Why are my Chrome Incognito tabs closing down after a few hours??
I'm not even closing the Chrome app down so I expect all my sessions to stay in memory and I can continue where I left off. I just go back to the home screen to open some other apps such as Mail and Messages.
I don't think this is be design because Safari on my iPhone keeps ALL my tabs in memory if I've not closed down the app itself.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Is this an Android thing or another bug with One UI?

The phone I've got the issue with is the Galaxy S10e running One UI 2.
Sent from my SM-G970F using Tapatalk
I've narrowed this issue down to Chrome! That's where the issue lies!
I opened the same Incognito tabs on both browsers and left them for a few hours and noticed Chrome had killed the tabs whereas Firefox still remembered them!
God knows when Google are likely to fix something like this so I may just use Firefox for Incognito browsing and Chrome for normal browsing as annoying as that sounds. I still have all my bookmarks synced on Chrome.

Try kiwi, it is pretty much identical to chrome but with better performance and lack of issues such as this (much lighter on resources as well)
Noticed that even Firefox has the same issue after a while! This seems to be a memory management issue with the OS.
Not quite sure what all the RAM is doing on this phone!

Might have something to do with your power settings.

I don't think so because my phone isn't in any low power mode. Also surely this shouldn't affect keeping things in memory.
My iPhone will keep things in memory regardless of which mode I'm in.

Anyone running this browser? I like it its got some weird graphics issue sometimes tho . Anyone else that's running it experience this as well?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
Same here.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
I was running it for a few days, but I had to stop. The graphical issues and general unstability just became too much. It would randomly crash for no reason, and more often than not, it would simply refuse to load a page. It would also frequently take a good 10 or 15 seconds to even start loading a page after hitting a link. Stuff like that.
It sucks, 'cause the browser was really great when it worked, and the extra features like desktop tab sync were really helpful. I just needed a browser that worked reliably.
That's why its BETA. Need I say more?

Installed it here. The stinking browser is the largest application on my phone. Unceremoniously uninstalled.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
when it works right its the best browser .hope it becomes stable soon
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
I use it and don't mind the lil bugs, the sync of the tabs I use a lot. its only got up to go from here so ill stick with it or just the stock ics one, the lil graphic bugs are annoying but go away, doesn't make it unuable imo
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
Drives me nuts when the next page won't open. I keep having to close background browser screen to open a new one. Is there a way to not do this? I really don't care about what i've oppened previously.
Most custom ROMs don't have the 6 tab limit in browser

I've been monitoring my temp on my nexus 5 and notice that chrome browser would heat up about 20 degrees more comparing to Firefox, dolphin and opera. I almost get about the same type of heat while playing a game.
I've tried it with stock, Franco, faux and elementalx kernel. And got similar results.
It does run smooth but I miss my aosp browser with text reflow...

I noticed this too. I see that the CPU runs on max speed when chrome is open.
Yeah Chrome destroys the battery as well. Idk what's up with it. I hope there's a update here soon.

Google needs to restore the old aosp webkit code in 4.4. The new chromium webview is so inefficient. Ditch chrome for android and update the old aosp webview to the latest version of webkit and v8.

Really? Chrome pegs the CPU to max value? If true that is pretty ****ty of Google. It sounds like something an OEM would do to "fix" their weakest point, which for Google is seriously Chrome's lagginess. Sounds like one of those "features" that would get turned off in an update after all of the reviews are in.
Gonna have to test this out.
Good thanks guys, I figured I'll get slam for posting this. But at least now I know I'm not alone. It really feels like with the nexus 5 they are really trying to push Google stuff down our throat.
Just like the YouTube and Google plus integration.

I can confirm that Chrome does not peg the CPU to max value. It certainly seems like it ramps up the CPU higher than is necessary, but its not "cheating" like Samsung does for benchmarks in any way.
The Nexus 5, for me, heats up no matter what I do. 5 minutes of youtube produces noticeable heat, as does facebook and many other apps. Personally, I would suggest you set the max CPU freq lower and see what happens. Personally, I do not mind the heat that much, as it does not seem to detrimentally affect the battery life.
I've been using Firefox and find the phone gets warm and drains the battery fairly quickly. I have it set up to sync, are you using sync options on your chrome?

Somewhat unrelated, but do you have any issues with images displaying on some sites? I see nothing on bing images and ebay mobile, for example.

Why wouldn't they; those are their products? Lol. Do you expect them to release a phone and urge you to use other people's apps, etc.? Just think about it for a minute...

I did think about it for a minute. Nexus 5 without stock Android browser and YouTube integrated with Google plus is kinda like pushing us to use the service they want us to use. Which Google normally don't do. What I like about android was the freedom. I aware this will change with custom roms but its the direction it is going.
And I didn't mention other people app? Not sure if you realized stock android browser and YouTube is own by Google.

Checked Bing images and it's working fine on FF. I should also note that I have an addon to use desktop versions of sites checked by default.

Do you mind checking in mobile version? No images show for me.
On my phone chrome pushes CPU to max value until thermal throttle kicks in.

Chrome is a battery hog, it's very heavy on the system. Dolphin with Jetpack for the win!
How do you enable air view? I can't find it in the settings
They removed it from the S6 as it was not a very popular feature.

really? you could always disable it. I never liked Samsung specific implementations but I use it all the time when I'm browsing the web in full desktop mode. it's really useful for mouse hovers to trigger menus, video previews etc. without it I'd be forced to use the mobile version of web sites all the time which I kinda hate. it makes me feel like I'm using a wap browser in 1999 or an iPhone.
A few days ago I bought an Asus Zenfone 2 for my mum and I realised how smooth chrome is on that phone compared to the S6. Anyone else having this issue where chrome isn't really running at 60fps?
Especially when opening and closing tabs, my S6 just drops frames all the time. I'm on 5.0.2 if it matters.
probably something to do with the extremely poor ram management on the S6, as chrome is known to be a resource hog. Zenfone 2 on the other hand has 4GB of ram.
It's not the high end zenfone, it's the dual core version with only 2gb of ram

Try to enable Developer options and raise to 1.5x or 2x each of the three animation settings.
The length of the animation doesn't help anything. I'll post a slow mo video later. The S6 just drops frames so often.

As you can see, the S6 drops so many frames compared to an entry level phone.
Installing the latest 'Android system web view' made chrome smooth on my phone.
I did. Version 45+ for arm and arm64. Didn't help at all

Ok, today I made a quick browsing session with Chrome, paying attention to smoothness, and can't really say to see something wrong.
I mean, I come from a OnePlus One that was very smooth (custom ROM and kernel) and my S6 is around 99% of that performance.
The heavy debloating I made might help, though.
I also have this lagg in chrome, but i must say its only on resource heavy pages (lots of pictures, adds, banners etc.).
I will reset my device in a few days. Went to the Samsung store and checked out their display units. Some seem to suffer from it while others don't. My phone is also pretty bloat free, only about 3 pages of apps.

Already on it.
Hmmm....
Try to turn Javascript off from settings. It will make Chrome more smooth.
Yes that actually helps dramatically but it breaks web pages

Already have that. Helps a little but still consistently dropping frames. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Edit: Just realised the video I linked was set to private. Changed it to public

If you have couple of web pages that need Javascript you can add them to exceptions in settings. But if you visit mainly those pages that necessarily need javascript then this solution is not good.
