Bricked OnePlus 7 Pro? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Okay, so I know this has been posted a lot but I am pulling my hair out!! :crying:
So this is what happened, I downloaded this app from google play. It had 4.8 rating, whatever. But it's purpose was to, keep your game playing in the background when your screen is locked. Everything was working fine, until my phone lagged and restarted, I got it to turn back on like normal. But then, random shut offs has been happening ever since.
I decided to do a factory reset on my phone, it was okay for a day, but when I played a game on the phone, it crashed
and shut off again.
Now it won't open, i tried everything! and when I say everything, I mean every basic way to restart it. Except flashing it. Because it can't even turn on on it's safe mode. it has been on a coma for 3 hours now, it is plugged now on its original power brick and chord.
My pc doesn't recognize it.
I have 2 questions, will I still be able to fix this? And, can a technician fix this. Like 100% fix it when I decide to go to a tech tomorrow?

Try after few hours and check if the pc detects it. Technician can fix it but try one time on the pc tomorrow before your leave for technician. Also change the usb cable and try.

Thanks! I already tried changing the cable, I will try again once I get home. But, if it won't work, I'll go for the tech. Do I have to go to a oneplus tech? or any mobile tech can do? I read that this is "Hard brick" and somewhat impossible to fix. I really just need something to calm me down. LOL! so you telling me that a tech can fix it for sure, made me a little less worried.

Best will be sent to oneplus if accessible either you have warranty or not. If that's a hardbrick then you can't be sure if you local technician can fix it.

Did you try holding key combination while connecting to the PC or you just connected it to the PC and nothing happened?

I tried holding the key combination for a good minute, the power button embedded on my finger LOL! But yes, the PC did not detect anything.

Well, we don't have Oneplus "store" here, just resellers, and they don't offer warranties nor fixes.
I tried opening again, but it's still not responding.

Not the power button. Volume buttons. You can get in EDL mode that way and maybe it will be recognized if bricked. There are 2 possibilities, it's either brick or hardware damage. If bricked only, it can be unbricked. IF damaged, well, the Service center.
Try this:
Power your device off
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode. So, Volume Up and Down together hold and plug the cable in while holding the buttons. If you get any detection, there is hope.
Use MSM Tool, of course with corresponding ROM for flash.

My captivate is now COMPLETELY DEAD...

I unrooted this morning and was doing the latest official update. The download was quite slow so I left my phone aside and its screen went black.
After a while when I got back to the phone, I pressed the power button as usual, however, the screen didn't turn back on. After a few tries of either pressing or holding the power button, nothing happened. Then I decided to remove the battery and try restarting. No use...
Did search on this forum and then tried numerous ways to unbrick it, tried several procedures and combo of volumn key + power button + odin etc. Guess what, it stays as a brick.
Well, in some threads, it was mentioned that others' captivate can go to some kind of diagnosis mode without complicated procedure. In my case, no matter how I try, brick is alway a brick...
While now I'm waiting for ATT to fedex me a replacement, as a last resort, I'm posting this thread to see if I could get any help...
Million thanks!
[email protected]#$%! same here. A brick is a brick is a brick. I'm getting nothing from this thing... unreal.

yeah, same with mine
and those ^&*@#ing ATT that sent us the wrong software update doesnt care, and they only offer me a refurbished phone...
errr.... my phone is NEW when i bought it, it works properly, ATT tried to update my phone, and they bricked it... and now they dont want to take the responsibility by giving me new phone... they not only waste my time, and my data, but my money too!! i am paying NEW for this phone, not a refurb!
i like android, but i dont think i can stand this anymore... if this were apple's iphone, the apple store will replace my phone with no question asked...

[Q] Transformer not powering on?

Hey, I got my transformer yesterday, and for some reason this is the 2nd time this has happened, fully charged battery, but the device won't power on. Attempted to plug into power but no dice. Held the power button for 30 seconds, nothing, held the power and volume up and nothing. Yesterday when this happened I plugged it into my computer (Windows) and held the power and up buttons and it turned on though it could have been windows detecting the drivers. Anyone else having this? Any suggestions? I haven't had a chance to test again and see if I can bring it back through that trick yet, but I will. Then I'll try a factory reset and see if it resolves the issue. I would hate it if this is a defective unit, that's for sure esp since they are so backordered. Outside of that I love the device.

when your device isnt coming on, does your computer give you a usb notification? You could be putting it in apx mode on accident.

