I recently updated to LineageOS 16.0 (first time I've used it), all seems fine except for using MP3 apps. Have tried a few, but they're all inexplicably showing (and playing) certain MP3 files twice. They're only present once in my MP3s folder. Any ideas what's going on here?

Running Cognition 2,2 (ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2) and it works like a champ.
Problem is mp3/wav/m4a playback....
There are no lags or skips or anything, just on certain audio files (all mp3 ripped straight from the CD) they just DO NOT play. They run for the duration of the song, but emit no audio except for a faint 'flash' (like a rush of an audience ovation or wave then dies out quickly).
Trouble shot this by
Running multiple media players (WinAmp, PowerAmp, Meridian, Tunes, Music Player, etc) to the same effect.
I have verified the audio files work. These same files have worked for years on my Sandisk e260, ipod nano, Blackberry, Windows Media player, etc.... I verified that the audio files work on my PC (running through WinAmp or Windows Media Player or VLC) before loading on my device.
The minute I play the track on the Captivate, I get the white noise playback, then when I eventually play the exact same file on my PC, it plays back as the 'white noise' heard on the Captivate (like it is erasing the audio once accessed on the Cappy).
Because of an error I was receiving with Meridian "not on SD", I figured that maybe because most of my audio files were on my removable SD card there was an issue there (so I deleted all those files and stock copied all my audio files onto the internal SD / device memory).....no fix.
* all mp3 downloaded from third-party sites like Music Junk work with no problem.
Could there be anything I'm missing to trouble-shoot this?
Appreciate any insight possible

is this new, or ongoing? try flashing to the current cog build, and see what happens then?
As stated above, flash the most current version of cog. Everything works fine for me with cog 3.4 including music.
Sorry if this was maybe supposed to be posted in another forum or thread.
Flashed with ZEUS 6, I went to listen to some songs of mine, and all the songs were blank: the song and album titles weren't there. When I pressed one of the blank songs, I got: "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file," but the player showed the name of the song. I scrolled down and saw only three playable songs with the titles and album art listed. I went to My Files and was able to play the .mp3's there, though, for some reason. Recorded video just said, "Unsupported file type." I Google'd around as much as I could, but all of the solutions didn't go pass deleting a Twitter app, something I never downloaded or had. I think it might've had something to do with uninstalling BetterBatteryStats, but I'm unsure. I'm not sure if it's something I did or the ROM, which has been pretty buggy ever since I flashed it. I rebooted the phone already, a bunch of times, and it seems like the only option I have is to flash back to stock, unless there's another solution. This started happening today.
Extra details:
All the songs are on an external SD card.
iTag and Google music also only listed those 3 songs, but PowerAmp was able to list and play them fine (I downloaded it to see if it wouldn't play those songs).
Unable to record or play recorded videos.
EDIT: I fixed the music problem. As it turns out there was something called a .nomedia file on my SD card. I deleted it, but I still can't record or play recorded videos.
Hello,
After testing a couple of roms I noticed that there is something wrong in the ringtone menu (in sound settings). Each ringtone is listed about 4 times. Two out of four are working, the other two do not.
The second problem concerns the music on my external sd card. I have got about 1.000 music tracks on my ext sd card. My music player (Poweramp) is telling me that there are about 2.000 tracks, while Shuttle player shows over 10.000 and Google Music shows something like 4.000. I checked the library settings in each player, so there are no other files, but the music of the music folder. Not all of them but a lot of the music titles and albums are shown two or three times.
Reinstallation and a full library scan by Poweramp doesn't do anything.
I am using Resurrection Remix v5.3.8, Android 5.0.2.
I'm pretty sure you guys know how to solve this. Many thanks in advance!
Hello I am new here. I have the 5.5" Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 Unlocked. i am running the most recent version for this phone. I have noticed that there is a playback issue on Google Play Music. Every once in a while it will 'stutter' the music. for example if i am playing a song it will randomly pause and play inconsistently for like a 1/2 a second. I have noticed this only on songs I have uploaded to my Play library from my computer. It does not matter if the song is streaming or downloaded, happens all the time. This does not happen when I am listening to music 'added to my library' from the Play selection. I have not noticed this with the stock music player because I don't use it.
I have also played with developer options but to no avail. I have tried changing the media player from "NuPlayer" to "awesome player" and no change. (However I did notice it made web videos play MUCH BETTER). I also changed logger buffer sizes to the biggest size; 16M per log buffer, I also changed it to the smallest size. No success.
Any solutions?
Thanks is advance.
Known issue with stock. Some people got around it (myself included) by putting downloaded music on internal memory and that stopped it, though never once did streaming music ever skip for me. That being said, there is no reason not to use Cyanogenmod at this point, especially over stock. Those issues do not exist there. Alcatel's stock ROM is pretty god awful, in my opinion.
Hi, i've stucked in a problem with my music library in MOTO G4 with Android Nougat.
Many apps (i've tried phonograph, play music, minima player and others) can't read correctly the metadata of my files. It happens with mp3 and m4a, so i don't think it's a format problem.
Only Poweramp can read correctly the tags, but i don't want to use it because its ui is very old and not so nice.
The misterious part is that up to a month ago the files were read correctly, and it's very annoying.
I've already tried to change sdcard, many apps like id3fixer but that doesn't work...Someone can help me?
