Big Launcher is an application designed to support older people to use smart phones more easily. Big Launcher includes an interface with icons and large text to help older people can see easily. In addition, you can pin contacts and applications to the home screen to make it easier for older people to use quickly, without having to perform many operations. Young children can also use the phone more easily thanks to this simple interface.
The main reason people have trouble with touch screens is that app icons are too small for their hands or eyesight. So, if you can't help your grandparents touch the right app to open, you can install BIG Launcher to make these icons bigger and easier to use by showing only the mechanical options. copy.
Main function

I like the concept. I like that you are able to quickly get an overview of messages, calendar, calls and you can adjust was you like it. It would be better if it had facebook, twitter intergration as part of all the other info panels also.
The only issue here I see is that the whole notion of android is the widgets...which I like. I'll keep it on for awhile to test it out. Maybe it will grow on me.
It's basically windows mobile homescreen.
I agree with archboy, great concept, but still missing some customization features. The ability to move an item from the top half to the bottom half is needed. This would be great if it could also be used as a fullscreen widget, so that I could still use the rest of my screens.
I wish this was a lock screen.
IMO, this information oriented approach instead of the action/application oriented approach is much better in terms of productivity.
The only drawback of this application? I cannot access to some widgets/actions and I do really want to be able to do things like enable wireless, 3g, change brightness... without the pain of going through the setup menus.
A good solution to this problem would be a light weight home screen app which could be launched from slide screen and load the the 4 or 5 widgets I need. I've tried aHomeMini but it forcecloses, any suggestions?
@iVisionX01: yeah, having it as a lock screen is also great but, again, I won't need the full featured home app.

2nd that
Tried it for a couple of hours, but missing customizability and getting settings too far out of reach made me uninstall quickly.
I wish it was a widget!
Try QuickDesk or PowerStrip with this, working great for me, very pleasing to the eye..
wow i cant believe i missed this home screen
should be perfect with QuickDesk and PowerStrip
i dont get it??? Whats it suppose to do??
It's a shame FroYo won't let you change default launcher programatically any more (you have to do it through the settings). I would love to have had Tasker set this is default when I was at work, then LauncherPro the rest of the time

[APP][2.3+][WIP] SideKick Launcher, GYF's free little brother

Originally, I was planning on calling the little guy "Gyffy, GYF's sidekick." But then, I though "Oh, wait."
Of course I am still working on my other launcher but in my quest for ever faster access to anything on my phone, I realized that this may be another step forward, albeit with fewer features.
Warning: Alpha version.
No, it will not damage your phone, but it's still early in the dev process so, it is expected to break.
How do I use it?
In a nutshell: see that tiny blue square in the screenshots? Yes, this guy. Just double-tap it to open SK. Then, tap one or more letters.
Oh, and you can move that square wherever you want: long-press, your device vibrates; drag it around.
Limitations
Just about anything you can think of! Since it's such a young project, it lacks:
- preferences
- proper spelling
- resiliency
- initialization speed
- a consistent way to dismiss the launcher window; just tap in the text field or some open space underneath it
Fun yet useless features
- Right now, touching an app launches it; sliding over it reveals a menu for alternate actions but it doesn't offer any yet
- You can swipe left on the keyboard to delete letters; it's highly unreliable
Mandatory Download Link
Screenies
Yes, these were taken using the Genymotion simulator. How observant of you!

Oh, no. I can think of a lot of things still missing e.g. shortcuts.
You should see updates very soon.

as I opposed to having a magic blue square on your screen, why not have it activated with a dragging of your finger from the edge of a section of the screen? A lot of apps do this and it's pretty easy to use lol.