I will find out in a few. The thing is this has happened when I left the device unplugged and in sleep when driving to/from work. Yesterday plugging it back into the computer brought it to life. Nothing else did. Not sure what apx mode is even.
Sent from my MB860
EDIT: Ok, turns out it get stuck in some weird power mode. I plugged it into the computer with no resolution, when I held the power button for 10 seconds, then waited 5 and pressed it again, the device powered on. I suspect it might be an issue involving detecting WiFi access points when driving or something else. I'll Factory Restore and see what happens.
try turning off screen lock.

I had that sometimes in the first day I had it, after that it hasn't happened. No factory reset, just make sure to do a hard shutdown (powerbutton 10 sec~) while it's booted and it should fix the issue.

Yea, it had happened once already, and again. I'll be testing today when I leave work, factory reset and see what happens. Should it continue, I'll go to the next step. I'm just not sure what it is. Interesting bug to say the least.

I still don't really know what APX mode is, from the limited things I have seen about it, in order to get into such, the device has to be powered off first. As far as I can tell, my device isn't randomly powering itself off and automatically going into APX mode. This happens without me touching the device. When I did the power off and on today, it wasn't plugged into the computer at all. There was no recognition from the computer that the device was plugged in.
Well as of today, my EEE Transformer is dead. Will not power on the screen, Asus offers a repair of 14 business days, unacceptable.
Powering on issue
Woah...I was scared to death when mine didn't turn on the next morning that I got the device. Charged it for an hour and try to turn on again, nothing.
Holding the buttons several different ways that I know how to reset it didn't work. Finally I held the button down for more than 10 seconds. Wait a few seconds, then it powered on. Why didn't they make a hard reset since you can't remove battery!??? Hope this is just some fluke and could be updated with firmware.

Alas, mine didn't get resolved with that, computer detects it now, but no screen response. Asus tells me 14 business days to fix then says try to restore it with the Kernel Source Code. Unfortunately I can't see a way to do such from the folder and they decided to disconnect me.
There is a bug with the default lock screen that makes it so the screen doesnt power on occasionally. In order to work around this you need to disable the lock screen in the settings, or change it from the default one.
Obviously in order to do this initially it needs to be powered on and so you can see it. Therein lies your problem of course. To get around this, charge up your device so you know it has power, use the force power off method (10-12 second press of the power button), wait a few seconds (30+), then power on the device normally (5-6 second press of the power button).
If your screen doesnt come on after that, try a couple more times. It really is an RMA job if it continues to fail. If it does come on, let it boot up to the lock screen, and dont let the screen go off, keep it 'alive', unlock the device and change the lock screen in the options, to either be switched off, or to anything other than default.
This wont work for everyone, as obviously a few may actually have duff screens, but for some of you, it may just be the lock screen bug you are getting unlucky with.
Yea, I seem to have not only the lock screen bug but a defective screen. Unacceptable to me, but hey, what can I do? I've been disconnected 5 times so far, waiting on a manager and will be requesting a faster resolution than what they are offering me. (10-14 Business days is unacceptable)

I'm waiting on hold with Asus to see if they will do an Advance Repair, basically I get put on the line for the full price of the device until they declare mine broken since the return period on the Acer is 14 days at best buy. Quite outside of the repair period.

Nothing. Happens it don't light up or power on at all. It is not reconized on computer either. It's hard bricked.
Make sure the Battery is charging...
How can I make sure the battery is charging when no lights come on at all? All I do know is I had it plugged in for a while yesterday and it got really warm. But no lights whatsoever. The screen doesn't light up at all neither does the led.
??????
There are no notification lights on the D720, but when you plug it in with a charger, you should see a battery bar on the display.
Other than that, you are probably right about hard-brick.
I, luckily, never had a "brick" on the Nexus S, so someone else with experience may wanna chime in. But Google and YouTube are your friends.
Sorry...

