I started to get the problem after upgraded to Android 10. It isn't random, it is related to signal strength. I use Network Signal App to monitor the signal strength. I noticed if the signal strength is over 52%, signal bar disappeared and once the signal strength dropped below 52%, it reappeared.

I live in an area where my 3G signal strength is often 1 bar or below and is weak but my non 3G signal strength is 4 bars and strong.
Is there an app that I can use to set up when 3G cuts out and reverts to normal GSM signal.. I know I can set 3G to auto switch but it only cuts in when it feels like and often this means my phone is limbo with no 3G signal and no auto option to switch over to GSM and will often just drop my signal mid call at home.. or am I asking too much.. cheers..
When your 3G signal becomes weak it should automatically switch to GSM. If switching between the two is causing your phone to drop calls you can lock your phone to GSM only by changing it via the Comm Manager, tap on "change phone settings" and then "Band" on the bottom.
ok. cheers..
I have an interesting problem : On my XT925 ( XenonHD rom), I have no signal bar at all while connected to a 4G network(0 db). I can still make call and the signal bar actually appears when I call, but as soon as I hang up the bars go back to 0. While I switch to a 3G or H+ network, I can see my signal bar.
I have no 4G connection problem, data works fine.
I guess its no really a problem... I just wish I could see my signal strength in 4G.
Anyone as ever came across something like that ?

I read that in the change logs of a few ROMs that the 4G signal strength display is a little wonky. If you needed to see the actual signal strength you could you into Settings -> About Phone -> Status. Alternatively, you could change the status bar setting to show numerical signal strength at all times instead of bars.
no luck...

Not working....when I switch to numerical display for the signal strength I get 0 dBm. As soon as I call out or receive a call it goes to -90dBm, stays up for 30 sec. and then goes back to 0.....
On a different note, the satus says that Im connected to LTE while the bar indicator read 4G.

Having the same issue with 4.2/4.3 roms. Thought it might have to do with network. Tried a few different settings, but no fix yet, and I'm not sure all calls come through. Data connection is no problem though. 4G /LTE are inter-changeable. Hopefully there's a fix it somewhere.
Hi there,
I have updated my phone through "Wireless Update" found in the System menu and since it's been updated I have either low signal or no signal at all (depending on location). For example, at my workplace there isn't much signal strength by originally but my phone was available at 3/5 signal strength marks. Now I have Zero marks and no network, nobody can call me all day long. At home, the signal strength was 5/5 before now it's 4/5 constantly but if someone calls me it drops to 1/5 or 2/5 immediately.
My phone is a THL4000 with KitKat 4.4.2, MTK6582KK
Would you please help me how can I solve this problem?
Today I found out it's a phone issue and not the carrier.
I tried to switch my SIM with my colleagues' phones and my sim worked just fine, while I tried their SIM in my phone too and still no signal even with another carrier. I also contacted to my carrier and they made zero change to the signal strength or anything else in my area.
I also did a Factory Reset to my phone from the system menu. I'm not sure it reverts the recent system update that may cause this issue, but nothing has changed - again. No signal at all at my office. It worked just fine until last week and I made zero damage/fall/etc, only a system update.
So please, does any of you have idea what causes this or how on Earth can I fix this?
Thank you.
Hi
My office has bad signal and as a result my signal drops out quite often. When I put it on 2g the signal is a lot more stable. The issue is that I have to manually change it which is annoying. Is it possible to adjust the threshold that the phone drops to 2g when there is one bar instead of there is no signal at all?
I have an app called widgetsoid and I use the data widget to change to 2g manually when I have wifi as calls are much clearer on 2g.
I change it to 4g only when I need data.
Hello! I'm in search of a signal manipulation app, if one even exists.
Why? I don't have a sim card in my phone, so I'd like to have the signal bars show me a "placebo" cellular signal strength. Is this possible to do without masking the icon?
I know that phones that have the status-bar demo mode shows the cellular signal as full/or sometimes empty, so is it possible to have an app control what signal icon is shown on it's own, so that I don't have to see the "No SIM" icon or an empty signal?
(NOTE: I have disabled the "No SIM" icon under System UI Tuner, but it doesn't feel right without cellular signal bars being there.)
