Have you tried this?
https://www.t-mobile.com/support/de...pixel-3a/mobile-device-unlock-google-pixel-3a

I have tried that even tried speaking to t mobile directly the consultant told me immediately she cannot assist and when I request the u lock it says unlock failed permanently and temporarily

Sounds to me as though the phone was purchased at through T-Mobile and sold before being paid off. It's pretty much a blacklisted IMEI.

Yeah I think so to so I'm looking for a solution as to remove t mobile from the phone

[Q] 'IMEI Locked' error...what is supposed to be done?

I purchased a AT&T HTC One X Unlocked from a online seller through paypal (from USA). I got the phone along with the unlocked code and I unlocked i succesfully. I stay in India. I was using the phone for past one month and it was working absolutely fine. All of a sudden today I am getting a message "IMEI Locked - Please contact customer support". Although I could make calls and browse internet. But don't know what happens next and till when it works.I am very tensed. I shelled out 400$.
What is supposed to be do to resolve the issue?? Will rooting the phone helps?? or my phone is gonna be an expensive brick?? I didn't update the OS or anything. :crying::crying:
Please reply ASAP. I will be very very thankful.

Get in touch with your carrier and ask them why the imei is locked
Not sure if us carriers share stolen imeis with Indian carriers
sent from my limited edition red Gnex
It's a at&t branded device, so no other carrier will have any information on it.

Do you still have unlock code with you??
Does any sort of OS update happened??
His phone isn't sim locked. It's imei is locked. At&t just started locking them on stolen phones in late July this year.

18th.abn .. thanks.. I thought of sim locked... then I do not think there is a feasible way to recover it.. Is it something like bad ESN for CDMA phones?
---------- Post added at 12:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:24 AM ----------
But I thought at&T can block usage of it only on it;s network

That's my point bro ...he's in India so how can an Indian carrier block his imei ....either his imei is 0 or cloned
sent from my limited edition red Gnex
even if they block this IMEI won't it still work with other gsm companies?
it won't work on at&t no?
It's not like cdma phones were its just on a list, which even then when you flash them to other carriers the imei has to be "repaired"(which means changed). With u.s. gsm I believe the lock is sent to device, and the only way to unlock is by a code given by or sent from the carrier.........I'm researching it but I'm 90% sure that's how they are doing it.......and by op screenshot it supports as it is the same with simlocked phones but different msg....if he slides to unlock it probably goes to a dialled to enter code............would like a confirmation on this from the op if he's still here.......
Either way, he bought on eBay so he is protected and can get a refund, or he stole it and is looking for help and there isn't an answer except call at&t

My money's on it being stolen. Yep, I have no faith in humanity.
With the way AT&T is blacklisting stolen devices, it's pretty much like the cdma list. The imei gets blocked from any gsm.

Can they lock the IMEI if you have an unpaid bill with AT&T, but have SIM-unlocked the phone and have a Straight Talk SIM?
I'd suspect even that they may be carrier partners, have roaming agreements an such in place to reach that far. Idk.

all carriers share stolen IMEI numbers in a global list that is available for all carriers, around the world, to use.
In India, it is mandatory for carriers to honor the global block list because of terrorism concerns.
to the original poster - your phone is marked as stolen. The best way to deal with this is to contact AT&T, show them proof of purchase (Paypal receipt, etc.), show them the original craigslist posting, share identity documents like passport, etc. and request for unblocking. Once they have unblocked, then you will have to do the same with your local (Indian provider).

I was just about to buy an AT&T unlocked HTC one X from ebay for use in India when I came across this post. Should I be worried? :silly:
Well, I would recommend that you ask him for photographic proof that phone is functioning fine with a simple card.
I also found this link that talks about being able to verify stolen imei in India http://imei-number.com/imei-validation-check/ not sure if it works.
Or you could go my way and buy from XDA. I heard that Swappa is also reputable - but not as much as XDA.

