Odin is only for flashing new firmware, I don't think you can backup your rom by using Odin.

samfirmware/sammobile do not have asia rom. So cannot restore back. If the rom available, no need to backup already. I notice S+ only don't have asia rom.
Stupid phone.

Anyone manage to restore back this rom? What stock version for this rom?

Heya u guys, just found this thread... Im int he same situation right now, just rooted my sgs+ 10 minutes ago now, i would like to remove the stock apps, any advices ?

why need to remove. just use titanum to freeze the app better.

I uninstalled most of the stock apps yesterday...
The following apps however dont appear in "Root Uninstaller":
Places
Navigation
Latitude
Also, i am asking myself how important "Talk" and "Talkback" are for the system... are they relevant for any functionalities ?
*EDIT*
talk and talkback seem to be important for google services so better leave them alone

There is still no answer to this question, and I am + one who would like to know how to backup ROM I get with phone from my provider. Reason is simple, because of warranty, and second reason for me is SWYPE on my language.
Any suggestions ?
EDIT: To answer my self and other wondering. If you want to backup original ROM you get with Galaxy + you need to install CWM recovery following this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331164
After that boot to recovery and choose backup and here you go, after couple of minutes you have backed up original ROM.

FOUND - Need 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03 India retail firmware

Hi,
I have an Indian Atrix 2. I recently rooted it and un-installed some system applications like Email and Gmail etc. using Titanium Backup without taking a backup. After doing it everything works fine but I am getting force closes every now and then with messaging app.
I am wondering if any Indian users here can post Indian Retail firmware backup so that I can update my phone back to factory state. I tried factory reset but that didn't help either.
Firmware version is 55.1.27.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03, android 2.3.6.
UPDATE: Download "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET_cfc.xml.zip" from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
That's what I was looking for
If you tell me how, I'd be happy to help. I'm not yet rooted though.

How to root 2.3.6 ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Then dowload and install A2 Bootstrap ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346977
Then install CWM ROM Manager ---> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en
Run the bootstrap, reboot into recovery, and make a backup.. The system image will be stored on your sd card.
This is how one would do it with the US version, hope it all works for the Indian version..
Note that this will copy your system and data in it's current state... it won't give you the stock FXZ that you are looking for.. but you might be able to get clever and grab only the stock apps you need and push them to your device..

Just thought of this, not sure if it will work - have someone with an your version of stock rooted A2 make a titanium backup of all the apps and data, then make a CWM backup as briefly described above, and get you a copy the backup file. Then, put it on your sd card in the clockworkmod/backup folder, use Titanium Backup and the "Extract from Nandroid" option. Choose the critical system apps that you need and restore (maybe the apps only, no data).
Actually, maybe you could skip the CWM part entirely and just copy the stock Titanium Backup files into your TB folder on your sd card..
Maybe somebody here knows a bit more about this? And can't you just get Gmail from the Play Store?

Thanks, been a bit busy. This is exactly how it needs to be done. I have mine rooted, so I can use CWM to restore the backup taken this way. I would really appreciate the help.
I flashed all the custom roms but all are AT&T based, have lots of restrictions, like network selection doesn't work, tethering doesn't work, *#*#4636#*#* menu doesn't work.
This could be of help to other people too. If AT&T roms work on mine than I believe there's no difference in hardware on our's or US devices, so US people can flash it too to have a real android device with no restrictions whatsoever. And if a developer can create a custom rom based on this that would be wonderful.

Will appreciate the help if you could do this for me. Its a little complicated process but once you follow the steps it is fairly easy, hardly took me 15 minutes to root. And please backup your apps after rooting with Titanium Backup and then factory reset and take a CWM backup here, that way none of your personal information will be there in backup file.
I know I am asking for something that will take some time.... I am around if you need help with any of the steps, do let me know.

Sorry mate, I didnt find what I was looking for so I gave it to service center. And they are processing a replacement for me. But just now I found this http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Go to your phone's settings, about phone and see if you find below information listed there:
edison_emara-user 2.3.6 5.5.1-EDEM-27 70 release-keys2012-01-20 19:57 Off.Bld LUD_EDISON_R1E_PATCH_23_120120_1943 crh1090280_M570_PC_CARD_RAINB
If I remember our is same version as above. If it is, go to above link and download "5.5.1-EDEM-27-ASIAOPS_cfc.xml.zip" and flash it using RSD Lite. And if you find it risky, just extract system.img from this zip file and go to fastboot mode (vol up+vol down and power on, select AP Fastboot) and in cmd type fastboot flash system system.img and it should flash system image only to your phone.
This should make it work, I wish I had my phone with me. Try if you are comfortable and understand the process well. Good Luck
And if you can, could you please upload a screenshot of Setting - About Phone screen here? So that I can match that information with other versions uploaded on that link, we may find retail Indian firmware, may be...
Ok guys, good news. I had a backup of my phone before giving it to service center. N I confirm that "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET_cfc.xml.zip" file given at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php is the Indian Retail Version everyone is looking for. I just matched the versions with my backup and this is exact same copy we need. So guys flash it without worries...