Please help me, i have the same problem
been awhile since any action here. saved mine with JIG method once but this time it won't work ??!(why) , in search of a solution again! -> hardbrick #2 on this device!
You guys can try a USB Jig. If that does not help, I think JTAG is what you need.
Jesus... just to revive this thread (and this concept of hard bricking), I think I just accidentally bricked mine as well.
Here's exactly what I did:
One moment, it was working spectacularly - fully stock, but unlocked. I had just listed it on eBay, too.
So I ran a factory reset on it (from the Settings menu), also "erase USB storage".
Then, after it shut down for the reboot, I pulled the battery.
...
That was it. Now it doesn't turn on for anything whatsoever. No device detected on USB when plugged into PC. Remove, replace battery, hold VolUp+Power, nothing. Plug into power adapter, nothing. Nothing at all.
But the back does get lukewarm after a minute or so, as if it's alive in the head but frozen, unable to start the bootloader.
WTF? I also have 2 more of these Nexus S 4G's, and both of them seem to have Flash storage chips that exhibit the same behavior when their chips are placed in (this) working motherboard. They can't boot. When I try to "hot-flash" it by booting the bootloader then swapping the Flash chips, they can't flash anything (this is probably to be expected). So, if I can get my ONCE-WORKING phone back to life, there's a good chance I can get another working as well (one just has a cracked glass, otherwise working mainboard & peripherals).
It's old, yes, but it's a damn shame to E-waste these things for a stupid software problem like this!

OnePlus One super hard bricked?

Hello, I was flashing cm-11.0-XNF9XBS28K-bacon-signed on my opo and something went wrong on recovery, it was like rom flashing went wrong and it didn't happen, so I went to wipe and I'm pretty sure that I selected everything in wipe section, literally everything and hit the reboot button, and my phone won't wake up, no response, tried to press buttons in every combinations for maybe 1 min? My computer won't recognize my phone, nothing happens, no vibration, no sound ;x I think I erased everything, but is it possible to delete bootloader that way? Btw my battery was charged to about 90%.
I tried charging in for about 14hs and nothing happened, phone and charger during this time were cold. I tried to recognize it by Windows 10/XP and Ubuntu but no reponse from phone, so I coulnd't use this magical method with qualcomm port and drivers, and then this Color. Is it really bad hardware brick?
Have you tried this thread by any chance? Hopefully it works. Worked for me when I bricked mine by flashing hydrogen

Can you try long pressing the power button for 10 seconds or more to turn it off. Then long press the power button and connect to a PC and see if it responds

Ok I will try, but I tried before some combinations with buttons and connecting to PC, now I'm testing "dead battery" so 12hrs without touching and 6 hrs charging and then unplug and plug again. But I'm almost convinced that it's something with mainboard I talked to OP and they said that they will exchange my phone If it happened during flashing Cyanogen ROM.
//Still no respond from the PC and phone. Completely dead.
Dont worry, they wont know u had twrp if the phone is hard bricked. Just carry on your RMA process. Good luck...
Today's remote session went as I thought will be, did almost everything as this technician. Now awaiting RMA ticket.

Phone won't turn on at all - Help??

Hey there,
So recently my phone got updated, and when I got my phone out of charging, it simply turned off. I thought "Oh, well lets just turn it on", well the thing is, the phone doesnt respond to ANYTHING.
I have already tried booting into multiple modes (normal, recovery, safe mode, hard reset) but NOTHING works at all.
The phone just seems dead. I even plugged it on my computer, but of course it cant recognize the phone either.
I am looking for some master mind, telling me what should I do to turn it on, or maybe it is hardware error/damage? I never really dropped my phone, even it have just a few scratches.
Thanks for further answers/solutions!

The push buttons are perfectly fine, even the phone isnt that old, to be broken, as I stated, I took a good care of it
I guess there are no ways to fix this then? I will better call my service then.

Is very difficult to fix when it does not turn on.......is most like it that it has to be open to check.......the best would be that , take it to Samsung service
let us know what happens
Leave it connected to PC USB overnight, see if it can trickle charge
If it works, buy a new charger & USB lead
