Sad to break it to you but these petition doesn't accomplish anything. Instead you got bombarded by change.org email.

It'm not mine! And there is the same petition for A2 Lite that has some results...

Mi A2 always had confirmed android 10 because of the obligatory 2 year support for Android One.
Mi A1 is already past that time so now it will only receive security updates, same will happen next year with Mi A2 and android 11

It never happens as mia1 had pass 2 year support

Looks like Android Pie is coming

All 3 G6 models are getting Android 9.0 Pie pretty soon. How long do you think this will take? Our phones do support Project Treble, after all.

The blog post says updates will start this fall, but nothing specific. With enough hope, we may get it before 2019.
So, will they skip 8.1 and go directly to 9?

Yep. Actually, I believe that they weren't planning on 8.1 in the first place.
They say it will be soon .. but I do not trust, these from Motorola will update, but surely by 2019 ..

Anti-Rollback introduced on Mi A1! (after Pie update)

Title: Xiaomi introduce l’anti-rollback su Xiaomi Mi A1, Mi A2 e Mi A2 Lite
Source: Xiaomitoday
In the article above (in italian) they explain how Xiaomi introduced the Anti-Rollback in the Mi A1 and other phones. They explain how this implementation is the main reason behind many phone bricks after downgrading from 9.0 to 8.1.
If this is true (I have not found other sources to confirm this, although plausible), my suggestion is to wait for a stable/non-buggy version of Pie befor updating.
I hope this could be of any help to someone else!

Well, I've "rolled back"" just fine. AND flashed LineageOS 15.1 once stock Oreo was done. So that info is fake news.

I really hope it is fake news, however it was even posted on the MIUI forum by a super moderator:
Thread title: [News] Rollback Warning for Mi A1 after Upgrading to Android P
and by another moderator on a different thread:
Title: [Others] Rollback Warning for Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite after Upgrading to Android P
This being said, I did not say it was certain, but it is better to take some precautions rather than just flash the first beta that pops out, before deciding to go back due to bugs.

Unfortunately some "other" sites seem to revel in posting scare stories to enhance their Google SEO rankings. It drives traffic and makes them money...
It's always better if someone posts "news" that they have experienced themselves, of course.
But in the case of the Mi A1 at least, going from the December Pie update (which isn't that great IMHO) to the Oreo November build is fairly painless and completely successful.

Mi A1 to receive android Q

The author of this article sounds very hopeful and optimistic that the mi A1 to get android Q. Let's just hope it's true, and not buggy as P.

Did you read the article?
Xiaomi also has several more modestly-priced phones on the Android One programme, which guarantees long-term security updates and* software support for all its devices.
Currently that list includes the Xiaomi Mi A3, the Xiaomi Mi A2, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite, and the Xiaomi Mi A1. The first three are guaranteed the update, while the latter device (which was launched on Nougat) may have reached the end of its cycle with the upgrade to Pie.

Yeah, but the way they written it makes it sound like they are optimistic that it will get it. The author could just be hopeful though. XD
Same speculations as in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/help/mi-a1-android-q-10-t3937773.

Article is clearly saying that Mi A3, Mi A2 and Mi A2 lite will get it...
...but Mi A1 has finished its travel when it got Pie, so, no lights for Android 10 in Mi A1 by Xiaomi's hands.

Android 10 update

I was wondering when we will get the Android 10 update
Wondering the same .....
Probably not for a while, since I am not aware of any rumors of betas, even closed ones.
No respectable company should be pushing out a new product with a two year old OS, but here we are...
I like MIUI though, very Apple-like and the Mi Note is the first Android I am using without a third party launcher.
The update is on the way in February. (CC9 Pro China Developer ROM)

Hope you are right....
its release in china as beta maybe after one month or less
Most likely delayed because of coronavirus....
Got security update yesterday and miui 11.0.8.0 but still no Android 10....
Xiaomi is a joke. Second update in a row just for the security update. They will lose a lot of customers if they continue like this

Nope.
It will come when it's ready.
There are other brands out there so just buy something else.
Cmon relally? You heard about corona, or? There was not really a lot time this year for developing new roms..... BTW Android 10 is currently in Beta available for Note 10....

Well for rooting you will need to unlock bootloader. After that you will need to wait for recovery. Someone will make it sooner or later. Once it is launched in India you will start seeing some progress. I just bought myself yesterday. Tried gcam of mi note 10 pro. It worked except slow motion. Since the hardware is same I guess most of the things will work

Yea I started the unlock process of 7 days the moment i got it... still sometime to go... I will use it as my main phone after unlock since unlocking resets everything... while flashing recovery and magisk should still keep my file.
Err why wait for India? Aint no talented people in the rest of the world?

My last device was Redmi note 8 pro. And for the purpose of development Xiaomi gave mobile units to developers in India. And after few days we started seeing recoveries and roms. So imo we should wait till it get released there or maybe someone else talented enough from other than India will do some miracles.
