My wife has had the P20 from the week it was released in the UK. The battery life has been really poor, she is what I would consider a light user on a 4GB contract which she rarely troubles and with a tablet for use at home. She has taken to carrying a portable charger with her to make sure she got through the day. I had checked for any obvious drains, even turning off bluetooth, gps etc. But from a full charge in the morning, she would struggle to have any battery left by the evening, compared to me (a slightly heavier user) having about 40-50% left on my Samsung S9.
However at some point in the last week something has changed, she is suddenly going to bed with about 60-70% battery left.
Anyone else had similar? Has there been a significant update recently (to either the phone software or some other app)?

My mate 10 after a few updates, i actually use my phone to work, work 8 am to 6 pm get home and i forgot to charge the phone last night, woke up with 72% battery and was wondering if i should bother charging.
I think it has to do with the npu
I experienced the same after the last update. Before the update it would not last more than 4h sot with 1h voice calls. Now i can get 5h sot with 1.5h voice calls and still have like 30% remaining.
i have experienced increased temperature heat. dont know what is causing it.
Same here! But I just noticed it last night before going to bed (had it on full charge), woke up 8 hrs later and the battery only drained by 1% (only Wifi is on). Not even sure if the update was even downloaded without me knowing. But before this the battery for me was performing quite well, coming home in the evening with still 40-50% left.

I have this phone for two months, stock rom, not rooted, don't use mobile internet, only wi-fi, not always on, I would say a moderate usage.
The last week I am experiencing big battery problems, it drains in half a day. Nothing new installed in the last week that could be a problem, I think I had only few app updates from the market, but am not sure if the time is the same as the beginning of battery problems.
The first time I have charged the battery in the evening, disconected the charger after the light turned green, it was about 10pm, the next morning at 6 am the battery was at 4%?! The second time the battery was charged from 15% to 65% (I had no time to full carge), from 4pm to 10 pm it went down to 3% again.
Last night I made a full charge, disconected the charger at 6am this morning, now at 8 am the battery is at 75%, I don't understand...
I don't let the apps sync automatically and I use wifi only, everything is setup not to drain the battery, no problems till the last few days...I have installed GO launcer a month ago but I don't think it could be a problem, it worked all well till now.
Any thoughts or suggestions what to do?
When you go to settings, about phone, battery usage, what does the statistic point out as the biggest user? You can also download battery monitor widget to see what is usung what.
Goodluck
It says display 58%, cell standby 15%, voice calls 14% (3 voice calls), phone idle 13% (for 4 hours after disconnecting the charger), this last one, phone idle, seems to much considering others?
Anyway, I have powered off the phone, pulled the battery out and put it back in, seems the situation is better, I will see later on.
Now I remember that few days ago the phone got frozen and I had to pull the battery out to restart it because I couldn't restart it regularly. I think it is after that the battery draining problem has begun, is it possible?
Hello,
I bought this phone a month ago. At first the battery lasted quite well, I got around 5 hours of screen time with battery life to spare. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago I accidentally left the phone under my pillow and fell asleep on it- causing it to overheat a tad bit (I woke up 3 hours later and it was very warm to the touch and had turned off). After charging it up, I continued to use it normally but noticed that the battery would drain a little bit quicker than normal. Before I could easily go around 10 hours with heavy use and have 40% battery left, now after 10 hours it's left with about 15-20%. I am a heavy user but I haven't properly checked how much screen time I'm getting now, however I'll update that later.
As for the main problem- last night I charged my phone before sleeping (100%) and when I woke up in the morning it was turned off. I turned it on only to see that my battery had drained to 0% while on standby all night- whereas overnight I usually only lose around 2-3% battery.
After charging my phone up for 15 minutes- the battery level again returned to 100%. I only charge my phone through my laptop via USB. What happened here? Is my battery deteriorating? Should I get the phone replaced? I would appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks.
Also I've attached the screenshots showing how my battery died and how it was quickly restored. Can someone explain this occurrence?

