I'll start off
Android 10 oos
Swift installer, swaps themes for desired apps(dark mode for apps), paid
MacroDroid, automated Android-- (does automated functions-move files to "correct folders", free versions allows 6 modules with nearly unlimited functions.
Gravity box for Android 10, allows modifications to the system, free
Microsoft authentication, authentication app for 2 step login, free
Xda labs, obvious but for xda forms, free
Mixplorer - file explorer that has a great ui (I use black/blue theme)
EdXposed, allows tweaks and more, free (removed due to lagged device. Running magisk to run riru, to run edexposed kinda sucks.)
Apps that don't work as intended
Titanium Backup (delete system apps, freeze apps, backup phone info and apps) doesn't delete system apps due to OnePlus file structure.
Swipeback2 (swipe from the edge to go back) caused black screen issues
Edits: added more apps and info

Titanium had a good run, but it's time for a new king. Swift's UI is more user friendly too.

I use volume slider. The paid version had more options, but it allows you to adjust brightness, call volume, media volume and a few others just by swiping up and down on your designated sides.
For me, Tasker is King and an absolute must have for me on all my devices.
Then there's the following:
Afwall+
Bromite
Solid Explorer
Swift backup
Fdroid
Aegis (2fa)
Viper4android
Markor
Nzb360
FolderSync is used to backup the native call recorder.
Plus Beat is used to overcome the AOD Lack. (OPAODmod block chrome, and other AOD apps are heavy battery consumers, or disabling face recognition unlock).
Edxposed modules:
- Xposed edge
- gravity box
- Xprivacy lua

I've used titanium for years but haven't recently. I remember when restoring backups after changing roms, the notifications of the apps restored were broken. Does that happen with swift?

So far it hasn't failed on me, but I don't want to sound like a shill. there's a chance it won't work in every situation, but it usually installs the apps with no fuss and proper permissions.

Do you require premium swift for back up?
Was using titanium but not working on op7. All I have is Google back up
Like to have a full backup in case phone collapses if installing anything

Try migrate from playstore which is free. Don't have many features but work fine for backup and restore only.
Awesome thanks might give it a try for a clean install. Do you only back up user apps and not system apps right?

Its only works best when you flash new ROMs. For individual apps and other functionality swift is the choice.

Can Swift backup be used without requiring root? At least to backup just the apks to the cloud and possibly allowed transfer of apps between devices.

No you can backup apps but it will be one at a time (the apps circle on top)
Have yet to backup apps due to issues that use to occur when using titanium Backup.
Seems it's just missing contacts backup
titanium backup is the number one on my list, without this app, my android experience would be miserable.
swype keyboard (so sad it's dead project, but still works better than any other keyboard, as well as it had the highest amount of features)
swift backup is total waste, hate that garbage.
Google backup is a real trash, so glad that we can turn this waste off.

Hi, I'm sorry if this question has been asked, I would like to start switching ROMs to test different ones, and I've been using Titanium Backup to backup all my data. I know that I should only restore back the user data and never system data when switching ROM's however I hate having to setup my widgets and homescreen layout everytime I switch ROMs. Is it safe to restore the backup of the Launcher even though it is in red text under Titanium Backup? I've read that it is okay to restore system data for the ones with yellow text but if its green or red it shouldn't be restored.
Is there any alternative of being able to switch between ROMs without having to setup your home screen icons everytime? Thanks.

If you're moving between Stock ROMs or Between AOSP ROMs with the same launcher, it shouldn't be an issue.

I'm not sure about the latter. Just restore data (not app) for launcher so do it separately. However, titanium is never great at restoring laucnhers anyway

Not really I am afraid. I use Nova. Titanium restores the widgets as "place holders" and nova allows me to "tap to restore widget" but even then, I have to add a bit of configuration to each. I've never found a perfect solution and as a result, have much less complicated homescreens nowadays.
Can we start a best apps for root thread?
I have to say I think AirAudio is one of the best apps to take advantage of root imo.
My top root apps (in no particular order) are:
Titanium Backup
Root Explorer
Greenify (donation package)
Xposed Installer
Various Xposed modules
Wanam Xposed
Safestrap
There is so many apps bro. Good idea by the way. It'll help so many people to pick apps that might be helpful and they don't know about them. For me I like what @Face_Plant mentioned plus font installer ☆root☆.
I'll post more if I run into some new ones.

I thought about asking this... its been since my captivate since I had root on my cell. I used international, Europe and Orange OS on my Xperia T so it was tolerable. So far my tablet has xposed on it but I havent had time to mess with it.
Def using:

Those are the only two programs I have ever used on my phone and bought premium instantly.
SOLID explorer is just a nice file explorer to use even without root. Either use it double screen mode or just flipping from folder to folder by swiping.

I Greenify all of my downloaded apps plus a few system apps like the calculator, calendar, some of the S Pen stuff, etc. If you do decide to Greenify system apps, make sure you are 100% sure of what it is and what it does. Also, if you value Action Memo, don't Greenify it. It took me almost 3 days to figure out why Action Memo wasn't working when I tried to launch it from Air Command and it was because I Greenified it...
The donation package has a feature where GCM push notifications will wake up hibernated apps like Facebook, Tapatalk, Gmail, etc and will allow hibernated weather apps to auto update at their regular intervals. This makes the paid version worth it for me. It is a bit buggy though and doesn't always work.

Not retrospectively! If you didn't back up your settings before wiping then there is nothing you can do now!
As for future backups, you can only do this through third-party apps at the moment. Something like Helium or TB, but most backup apps require Root as well
As far as I know you can't backup your homescreens, only the Google Search settings.
Although if you use the XGELS module and have bought premium, you can backup icons/folders. Backing up widgets is impossible, however.
Merry Holidays all!
Just like the title asks: what do you use for backing up Homescreen/HS apps.
I like to clean wipe for custom Roms and use TiBu for apps/data mostly. I do use it for a couple systems apps, but thats about it. However, no matter what, I can't get my apps and folders restored to Google Launcher/Home screens.
Is there a way?? Thanks

3rd party launchers like Nova or Apex got this function build in and if I am not wrong, if you install Google Launcher afterwards it will ask you to import from other launcher (?), that would be one way. I am not aware of any other.
Google Now Launcher does not allow backup up and restoring of homescreens to storage or from other launchers, at all. Only most other launchers have such functionality.
If you have Xposed, however, the XGELS module (I think it also needs premium via an in-app purchase) lets you backup and restore homescreen data (excluding widgets) of Google Now Launcher to your internal storage. This is the only way.
I was afraid of that. Thank you. Have a great day.

Oh yeah. That's if you have app data synced to Google, then it might sync that too.
But, no way to export/import/store it yourself except with Xposed.

Recently, thanks to @strongst I learned that I could freeze the System Update app to get rid of notifications (using Titanium Pro).

So what do y'all see as essential things to freeze for system performance?