I am sure you can. Hardware is same. I had Indian version and when I screwed it without taking the backup, I flashed AT&T stock ROM and it worked flawlessly so Indian ROM should work on yours too. Only difference is, Indian ROM is not restrictive like AT&T, its what non carrier branded handset should have, everything works. I would suggest try it. I don't think there will be an issue, and even if you come across any issue, you still have stock AT&T FXZ/SBF to flash... So nothing to loose in my opinion.

I assume you have motorola usb drivers installed, could be found on Motorola support site easily (cant tell you the link now, at work right now).
Then just wait for firmware download to finish. Install RSD Lite and run it. Turn off your phone. Now hold Vol Up+Vol Down together and press power key, you will see 4 options, select AP Fastboot. Now connect your phone to PC using cable. Now the RSD Lite screen should show your device listed in the white blank box. After that click on "..." icon on RSD Lite and select the firmware file you downloaded. After all this, just hit the Start in RSD window and wait patiently for few minutes. Once it is done your phone will restart and boot into your new firmware. That's it... Enjoy
Do let me know if you need any further help. Right now I am planning to go home, will only be able to reply tomorrow morning hopefully.
Sorry, cant mail you right now, no access to personal email sites at work

It didn't work? Hmmm... I don't have my phone to try anything new yet, will get a replacement next week. Anyways, in my other thread here in General Section, xda Dev "cogeary" is working on a custom ROM based on Indian Retail ROM with additional features taken from Chinese ROM, like call recording, spam SMS/Call blocking. So its just few days till we start getting real good ROM's here. So keep visiting here.

Just kidding, will add you, though I hardly use FB, just have it to keep in touch with old friends.

[Q] Is my Android phone dead?-- Help!

I don't want to make a really long post so I'll get straight to the point:
I own a rooted ALCATEL OT-991d. So today I was scrolling through App Manager when I saw Google Services Framework. So the thing is, after the root, my phone started having errors I didn't have before. My download notifications in the System UI from the Browser and Google Play wont vanish. I'll press clear and after a time it's all going to vanish but after a few minutes or after I open Google Play it just goes back again.
So here's the problem: I thought that Google Services Framework was the culprit (I know that was very stupid of me. Now I know what it is for) so I deleted it. Actually I hesitated and cancelled the operation but it was too late. So I tried looking the solution up, but to no avail. I downloaded 3 types of the said Framework but it wont install. I kept on getting the "Application Not Installed" Error.
So now I did a Factory Reset. So everything worked fine, except for the Setup Wizard. I was able to set the language and such but when I came to the "Set Up Google Account" part, it kept of crashing (because Google Service Framework is already gone) thus a fruitless loop. Now I can't even use my phone at all 'cause I can't bypass the freaking Setup Wizard.
Any tips? I can't buy a new phone at the moment so I'm at my wits end here.
I'm sorry for the long post and if I violated anything, it's because I'm quite new here.
My phone is on Android 2.3.6. I didn't have a chance to check the baseband etc. 'cause I never knew this would happen. But if you guys need it I can check my sister's device since we have the same phone. Thanks!
Update
Okay I found a solution..
I want to install a new ROM but I don't know how. I downloaded something like an Android 2.3.6 ROM and when I try to install it it says the signing failed blah blah. Help? Do I have to wipe the phone of its stock ROM?
Can anyone provide me with a working ROM for Alcatel OT-991d? Stock ROM's fine.
Thanks!

When it says zip verification failed its because you need to install a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or TWRP in order to flash custom ROMs
And Mate, Always do some searching before asking a question! There's already a guide on xda-developers teaching how to flash the stock ROM on Alcatel OT-991d
Anyway, I hope your phone works! Good luck