Sorry for that. If your on stock, tell HTC about the problem and sent it to them for replacement. But it'll take really long. So if you don't have a replacement to use while the phone is being fix, that would suck.

SIM Unlock for S7 bought in Samsung.com?

Hello,
I bought a T-Mobile Galaxy S7 on samsung.com and i haven't been able to SIM unlock it.
After many calls and chats, T-Mobile support told me this: "... because the device was purchased directly from the manufacturer our system doesn't recognize the device as being a T-Mobile device. Even though it is a T-Mobile model and has T-Mobile software, a T-Mobile device is considered to be one bought or sold by T-Mobile directly. We have a database of the IMEI's of the devices we carry and sell, and this lets us unlock eligible devices upon a customer's request."
Samsung support is useless.
I tried a 3rd party unlock service two weeks ago and I'm still waiting. They asked me to please be patient because the T-Mobile server has been down.
T-Mobile unlock app did more damage than good.
I'm also still trying to return the cellphone but Samsung hasn't sent any prepaid labels yet, I've called 3 times on 3 different weeks and they said they're about to send it. , that I should wait a couple of days.
So, in the mean time, is there any other option to unlock this thing? like a brute force unlock.
Thanks.
Let me know if you find an answer. I have an s6 edge that till date after it being active on T-Mobile for over 8 months (Samsung purchase phone - T-Mobile variant) the application from T-Mobile tells me the device is not eligible". Samsung care says they don't unlock that my carrier does lol

Would it be possible to flash the MetroPCS ROM and use a SIM unlock service for MetroPCS? Or do the same with AT&T?
yeah everyone i have tried for unlocking says the service is down...more like the inside person they use is not available...have asked a couple of sites and ebay sellers...same thing...they must all use the same person or exploit.
I was getting the runaround from Samsung to goto T-Mobile and vice versa.. luckily the T-Mobile tech support was helpful and agreed to be on conference with Samsung support and it was a battle with Samsung to get some responsible answer as they kept saying that they don't unlock phones. Then when we escalated to the manager, she repeated the same but at the end created a case to service the phone. Once it reached Samsung, they just said updated software and are sending back on same day.. Not sure if it got fixed, will let you know as soon as I get it..

I doubt if updating software can actually sim unlock it. But who knows, perhaps Samsung has a magical software update. Let us know please. If it works we could dump the OS a d reflash other locked units with Odin maybe? Lol

That was a bummer.. the stupid Samsung technical support just reflashed the same software and sent back the phone in a generic box (did not get original box back) .. the same problem still exists.. the device unlock app doesn't work and T-Mobile doesn't have the unlock code for this imei..

What you want to state to them is for them to request a ticket for your Imei to be white listed for the device unlock application. Let them know it is the T-Mobile variant of the phone bought directly from Samsung.com

It was bought directly via samsung.com as a t-mobile variant with t-mobile firmware. That's odd unless if your model was modified at some point? Perhaps lazy t-mobile rep? What I was told is that after 5 days even if bought from Samsung as a t-mobile variant it will lock itself once a sim card is left in it

Oh ok, the rep has not given up and she is still trying everyday for a solution.. my model was never modified, everything stock and used on T-Mobile for 1.5 months.. I wonder how you can be eligible for unlock if you've not used tmo sim for more than 5 days.. Maybe your rep involved some engineer to add the imei through backdoor process? Did you email them proof of purchase?

I've had T-Mobile service for around 2 years almost and I did use the T-Mobile s6 edge for almost 11 months.
I believe what the rep that helped me meant is that when you buy a T-Mobile variant phone from Samsung or any oem that you should run the Device unlock app asap otherwise once you leave a SIM card inserted for 5 days or more it will lock the device to that carrier that the sim belongs to.