Your sudden battery drop has nothing to do with what happened before.
Several people already mentioned this sudden battery drop as you can read in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545553 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678909
No reason to return your device, its a know issue.
Drain your battery completly then charge your phone to 100%, turn the phone one and leave it to charge a hour more. Essentialy you have to recalibrate your battery.
So a brief update regarding SOT.
I left home with 90% charge this morning. Used the phone for 8 hours and it went down to 20% - granted, with heavy use.
Got 4.5 hours of SOT. Is this about average? imo I feel like this falls a bit below average. Ill check other threads as well and compare, but as far as I know, I feel like I should be getting a *little* more juice out of my phone. Data connection was on throughout, and some games were played and pictures taken.
Anyone else feel like they're getting sub-par use out of their battery?
*screenshots provided.
- checked the other threads, looks like ~5 hrs SOT is the most this phone puts out?
Same here.
Are there any news from Motorola?

Hi everyone, I'd just like to ask what's the average battery life of the G Pro 2? I somehow feel my device drains really fast for what it's worth.
I had around 3 hours of run time and it went from 100% down to 85% with only 53mins of screen time. 2 of those 3 hours were used on 2g, text messaging only, when I got home i used facebook and wifi for about 30mins (but wifi connects as soon as i get home).
so I'd say around 15% after 3 hours of moderate usage. is this acceptable? though I'd like it to drain a little slower.
I'm currently on V20a Lollipop, rooted but stock everything. also the brightness was set to 20% the whole time.
Could anyone also help me out (like literally hold my hand) in choosing a lightweight, resource saving ROM? Kernels are a bonus but right now, it's a bit unsettling to see lollipop eat away 6gb of my already small 16gb internal storage.
My device is still 2 days old, so I'm still a bit jumpy with it xD thanks in advance!
no, thats not normal. what does the battery option say uses most battery in settings?
UPDATE:
just did another 3-hour monitor, right now I'm looking at 3h10min on battery and it dropped from 100 to 91%.
WIFI was on but I didn't use it, 50min screen on time with 15min of voice calls.
Is it just me or is Lollipop a bigger battery drain than kitkat?
BUMP
here's what i've got:

You're pretty lucky, on an average I get 3 hours of usage from my phone. Legitimately from 100%-0%. On WiFi using only WhatsApp, playing a few rounds of a game and some music. Don't get me started on when I use it for navigation.
UPDATE:
I forgot to mention in my OP that i already had Amplify and Greenify and still had those kinds of stats.
Now I installed DS battery saver to drain the least amount of battery when I'm not using the phone, and so far it is GREAT.
Before I left for school (around 12:30pm local time) I was able to charge it to around 85% and as of writing (1:27am) it's sitting at 33% with 2hrs of screen on time. Note that those 2 hours I used for gaming, youtube, app downloading, and web browsing on wifi; I guess it's also important to note that I play really heavy 3D games (Maersk's quest for oil for instance).
Considering the load i placed on it for those 2 hours, I'd say battery life improved quite a bit, though not amazing, still a lot better than before.
When screen is off, it drains less than 1% an hour. I went to sleep 3:30am with 100% charge, woke up 10:30am with 96%, in 7 hrs i lost only 4% while the screen was off (compared to around 10% for the same amount of time before DS Battery Saver)
I encourage other LG GP2 users to try it out. Root your device to be able to use the "tune cpu" option.

What rom are you using? i had a problem charging my Gpro2, it takes 4-6hours to fully charge.
i don't know if its a hardware problem or kernel/rom..
I'm using LP rom and rooted, i also use amplify, greenify and DS battery saver. i'll get back after after a few test this week, i'll check my cable, adapter then replace my battery if necessary