[Q] i9505 restore bloatware for OTA lollipop 5.0

Hi, this is my first actual post. I have searched and can't see this query anywhere else.
Ok I'll try to make this as clear as possible, I have read Lollipop 5.0 has been released in the UK for the i9505 and I want to update OTA (which would be when xPosed framework is compatible) but I have a couple problems. I am rooted and I find out now that you can't do OTA if you have previously deleted the bloatware that came with the phone which I have done. Process I have come up with:
1) Use Titanium Backup to backup ALL apps to SD
2) Restore the bloatware by flashing stock Android 4.2.2 firmware to go back to original (can't remember my deleted apps and factory reset won't restore them)
3) Carry out OTA (using CF-autoroot or SU survival mode to keep root)
4) Restore Titanium backups from SD
My questions:
1) Is that process correct?
2) Would flashing the stock rom get rid of my Custom Recovery? Or anything on my external SD?
3) Do I need to unlock bootloader? How do I know if mine is already unlocked or not?
4) Possibly any way to keep my apps layout on homepage?
Extra info: I don't want to get CM, since I had CM11 and didn't like it, prefer the stock touchwiz and custom ROMs have too many bugs.
Would really appreciate any direction on this issue.
Phone info:
Model: Samsung Galaxy S4
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9505XXUBMGA
Anyone? :good:
Here is the way
1. Backup using helium app
2. Unroot using SuperSU app (in the setting there is a option)
3. Download stock ROM from sammoble (choose the proper one)
4. Flash it using odin (u need to have stock recovery & bootloader status dosenr matter until u r stock)
5. Before flashing do a hard reset.just to be safe
6. Restore ur app d data using helium(this time u will need a pc)
7. Check for update from settings.
8. & to save ur launcher (touchwiz) there is option in helium
The reason why I don't suggest to keep root cuz at the moment lollipop will run into issues if rooted..later on after u r done with updating u can try rooting.make sure to backup SD just in case something goes wrong
WARNING I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG CUZ ITS U WHO IS DOING NOT ME....well it won't go wrong is u do properly..

Thanks for the reply. Checked out helium app on google play and around the internet, many people are having issues with restoring backups, I'll give it a try while I have a nandroid backup just to see how it works.
Sorry I didn't understand what you meant in the brackets for number 4, can you please elaborate?
Lollipop needs to fix itself! Root is most important for me, I'll update when Xposed is compatible on Lollipop hopefully the root issue will be fixed by then.
It dosent matter what is ur boot loader status, locked or unlocked...if u r flashing a official ROM boot loader status dosent matter.d for flashing a stock rom u need a stock recovery....d for helium if restoring dosent work I move the files manually
Good luck in future

Hmm since I'll wait until root works I think I might just Titanium Backup since I have the Pro version, might as well use it You say I need a stock recovery, would that appear automatically when flashing the stock rom and get rid of my CWM recovery or is there a certain process to be done in order to get that recovery? (I think it's the former option but just checking Thanksss

It's been around 2 weeks since i first started using a custom rom. It's worth to check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557353
It's running stable and with good battery life.
Give it a try

Please, follow the instructions in this thread:

I can download the latest official firmware at sammobile.com, look for firmwares, and search your device specific rom/carrier.
Good luck! :fingers-crossed:
Just checked in YouTube the difference between the Google edition and original and the original is much better in my opinion. The main thing is I don't want to lose all the camera features it comes with. And I can't seem to find stock lollipop for the original S4 on Sammobile, have to navigate with my phone since laptop is bust. I'll give it a quick look again.

Odin Updates after TWRP.

Hey Guys,
So, I've got an A8 2018 (jackpotlte) and currently have it rooted and TWRP installed.
I'd like to update the firmware using Odin to the latest version, but I don't want to lose my app setups etc. The firmware I want to flash is from the same CSC (EVR) that I have currently.
I've got a full TWRP backup incase anything goes wrong, and all data such as photos is backed up separately as well.
My question is, what do I need to do to get this update installed without losing my settings etc?
Will I need to reflash TWRP to the recovery after the update? And if so, I'm assuming I'll have to re-apply the no-verity and opt-encrypt patches?
Thanks for your help!
Last paragraph is correct.

Yes
You can try backing up apps and settings in Samsung Cloud.
Also, this app here may work for you. It keeps all your settings intact. Not sure how it'll work after an update, but I've used it while switching ROMS and if anything, it'll save you loads of time on your downloads after updating.

IF YOU FLASH STOCK FIRMWARE, YOU WILL LOSE ROOT. wITH THE NEWER FIRMWARE, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE THAT SPECIFIC VERSION OF THE FIRMWARES ROOT METHOD. yOU WILL HAVE TO FLASH THE csc TO DO WHAT YOURE WANTING TO DO, WHICH WILL FACTORY RESET.
Crap, all in caps. Im not gonna retype it, just know i wasnt yelling lol
there are app backup apps you can get like titanium backup that will restore most of your stuff including personalization.

I seriously thought you were angry. I was waiting for the part that... never came.
I re-tried the migrate app (also in zee store).
It's better than i remembered.
BUT IF YOU READ THE PREVIOUS POST, IT IS ALSO CORRECT. THERE. THAT SHOULD GIVE YOU PLENTY OF OPTIONS. (Couldn't help it).

well, just so ya know, i had something funny as a response here and it was in all caps. Well, xda un-capped the whole thing except for the beginning of sentences and so forth where it would have been correct to do so. I was just gonna go back and correct it, but i found this explanation to be even funnier than the original post, so here we are LOLOL!!!
