using Titanium backup for nova launcher default - Fire HD 8 and HD 10 General

Root is needed for TB
1st thing I did was install nova launcher via play store not toolbox. Then I used the toolbox to remove unwanted Amazon stuff. Then I went to TB and made backups of the apps I wanted to uninstall. Then I uninstalled them using TB uninstall system apps..look at attachment below for list of apps I uninstalled. Once U r done do a reboot of your fire tablet.
Brief video showing what I did

Or, since you're already rooted, flash one of the ROMS and do away with Amazon's OS completely. You'll be glad you did.

Baffled, newb

so i recently used superoneclick to root my phone. The program said my phone is rooted yet when my kernels etc are the same as stock. I have superuser on my phone but how do i change the kernels etc so that i can use non market apps like wireless tether?
Kernels can be changed with new ROMS. Rooting means you get superuser permission on the terminals so things can be changed.
i dont understand what you asking about non market apps? But you can use apps that required root.
Hope i helped.

thanks, sorry let me clarify.
I downloaded wireless tether and titanium backup to remove sprint ID. The issue is when i try to run either, they dont work. Wireless says the kernel is the issue. What else should I do to be able to use these apps?

Try barnacle(it's in the market) for wifi tether and you need to download and install busybox in order to use titanium backup, and be careful what you remove because you could brick your phone...

Thank you for the barnacle thing, i havn't removed anything im having issues using anything that requires root access, just unrooted my phone.
Can anyone give me a step by step to rooting it? I simply want to remove sprint ID and have my phone run faster. Cant think of any apps i would really need.
Download z4root here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=446145&d=1290341328 transfer it to your sdcard and use a file manager to open it(if you don't have one download astro) install and run it, choose permanent root, and let it do it's thing...
did that, still isnt working, thank you though.
it appears anytime i try to run an app it says something along the lines of not having root access, even though it is rooted
Weird. Hmmmm. I meant i dont know much about your phone. I know that when my root got effed, i just did a factory reset and re-rooted and it worked.
Sorry couldnt help
have you tried this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shkOp2Q2AM4 ?

going to try this now, just didnt want to since it seems a bit more complicated and im really weak when it comes to linux
You could try installing Rom Manager from the market. If it works you will be able to flash a custom recovery, backup your device and flash a custom ROM.
Give it a go and let us know if it works.
cool so i followed the video, then it wasnt rooted, so i used z4root apparently it took two things to fully root my phone. Not sure why, some sort of sprint failsafe?
Although i forgot to set a backup to sprint features, so im a bit screwed down the road.
You prolly can find a sprint ROM somewhere. Or you could do a factory reset, not sure of that will bring back the sprint apps. Dont they have the sprint apps on the Android market?

That would be my video. AND no, you are NOT rooted if you flashed that tar. All that tar does, is make your phone STOCK with custom recovery, to ensure a nice clean platform to work with. You would hold down volume down, voice button, and power. let go when you see samsung, and then apply an update.zip for the kernel. i do have a video on how to root the Android 2.2.2 and it's a proper root video. Sorry for the confusion.

you do plan on installing an alternate browser, correct?
yes i got dolphin hd. so i will be fine deleting those apps without the recovery right??
I'm certainly not the final authority on this. But my understanding is that it is better to use Titanium backup to "freeze" the unwanted apps. They then are put somewhere else and can't be seen in the app drawer.Out of site out of mind
If you freeze unwanted apps, you can always "thaw" them
if you find that you deleted the wrong thing or if you need the apps back to unroot the phone and return it.

Yeah, you'll be fine. But if you do remove something that screws up your system you will have to do a system reset and then start over. Why not install a recovery image via NVflash? It's really easy now that there is a 1-click method. It can also restore the stock recovery if you are worried about having to return your phone. Would make life way easier for you. But I've uninstalled all the t-mobile crap, the stock browser (I use mozilla), launcher2 (I use Launcher Pro), and the LG logmein crap. Phone is running just fine.

I want to keep close to stock as possible.
If I root, use Titanium Backup or Root Uninstaller to remove bloatware and power off G2x, press Vol/Down + Power to do factory reset will that load factory bloatware back on or does that just reset settings to factory?

