I updated my phone last night to EMUI 10 and since taking it off charge this morning, I am getting a significant battery drain.
Prior to this update my phone was getting minimal battery drain and I would be able to use it from 7am - 11pm with around 15-20% battery remaining.
At the moment it is down to 88% since off charge at 8am and I have hardly done anything on the phone as of yet.
My apps are all on sleep apart from a few that I have always had on all the time for notification purposes.
Any suggestions please?
I have the same. Scandal. Gotta somehow go back to 9
have no problem with battery drain on my device. Did you made a factory reset ? Its always bette rto do FR after updating to new OS version.

I have this phone for two months, stock rom, not rooted, don't use mobile internet, only wi-fi, not always on, I would say a moderate usage.
The last week I am experiencing big battery problems, it drains in half a day. Nothing new installed in the last week that could be a problem, I think I had only few app updates from the market, but am not sure if the time is the same as the beginning of battery problems.
The first time I have charged the battery in the evening, disconected the charger after the light turned green, it was about 10pm, the next morning at 6 am the battery was at 4%?! The second time the battery was charged from 15% to 65% (I had no time to full carge), from 4pm to 10 pm it went down to 3% again.
Last night I made a full charge, disconected the charger at 6am this morning, now at 8 am the battery is at 75%, I don't understand...
I don't let the apps sync automatically and I use wifi only, everything is setup not to drain the battery, no problems till the last few days...I have installed GO launcer a month ago but I don't think it could be a problem, it worked all well till now.
Any thoughts or suggestions what to do?
When you go to settings, about phone, battery usage, what does the statistic point out as the biggest user? You can also download battery monitor widget to see what is usung what.
Goodluck
It says display 58%, cell standby 15%, voice calls 14% (3 voice calls), phone idle 13% (for 4 hours after disconnecting the charger), this last one, phone idle, seems to much considering others?
Anyway, I have powered off the phone, pulled the battery out and put it back in, seems the situation is better, I will see later on.
Now I remember that few days ago the phone got frozen and I had to pull the battery out to restart it because I couldn't restart it regularly. I think it is after that the battery draining problem has begun, is it possible?
I got an S7 G930F yesterday, first full charge last night, I haven't it even properly set up yet, haven't got most of my apps installed yet. I took it of the charger this morning at 8am its now at 50% at 2pm, 45 mins screen on time with the biggest battery drain being android system 20%.
I have hardly used the phone today as I'm off work, at this rate it'll be dead long before bedtime with me doing nothing.
Any ideas?
Hard to expect getting the best of it at first. It took me a good week to figure out how to optimized battery without having to use it like a 2G phone. I suggest you do factory reset. Observe how it goes that way. For the first time, a handful of things run in the background; syncing, location, whatsoever so I bet it'll take a while to really adapt and I can assure you based on experience, it's like that as it was like for me.

Always takes a few full charge cycles to get the best out of a new battery I find, fully charge and fully discharge 4-5 times, calibrates the phone too to know what 0% and 100% are iirc
But you're always going to see high battery usage setting up a new phone, installing apps, screen on constantly, playing about with it more than you will once you've had it a while
The are wide reports today of crazy bad battery life. Some people are tying it the latest Oculus update.

I'd like to believe that but I didn't have this issue on my Nexus 5X with a smaller battery or Huawei P9 Lite, in fact the P9 Lite also has a 3000mAh battery and I could make it last 2 full days, this won't last 1.
Getting the phone yesterday, you've hardly given it a chance, with heavy usage I get just over a day with mine, with medium, 2 days
Same phone, same OS, same battery
See how you get on in a week or two, or return it and get the Edge, 3600mAh
Check the package disabler pro threads, disable the battery draining bloatware (no root needed)

Yep thats the usage I got with my P9 Lite with the same size battery. I was sitting this morning look at the phones always on display. 30mins of the charger it was at 94% and that's with me not even touching it.
It's crap for the first few days
Whenever I first got my phone or when I factory reset or when I install new rom, the battery life is usually crap. But after a few days when battery optimization kicks in (power saving on apps not used in past few days) battery gets tremendously better.
Posting back to confirm that Oculus update shat on a lot of phones.
Oculus home process kept trying to install and uninstall. This demolished battery life, increased heat, etc.
Once I uninstalled Oculus, all problems went away. I will reinstall after fix.
This may be caused by either the oculus app or good lock app they have been reports on the Internet about these two particular apps
Also when setting the phone for the first time it will drain battery in the first few days
Confirmed about Oculus draining battery

