Noob (in Android workings) needs help updating rooted HTC One M8 (Verizon?) 32GB - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hi folks,
I'm a relatively tech-savvy individual of the elder generation. I recently acquired a secondhand HTC One M8 on eBay (well, its one of a number, as gifts) but I'm having trouble with the OTA update from Android 4.4.4 (KitKat?) failing to be updated to 4.21.512.4 via my Virgin Mobile's SIM. To complicate matters, I'm away from home, in Sofia Bulgaria, but I do have a relatively fast Internet connection here and roaming privileges.
When the update is successfully downloaded I get a screen saying:
Install now
Install later
Don't install
If I select Install now, i get the rooted(?) bootloader(?) which announces itself as TeamWin 3.0.0-1 gives me a set of 8 buttons:
Install - Wipe
Backup - Restore
Mount - Settings
Advanced - Reboot
This is unknown to me, but if I just hit the Install button I get failure messages:

Could someone please explain what I need to do to get the update(s) to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow?) to proceed?
Regards
Tim Clarke

OK, I've realised that the Team Win 3.0.0-1 menu is in fact TWRP (DOH!) and have updated that to the latest release and also installed Titanium Backup Pro,so I am all ready to make an update, but the failure message is still the sticking point. How/where do I get/put this signature (file?)?

[Q] SGH-i896 bricked?

Hey everyone, today I tried to revert to my original stock rogers firmware via the clockwork recovery backup I made. After booting, it gets passed the i896 page and continues until it says ANDROID in a graphic image. This flashes every once in awhile. But after an hour of just leaving it, it's still in the same cycle. I can boot into recovery but when I try to install a new rom it says:
"E: Can't mount /dev/block/st19
(No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SYSTEM:
E: Failure at line 2:
copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
Installation aborted"
If I go into the Mounts and Storage Menu it shows that /system isn't mounted and the same error occurs if I try to mount it. If I try to do a restore from either of my clockwork backups it says the MD5 sums don't match.
As I'm fairly knew to android I'm apprehensive to go any further because I think I'll probably make it worse. I'm thinking I'll use Odin, if there aren't any other suggestions, I've just never used it before and don't have windows installed at the moment.
What do you guys think is the best course of action?
Thanks for your help.
Get yourself into download mode and flash to stock using Odin. Then root and install the rom of your choosing (I recomend Assonance)

M8 stuck at Blue Android after update to CM14

Hi everyone!
I'm having a problem with my HTC One M8 after updating to cm-14.1-20161130-NIGHTLY-m8.zip. I was waiting for an appointment and playing with my phone when I noticed that an update was available. I really wasn't paying full attention, (e.i I got stupid!), and I applied the update via TWRP. When I installed the update, I got the following error, but it didn't notice it at that time:
##

When I rebooted the phone, I was stuck at the blue android. I was able to reboot into developers mode and try to reflash which is when I saw the error warning. I powered off the phone and rebooted again and the phone booted, but it is not detecting the SIM chip or seeing wifi. Many apps are not working and error messages about apps not starting keep popping up, (com.android.phone has stopped, Google Play services keeps stopping, etc.). Some widgets are working, (Bob Clock 3D), but others like Beautiful Weather are not.
I tried to reflash with the previous rom, cm-13.020161010-NIGHTLY-m8, but that one, as well as cm-13.020160301-NIGHTLY-m8, but they just remain at the blue android. I then downloaded cm-14.1-20161201-NIGHTLY-m8 and tried to install that, but I got the same error. I also tried to reinstall Open GApps, both open_gapps-arm-6.0-mini-20160301 for cm-13 and open_gapps-arm-7.1-mini-20161201 for cm-14 with no results. I have also tried wiping the cache and the dalvik.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can try next?
Thanks
zog

Am I doomed? What does '32k crc checked failure' mean?

I happened to get Mate 8 two days ago, and it turned out that it was a Chinese version.
- The phone version is: NXT-TL00C01B596
- Android version was 7(and some decimals, maybe.),
- EMUI version was 5.0.1 or something if I remember correctly.
I wanted to flash an international stock rom, so started with this thread.
- I got the bootloader unlocked,
- installed TWRP following this instruction,
and downloaded some roms from here,
(I downloaded roms starting with 'NXT-L09' since I read they're international version).
I went to TWRP, and wiped and formatted (without a backup, idiot!), and tried to flash the downloaded update.zip file, and got the following message:
Installing zip file '/external_sd/update (1).zip'
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found

I know not much, but I guess the error started at where it says '32k crc checked failure'.
I searched for what it means and what'd be the solution for it, but it seemed there aren't much information about it.
Then I decided to roll back to original rom to make it work again, so found a rom from 'firmware finder for Huawei' app.
And when I tried to flash it on TWRP, I got this error message:
Installing zip file '/external_sd/update.zip'
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Warning: No file_contexts
mountencrypt: failed to mount /data: Success

I tried dload method with the original rom for my device(NXT-TL00C01B596), and it gives me an error message "Software install failed" almost instantly.
(i see 5% progress for a moment)
I still have an access to eRecovery, so tried it, and it also got me an instant error message "Download package failed" at 0%.
And I also still have an access to fastboot.
Now I'm so confused in which step I made a mistake.
Did I install a wrong version of TWRP? Or should I not have attempted to flash the roms from different version?
I tried to figure it out by myself by searching, but am getting more confused.
Could anyone help me out from this issue?:crying:

Hi
Try install a Chinese old nougat rom like b562 with twrp.

HTC U11 can't apply OTA (stuck on 2.42.400.2)

Hello everyone,
First of all thanks for being such a great community. I've been a silent reader for a while (since the HTC M7) and am amazed by the community
Now, I can't cope with being stuck on this issue anymore so I turn to you for ideas.
The situation:
I have a dual sim 128gb HTC U11 (I got it in Hong Kong but I assume it's the India version as per the build numbers I've been through and the CID is 060)
S-ON
Bootloader Unlocked
Stock 2.42.400.2 Firmware
TWRP Recovery
Magisk root
So a fairly simple setup.
The issue: We're in 2020 and I'm on Android 8.0.0. Checking for updates doesn't show anything at all although there are already updates
2.42.400.2 -> 2.42.400.6
2.42.400.6 -> 2.42.400.7
2.42.400.7 -> 3.35.400.1 (this is my goal, at least be on Android 9
So usually to update or apply an OTA which I would download from androidfilehost or another source here in a topic I would
1. Uninstall root from within the Magisk app
2. Flash stock recovery for my version back on
3. Put the OTA zip file on an microsd card and pop it in
4. update via stock recovery "apply update from sd"
Now that sadly didn't work. I tried adb sideloading the OTA zip file, but came to the same result below: (I had to hand type it off the screen so excuse any typos)
Code:
E:Failed to parse build number in post-build-incremental=1011554.6
E:Failed to parse build number in pre-build-incremental=1011554.2

Target: htc/ocndugl_00400/htc_ocndugl:8.0.0/OPR6.170623.013/1011554.6:user/release-keys
Verifying current system…
E:eek:riginal error message E1000: is set, why set another again?
E1000: system partition has unexpected contents
E:Error in /sideload/package.zip (Status 7)
Installation aborted
Any help is appreciated. I tried searching the forums for solutions but couldn't the same case.
Thanks and stay healthy everyone!