Odin is only for flashing new firmware, I don't think you can backup your rom by using Odin.
samfirmware/sammobile do not have asia rom. So cannot restore back. If the rom available, no need to backup already. I notice S+ only don't have asia rom.
Stupid phone.

Anyone manage to restore back this rom? What stock version for this rom?
Heya u guys, just found this thread... Im int he same situation right now, just rooted my sgs+ 10 minutes ago now, i would like to remove the stock apps, any advices ?
why need to remove. just use titanum to freeze the app better.
I uninstalled most of the stock apps yesterday...
The following apps however dont appear in "Root Uninstaller":
Places
Navigation
Latitude
Also, i am asking myself how important "Talk" and "Talkback" are for the system... are they relevant for any functionalities ?
*EDIT*
talk and talkback seem to be important for google services so better leave them alone

There is still no answer to this question, and I am + one who would like to know how to backup ROM I get with phone from my provider. Reason is simple, because of warranty, and second reason for me is SWYPE on my language.
Any suggestions ?
EDIT: To answer my self and other wondering. If you want to backup original ROM you get with Galaxy + you need to install CWM recovery following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331164
After that boot to recovery and choose backup and here you go, after couple of minutes you have backed up original ROM.

[Q] Unrooting the Razr HD

Hello everyone,
I rooted my Razr HD a while ago, don't remember why. Anyway, I ended up getting a new phone and switching with a friend. And now I need to unroot it so my Mom can use it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I know there was an automated tool somewhere but I can't locate it.
Btw, it's rooted with Safestrap. I don't know if that changes anything.
I suggest u to use universal unroot utility by MattGroff and u can uninstall safestrap normally

I would uninstall SS prior to un-rooting because you'll still need to get into the app to uninstall the recovery. It might not let you in if you don't have root access.

If you go into the actual SS app on your phone, you can uninstall recovery. Do this, prior to deleting the app. If you delete the app first, you'll never be able to delete the installed SS recovery because you need the app to do it. Uninstall recovery through the app, then delete the app, and then delete all the SS folders and backups on your internal to get you some memory space back. As for the root access thing, I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you'll be able to open the SS app if you don't still have root access. It's a root access app but I'm not sure how that would work.
Well it looks like the phone has been set to factory..I turned it on just now, and I think my mom or dad may have done it. It works fine. But there is no SU or SS apps on the phone, I just checked. But when I boot the phone, I still get the bootloader unlocked message. Which means its something in the SD card correct? Any idea how to clean that up?

If your BL is unlocked, there's no way to relock it. However, I know there are some flashable boot logos running around somewhere in this forum. Just find one and flash it in recovery.

you can go to settings/storage and erase the sd card but that wont get rid of the warning. also, if it was rooted, it still is even though the su app may have been removed.

[Q] Nood Question - Root Explorer + Titanium Backup

Dears,
I'm having a problem in which I don't know how to solve, I tried searching before opening this thread, I found many who have similar problems but I can't do what they do to solve it, I'll explain why.
Problem: I have a ColorOS OnePlus/64GB - the seller had mentioned that he flashed the latest update of CM11 into the phone. I received the phone and it works perfect, can not love it more. However, I noticed that these apps (Root Explorer + Titanium Backup) are installed, I downloaded "Root Checker" to see weather my phone is rooted or not, and it tells me that my phone is NOT rooted. The problem now is how do I uninstall these apps? it seems they are "system apps", so they can not be uninstalled from Settings>Apps.
In all the other threads, topics, the answer would include (a rooted phone) to get rid of these apps, any solution? as I have no clue in Android developing, please bear with me.
Regards,
You cant delete sistem files/apks without root.
You cannot uninstall system apps without root. You will have to unlock your bootloader and then obtain root in order to remove these apps.

Would it be possible to just flash another stock ROM that doesnt come with these apps ?
At the end of day you'll need root. Just remove it using titanium back up, it's easy to do and I doubt there's a stock rom that just removes those apps and that's it. If you're looking for a custom rom, Mahdi is the best in my opinion.

I would love to root and do all these kind of stuff but I have no experience in do so, I'll try following the steps and hopefully don't ruin my phone .. . one final question (would disabling and hiding those two apps affect anything? as long as I don't see them I'm happy)
