setting I can tweak?
Volume+, give it a shot, there is a free version but I paid for the app, good app that works. I haven't tried reducing the volume on my headset yet but I know the app works for boosting volumes, I'm sure it has the ability to lower them also.

Thanks for the link!
Tried Volume+ and it only has options for increasing volume (+1...+4), thought it has a great interface.
I checked out a couple other apps in the play market and found that 'Volume Ace +' let me drop my 'system' volume to 0/7; this seemed to make my in-call volume a little better
I have voice call already set at 0/5. If there was a setting or app that could add a few more settings below 0/5 that would be great.
Hi @ all,
I recently purchased the Moto G and installed (after testing all functions) the newest Cyanogen ROM. I'm quite happy with the overall performance of the device.
One problem is still annoying me though: The volume of every type (ringtone, in-call,...) of the headphone jack is much too loud, even on its lowest setting, since I'm using very high efficiency IEM's. The DSP-Manager doesn't appear to work (does not request root access, no change in volume when activated)
I've countered some parts of this issue with the following steps:
-The music volume is lowered by the Poweramp equalizer
-The volume of all custom ringtones, notifications and alarms is lowered by 15dB via Mp3Gain on my rig. This doesn't really help, because now the volume of all custom sounds is too low without the headphones. I barely get up in the morning, but it is definitely better than blowing out my eardrums.
So the question is: How can I activate the DSP-Manager? Or is there another way to solve this?
Thx a lot
EDIT: Solved the problem by increasing the overall volume steps to 45 via modification of the necessary .jar file via this great guide (http://chrisdube.com/increase-number-of-volume-steps-in-android/). DSP-MAnager works, but only with media volume.
Hi, I am new to this forum. I am playing a sound in my Android app using ToneGenerator like below:
ToneGenerator toneG = new ToneGenerator(AudioManager.STREAM_ALARM, 100);
toneG.startTone(ToneGenerator.TONE_CDMA_ALERT_CALL_GUARD, 200);
But when the app plays the sound the volume is comparatively low. I understand that I have set the maximum volume in code. Also I have set max in volume in phone too. How can I play the sound in app relatively louder so that it is clearly audible to the user?
The notification slider definitely needs fine volume control. By default it only has 7 steps (8 if you include zero) so notifications can still be quite loud and not discreet at all even on step 1.
Apparently with root this is something that can be adjusted?
How can I increase the number of volume levels?
Is it possible to increase the number of steps in the volume control? I'd like a finer grained control over the volume level. I have a Galaxy Nexus. Note: I don't want to boost the volume just cha...

There are a few too many options there to transport them all into a post.
You may also want to search in Magisk, since you need that to override the build.prop in Android 11 anyway.