Definitely was, my phone overheated and shut down over night when the update came through. I literally couldn't charge it it with fast charger. it would just sit at the same % it was burning through the battery so quickly. uninstalled sammy vr and oculus apps everything fine now.
I don't have anything oculus related installed. The is day 2, second full charge last night. Of the charger now 1 hour, its got flight mode on with wifi calling enabled. I am currently at 90% with 1 min screen on time. Android services again the biggest hog but it contains IPSec services which does the Wifi Calling part.
I was about to remove Occulus when I received an occulus update, about one hour ago, and it seems that the problem is fixed. The battery looks ok, and the phone is not hot any more. I'm waiting a little bit more to be sure...
Right guys I have found the culprit of my drain issue. Wifi calling. I happened to turn it off and I have gone from 10% drain in an hour to 1%
That's more like it, never used WiFi calling so wouldn't know if it causes drain
EDIT - Not available with my model / carrier
There's a debloat script back in the Development Section which will remove all those trash that came with the phone, as for battery optimaztion This Ultimate Battery Guide is one of the best here in XDA and is a must see for anyone with an android phone basically
Goodluck
Hi!
I have Oreo (march security).
Until few weeks ago during the night my phone lost about 2% of battery.
Now if I go to the bed with full battery, after 5 hours I got less than 95% and I fell like during the day the battery drain 15-20% more than usual.
I have adhell with like everythink blocked and no root.
Hello,
I have the same problem, my battery is emptying abnormally even while being offline at night
I saw the same subject on sammobile, it seems that an update could correct the problem, otherwise I think seriously to change mobile

Hi mate
How did you get the update, OTA or Odin?
If odin what files did you flash?
I said this because i have Oreo installed (odin) and the battery drain is normal
The only way to know for sure what is going on is with a program like BBS
My wife has had the P20 from the week it was released in the UK. The battery life has been really poor, she is what I would consider a light user on a 4GB contract which she rarely troubles and with a tablet for use at home. She has taken to carrying a portable charger with her to make sure she got through the day. I had checked for any obvious drains, even turning off bluetooth, gps etc. But from a full charge in the morning, she would struggle to have any battery left by the evening, compared to me (a slightly heavier user) having about 40-50% left on my Samsung S9.
However at some point in the last week something has changed, she is suddenly going to bed with about 60-70% battery left.
Anyone else had similar? Has there been a significant update recently (to either the phone software or some other app)?
Craig
My mate 10 after a few updates, i actually use my phone to work, work 8 am to 6 pm get home and i forgot to charge the phone last night, woke up with 72% battery and was wondering if i should bother charging.
I think it has to do with the npu
I experienced the same after the last update. Before the update it would not last more than 4h sot with 1h voice calls. Now i can get 5h sot with 1.5h voice calls and still have like 30% remaining.
i have experienced increased temperature heat. dont know what is causing it.
Same here! But I just noticed it last night before going to bed (had it on full charge), woke up 8 hrs later and the battery only drained by 1% (only Wifi is on). Not even sure if the update was even downloaded without me knowing. But before this the battery for me was performing quite well, coming home in the evening with still 40-50% left.
For the past few weeks, I've been having massive problems with the battery life of the phone (XT1955-4 RETEU2).
At first the battery would last for 3-4 days (Stock firmware Android 9 February patch) but now it will only last for about 12h, draining about 8% per hour, no matter if I use the phone or just let it sit.
Accubattery reports a deep sleep of ~90% while the screen is off.
Even if I turn the phone completely off it will lose about 5% per hour.
When I turn the phone off in the evening with 40% left, it'll be completely depleted in the morning with the battery LED lighting up when I plug it in.
At first I was on stock, then I unlocked the bootloader, hard bricked it first, successfully followed the guide by sluggedlemon (https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-power/how-to/guide-recovering-hard-brick-t3989753) and then I checked out some of the custom ROMs.
Later I returned to stock and flashed OCEAN_RETEU_PPOS29.114-134-13_cid50 from lolinet.
Since then the battery life is disastrous.
I flashed the stock firmware again using the LSMA but that would'nt solve the high battery drain issue.
Then I tried to revert to OCEAN_RETEU_PPOS29.114-134-10 (February patch) but that wouldn't help either. (bootloader and modem couldn't be reverted)
All custom ROMs I tried seem to have the same problem now.
As I read similar posts about battery life issues after the April patch, I hoped that the Android 10 patch would fix it.
But even as the Android 10 update arrived and the June update soon after, nothing has changed for the better.
Is anyone experiencing something similar? Especially the battery drain when the phone is powered off?
Or has anyone an idea what could cause this issue?
Any help, advise or idea would be highly appreciated.

If it drains when it is off sounds like ur battery needs to be replaced I have a phone that dose that
It looks like there's something wrong with your battery. Maybe you should replace it.
My battery only drains a lot when the device is on standby. To avoid this I use the Naptime app. It helps a lot, you should try it too