I can clarify a bit on this, as I went through the same thing. Tech support even 3 way called Samsung with me, and they were arguing for over an hour until we got fed up.
Basically, the IMEI needs to be added to the T-Mobile database, but because it was never sold by them it errors out. I just got off the phone with Tech Support and sadly, their notes don't go back far enough to tell me exact process, but I was told that the Business Support department was the one that actually solved the issue for me (along with contacting their Samsung Rep). Maybe that will help you guys out, at least as a starting point.
Edit: T-Mobile support just confirmed. Speak to Business Support, they can fix it.
Thanks for the replies.. I wasn't able to check last solution as my rep agreed to replace it with T-Mobile sold device.. so got an s7 edge which is cheaper now than s7

I registered in this forum just to say thanks to you. I wasted more than two weeks speaking to tech support. Their attitude was great but they did nothing effective. I read your post and spoke to business support, the unlock issue got resolved quickly over the weekend.
This really saves my ass because I am going overseas soon. T-mobile really need to have better communication between different departments.
A small update for anyone who ends up here via google:
T-Mobile is now aware of the issue, and if you contact them on Twitter (@tmobilehelp), their specialised customer service division, T-Force, can get you unlocked and out the door almost immediately. The process takes a few days, but they know the steps to take to get the ball rolling.
Wow, I can't believe it took 3 months to solve this.
I don't know how much time I lost calling T-Mobile and Samsung. BTW, Samsung support is the worst ever.
Since I heard the about the unlock problem, I started trying to return my phone in parallel while trying to unlock it. Samsung people didn't want to provide prepaid shipping labels, first I never got them after I was told to wait a couple of days. I called many times and got the same response. Then the 30 days passed and they started saying it was to late to return, that I had to pay restocking fee. It took me another month explaining it was their fault the 30 days passed and that I needed prepaid shipping label and a full refund. I received the shipping labels the 2nd week on May and returned the phone. I still haven't received my refund. I called today, and the representative told me the refund was posted just today, and told me to wait 3 to 5 business days.
I'm happy some of you were able to unlock it. I got tired of waiting and talking with the support guys. And I don't even have a T-Mobile line. That's why I wanted to unlock it in the first place.
The easiest way to unlock this is changing the IMEI number, i recently paid $80 to get it changed but it now shows up as unlocked & clean on the T-MOBILE network. Sorry i didn't read this post before maybe this information could have helped.

Please help me unlock my Blacklisted EE Pixel

Hello,
Recently bought an EE Pixel off eBay, was told it would just need to be unlocked. Attempted to unlock it at a local (Canadian) business, no can do. Bought an ee unlock code from eBay, seller refunded it because phone is coming up as blacklisted.
What are my options? Is this just an expensive paperweight? My Samsung S7 Edge is beginning to give out and I would like to switch to this Pixel ASAP.
Using 7.1.2, bootloader is locked, I haven't done anything with the phone.
Willing to pay for this, please help!
Hello
I am in the same situation. Is there any way it can be fixed? Or there are just bricks ?
Thanks
Normally a blacklisted phone cannot be activated and no matter how hard you try to change it, it will remain blacklisted. A device is normally blacklisted because it was reported lost, stolen, etc. Always verify that the ESN is clean before purchasing a used device. You may be able to get help from eBay if the seller sold a blacklisted device with a deceptive listing...

Sometimes it can be removed from the blacklist but that all depends on the phone, the reason for the blacklist and even still it can be expensive if it is even successful.
Edit: Your best bet is try to get it swapped for a good phone or return it through ebay or using buyer protection.
Look on craigslist or somewhere for techs who unlock, remove blacklist, etc from phones. They will change the emei for you but these people are hard to find nowadays as they don't have much business because everyone is financing.

8T unlocked out of stock – can I get T-mobile version and unlock it? Or another suggestion?