(there are more in the play store, or why dont you just download the app and see it for yourself?
it looks better on a real device anyway )
I would appreciate it, if you have a second or two to check out my app and maybe leave a rating or a comment, or
post here what you like and what you dont like. Also don't hesitate to let me know about feature requests
I already have some more features planned to release in the newxt few versions.
Currently the app is available in English and German. If you want to help me to translate Light Notes to
other languages, i would be more than happy.
Anyways.. You can grab my app over at the google play store (it is free)
(click)
Thanks for reading and checking out Light Notes! It means a lot to me
Release notes
1.0.0 (2014-04-13)
first public release to the playstore
anyone? :/
i've released an update to the app.
This fixes a little bug on Nexus 7 devices
So, what differentiates this from Google Keep?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I downloaded this for the statusbar note displaying functionality, and it's good although I'd be incredibly happy with it if there was an option to remove the icon in the status bar whilst still keeping the notes in the pulldown
Thanks
Looks nice, will try soon!

The AOSP - Tizen Workaround Thread.

Hi folks. I'm not usually one for making threads but I thought this would be a good one to see what people come up with.
First:
I'm running Vanir 4.4.4 on my Galaxy Note 2 and the Tizen 3.0 mod by Skin1980 on my Gear 2 Neo.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2850351
I followed the Guide thread by CarbonWyre To get everything up and running smooth and have had very few issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
So a big thank you to both of them !
So... what tricks do you peeps have for getting better functionality out of your gear 2?
My first contribution is getting the gear to control my Google play music. Would love to have full control in picking artists, etc. but for now this is definitely acceptable.
Needed:
Wearable Widgets
Zooper widget
Media Utilities
Super easy. Just install media utilities. Go to options and in the experimental section choose "attempt direct control" and "send cover art".
Then just open wearable widgets, make a 4x3 widget in Zooper. Grab some nice bitmaps for the icons or use "< || >". Put them wherever you want and then (important) add 3 extra rectangles to the layout. Make them big enough to easily press and make them overlap your "buttons". For each rectangle, go to "module on tap" swipe right to shortcuts, Select media utilities and then the appropriate action. turn the rectangles transparent and voila.... Control your music from your watch!
That's the most basic. But see here for additional things you can add like artist, track title, album art etc.
http://www.zooper.org/wp/archives/4695
Also be sure to make the rectangles draw on top if everything else otherwise you can't press them
I have the shortcuts watch face with wearable widgets . so I can just press that and pop up the music control widget.

Nice.. i'll try! it would be good to have the list of songs.. but good job!:good:

[APP][5.0+] Corcle, a launcher with a pointer support.

}
Hey guys! This is Corcle, a launcher with a pointer support.
Main Idea was accessing apps as quickly as possible
I have realized I get familiar with icons of the apps and I can identify them after used them a while. That's why I crammed as many apps as possible into one screen and sorted them by most usage.
Also, I have noticed if I installed some apps lately, I wanted to use them right away. That's why I placed newly installed apps at bottom for quick access.
However this wasn't enough, opening apps where placed at corners wasn't convenient and if you start switching apps constantly then it starts becoming painful.
That's because our smartphones get bigger and bigger screens, however navigating on them with only one hand become impossible. Steve Jobs had talked about this issue too and said:
Making a phone so big you can't get your hand around it
Click to collapse
Actually he was thinking phones couldn't be bigger but as we know they been. However the issue was still there and I wanted to fix it.
So, what you can do with a pointer ?
You will only move the pointer from bottom of the screen with your one finger. Pointer will act as your finger and you will be able to reach the apps with minimum effort.
To open the app, just slide the pointer on top of it and release your finger.
Holding the pointer on the top of the app will open submenu that you can favorite, open its settings or uninstall the app.
You can start searching your apps with sliding the pointer to letters and it will automatically filter them by their first letter.
If you have more apps than one page (and we usually do), moving pointer to the left and right corners will change the page
Spoiler: Video
It's still at prototype state, so there are bugs. Actually, Corcle just released to open alpha. I will be appricated if you report the bugs you found or if you have any suggestion you can send from xxxx. For updates you can join telegram group from xxxx.
I'm happy to hear what you're thinking about the app.
Future Plans:
Applying the pointer to use it inside of the apps.
Easily accesing notifications
Widget support
xxxx
Thank you for your interest, hope you enjoy Corcle
