When I place an icon on my home screen I am unable to remove it from the screen or uninstall it from the home screen.
Long pressing an icon does not reveal a remove or delete option. I have no idea how I've done this, and I can't figure a way to undo it. I have no third party launchers. I have restarted my phone. I have cleared the default launcher cache.
Any ideas? Thank you very much!
SOLVED: I didn't want to do it, but factory resetting fixed the issue. No idea what created my issue, but resetting fixed it. Thanks anyone who looked at this.

Have you tried to Long Press and move it? Then you should See the Option at the top of the Screen.

Long pressing does not work.
Long pressing and moving icons does not show a remove option on my home screen.
I have a suspicions that uninstalling Nova Launcher might have disabled the option? Or an OS update might have done it? I just bought the phone earlier this month. I use to be able to remove the icons. Just in the last few days, the option has gone away.

I upgraded yesterday and seem to have several issues I would love help on.
1. Lost my purchased ringtones
2. Lost my Beautiful Widgets (Problem loading widgets) on screen..I cleared the data and uninstalled and reinstalled and rebooted, still gone.
3. When I press the button left of the home button, Google search comes on instead of Settings ect.
How do I fix these problems?
Thanks,
Deb
Beautiful Widgets
Not sure about #1 and #3, but #2 is easy to fix: just remove Beautiful Widgets from your home screen, then add it back. This worked for me (using Launcher Pro)

are you long pressing the menu button? sometimes when the phone gets laggy it doesnt come up so people have a tendancy to hold the button longer then the long press function comes up which is search by default.
all purchased maket apps can be re downloaded once you log into the market account. trust me they are there and can be replaced free of charge. just go into market and click my apps. as for beautiful widgets, uninstall, then reinstall. uninstalling from the market will not remove your privlage to reinstall, if you are within the refund period it will ask you if you want a refund, if you say no you can redownload it as many times as you like.
EDIT: I have withdrawn any help I offered due to the OP sending me a whiny, insulting PM.
I can't move the widget from the screen.
Factory data reset, a few times, but still without success.
Somebody idea?
Press and hold the one you want to remove and then drag it down to the bottom of the screen

home screen.
When I hold the icon appears able to move, but just as it freezes. It is interesting that the icons can be placed on display, but they can not move. Otherwise, everything works smoothly.
Today I re-installed the RUU (RUU_Pyramid_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.28.707.2_Radio_10.43.9007.00P_10.11.9007.19_M_release_193173_signed), but still without success. I think it's a software bug ..
That's just weird. Can you add shortcuts through long-pressing, or just through the Personalize menu? Does long pressing work anywhere else?
Maybe try downloading another launcher app and see if you can add/remove widgets and shortcuts there, just to try to narrow it down.

Do you think that the problem in the software?
Unlocking (ring) is also known front terraces ....
Last night, my AT&T HOX discharged completely. I'm thinking it might have reset and went into a constant bootloop, but I'm only guessing. So I plugged up to the charger and let it get charged about 10% before really messing with it. So rebooting the phone led me to a "frozen" screen. At first I thought it was the Picture Password Lockscreen app so I uninstalled it. No change.
I then realized it wasn't a frozen screen (although the slow start up continue after each reboot, but the home key would not function. Menu button will function, so would the back button. Only problem was that despite having the haptic response from the keys, I couldn't get to the home screen. It was just a white screen at and the notification bar at the top. The only way I was able to get a launcher to open was due to the Play Store notification that allowed me to open my ADW launcher from the app list. I installed a home switcher, but still, could not get the home button to work. The hepatic response was back, but it would not yield going directly to ADW as my default launcher, nor select one once I cleared defaults. So I dirty flashed my ROM (Venom XL 3.2.6) and again got the slow start and the inability fort he home key to bring me to the homescreen (or the option to select). I then thought the perhaps it was an issue with the kernel, but still the same thing occurs after flashing the stock kernel. I get the haptic response and the screen does a quick flash. Nothing else.
Has anyone encountered this before or have any idea what controls this function and how to fix it?
From launcher, check your hone button settings, preferences-gesture settings. Check Home key - it should say that it is set to Show home screen. If that doesnt work check to see if in pocket detection is enabled. If it is, try disabling.

Thanks for the tip, but I couldn't get it to work. Had to end up wiping data. Thanks anyway.
My Samsung unlocked S7 just received a Nougat update. Looks ncie but one big issue I am having right away (and feel stupid I cant figure out):
I can no longer remove App Shortcut Icons from my home screen (using Apex Launcher). Used to be I long press on the icon and have an option to drag to "Remove".
Now when I long press I have option to Uninstall the app, but not to just remove the icon from my home screen pages. Any help?
EDIT/UPDATE: Totally weird. The "Remove" option has not reappeared and I can again delete icons from the home screen.
I messed up the Home screen on my P7P by moving the shortcuts around. How do I return the Home screen to what it was before a began fiddling with the phone, and without doing a complete Factory Reset?

Manually. Unless you did a backup with something like Swift Backup. If you only use Goggle's backup option, you'll either have to do it manually or factory reset and restore your G backup
I'd rather learn how to do it manually. That brings up another question - how do I get rid of the shortcuts that are at the top of the Home screen?
I've tried dragging them away, and double-clicking them, and I've searched around the various Settings but I have not been able to delete those shortcuts that I created. Maybe click, hold, and then drag?
As I become more familiar with the phone I find that I don't really need them because for my use, they are just duplicates. And a couple of them are duplicated twice.
Clear data of your launcher.

For individual shortcuts, you have to hold and drag them to the top of the screen to "X Remove"...
If you find that there are shortcuts automatically added to your homescreen whenever you install an app from the Play Store, there's an option in the "Home settings" that sets it up that way....
Just some FYIs in case you didn't know...