Hi there,
I've read through the various threads but I don't see my basic question answered: if I buy the T-mobile US version 8T (direct from OnePlus) can I make it like the unlocked international version? I have flashed ROMS before, tinkered with modem files, etc. but I don't want to go to far down that rabbit hole. I really just want the unlocked version from OnePlus but they are out of stock. I want to be able to use this phone outside of the US with local carriers, and want 2 sim slots.
I'm in this situation because I just smashed my unlocked international version 7 Pro and have a few months left on Mint Mobile in the US, and would like to continue with them anyway. Alternatively, I could get a refurbished 7 Pro from Amazon for around the same price. Advice?
Many thanks!

Thanks for that tip.
I just noticed an eBay listing that describes the SIM unlock as a very simple process. This seem to contradict what I read in a thread on here about having to be on the T-Mobile network for some length of time, etc.
Here's the listing and they claim you can SIM unlock the T-mobile variant by the simple process quoted below. Is this true?
How to Unlock (Network unlock) this Mobile:
· Connect you phone to WIFI
· Go to Settings
· Go to WIFI & Network
· Go to SIM & Network Setting
· Go to Network Unlock.
· Click and then go to Permanent Unlock.
· It will take some time and will give you confirmation message.
· Sometimes Unlocking Server is Busy or there is some connection problem, then try again.
· It will give you confirmation message once Unlocking is done.
· Restart the devise

Yes, that's what I want to know too! The process says, "connect to wi-fi"... so... maybe??
When I called oneplus support they told me it need to be used with t-mobile line at least 40 days than can unlock. But not sure if they are right. We need someone who is in US and can get it and test at least if it will not work can return back.
You could try contacting fcc since you would buy the phone out right and not owe on it I had to do that for my n10 I was supposed to have phone on service for 6 months I think but got it unlocked within a week from when I contacted fcc
But from another side we pay full price in oneplus store so T-mobile should unlock it right away. Because this is not contract phone with payments.
I purchased a T-Mobile 8T from OnePlus and it arrived about a week ago. I used the phone for a few days while I attempted to get T-Mobile to unlock the device. I went through 3 call center reps and one in-store rep, and all of them said that because I purchased the device from OnePlus and not from T-Mobile directly, that they do not have any record of the IMEI being in their system and that there is nothing they can do to unlock it. They told me to contact OnePlus to get it unlocked, who then told me that T-Mobile is the only one who can unlock the device and that it will take 45 days before T-Mobile will be able to do so.
Returning the device today. It's a shame, because I really do like the device (despite the fact that the camera is significantly worse than my 3T).

Sorry to hear that. But I'm glad to hear your experience because I was about to buy directly from OnePlus since I have a $30 off coupon, which brings the price down to $320 at the moment.
The eBay vendor insists that their process works and will accept a return if not... I wonder if there's any reason that a phone from that vendor would work, but a phone from OnePlus directly would not...?

If the eBay vendor has opened and activated the device with a T-Mobile SIM card for >40 days, it may actually work in that case, I'm not sure. It could also depend on whether the eBay vendor bought the device from T-Mobile rather than OnePlus. But this has been my experience with a brand-new device from OnePlus.

Hmm... that's interesting, what makes you say that?

If the eBay vendor has opened and activated the device with a T-Mobile SIM card for >40 days, it may actually work in that case, I'm not sure. It could also depend on whether the eBay vendor bought the device from T-Mobile rather than OnePlus. But this has been my experience with a brand-new device from OnePlus.

Yes, and thanks for sharing your experience. I don't think the eBay vendor has opened the boxes, but they do say that they acquired the phones directly from T-Mobile.

Judging from my conversations with T-Mobile, this matters, because if they were purchased from T-Mobile then they should have the IMEI in their database.

I assume that from the eBay vendor who says their boxes sealed, so logically they never had T-Mobile card inserted. Also I saw some post in oneplus forum that guy used to have unlocked 8T which worked with other carrier when he inserted T-Mobile card phone get locked to T-Mobile.
Also I saw this thread it is about OP 8 but they have same situation.