Using stock LP rom V20a but rooted. Are you using the charger and cable that came with the device? I believe it was rated 1.8A. I tried 3 setups since it was weird because it originally took me 3hrs to fully charge:
1.) New charger + cable (the ones that came with the phone)
2.) My old LG Optimus G's charger + new cable
3.) Optimus G's cable + new charger
I tried these setups out on the same outlet and the new charger+cable charged faster, but it was still around 2hrs or so. So I tried it on another outlet, one that we (my dad and I) attached, and voila, around 1hr 30mins to charge while on and even less that when the device is off; note those numbers are for 0~100%
We're just living in a rented house and some of the outlets are pretty old, and I bet delivers low current (possibly due to small wires) while the new outlets we attached used high-gauge wiring.
If you're charging slow with the charger and cable that came with the phone, try to charge at another outlet that uses high gauge wiring.
Almost a month since purchasing (Amazon return window coming up fast). Here's my experience given that I walked right into this battery-gate issue.
Disclaimer: I'm a heavy user. I get A LOT of email notifications, WhatsApp and keep the screen fairly bright (never less than 7 out of 10). It has Verizon LTE service. Verizon said this would not affect my battery life....
Week one. On a full charge I could only get about 5 hours. Off the charger 9 am and by 2pm it was back on the charger for a one hour re-charge that got me home until it was back on the charger for the night.
I had to purchase a second charger for my desk during the day. I picked up a third for $8 just to keep in my bag for when on the go.
Week 2. Same 20% drain per hour.
Week 3. I switched off diagnostic notifications, and switched from vibrate alerts to sound alerts. Big improvement. I went from 5 hours to about 9 hours. Battery drain is now 11% per hour.
Zero Lemon needs to make an S3 case...
And it needs a fast charging port. A Battery this small would charge quickly with a cord. 2 hours for 0% to 90% is pretty ridiculous in this era. My Note 3 charged to 100% in an hour 4 years ago.. And yes I know it's for waterproofing but other makers like Garmin and Polar use charging ports with waterproof gaskets.
I was getting about 2 to 3 percent per hour until a few days ago when the battery drain bug hit. At that time, it was almost 12% per hour.
I did a factory reset and I'm sitting at about 1.6 to 2 percent per hour.
I get about 1-2% but I don't need the fitness tracking stuff so i usually have Samsung health disabled and AOD off but location on and wake gestures on. I also have the diagnostic option off since the day I got it. I read somewhere the current battery bug can be averted by turning the diagnostic option off. I get 20+ emails a day and about 30+ texts and WhatsApp each. So I generally use my watch for texts, WhatsApp, emails, weather and Samsung Pay
With AOD ON and use for many things : cheklist, note, memo, notification, alarm, timer, stopwatch.... I have average drain of 3.5% at 4.5% by hour. I'm happy when I have 3.5% but it grow quicly to 4%-4.5% if I use a little. Just but can live with this.
For those who have serious battery drain on v3.0.0.2 (and even have broken sensors such as heart rate detection like me) can go for repair, if still covered by warranty.
I have recently the same behavior as described by many after upgraded to v3.0.0.2, battery drain 20%/hr and it become worse when I found out wake up gesture is not working at all, so is the heart rate sensor as well as steps tracker.
I hesitated whether to send it back to repair, but in the end so glad I did, it only took 1 day and they informed me they have changed the motherboard and replace with new battery (as I told them about bad battery drain issue as well). And guess what, I got back my gear s3 frontier with everything working but on old enough firmware 2.3.2.3 (which is working pretty good, just that battery usage around 5%/hr not that great).
After that I decided to take the risk to upgrade my firmware to 3.0.0.2 again, and whoa, everything still works perfect and battery drain has gone! Battery usage is now around 1%/hour which is acceptable I think.
I ran an experiment during the weekend, the phone was completely disconnected for 3 days. After the first day I even enabled battery saver. I don't have AOD or any other running apps. After 3 days it lost about 30% without any usage, quite linearly. This seems kind of high, I could notice the same drain in real-life and blamed it on poor network reception. I get perhaps 1-2% per hour inside the house with WiFi connected and nothing else running. Does this sound normal or should I try resetting the phone?
As a dumb comparison, I took the iPhone SE (old one) out for a day, connected to 4G, WiFi on, made a few photos and after a few hours the battery was still at 100%. Even if it's really only 95%, the P3 would have been already at 90% with twice the battery size.
